WOOSTER -- Vendal R. Morris, 70, 939 Country Club Drive, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at his home.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Melvin C. Browning officiating. Burial will be in Rittman Cemetery.
Friends may Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born March 5, 1932, at Flintsprings, Ky., to Ellis and Rae (Butler) Morris.
Surviving are his wife, Ellen (Pertee) Morris; sons, Robbie Morris of Canton and Jason Morris of Rittman; daughters, Beverly Hillard of Casper, Wyo., Connie Neff and Debra (Rick) Harden, both of Canton and Elizabeth (Charles) Roper and Jennifer Morris, both of Wooster; brothers Willard "Mutt" (Dorothy) Morris of Florida, William (Jean) Morris of Fredericksburg and Dwight Morris of Indiana; sisters, Edith Snodgrass of Wooster, Lucille (Reathel) Cardwell of Creston and Faye (June) Pertee and Carolyn (Jerry Sr.) Pertee, both of Smithville; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ruth Nahrenz
SEVILLE -- Ruth Opal Nahrenz, 59, of Seville, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be held at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville.
Friends will be received at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster, on Friday from 4-9 p.m.
Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Wadsworth-Rittman, 102 Main St., No. 304, Wadsworth 44281 in her memory.
She was born in Wooster.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Nahrenz, to whom she had been married 39 years; daughters, Susan (David) Buchanan of Canal Fulton, Denise Nahrenz of Shreve, Tina (Steven) Cornwell of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Amy (David) Lentz of Shreve; four grandchildren; sisters, Dora Gilmore of Argentina, South America and Mary (Chuck) Switzer of Ashland; a brother, George (Violet) Gilmore of Ashland and many nieces and nephews.

Timothy Rambacher
LOUDONVILLE -- Timothy H. Rambacher, 47, 415 N. Wood St., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Father Kevin Conroy officiating. Burial will be in Sandridge Cemetery, Loudonville.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-8 at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He was born April 26, 1955, in Ashland, to Joseph and Rita (Sellers) Rambacher.
Surviving are his daughter, Felicia Nicole Rambacher of Loudonville, his son, Dustin Lee Rambacher of Loudonville; his parents, Joseph and Rita Rambacher of Loudonville; his brother, Perry Rambacher of Perrysville; two sisters, Faith Seffens and Hope Bechtol, both of Loudonville and nine nieces and nephews.

Elmer Schmucker Sr.
GLENMONT -- Elmer A. Schmucker Sr., 76, 11886 Township Road 252, died Monday afternoon, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg with the Rev. Frank Hudson officiating. Burial will be at Canaan Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 at the funeral home or one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alexander Funeral Home, P.O. Box 108, Millersburg to go toward funeral expenses.
He was born Jan. 14, 1926, in Hartville, to Andrew C. and Katie Ann (Gingerich) Schmucker and married Beatrice Zimmerman on March 20, 1952. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Mrs. Kenneth R. (Violet) Stuber of Glenmont, Mrs. Danney (Christine) Croll of Millersburg and Elmer Andy Schmucker Jr. of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a brother, Abe A. Schmucker of Goshen, Ind.; four stepbrothers, Levi E. Hershberger of Fredericksburg, Sam E. Hershberger of Apple Creek, Eli E. Hershberger of Millersburg and Henry E. Hershberger of Holmesville; four stepsisters, Mrs. John J. (Mary) Miller of Holmesville, Mrs. David C. (Barbara) Wengerd of Millersburg, Mrs. Emanuel A. (Rebecca) Schrock of Dalton and Mrs. Noah J. (Sarah) Hostetler of Sugarcreek; four half-brothers, Nathaniel E. Hershberger of Millersburg, Adam E. Hershberger of Baltic, David E. Hershberger of Fredericksburg and Milo E. Hershberger of Seville and a half-sister, Mrs. Andy J. (Katie) Miller of Apple Creek.

Winifred Acker
GUILFORD TOWNSHIP -- Winifred "Winnie" (Carpenter) Acker, 77, of Guilford Township, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at her residence, after a year-long battle with cancer.
Surviving are her husband, Lloyd, to whom she was married 56 years; a son, Jerry (Kathy) Acker; a daughter, Jean (Bob) Slansky, all of Guilford Township; three grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Leo) Lucas of Las Vegas, Nev., Ruth (George) Grossenbacher of Wooster, Erma Agins of Bucyrus, Betty (Marion) King and Doris (Jim) Bourne, both of Orrville and brothers, Robert Carpenter of Rittman, Glen (Bernice) Carpenter of Woodsfield.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with pastor Bill M. Powell officiating. Burial will be at Acme Lutheran Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Wadsworth-Rittman.

Cornelia Appling
MASSILLON -- Cornelia "Corrie" Appling, 66, 7979 Northwood St. NW, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, after an extended illness, at Massillon Community Hospital.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2177 Nave Road SE, Massillon, with Kenneth Sellman delivering the memorial service.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 1440 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, Ill. 60607.
Cornelia Diamant was born Nov. 5, 1935, in Breda, Netherlands to Alexander and Johanna Diamant.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Sterling E. Appling of Massillon, and two children and their father, Phil van Tol of Orrville, Kim (Trish) van Tol of Wooster, Renee (Jeff) Hartzler of Marshallville, a brother, Alex Diamant Jr. and two sisters, Francisca van-Heelsbergen and Sjaan Wansink of the Netherlands. five grandchildren.

Norval Bucklew
MOFFITT HEIGHTS -- Norval M. Bucklew, 93, of Moffitt Heights, died Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2002, at Hanover House in Massillon where he had been a resident for the last two years.
There will be no calling hours or services and cremation has taken place. Burial of his ashes will take place in Killbuck Cemetery.
Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
He was born in Killbuck on Oct. 6, 1908, to George W. and Mallisa (Mullet) Bucklew and married Lorna B. Randles on June 26, 1933. She died Aug. 15, 1992.
He is survived by a son, Robert Bucklew of Wichester, Tenn.; a granddaughter and a great-grandchild.

Jeanette Castor
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jeanette S. "Jane" Castor, 80, 1605 Southbrook Lane, and formerly of Elyria, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, Fla.
Services will be at St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Edward J. Smith and Fr. Paul J. Wysocki officiating. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery near Rittman on Thursday at 2:45 p.m.
There will be no calling hours. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions for Mass may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria 44035 or Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Fla. 32308.
She was born July 26, 1922, in Elyria to Louis and Wanda (Kniola) Smith and married Robert A. Castor on Sept. 4, 1948 in Elyria. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Edwards of Tallahassee, Fla.; a granddaughter and a sister, Angela Baldauf of Elyria.

Nancy Davison
JAMESTOWN -- Nancy Elizabeth (Long) Davison, 76, of Jamestown, died Friday morning, Sept. 27, 2002, at her home.
Services were held Monday at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia. The Rev. Donald Trout officiated. Burial was at Spring Valley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Clinton County, 61 E. Main St., Wilmington 45177.
She was born Oct. 17, 1925, in Greene County to Homer and Lelia (Anderson) Long and married Arthur C. Davison. He died previously.
Surviving are her children, Charles R. (Martha) Davison, David A. (Caroline) Davison, Donna M. Robbins, Daniel L. (Becky) Davison, Diane (Philip) Edinger, Donald Davison, Deborah (Charles) Stethem and Denise (Steve) Shaffter; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Robert (Katherine) Long, Ann Williams, Betty (Robert) Amole, Mildred (Gene) Elliott, Helen Pyles and Paul Long and many nieces and nephews.

Claire Drouhard
LOUDONVILLE -- Claire H. Renie Drouhard, formerly of Township Road 2850, died early Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2002, in Colonial Manor Health Care Center, after an extended illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Loudonville, with Father Kevin Conroy officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30-10 a.m. at the church.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Peter's Catholic Church, 130 N. Union St., Loudonville 44842.
Arrangements are being handled by Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
She was born April 12, 1916, in Massillon to Jacob and Mary Louise Renie and married Wilson J. Drouhard. He died in 1992.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Charles "Chub" Heller of Loudonville, her son, Clayton Drouhard of Loudonville, and five grandchildren.

Geneva Horner
WOOSTER -- Geneva M. Horner, 58, of Wooster, died Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2002, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a short illness.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service Friday at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Kathy Meyer officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral expenses to Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284 Benden Drive, Wooster 44691.
She was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Lakeville, to Ralph N. and Leanna (Lemon) Fortney and married David Horner on Sept. 10, 1962 in Shreve. He survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, David Ralph Horner and a daughter, Margaret Horner, both of Wooster and two grandchildren.

Peter Zook
GREENACRES, Fla. -- FPeter Zook, 75, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at his home in Greenacres, Fla. He was formerly of Loudonville.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ in Loudonville. A celebration for friends in Florida will be held at a later date.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 127 S. Union St., Loudonville 44842 or First Congregational Church of Lake Worth, 1415 N. K Street, Lake Worth, Fla. 33460 or Hospice By The Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, Fla. 33486.
Local arrangements are being handled by Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Zook; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Bob and Linda Zook of Mansfield; Ron and Denise Zook of Gainesville, Fla.; Tom Zook of Wilton Manors, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Roger Wachtel of Loudonville, and seven grandchildren.

John Odenkirk Jr.
WOOSTER -- John C. "Ody" Odenkirk Jr., 84, of Shreve Road, Wooster, formerly of Wayne Street, Orrville, died Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2002, at his residence after a nine-month illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Paul Stroup officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be observed.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be held at 6:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
John was born June 24, 1918, in Orrville, to John C. and Viola (Nussbaum) Odenkirk and married Dorothy Joanne Rice on Feb. 14, 1953, in Massillon. She died July 23, 1969.
Surviving are a very special friend, June Kline, with whom he had made his home; a son, John C. Odenkirk III of California, and a daughter, Jody (Mark) Berkey of Shreve; grandchildren, John C. (Mindy) Odenkirk IV, Jeff (Wendy) Odenkirk, Meagan Odenkirk and Kristina Berkey, all of Wooster and Kimberly and Kevin Berkey, both of Shreve; and a great-granddaughter, Allicen Odenkirk of Wooster.

Virginia Fishburn
WOOSTER -- Virginia Fishburn, 75, 1034 Ridgecrest Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at her residence.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wooster Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Nathan Ward officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Feb. 14, 1927, in Shreve, to Vernard and Gertrude (Dilyard) Kistler and married Robert Fishburn on Dec. 6, 1946. He survives.
She will be deeply missed by her husband; children, Dale (Linda) Fishburn of West Salem and Larry Fishburn of Wooster; grandchildren, Jackie Swartzentruber, Jeffrey Fishburn, Lindsay and Sean Fishburn; great-grandchildren, Andy, Rachel, Kayla, Emily, Kevin, Marla and Jacob Fishburn, Chelsie and Tyler Swartzentruber; a brother, Richard Kistler and a sister, Joyce Treece, both of Wooster.

Charles Rice
LODI -- Charles N. Rice, 80, of Lodi, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Evergreen Care Center in Medina.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Lodi, with Pastor Mike Andrews officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church, 114 Church St., Lodi 44254.
He was born June 4, 1922, in Lodi, to Noble and Verda (Stentz) Rice and married Agnes Hofstetter on June 21, 1952, in Lodi. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Lisa Rice, Brad (Colleen) Rice and Brian (Dawn) Rice, all of Lodi and Randy (Beth) Rice of Wooster; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Virginia Kennedy of Lodi; and brothers, Richard (Lynne) Rice of Westlake and David (Mary) Rice of Lodi.
