JEROMESVILLE -- Laurel E. Landman, 83, 7 Boyd Drive, died Monday evening, Aug. 13, 2001, at Brethren Care Nursing Home in Ashland.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Jeromesville United Methodist Church, with Pastor Beryl Baum officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jeromesville United Methodist Church; or Jeromesville Community Fire District.
She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Wayne County, to Howard and Hazel (Anderson) Batdorf and married Harold Landman on Dec. 2, 1936. He survives.
Other survivors include children, Millie Jo Smith of Westerville and Larry Landman of Wooster; grandchildren, Holly Koron of Tampa, Fla., Brett Landman of Salem, Ore., Steven Smith of Columbus and Lisa Smith of Gahanna; great-grandchildren, Madeline Laurel Green and Max Gabriel Green; and a sister, Geraldine Fulk of Jeromesville.

Kenneth Bricker
WADSWORTH TOWNSHIP -- Kenneth A. Bricker, 61, of Wadsworth Township, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital, after a two-year illness.
He was the father of John (Christine) Bricker of Orrville.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home in Wadsworth, with the Rev. James L. Singleton officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born in Cleveland to Steve and Alice Bricker and married Nancy Thombs. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Duane Bricker and his fiance, Cathy; William Bricker and Regina (Michael) Cole, all of Wadsworth; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brothers, George Bricker of Kipton and Robert Bricker of Oberlin; half-sisters, Alice Morgan of Lorain, Darlene Senz of Chippewa Lake, Stephanie, Anita, Christine and Missy, and a half-brother, Robert Flood, of Mansfield; stepsisters, Eva Reichard, Ernestine Brook, Fran Potts and Naomi Wheatin and a stepbrother, Ernie Norris Jr.

Jessie Baker
DOYLESTOWN -- Jessie H. Baker, 86, formerly of Doylestown, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Smithville-Western Care Center, Wooster.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Doylestown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James H. Humphrey officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown.

She was born Nov. 5, 1914, in Lancaster, to A.L. and Jessie K. (Kohr) Gantz and married John C. "Jack" Baker in December 1936. He died Dec. 8, 199
Surviving are daughters, Elaine "Lannie" Bartter of Wooster and Jackie (Jurgen) Ploetz of Bamberg, Germany; granddaughters, Kristin (Scott) Payden of Brecksville, Kim (Kent) Wargowsky of Vienna, Va., Kate (Art) Arnold of Columbus, Tina (Jose) Gonzalez of Switzerland, and Antje and Kathrin Ploetz of Germany; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Olivia and Isabel Wargowsky, Jack Parker Arnold, Sebastian and Estella Gonzalez Ploetz; brothers, David Gantz of Santee, Calf., and Richard O. Gantz of Big Lake, Ark.; a sister, Jane Putnam of Portsmouth; and sisters-in-law, Martha Blackford of Orrville and Mary K. Baker of Barberton.

Bernard Johnson
EUSTIS, Fla. -- Bernard W. Johnson, 74, of Eustis, Fla., formerly of Wooster, died Monday morning, Aug. 13, 2001, at Florida Hospital Waterman in Eustis.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hazelton Village Clubhouse. Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Florida National Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
Arrangements are being handled by All Faiths Cremation Society in Lady Lake, Fla.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 700, Eustis, Fla. 32727.
He was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Falconer, N.Y., to Deward and Anna Johnson and was married to Carol M. (Seekins) Johnson for 54 years. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Bernard W. Johnson Jr. of Rochester, N.Y., Bruce Johnson of Massillon, Brian Johnson of Shreve, Larry Johnson of Eustis, Fla., Evelyn Cannon of Apple Creek and Dawn French of Rittman; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Goldie Carlson of Sugargrove, Pa., Alice Carlson of Jamestown, N.Y., Nancy Kuntz of Gerry, N.Y., and Luella Joans of Dewittville, N.Y.; and a brother, Harold Johnson of Mayville, N.Y.

Daniel Click
BURBANK -- Daniel Lee Click, 40, of Burbank, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at his home.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Melvin Browning officiating. Burial will be at Burbank Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Burbank Fire Department, P.O. Box 202, Burbank 44214.
He was born March 30, 1961, in Akron, to Richard L. and Ruby I. (Miller) Click.
Surviving are two sons, Zachary and Joshua, both of Westfield Center; his father, Richard Click of Burbank; two sisters, Dianne (Jeff) Schreiner of Apple Creek and Pamela Cosentino of Wooster; a brother, Joe (Theresa) Click of Creston; a nephew, Shane Grier, with whom he made his home and nieces and nephews.

Harry Gilkey
WOOSTER -- Harry "Bud" Gilkey, 73, 3146 Oak Hill Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Central Christian Church with the Rev. David Stout officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Brad Gilkey Memorial, in care of Wayne Gilkey, P.O. Box 1224, Wooster 44691.
He was born Nov. 29, 1928, in Middlesex, Pa., to Ralph and Martha (Young) Gilkey. He married Donna Hause on Dec. 16, 1949. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children Norman (Mary) of Aliquippa, Pa., Wayne of Wooster; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; his mother of Wooster; sister, Joan (Harmon) Fennel of West Middlesex, Pa., a brother, Robert (Eleen) Gilkey of Grove City, Pa., stepsisters, Pat Young, Judy Young, and Kathy Hothem, all of Wooster.

Jessie Davis
SALEM -- Jessie Edna Davis, 97, 544 Hawley Ave., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Lssex Nursing Center.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem with the Revs. Mac Kelly and Dean Williams officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 244 S. Broadway, Salem 44460.
She was born Sept. 18, 1904, in Percy, Pa., to Green Berry and Anna Mary (Haford) Means and married William N. "Bud" Davis on Sept. 18, 1923. He died Jan. 22, 1984.
Surviving are a son, Harold Owen Davis of Toledo; a daughter, Patricia Lou (Stamp) Hanson of Salem; four grandchildren; a step-granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Loren Burkholder
SMITHVILLE -- Loren J. Burkholder, 51, 8246 Smucker Road, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, as the result of a hunting accident in Holmes County on Saturday.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to graveside services at Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church cemetery with the Rev. Norma Duerksen officiating.
Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is handling arrangements.
He was born Sept. 27, 1950, in Wooster, to Guy D. and Elma (Steiner) Burkholder.
Surviving are a brother, Les (Diane) Burkholder of Grass Valley, Calif., a sister, Karen (Les) Saurer of Wooster; a nephew; and five nieces.

Eddie Church Jr.
LAKEVILLE -- Eddie Albert Church Jr., son of Tamara Renee Surrell and Eddie Albert Church of Lakeville, was stillborn Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two stepsisters, Tiffany Church and Kristina Church, both of Florida; maternal grandparents, Cliff and Joyce Surrell of Wooster and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Wayne Eshler
STERLING -- Wayne A. Eshler, 71, of Sterling, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Magnolia Care Center.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. F.D. Donaldson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-9 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Sept. 2, 1930, in Sterling, to Cloy and Levida (Roberts) Eshler and married Mary Martie on Dec. 30, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving are sons, Dennis (Janice) Eshler and Rene (Teri) Eshler of Sterling and Lloyd (Cindy) Eshler of Wooster; a daughter, Mrs. Greg (Roxann) Coffey of Casper, Wyo.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson and a sister, Mrs. Ed (Ann) Mellott of Creston.

Janet Jentes
WOOSTER -- Janet S. Jentes, 78, of West Hutton Road, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at University Hospital in Columbus.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wayne Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-9 at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.

She was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Wayne County, to Archie and Effie (Fouch) Smith and married Clayton Jentes on June 6, 1942. He died March 21, 1995.
Surviving are daughters, Carolyn (David) Mullen of Wooster, Patricia (John) Stahl of Fremont, Pamelia Farthing and Linda (James) Via, both of Wooster; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn Smith of Uniontown and Kenneth Smith of Wooster and a sister, Carole Henderlong of Wooster.

Carl Gribble
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Carl D. Gribble, 88, of River Isles, died Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2001, at Manatee Hospital in Bradenton, Fla., following an extended illness.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton with Dr. Chester Harris officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 6-9 at the funeral home.
He was born May 24, 1913 in Fresno.
Surviving are his wife, Florence G. Gribble; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Gribble of Clinton, N.C. and William and Nancy Gribble of Jonesboro, Ark.; three stepdaughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Earl Feller of Dover, Miriam and Edwin Kienzle of Canton and Marna and Larry Essig of Waynesburg; two stepsons, Elden Deible and his wife Alice, of Zoar and Verle Deibel of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Gribble of Navarre and a sister, Dorothy Beals of Dover.

Rachel Johnson
WOOSTER -- Rachel L. (Stroud) Johnson, 416 Kimber Road, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
There will be no calling hours.
She was born in 1920 in Central City, Ky., to Luther and Clarice Stroud. She married Preston F. Johnson in February 1939. He died Jan. 29, 1995.
Surviving are three children, Jack (Susan), Roger (Kaye) Johnson and Betty Taylor, all of Wooster; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Noffsinger of Missouri; brothers, Lester and Richard of Kentucky, Raymond and Charles Stroud of Wooster.

Richard Flory
ORRVILLE -- Richard L. Flory, 83, 219 Wabash Ave., died Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2001, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orrville, following a long period of declining health.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville with the Rev. Randy Gehres officiating. Burial will be at East Chippewa Church Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 7-9 at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville or one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be made to Christ United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 301 N. Main St., Orrville 44667 or Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Orrville, to John W. and Grace M. (Dodez) Flory and married Evelyn I. Roth on Dec. 15, 1944 in Gatesville, Texas. She died July 11, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Dan Flory of Orrville and a sister, Sue Amthor of North Olmsted.

Eastman Lowther
WOOSTER -- Eastman Brooks Lowther, 86, 850 Lois Ave., died Saturday morning, Dec. 29, 2001, at Wooster Community Hospital, following a long illness.
Memorial services will be in the spring of 2002. There will be no immediate services.
A private interment will be held at Wooster Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to either American Heart Association, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691or People to People Ministries, 454 E. Bowman St., Wooster 44691.
He was born Nov. 25, 1915, in Orrville, to John F. and Mary Elizabeth (Mackey) Lowther. He married Eloise L. Kamp on June 11, 1939 in Crafton, Pa. She survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John H. (Kathryn) Lowther of Wadsworth; four daughters, Janice Kaiser of Aberdeen, Md., Sally Weiland of Port Charlotte, Fla., Mrs. John (Joyce) Lang of Millersburg and Mrs. Jeff (Linda) Lowther-Karr of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a brother, Frank Eugene Lowther of New York State; a sister, Hoyland Denman of Orrville; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
