Sylvia Jenkins
BIG PRAIRIE -- Sylvia N. Jenkins, 82, 9085 County Road 51, Big Prairie, formerly of Wooster, died Tuesday evening, March 12, 2002, at her grandson's home in Wooster.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Westwood Baptist Church, Wooster, with the Rev. Guy Morton officiating. Burial will be at Spring Mountain Cemetery in Warsaw.
Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Creston, to Elmer and Nora (Ginter) Henry and married Howard Jenkins on June 23, 1938. He died May 30, 1972.
Surviving are children, Kenneth Jenkins of Frazeysburg, Howard Jenkins Jr. and Galen Jenkins, both of Wooster, Grace Daye of Big Prairie, Richard Jenkins of Killbuck and Marilyn Rousseau of Fredericktown; 17 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Airwyke and a brother, Junior Henry, both of Wooster.
In addition to her husband, children, Phyllis and Lloyd, two sisters, three brothers and two stepsisters, died previously.

Howard Arnholt
LOUDONVILLE -- Howard "Gus" Arnholt, 85, 303 N. Union St., died Tuesday morning, March 12, 2002, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, after a brief illness.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Terry E. Ruther officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery, where military rites will be held by American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Loudonville, to Howard and Maude (Elliott) Arnholt and married Martha Teeter on June 22, 1941. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Roger E. Arnholt of Loudonville, Jerry H. Arnholt of Mansfield and Maryjane (Eddie) Thompson of Dawsonville, Ga.; and one grandchild.

Ruth Stone
STERLING -- Ruth L. Stone, 82, of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at Akron General Hospital in Akron.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, 9560 Acme Road, Wadsworth, with Pastor Harold Swafford officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 at the funeral home.
She was born May 24, 1919, in Lewisburg, W.Va., to Samuel and Margaret (Perry) Ball and married Ernest Stone in January 1947. He survives.
Other survivors include children, James (Linda) Stone of Kountze, Texas, Phyllis (James) McHenry of Rittman, Jerry (Loretta) Stone of Sterling and Sharon McCourt of Rittman; a special friend, Keith McCourt; 16 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James (Nancy) Ball of Delaware.

Wayne Buth
WOOSTER -- Wayne Buth, 78, of Wooster, died Wednesday, March 13, 2002, at his home after a long illness.
There will be no services or calling hours.
The family requests contributions be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; Wayne County Humane Society, 1161 Mechanicsburg Road, P.O. Box 266, Wooster 44691; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
He was born May 16, 1923, in Fargo, N.D., to Carl and Mabel (Poehls) Buth of Sabin, Minn.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Buth, who he married in 1952; a daughter, Jane (Jim) Todd of Millbrook; grandchildren, Jessica Todd of Dayton, Jay Todd of Nashville, Tenn., and Jennifer Todd of Ithaca, N.Y.; and a sister, Jean Neshiem of Fargo, N.D.

Arthur Boone
SEVILLE -- Arthur B. Boone, 73, of Seville, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Altercare in Wadsworth.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel, Wadsworth, with the Rev. Robin Hart officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Northside Christian Church, 1825 Reimer Road, Wadsworth 44281.
Surviving are his wife, Dolores (Kuhn) Boone, whom he married Oct. 16, 1953; children, Arthur C. Boone of Columbus, Deborah (Greg) Handley of Wellington, Dave (Chris) Boone and Cindy (Tom) McGuinness, both of Seville; eight grandchildren; a great-grandson; a sister, Linda (Irv) Kundtz of Wooster; and cousins, Virginia Swank of Wooster and Clifford (Clara) Moyers of Tallmadge.

Lizzie Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Lizzie Ann Miller, 85, 5469 Township Road 401, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at her residence after a short illness.
Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the residence with Bishop Raymond S. Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Yoder Cemetery, Sugar Creek Township.
Friends may call anytime at the residence. Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek is handling arrangements.
She was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Stark County to Peter M. and Emma J. (Troyer) Miller and married Samuel E. Miller. He died April 15, 1947. She then married John D. Miller. He died April 29, 1984.
Surviving are sons, Pete S. (Anna) Miller of the home, Dan S. (Emma) Miller of Belle Center, Emanuel S. (Sue) Miller of Fort Myers, Fla., Paul E. (Betty) Miller of Middlebury, Ind.; stepchildren David (Treva) Miller, Levi (Fannie) Miller, Elmer (Norma) Miller, Lydia (William) Chupp and Esther (Sam) Bontrager, all of Goshen, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Mildred DeVoe
WADSWORTH -- Mildred W. DeVoe, 83, of Wadsworth, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Altercare of Wadsworth.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman, with the Rev. Stanley A. Ward officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Seville.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Medina County, 797 N. Court St., Medina 44256; or American Cancer Society for Medina, Portage, Summit, 1900 W. Market St., Akron 44313-6927.
She was born June 26, 1918, in Wadsworth, to John S. and Bertha A. (Kreider) Snyder.
Surviving are children, Glenn "Skip" (Helen) DeVoe of Simi Valley, Calif., Tom (Justine) DeVoe of Pickerington and Dolores Franks of Rittman; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Kenneth Snyder of Spokane, Wash., and Don Snyder of Wadsworth; sisters, Carol Jean Carlson of Alaska, Dorothy Welday and Irene Howard, both of Wadsworth, Rose Huffman of Cuyahoga Falls and Joann Leeman of Alliance.

Ivan Hershberger
MILLERSBURG -- Ivan E. Hershberger, infant son of Ervin E. and Edna A. (Hershberger) Hershberger Jr., 8143 Township Road 652, died shortly after birth Thursday evening, March 14, 2002, at Mount Eaton Care Center.
Services were held Friday, March 15, at the Hershberger Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County.
Arrangements were handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are paternal grandparents, Ervin A. and Susie Hershberger of Millersburg and maternal grandparents, Atlee S. and Anna Hershberger of Fredericksburg; great-grandparents, Sam E. and Susie Hershberger of Apple Creek, Susan Miller of Sugarcreek and Rebecca Hershberger of Peoli.

Virginia Levengood
COSHOCTON -- Virginia M. Levengood, 86, formerly of Coshocton, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Ohio Eastern Star Health Care Center in Mount Vernon.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton, with Pastor Peter Shultz officiating. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Coshocton.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Coshocton.
She was born Sept. 7, 1915, in New Bedford, to John and Caroline (Scheetz) Lautenschlager Mencer and married Arthur O. Levengood on Sept. 9, 1938. He died Jan. 6, 1989.
Surviving are children, Elaine (Keith) Miller of Wooster and Gary (Cathy) Levengood of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Herbert Tomes
BURBANK -- Herbert W. Tomes, 70, of Burbank, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Medina General Hospital.
Services will be Monday at 8 p.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi, with Pastor Martha Mathatas officiating.
Friends may call two hours prior to the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to 4-H Dog Council, in care of Ohio State Extension Office, 120 W. Washington St., Medina 44256.
He was born Jan. 7, 1932, in Cleveland, to William Harold and Lenora Marie (Herwig) Tomes and married Ryta Derhammer on Aug. 9, 1952. She survives.
Other survivors include children, Tonya (Terry) Vorhies and Terrence Tomes, both of Lodi, Tamra (Rick) Arndt of Bellaire, Mich., Tracy (Tony) Misich of Clinton and Trisha (Tom) Rutter of West Salem; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his mother of Medina; sisters, Lenore (Dale) Emmons of Medina and Shirley (Dick) Fedrick of Petaluma, Calif.; and brothers, William (Delores) Tomes of Sagamore Hills and Lyle "Mickey" (Barbara) Tomes of Medina.

James Pugh
WOOSTER -- James W. Pugh, 91, 421 College Ave., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at West View Manor Nursing Home.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 11:45 a.m.
Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born Dec. 13, 1910, in Circleville, to Thad Edward and Mary Magdeline (Bales) Pugh and married Helen Howard on May 29, 1937. She survives.
Other survivors include a brother, John Pugh of California.

Warren Martin
MASSILLON -- Warren Martin, 80, of Massillon, died Thursday morning, March 14, 2002.
He was the stepfather of Don (Linda) Daniels of Wooster.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Reed Funeral Home in Canton, with the Rev. Raymond Tucker officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Greentown, to Merle and Florence Martin.
Other survivors include sons, Randy (Terry) Martin of Canton and Bruce (Lisa) Martin of Louisville; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a stepson, Gary (Kathy) Boss of California; and a sister, Helen Jacobs of Canal Fulton.
His wives, Mary Martin and Evelyn Martin, died previously.

Mabel Craigo
SUGARCREEK -- Mabel V. Zimmerman Craigo, 94, of Sugarcreek, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Edward W. Morrison officiating. Burial will be at Ragersville Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born July 9, 1907, in New Philadelphia, to Fred and Martha (Chickery) Gribble and married Calvin F. Zimmerman. He died in March, 1979. She then married Fred Craigo. He died in January, 1987.
Surviving are a son, Glenn C. (Phyllis) Zimmerman of Coshocton; stepsons, Warren (Barbara) Craigo of Willoughby and Allan (Jacqueline) Craigo of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roland Gribble of Dover.

Anthony Catrone
ORRVILLE -- Anthony W. "Tony" Catrone, 83, 1747 W. Market St., formerly of Lee Drive, died Friday morning, March 15, 2002, at Regency Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Orrville, after a four-month illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Father Ronald J. Turek officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be held.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, where a rosary and wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born April 30, 1918, in Willard, to Frank and Rosina (Serpe) Catrone and married Norma Jean Swisher on June 22, 1948, in Marshallville. She died July 22, 1994.
Surviving are children, Rick (Linda) Catrone of Wooster, Ron (Cil) Catrone of Youngstown, Sherri (Rolly) Johnston and Therese (Charles) Baumgartner, both of Orrville; grandchildren, Ron and Terry of Youngstown, Hope Waller of Orrville, Ken (Kerrie) King of Rittman, Rick (Chandra) Catrone of Hebron, Gino Catrone, Alanna Catrone, Tony Baumgartner and Dustin Baumgartner, all of Orrville and Jessica Catrone of Wooster; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Ronnie Naugle, Nicole and Marcus Waller and Kendra King; brothers, Donald (Frances) Catrone, Mike (Lucy) Catrone and John (Meda) Catrone, all of Orrville and Nick Catrone of Akron; and sisters, Jenny Rey of Sandusky and Mary (Walter) Sekulich of Orrville.

Lona Carpenter
DOYLESTOWN -- Lona Dove Carpenter, 86, of Doylestown, died Saturday, March 16, 2002.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Church in Roane County, W.Va., where friends may call one hour prior to services. The Rev. Jim Easterling will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery.
Local calling hours will be today (Sunday) from 2-5 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown.
She was born June 4, 1915, in Gay, W.Va., to John and Gay (Reed) Brabham and married Willis Dean Carpenter. He died previously.
Surviving are children Rommie (Alice) Carpenter, Stephen Carpenter, Delores (Ted) Manning, Charlotte (Gary) Jeffries, Glenna (Jay) Culpepper, Brenda (Randy) Weekly and Terrie (Steve) Jung, all of Doylestown, Denver (Carol) Carpenter of West Virginia, Wayne (Wendy) Carpenter of Deerfield, Dorothy (Lewis) Gandee of Canal Fulton, Linda (Bob) Orosz of Orrville and Ginger (Mike) Knapp of Norton; 35 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Irene (Glenn) Green and Justine (Jim) Baker, both of West Virginia.
