Mary Beeson
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Mary F. Beeson, 78, of Huntsville, Ala., and formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, March 17, 2002.
Memorial service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington, on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Family Care, 2225 Drake Ave., Huntsville, Ala. 35805, or India Mission Fund at Faith Fellowship Church, P.O. Box 1278, Winfield, Ala. 35594.
She was born March 28, 1923, to Charles Albert and Amanda Violet (Matheny) Fitch.
Surviving are her husband, Robert J. Beeson of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Cynthia Pierce of Winfield, Ala; a son, Charles Robert Beeson of San Jose, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Emma Powell
ORRVILLE -- Emma L. Powell, 68, 220 East Jefferson Court, died Saturday evening, March 16, 2002, at her sister's residence in Orrville following a long illness.
Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the True Church House of Prayer to All Nations in Orrville with the Rev. Thomas Askin officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
Friends may call at the church from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday prior to the funeral.
Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements.
She was born on May 10, 193 in Autaugaville, Ala., to Charles and Mary (Howard) Howard and married Ernest Powell Sr. in Orrville on June 19, 1950. He died Dec. 15, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest Jr. (Brenda) Powell and Freddie Leon (Sadie) Powell, both of Orrville, a daughter, Loretta (Donald) Tyler of Orrville; four grandchildren; a step-grandchild; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elder Pullie (Olivia) Howard and Julius Howard, both of Orrville; three sisters, Jessie Palmer of Detroit, Mich., Adell Davis and Stella (James) Robinson, both of Orrville, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Donald McVay
FRESNO -- Donald L. McVay, 64, Township Road 175, and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital in Coshocton.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Given-Dawson Coshocton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Canal Lewisville Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Coshocton.

Hazel Wooton
BUCYRUS -- Hazel M. Shambaugh Wooton, 80, formerly of 600 Kaler Street, died Sunday evening, March 17, 2002, at Mifflin Care Center, Mansfield, following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be today (Tuesday) at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville, with Bill Mears and Doug Smart officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
The Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805.
She was born Dec. 12, 1921, in Tallequah, Okla. to Newman M. and Artie Marie (Butler) Mears.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Shambaugh of Mansfield and Roger Shambaugh of Jeromesville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Chapman of Indianapolis, Sandra and Richard Hoeflich of Perrysville and Mary Ellen and Ben Root of Ashland; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Donald Mears of Lima and Richard Mears of Tulsa, Okla.
Her husband, William C. Wooton, died in 1984.

Chi Chan
WOOSTER -- Chi Tat Chan, 56, 1916 Canterbury Lane, died Saturday afternoon, March 16, 2002, at Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus, following a long illness.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster. Private services will take place at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kidney Foundation of Wayne County, 207 N. Vine St., Orrville 44667.
Mr. Chan was born Nov. 15, 1945, in Canton, China, and moved from Cleveland to Wayne County in 1978. He married Shi Sheung Woo in Cleveland in 1972. She survives.
He was owner/operator of the former Hong Kong Restaurant, Wooster, retiring in 1998 after 20 years. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife, are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chi (Lang) of Columbus, Joe of Wooster; two daughters, Wah (Chip) of Wooster and Rose of Columbus; a brother, Yuen (Sim) of Marietta and four grandchildren.

Richard Schneider
MARIETTA -- Richard Clarence "Dick" Schneider, 90, 332 Fourth St., died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2002, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Ambridge, Pa. to Clarence and Freda (Wagner) Schneider and married Catherine Webber on May 31, 1944. She died Dec. 25, 1980.
He is survived by one son, Richard C. Schneider and his wife, Victoria J. Butzer, of Wooster; two daughters, Suzanne Baker and her husband, David, of Marietta and Cathi Voisinet and her husband, Bob, of Marietta; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Detriech of Charleston, W.Va..
Funeral liturgy, with mass, will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Paul Hrezo as celebrant. Burial will be in New St. Mary's Cemetery with military rites.
Friends may call at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. There will be a vigil service at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Marietta Memorial Health Foundation, P.O. Box 97, Marietta or to the St. Vincent dePaul Society, in care of St. Mary's Church.

Galen Burger
BALTIC -- Galen H. Burger, 87, 2392 Township Road 177, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Baltic Church of the Brethren in Baltic with the Rev. Arlen Longanecker officiating. Burial will be at the Brethren Cemetery in Baltic.
Friends may call Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Baltic Church of the Brethren and one hour prior to services on Friday.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Baltic Church of the Brethren.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home in Baltic.
He was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Baltic to Henry F. and Amanda (Infield) Burger and married Pauline Grubbs. She died Aug. 6, 1999.
Surviving are a son, James (Betty) Burger of Baltic; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Peggy) Lawver of Dover; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Joan Young
MEDINA -- Joan L. Young, 66, of Nottingham Court, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Akron General Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Hillcrest Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Noel officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Church of God, P.O. Box 751, Brunswick, or American Cancer Society.
She was born July 29, 1935, in Parkersburg, W.Va., to Raymond and Irene (Cantwell) Daugherty.
Surviving are sons, Robert Huntley of Mansfield, Edward Young of Medina and Vernen (Kim) Young of Davenport, Iowa; daughter, Patricia Young of Medina; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert A. (Shirley) Daugherty of Mansfield and two sisters, Mary Muntz of Brunswick and Naomi (Raymond) Elmerick of Medina.

R. Dean Chapman
KILLBUCK -- R. Dean Chapman, 83, of Killbuck, died Monday evening, March 18, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating. Burial will be at the Killbuck Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7079.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Holmes County, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654.
He was born May 18, 1918, in Clark Township, Coshocton County, and was the son of Walter and Cora (Haun) Chapman. On Dec. 5, 1942, he married Josie Simmons and she survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Josie, are three children and their spouses, Sandra and husband, Jim Tracy of Killbuck, Janie and husband, Tom Patterson of Killbuck, Jeff and wife, Chris Chapman of Coshocton; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Mosher of Wooster and two brothers, Don and wife, Norma Chapman of Killbuck and Walter and wife, Mary Chapman of Coshocton.

Donald McVay Sr.
FRESNO -- Donald Lee McVay Sr., 64, 55818 Township Road 175, and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Given-Dawson, Coshocton, Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Weller officiating. Burial will be at Canal Lewisville Cemetery.
Friends may call tonight (Wednesday) from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
He was born June 17, 1937, in Winfield, W.Va., to Manley and Myrtle (Mason) McVay and married Vada Lucille Priest on Sept. 1, 1956. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Donald L. (Pam) McVay Jr., Daniel O. (Jean) McVay and Dickey J. (Carla) McVay, all of West Lafayette, David W. (Shelly) McVay of Wooster and Dennis W. (Renee) McVay of Uniontown; eight grandchildren; a brother, Manley (Betty) McVay Jr. of Fredericksburg; sisters, Lucille Shaffter and Mozel Yoder, both of Fredericksburg and Daisy Bible of Newcomerstown and several nieces and nephews.

R. Allen Showalter
DOYLESTOWN -- R. Allen "Red" Showalter, 83, 14943 Callaboone Road, Doylestown, died Saturday, March 16, 2002.
Friends will be received at a memorial service on Saturday, March 23, at 11 a.m. at Benedictions, 754 Kenmore Blvd., Akron, (330) 745-1510.
Arrangements are being handled by The Cremation Society of Ohio, Akron.
Mr. Showalter was born in Burnettsville, Ind., in 1918.
He and his wife, Arlene (Fry) were married in Akron in 1942. She died in Aug. 2001.
Surviving are son, Dick and daughter-in-law, Michelle of St. Croix, U.S.V.I., a daughter, Suellen Roberts, son-in-law, Richard Roberts of Akron and daughter, Sally Ann Showalter of Doylestown. Also surviving are a brother, Wayne Showalter of Scottsdale, Arizona and two sisters, Ellen Jenkins of Cuyahoga Falls and Myra Brown of Longansport, Indiana, plus many nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.

Kenneth Zook
RITTMAN -- Kenneth R. Zook, 55, of Rittman, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at his residence, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Zook was born in Wadsworth.
He is survived by wife, Frances, son, Matt of Ypsilanti, Mich.; brother, Michael (Yvonne) of Wadsworth, sister, Debra (James) Hummel of Medina; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robin L. Hart officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Northside Christian Church Building Fund, 1825 Reimer Road, Wadsworth 44281.

James Smith
MILLERSBURG -- James L. Smith, 62, of Millersburg, died Tuesday evening, March 19, 2002, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, following an extended illness.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church of Millersburg with the Rev. John Wanamaker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg with military rites being conducted by the Killbuck Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7079 and the American Legion Post No. 192.
Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home with Masonic services beginning at 7:45 p.m. by the Trinity Masonic Lodge, Canton. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the West Holmes Athletic Department in memory of James Smith, in care of Mike Uhl, 28 W. Jackson St., Millersburg 44654 and/or Faith Lutheran Scholarship Fund, 187 S. Clay St., Millersburg 44654.
He was born Feb. 25, 1940, in Canton, and was the son of William D. and Evelyn (Musser) Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Jill Smith of Cincinnati; his mother, Evelyn Smith of Millersburg; two daughters, Janelle Smith of Millersburg and Jenette Smith of Muncie, Ind.; a brother, Bill Smith and wife, Sylvia of Minot, N.D.; a sister, B.J. Miller and husband, Wade of Millersburg.

Robert Rock
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Robert Ira Rock, 60, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at his home.
Services will be Saturday at noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with James Walsh officiating. Burial will be a Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.
He was born May 10, 1941, in Ravenna, to Ulysses "Skip" and Janet (Fox) Rock and married Jane (Burns) Young on May 27, 2000. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Janet (Curtis) Ransdell of Walton, Ky.; stepson, James (Michelle) Young of Portsmouth, Va.; stepdaughters, Jacquie (Brian) Archer of Hattiesburg, Miss. and Jessica (Michael) Swartz of North Canton; seven grandchildren; his mother, Janet Nime of Akron; sisters, Patricia (Glenn) Anderson of Wooster and Claudia (Art) Moser of Warsaw, Ind. and four nephews.
