Virginia Stinson
MILLERSBURG -- Virginia Ann "Ginny" Stinson, 66, of Millersburg, died Thursday evening, Jan. 16, 2003, at Aultman Hospital in Canton, after an extended illness.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Holmes County Library, 3102 Glen Drive, Millersburg 44654.
She was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Port Clinton to Amos and Alyce (Pieplow) Nielsen and married Robert Lee Stinson on Sept. 17, 1977. He survives.
She had worked at the Holmes County Library, Bookmobile and Home Bound Division and enjoyed needle arts.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are children, Rita Baumgardner of Florida, Mike Lochotzki of Indiana, Betty Biers, Ted Lochotzki, Jane Margison, Carolyn Snyder, Kristi Lochotzki and Amanda Bowman, all of Ohio, and Darlene McMillon of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Charles Nielsen and Mary Miller, both of Ohio.

Emilie Doberstein
MILLERSBURG -- Emilie Ellen Doberstein, 89, of Millersburg, died Friday morning, Jan. 17, 2003, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg, after an extended illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Tom Mishler officiating. Private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born May 16, 1913, in Cleveland to Ludwig and Emma (Uhlik) Novotny and was a graduate of Jane Addams Vocational High School of Nursing.
She lived most of her life in the Cleveland area, and was an artist, musician, vocalist, practical nurse and nanny. She moved to Millersburg in 1970.
Surviving are children, LaVerne Stevens of Lakeland, Fla., and Michael Evanko of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
Her husbands, Michael Evanko and Herbert Doberstein, a brother, Louis Novotny, a stepbrother, Joe Casper and a stepsister, Mamie Hasson, died previously.

Melody Eskins
FRISCO, Texas -- Melody Carolyn (McClaran) Eskins, 54, of Frisco, Texas, died Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2003, at the home of her mother in Mansfield, after an extended illness.
She was the sister of Terry Jones of Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors in Mansfield, with the Rev. Larry Collins officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Park.
Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of God, 1756 Park Ave. W., Mansfield 44906.
She was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Wooster to Marion D. and Jeanne I. (Miller) McClaran and married Spike Eskins. He survives.
Before moving to Texas, Melody lived in Mansfield for 47 years and was employed for 20 years with the Ohio Department of Transportation. She was owner/operator of Melody's Home Enterprises in Texas.
Melody loved being with her family, home decorating, golfing and cooking.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Tawny Warnes of Lexington; granddaughters, Kaitlynn, Kirsten, Vanessa and Kayla; step-grandchildren, Kristie Straley and Jeff Eskins; her mother of Mansfield; a sister, Melinda (Hal) Hornyak of Mansfield; brothers, Ron (Linda) McClaran and Tim (Kathi) McClaran, all of Ontario; nieces and nephews, Erika, Dennise, Kristi, Ryan, Jason, Brock and Xavier; and her lap dog, Gus.
Her father and a brother, Michael J. Christy, died previously.

Noah Schlabach
SUGARCREEK -- Noah M. Schlabach, 72, 1626 State Route 39, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his home after an extended illness.
Services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church in Walnut Creek, with the Rev. Levi Sommers officiating. Burial will be at Raber Cemetery, Walnut Creek Township, Holmes County.
Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County.
He was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Tuscarawas County to Monroe N. and Lizzie Ann (Hostetler) Schlabach and married Katie Miller. She died April 8, 1992. On Aug. 17, 2001, he married Mary Miller. She survives.
He was owner/operator of Schlabach Tillers in Sugarcreek for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are sons, Firman N. (Jenel) Schlabach and Marc N. (LeAnn) Schlabach, both of Sarasota, Fla., and Jim N. Schlabach of Ragersville; stepchildren, Dean (JoAnn) Miller of Dover, Dale (Deb) Miller of Sugarcreek and Mardella (John) Rice of Baltic; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and sisters, Emma (Joe) Miller and Mary Ann Miller, both of Sugarcreek.
In addition to his first wife, a step-grandson, Matt Rice, died previously.

James Smucker
WOOSTER -- James A. Smucker, 63, 1882 Brookside Drive, died Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2003, in Terra Haute, Ind.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church, Wooster, with Pastor Bob Fetterhoff officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Wooster.
Friends may call tonight (Sunday) from 5-9 at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster.
Those who wish may make contributions to Grace Brethren Church, Celebrate Recovery Program, 4599 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born July 25, 1939, in Orrville to Jay and Dorothy (Marsh) Smucker and was a 1957 graduate of Orrville High School. He had served in the U.S. Army and retired from Wooster Motor Ways Inc., after 25 years of service.
He attended Grace Brethren Church and was a member of Ohio Trucking Association.
Surviving are his wife, Ina (Mollohan) Smucker, whom he married Nov. 8, 1999; children, Sue (Mike) Fielding of Hilliard, John (Betsy) Smucker and Robert (Lillian) Smucker, both of Smithville, Christine (Adam) Wilford of Wooster and Mary (Fritz) Schroeder of Millersville, Pa.; stepchildren, Rick Frank of Tampa, Fla., Gary (Lisa) Frank of Creston and Scott Frank of Lodi; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Pat) Smucker of Sterling, Va., Larry (Linda) Smucker of Lakeland, Fla., Kenneth (Judy) Smucker of Sturbridge, Maine, and Bruce (Linda) Smucker of Orrville; and sisters, Barbara (John) Steiner of Orrville and Nancy (Patrick) Block of Bon Aqua, Tenn.
His parents died previously.

James Bennett
WEST SALEM -- James R. Bennett, 69, of West Salem, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Medina General Hospital.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with Pastor Jerry Arman officiating. Burial will be at Hazzard Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 449.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Those who wish may make contributions to Matteson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 314, West Salem 44287, to help defray expenses.
He was born April 7, 1933, in Jumping Branch, W.Va., to William and Opal (Meadows) Bennett. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was owner/operator of Jim's Radio & TV.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Bennett of West Salem; children, Susan (Gary) Herendeen and Robert (Shirley) Bennett, both of West Salem and Vicki (Keith) Davis of Georgia; four grandchildren; his mother of Oberlin; and a sister, Margaret Easterday of Lorain.
His father and a brother, William Bennett, died previously.

Mary Burke
SHIPSHEWANA, Ind. -- Mary E. Burke, 75, 11360 W. 800 North, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at her residence.
She was the mother and mother-in-law of Mettie Pearl and Dan Bowman of Creston and the sister of Arthur Church of Lodi.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Middlebury, Ind., with Pastor Donald Chesher officiating. Burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury, Ind.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 201 S. Main St., Middlebury, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to Goshen General Hospice.
She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Newport, Ky., to Albert and Mettie (Workman) Church and married Verle E. Burke on June 3, 1955, in Canal Fulton. He survives.
She moved to Indiana in 1969 from Ohio and was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Middlebury, Ind., and enjoyed working in her flower gardens and yard.
Other survivors include a son, Jim (Christian) Burke of Shipshewana, Ind.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and two brothers died previously.

Fred Czuprun
NORTH RIDGEVILLE -- Fred Czuprun, 78, formerly of North Ridgeville, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Castle Nursing Home, Millersburg.
He was the brother of Irene Winner of Wooster.
Services will be Tuesday at noon at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where friends may call two hours prior to the services. Entombment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, with the Rev. Ken Tucker officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beth-El Baptist Church, 10170 W. Ridge Road, Elyria.
He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Cleveland to Mytro and Paranka Czuprun and moved to Litchfield in 1934, where he helped operate the family farm. He moved to North Ridgeville, where he lived for 40 years.
He was a pipefitter at the U.S.S. Kope Steel Co. in Lorain from 1945-80 and after retiring was a self-employed truck driver, transporting asphalt for various companies.
He attended Beth-El Baptist Church in Elyria and enjoyed walking and working on his truck.
Surviving in addition to his sister, are stepsons, Charles Dennis of Vermilion and Wayne Dennis of New London; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Czuprun of Brunswick and Ann Seitz of Litchfield; and brothers, William Czuprun of Chagrin Falls and Joe Czuprun of Litchfield.
His wife, Vera Czuprun, died in 1995.

Christine Finney
MILLERSBURG -- Christine Addie Finney, 83, of Millersburg, died Sunday morning, Jan. 19, 2003, at Wooster Community Hospital, after an extended illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Faith Bible Church, with the Rev. Steve Young officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests contributions be made to Faith Bible Church, 7384 County Road 623, Millersburg 44654.
She was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Wood County to Benjamin and Willie (Lovell) Shedron and married Warren Finney on Sept. 12, 1938. He died May 16, 1974.
She was the former owner/operator of Finney's Marathon Station and attended Faith Bible Church.
Surviving are children, William (Connie) Finney of Lorain, Linda (Gary) Barnhart, Dennis (Kay) Finney and Steve (Janice) Finney, all of Millersburg, Sam (Julia) Finney of Crossett, Ark., Ginny (Paul) Miller of Wooster and Tom Finney of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lewis (Helen) Shedron and Richard (Kathy) Shedron, both of Millersburg; and sisters, Ava LaRocca of Independence and June (Fred) Felberg of Newbury.
In addition to her husband, twin infant sisters and brothers, Herman, James, Alfred and Randall Shedron, died previously.

Dale Harris
ORRVILLE -- Dale E. Harris, 75, 307 E. Chestnut St., died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, after a three-month illness.
Memorial services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Richard Ross officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation has taken place.
He was born May 31, 1927, in Canton, to Earl and Lula (Mast) Harris and married Roberta Martin on April 26, 1952, in New Castle, Pa. She survives.
He had made his home in Orrville since 1952, and had worked at the former Orrville Body Co. and Crown Steel Co. In 1989, he retired from Volvo Corp., where he was a supervisor in the painting department.
He was a former member of Orrville Veterans of Foreign Wars and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Robert (Josephine) Harris of Littlestown, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A brother, Robert Lee Harris, died in 1940.

Joseph White
WADSWORTH -- Joseph White, 66, formerly of Wadsworth, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Mound Hill Cemetery, Seville, with Deacon John Buda officiating. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Armstrong-Waite Funeral Home in Seville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.
He was born in Campbellsville, Pa., and had made his home in Medina County for 40 years. He had worked at Ohio Injector in Wadsworth for 25 years and at B.S.I. for 10 years, where he retired.
He was a member of Wadsworth Eagles and enjoyed the outdoors and restoring cars.
Surviving are children, Rex (Kim) White of Crown Point, Ind., Randy (Audrey) White of Wadsworth and Lori (Randy) Fraley of Sterling; grandchildren, Kendel White, Jamie White and Mary Fraley; and his mother-in-law, Jean Buckholdt of Cleveland.
His wife, Mary White, died in February 2001.
