Christine Harrold
MASSILLON -- Christine S. Harrold, of Jackson Township (Massillon), formerly of Kidron, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at Massillon Community Hospital, after a period of declining health.
In following her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services. Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stark County Humane Society, P.O. Box 7077, Canton 44705.
She was born in Canton to John C. and Lyda (Vail) Syler and married Walter C. "Bud" Harrold Jr. He survives.
She had lived most of her life in Jackson Township and was a graduate of the former Lehman High School in Canton.
She was a member of McDonaldsville St. Paul United Methodist Church and Stark County Farm Bureau.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are daughters, Ellen (Thomas) Cassidy, Laurel (Stan) Shaffer and Lynn (Dan) Stott, all of Jackson Township and Lisa (Paul) Lucas of Lima; five grandchildren; and a brother, J. Thomas (Mary) Syler of Alliance.
Her parents, a brother, James Syler and stepmother, Ann Syler, died previously.

Roger Steiner
ASHLAND -- Roger E. Steiner, 63, of Lee Avenue, died Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2003, at Samaritan Regional Health System, after a brief illness.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland, with the Rev. Ken Carl officiating. Burial will be at Nankin Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Eagles Lodge 2178 will hold services at 8:30 p.m.
He was born April 1, 1939, in Ashland to Franklin E. and Alice E. Steiner and married Penny Ritchey on May 6, 1961. She survives.
He was a resident of Ashland County all of his life and worked at his father's gas station, Steiner's Mobil for 23 years, before going to work for the City of Ashland Sanitation Department. He retired from there two years ago. He was a volunteer firefighter for Nankin and had a softball team from 1964-83.
He was a member of Nankin Federated Church, Ashland Eagles 2178 and Patriotic Cruiser Car Club.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Roxann (Robert "Bob") Bragdon, Robin (Gary) Hofer and Ryan (Tamie) Steiner, all of Ashland; grandchildren, Rachael and Nathan Steiner; step-grandchildren, Charity, Dale Jr., Cory, Dustin, Daniel and Kimberly; a step-great-grandchild, Dylan; his father of Nankin; and sisters, Janet (Harold) LeFever of Frazeysburg and Sandy Dull of Nankin.
His mother died in 1995 and a sister, Rochelle Steiner in 1973.

Myron Boyd
KILLBUCK -- Myron Dean "Smokey" Boyd, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, after an extended illness.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany from 1949-1951.
He graduated from Clark School in 1947 and started Boyd Manufacturing in 1961 building "Schooner" campers in Navarre, Ohio. He returned to the area in 1971 with his family.
Mother Viola and father Oscar E. preceded him in death, as did two brothers, Oscar E. and Hilton E. Boyd.
He is survived by his widow, Doris, son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Rose Ann, daughter, Diana, brothers, Gerald from Canal Fulton, sister, Joanne Guthrie from Clark, six loving grandchildren, Mary, Iva, Denise, Amy, Sam Boyd and Brock Lamp and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Killbuck United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jim Cooper officiating.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2003, at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg.
The family suggests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, N.Y. 10163 or National Parkinson's Foundation, Inc., Development Department, in care of Lois Heffernan of Julian Pearson, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33136-1494.

Jan Conn
WOOSTER -- Jan Conn, 68, 2011 Burbank Road, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 2, 2003, at her residence.
Memorial services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Robert Fetterhoff officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel, Wooster.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691 or to Grace Brethren Church, 4599A Burbank Road, Wooster 44691.
She was born August 26, 1934 in Wooster to Hubert and Bessie (Henderson) Payne. She married Jack Conn on September 29, 1951. He survives.
She worked for F.J. Designs for 15 years.
She was a member of The Grace Brethren Church. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she will be deeply missed by children, Jackie Saunders of Fort Myers, Florida and Jill (Kevin) Kane of Wooster; grandchildren, Ryan, Melanie and Brooke Saunders and Jenny and Jeremy Kane and sisters, Cynthia (Pete) Armstrong of Wooster and Sheryl Payne of Mansfield.

Marjorie Foster
ORRVILLE -- Marjorie E. "Marge" Foster, 78, 814 N. Vine St., went to be with the Lord on Monday morning, February 3, 2003, at Doctor's Hospital, Massillon, following a one-week illness.
Services will be held at the Orrville Baptist Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brad Dews officiating. Burial will take place at Sherwood Memorial Gardens near Wooster.
Friends may call at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak St., Orrville, on Wednesday, from 6-8:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Orrville Baptist Church, 204 Bell Avenue, Orrville 44667.
She was born April 26, 1924 in Rittman, the daughter of William E. and Nellie S. (Schindler) Luikart. In 1933 her family moved to Seville, where she completed her education at Seville High School. She was united in marriage to George Leonard Foster Sr. on July 20, 1946 in Seville. He died April 21, 1983.
Prior to her marriage she had been employed at the Ohio Injector Co. in Wadsworth and the Dolly Madison Co. in Medina.
Marge and her husband, Leonard started the Orrville Baptist Church in their former home on Westwood Avenue in Orrville in 1953. She was the last remaining charter member of the church. Over the past 50 years she had served as the church secretary, treasurer and pianist.
Marge devoted her life to both her family and her extended church family. She will be missed for her generosity and her prayers.
She is survived by a daughter, Dee (Joe) Spinks of Orrville; two sons, George (Betty) Foster Jr. of Baytown, Texas and Joseph "Joe" (Debbie) Foster of Dalton; six grandchildren, Traci Shanks of Orrville, Betsey (John) Ennis of Houston, Texas, Steven (Sandra) Foster of Houston, Texas, Lori Shanks of Wooster, Maricarmen Foster of Baytown, Texas and Jonathan Foster of Baytown, Texas and a sister, Doris Baum of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Marcene Johnson
DOYLESTOWN -- Marcene Johnson, 84, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Doylestown Health Care Center.
There will be private family services. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
She was born August 29, 1918 in Akron to William E. and Mildred A. (Roberts) Bush.
She was a resident of Doylestown and member of Zion Lutheran Church.
She retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in 1976 with 34 and 1/2 years of service.
She was a member of Doylestown American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by brother, Frank (Betty) Bush of Norton; sisters, Helen Brown of Cleveland, Doris Galehouse of Arizona; sister-in-law, Pat Bush of Doylestown; brother-in-law, John Naglic of Doylestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Johnson, a son, John C. Johnson, three brothers, Jake, Don, and Richard Bush and sister, Betty Ann Naglic.

Ross Wise
ENON -- Ross E. Wise, 70, of Enon, died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2003, at home.
He was born March 26, 1932 in New Philadelphia, the son of Luther A. and Maggie L. Wise.
He was a caring, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
His wife of 50 years as of March 1, Carolyn (Welsheimer) Wise survives him. Also surviving him are four sons, William (Cindy) Wise of Clinton, Utah, Robert A. (Robyn) Wise of Enon, James E. (Stephanie) Wise of Glendale, Arizona and Jeffery L. Wise of Enon; six grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Kourtney, Katie, Justin and Tiffney; four brothers, Fred Wise of Waterboro, South Carolina, James Wise of Millersburg, George Wise of Wooster, Kenneth Wise of Burbank; sisters, Elsie McKeal of Wooster, Gertrude Baer of Orrville, and Hazel Willet of Greenwich; his mother-in-law, Margaret L. Welsheimer of Enon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, John, Roy, Frank and Charles and father-in-law, William F. Weisheimer.
Mr. Wise was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Mad River Township.
He was an avid Greenon High School sport fan and gardener.
Friends may call in the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home, 1002 E. High St., Springfield from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor James Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Ruth Beatty
RITTMAN -- Ruth M. Beatty, 80, of Rittman, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her home.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-5 p.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home, 360 W. Sunset Drive, Rittman.
There will be no services and burial will be in Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
She was born June 16, 1922 in Sharpsville, Pa. to Karl and Cora (Zaras) Eberhardt and lived in Cleveland before moving to Rittman two years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Jack Hallison of Cleveland; daughters, Dallas Yearick of Rittman and Bert Diedrichs of Painesville; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Her first husband, Charles Hallison died in 1961 and her second husband, Thomas Beatty died Oct. 18, 2002.

Clarence Moritz
MOUNT VERNON -- Clarence J. Moritz, 77, of Mount Vernon, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster with the Rev. Patrick Henry officiating. Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Wooster.
Friends may call Saturday from 3-5 p.m. at North-Dilley Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Prayer Service will be Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call Monday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church.
He was born Sept. 9, 1925 in Wooster to Leo and Cora (Besancon) Moritz.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, earning the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon (2 Stars), the Philippine Liberation Ribbon (2 Stars) and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Loyal Order of Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AMVETS, all of Mount Vernon.
Surviving are a sister, Catherine Durbin of Danville and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, Lawrence, Gerald and Francis Moritz and three sisters, Evelyn Schafrath, Mildred Fesler and Mary Moritz, died previously.

Lydiann Troyer
SUGARCREEK -- Lydiann Troyer, 94, 2535 Township Road 166, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Services will be Friday at 9 a.m. at her residence, with Bishop Melvin J. Miller officiating. Burial will be at Troyer Cemetery, Holmes County, Clark Township.
Friends may call anytime today (Wednesday) and Thursday at the residence, 2535 Township Road 166.
Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Geib Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
She was born Jan. 18, 1909 in Plain City to Abe B. and Sovilla (Miller) Yoder.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are her husband, John A. Troyer, whom she married Dec. 11, 1930; four sons, Ivan J. (Gladys) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Henry J. (Elsie) Troyer of Springfield, Mo. Norman J. (Mary) Troyer of Sugarcreek, Syl J. (Betty) Troyer of Dover; three daughters, Mabel Miller, Louella Troyer, Cora (Andy) Miller, all of Millersburg; 25 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ben Yoder of Walnut Creek, Levi (Emma) Yoder of Jamesport, Mo., John (Sarah) Yoder of Fredericksburg and two sisters, Lizzie (Yost) Miller of Berlin and Katie (Jonas) Kurtz of Jamesport, Mo.
Four children, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister, died previously.

Howard DeWalt
AKRON -- Howard Albert DeWalt, 83, of Akron, entered into rest, Sunday evening, Feb. 2, 2003, at Massillon Community Hospital, Massillon, following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3233 Akron Road, Wooster. A private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, Wooster, is handling arrangements.
Mr. DeWalt was born April 7, 1919 in Green Township (Akron) to Dennis and Lilly (Ritzman) DeWalt and has been an Akron resident for most of his life.
He married Catherine Grace Bond on July 12, 1941. She entered into rest in 1999.
He worked as a machinist for many years before retiring in 1986.
He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1939 and was a loyal active member in the Christian congregation his entire life.
He enjoyed daily Bible reading, visiting others and discussing the good news of God's kingdom and other Bible topics. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by daughter, Frances (Harry) Carr of Orrville; three grandchildren, Randal (Donna) Carr, David (Angela) Carr and Michelle (Joshua) Wright and great-granddaughter, Erika Carr.
In addition to his loving wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Arthur and Glenn DeWalt.
