DOYLESTOWN -- Harold W. Theken, Sr., age 71, of Doylestown, died Thursday, March 26. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with Pastor Stephen Kummernuss officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association Ohio Affiliate Inc., Northeast Ohio Service Center, 225 W. Exchange St., Akron 44302 or to American Heart Association, Wayne County Branch, P.O. Box 267, Wooster 44691. Surviving in addition to his former wife, Marilyn (Pitz) Theken of Barberton are children, Harold W. Theken, Jr. of Orange City, Fla. and Deborah Theken of Barberton; two granddaughters; and sisters, Donna Baltic and Linda Wilson, both of Barberton.

Elsie Johnson
RITTMAN -- Elsie I. Johnson, 86, 382 N. Main St., died Friday, March 27, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Ron Heasley officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce Haumesser of Rittman; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Pauline Underwood of Lodi.

Hazel Kurtz
NAVARRE -- Hazel M. Kurtz, 86, of Navarre, died Thursday evening, March 26, at Doctors Hospital in Massillon following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster, with Pastor William Andrick officiating. Burial will be in the Massillon Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn (Robert) Kellman and Lydia (Michael) Hug both of Navarre; five grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Kellman, Michelle (Drew) Clauser, Robyn (David) Lowe, Suzanne (Paul) Snyder, and William Hug; five great-grandchildren.

Nellie Beller
KILLBUCK -- Nellie Mae Beller, 93, of Killbuck died Friday, March 27, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, with Minister Dale Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Wolfe Creek Cemetery (Pleasant Valley Cemetery). Friends may call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home. Surviving are a nephew, Clyde J. Lowe of Millersburg; two great-nephews, Bryan Lowe of Coshocton and Steven Lowe of Killbuck; one great niece, Vanessa Dahlstein of Clinton; and one sister, Pearl L. Beller of Killbuck.

Roy Riggenbach
EAST SPARTA -- Roy A. Riggenbach, 77, of East Sparta, died Thursday, March 26 in Aultman Hospital after being ill since June. Graveside services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, with Don Phelps officiating. Friends may call at the residence any time. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Sparta Fire Department. Surviving in addition to his wife, Dorothy L. Riggenbach, are children, Bonnie Gerbec of Redding, Calif., Mary Anne Riggenbach of Fredericksburg, and Roger Riggenbach of Wadsworth, two step daughters and step sons-in-law, Sue and Richard Freitag, and Ann and John Lightfoot, all of East Sparta; two step sons and step daughters-in-law, Don and Shirley Rice of North Canton, and James "Buddy" and Jean Rice of Belpre; five sisters, Louise Spangler, Laura Appliger, Tillie Saurer, and Alma Curie, all of Rittman, and Doris Smith of Orrville; one brother, Alvin Riggenbach of Mansfield; two grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Wanda Nichols
CRESTON -- Wanda Oleda Nichols, 67, of Creston, died Friday evening, March 27, at Rittman Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy illness. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Carl Wilson Funeral Home in Clay, W.Va. with the Rev. Dennis Legg officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Bickmore, W.Va. Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the Carl Wilson Funeral Home in Clay, W.Va. Local arrangements are being handled by Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Surviving are her husband, Shady F. Nichols of Creston; two sons, Michael Ramsey of Ashland and Terry Ramsey of Ivydale, W.Va.; two daughters, Teri Baker and Linda Nichols, both of Orrville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Roma Davis of Lake Wales, Fla., Thelma Jones of Clay, W.Va., Juanita Legg of Fola, W.Va. and Bonnie Price of Dry Branch, Ky., and five brothers, Burnell Ramsey of Salisbury, N.C., David Ramsey of Hinesville, Ga., James Ramsey of Sterling, Larry Ramsey of Clay, W.Va. and Mike Ramsey of Cortland, N.Y.

Jacqueline Sleeth
DOYLESTOWN -- Jacqueline H. Sleeth, 74, of Doylestown, died Friday, March 27, 1998. There will be private family services. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Center of Akron. A special thanks to Home Heroes. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Bill Adams of Muscat, Oman, Rebecca and David Deeser of Doylestown, Nancy and Terry Lindeman of Doylestown; grandson, T.J. Lindeman; step-grandson, Beau Lindeman; and special friend, Tim Stefan of Doylestown.

Shirley 'Bea' Bishop
WADSWORTH -- Shirley R. "Bea" Bishop, 65, of Wadsworth, died Sunday, March 29, at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with the Rev. Harold L. Swafford officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Seville. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are children and their spouses, Dan and Debbie Bishop of Wadsworth, Larry and Donna Bishop and Ron and Carolyn Bishop, all of Rittman, Gary and Mary Bishop of Norton, Elaine and Kent Morrison of Butler and Barb and Dave Scheufler of Valley City; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; brothers and their spouses, Charles "Bill" and Alma Brooks, Earl "Tom" and Janice Brooks and Jim Brooks, and a sister, Mrs. Bob (Jean) Hartz, all of Shelby.

Robert Leopold
ORRVILLE -- Robert M. Leopold, 82, 558 Lehman St., Orrville, died Sunday, March 29, at his residence after a period of declining health. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Orrville, with the Rev. Walter Jordan officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7:30-9 p.m. at the church, where Masonic services will be held at 7 p.m., or one hour prior to the services. Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville. Memorial contributions may be made to Augsburg Lutheran Church, 140 W. Water St., Orrville 44667; or to Crippled Children's Fund, in care of Al Koran Temple, 1000 Edgerton Road, Broadview Heights 44147. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sharon Leopold of Orrville and a daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Peter Fynn of Three Rivers, Calif.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Penny and James Bowers of Orrville and stepdaughter, Paula Colussi of Medina; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Grover Leopold of Venice, Fla.; and a half-brother, Franklin Leopold of Louisville.

Rodney Eggeman
ORRVILLE -- Rodney A. Eggeman, 38, 609 McGill St., Orrville, died Friday evening, March 27, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church near Marshallville, with the Rev. Tom Fox officiating. Burial will be at the church Cemetery, where military rites will take place. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. Surviving are his mother of Orrville; a brother, R. John Eggeman of Dalton; and a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Eric Yates of Wooster.

Roger Proper Sr.
MILLERSBURG -- Roger D. Proper Sr., 49, of Millersburg, died Sunday, March 29, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Millersburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karl Stonebraker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, in care of Lucille Horn, 264 S. Clay St., Millersburg 44654. Surviving are his wife, Sarah (Crissey) Proper, whom he married March 12, 1988; children, Roger D. Proper Jr. and Michelle Y. Proper, both of Nashville and Bess of the home; his mother of Millersburg; and brothers, Ron L. (Shirley) Proper Sr. of Millersburg and Floyd (Susan) Proper Jr. of Shreve.

John Hershberger
MILLERSBURG -- John S. Hershberger, 71, of Millersburg, died Saturday, March 28, at Sunset View Skilled Nursing Home, after a short illness. Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Henry Hershberger residence, 7739 County Road 189, Holmesville, where friends may call anytime. Bishop Raymond Hochstetler officiating. Burial will be at the Hershberger Cemetery, Prairie Township. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Rebecca) Riehl of Donna, Texas; and a brother, Raymond Cordray of Canton.

Al Zimmerer
WOOSTER -- Al Zimmerer, 80, 2255 Christmas Run, Wooster, died Sunday, March 29, at Wooster Community Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Peter's Church Cemetery in Loudonville. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 109, Wooster 44691. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Susan Wise of Roanoke, Va., and Linda Zimmerer, of Wooster, a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Kayla Zimmerer of Wooster and a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Leon Stute of Columbus; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Catherine Gessic
LODI -- Catherine D. Gessic, 80, of Lodi, died Saturday, March 28, at Magnolia Care & Rehabilitation Center in Wadsworth. There will be no services. Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi Community Hospital, 225 Elyria St., Lodi 44254. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Eraina Gessic of Lodi.

William Tisher Jr.
WOOSTER -- William Tisher Jr., 81, 1639 Oakwood Circle, Wooster, died Saturday afternoon, March 28, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Creston Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James K. McCurdy officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Kathleen M. Tisher and a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy R. and David R. Bertsch, all of Wooster; four grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.

Pauline Giles
NORTON -- Pauline (Breitenstine) Giles, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 1998, after a sudden illness. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bacher Funeral Home, 3250 Greenwich Road, Norton, with the Rev. Dwight Strickland officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Norman; grandchildren, Michael (Tricia) Norman, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Hammitt, Marge, Crystal and Billy Norman; great-grandchildren, Michael Antony Norman, Jacob Andrew Hammitt and Debrah Joy Norman; a brother, Paul (Helen) Breitenstine; sisters, Sylvia (Paul) McNeil and Elfie (Randy) Salisbury; a special friend, Bernie Doyle; and several relatives in the Wooster area.

WEST SALEM -- Donna Taylor Gallatin, 62, 11390 Rainbow Highway, died Tuesday, March 24, from lung cancer. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y., with the Rev. Judith Burrows officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Ross Funeral Home in Akron. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Surviving are her husband, John Gallatin; and a son, Andrew Gallatin of West Salem.

Galena Henderson
MILLERSBURG -- Galena B. Henderson, 92, of Millersburg, died Monday morning, March 30, 1998, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg, after an extended illness. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Dan DeHass officiating. Burial will be at Milfork Valley Cemetery, Coshocton. Surviving are daughters, Rita Smith of Millersburg and Mrs. Royal (Ladonna) Hall of Mount Vernon; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. William (Marsha) Cox of Naples, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Emily (Markley) Klosick of West Lafayette.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Jerry Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery.
