Frank Simmons
ORRVILLE -- Frank D. Simmons, 76, 179 Chateau Circle, died Monday evening, Sept. 13, 1999, at his residence, following a short illness.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Jack Westfall officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, where military rites will be conducted.
Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
He married Hazel Jean Webb on June 17, 1948. She died Feb. 8, 1959. He married Anna Smith on Nov. 4, 1962. She died on July 4, 1998.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Vicki Simmons and Jerry and Browna Simmons of Orrville; six daughters, Mrs. Jim (Sandy) Nichols and Mrs. Frank (Patsy) Balser of Ripley, W.Va., Mrs. Tom (Barbara) Fitro of Mineral Wells, W.Va., Mrs. Edward (Rita) Windhurst of Orrville, Mrs. Darius (Debbie) Hall of Wooster, and Mrs. Richard (DeAnn) Crabtree of Canton; 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hal and Sheila Simmons of Poca, W.Va. and Garland and Lenore Simmons of St. Albans, W.Va., and a sister, Roberta Sampson of Orrville.

Rev. Charles Schaffter
EAST CANTON -- Rev. Charles A. Schaffter, 82, of East Canton, died unexpectedly Monday evening at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the East Canton Church of God with Pastor James L. Snyder officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery in Rittman.
Friends may call Thursday 6-9 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are being handled by Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton.
He was the son of Clifford E. and Wilma (Halliwell) Schaffter.
Surviving are his wife, Belva (Dodds), whom he married Sept. 17, 1944; a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Rev. Ray Bradway of Bedford, Ind.; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Beth Schaffter of Anderson, Ind; four grandchildren, Carla Bradway of Bedford, Ind. and her fiance, Trevis Hutchinson and Kevin Bradway, all of Bedford Ind., Andrea and Lauren Schaffter of Anderson, Ind.; two brothers, Eugene Schaffter of Shreve and Dale Schaffter of West Salem and a sister, Marcene Cutright of Seville.

Howard Conn
WINTERVILLE, Ga. -- Howard Conn, 67, 275 Smokey Road, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999.
He was the brother of Robert Conn of Wooster.
Services will be this morning (Saturday) at 11 at Word of Life Congregational Holiness Church in Colbert, Ga., where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Athens Memory Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East.
Other survivors include his wife, Mary Aaron Conn; children, Rhonda Rawlins of Atlanta, Judy A. Conn and Randall Conn, both of Winterville, Ga.; three grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Mary Alameida and Bill Streett of Haleiwa, Hawaii; a sister, Dorothy Holzapfel of Fayetteville, N.C.; brothers, Theodore Conn of Evansville, Ind., and Wilford Conn of Absecan, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Casper Schmidt
VALLEY CITY -- Casper John Schmidt, 89, West River Road, Valley City, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999.
He was the father and father-in-law of Noreen and Dale Miller of Wooster.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Valley City with the Rev. Dennis Murawski officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery in Valley City.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Bauer Funeral Home, 2089 Columbia Road, Valley City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Valley City .
Surviving in addition to his daughter and son-in-law are his wife, Ida (Lang) Schmidt, to whom he had been married 26 years; a son, Kenneth Schmidt of Cleveland; other daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Kermit Kuhl of Levittown, Pa. and Linda and John Lucas of Medina; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Leonard Jones
ASHLAND -- Leonard Lisle Jones, 86, 622 Center St., died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Good Shepherd Home in Ashland, after a long illness.
Services will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at Heyl Funeral Home in Ashland with the Rev. Bud Sprague officiating.
Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born March 28, 1913 in Ashland to Lisle and Belle (Berry) Jones.
Surviving are his wife Evelyn Jones, whom he married in February of 1982; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Alan and Sandy Jones of Lakewood, Calif. and Phillip and Carolyn Jones of Durham, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and David Ruhlin of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia; two brothers, Clair Jones of Wooster and Stanley Jones of West Salem and two sisters, Norma Repp and Mrs. Ralph (Margaret) Kishbaugh, both of Ashland.

John Croskey
LODI -- John W. Croskey, 85, of Lodi, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Road, Homer Township. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Parker and Son Funeral Home in Lodi.
Family requests, for those who desire, donations to the Zion Lutheran Church, 8439 River Corners Road, Homerville 44235.
Surviving are his wife Wilma (Billman) Croskey of Lodi; daughters and sons-in-law, Eloise and Bob Rice and Carolyn and Darrell Waite, all of Medina and three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Brandon and Catherine Waite.

Gene Daniel
DOYLESTOWN -- Gene E. Daniel, 76, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with Dr. David Tennant, Rev. Lynn Garth and Rev. Blake Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Masonic services will be Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gene Daniel Community Center, c/o Village Hall, 24 S. Portage St., Doylestown 44230 or to Chippewa Township Emergency Medical Service, 464 Gates St., Doylestown 44230.
Gene married Margaret Faye Abel of Orrville on December 20, 1944.
Gene and Margaret have been married for 54 years and have four children. Children and their spouses are Sherry and Fred Wells of Minot, N.D., Thomas and Judy Daniel of Highland Heights, Jeanne and Reza Akhavan of Avon Lake and MariJane and Michael Brown of Doylestown. They have six grandchildren. Gene also has a younger brother Sheldon Daniel Jr. and his wife, Margaret of Bradenton, Fla. and a younger sister, Maryleah and her husband, Walt Adair of Franklin, N.C.

Ralph 'Sonny' Kinsey
SUGARCREEK -- Ralph "Sonny" Kinsey, 57, 8648 Crooked Run Road, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999 at 1:10 a.m. at Morning View Care Center in New Philadelphia, after an extended illness.
Private family services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Glenn Shedlock officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek.
Family viewing will be Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Tuscarawas County or the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
Surviving are three sisters, Grayce Ebert of Coshocton, Mrs. Carl (Shirley) Gilmore and Mrs. Virgil (Carole) Plants, both of Gnadenhutten; four brothers, Daniel (Kate) Kinsey of Bakersville, David Kinsey and Robert Dean Kinsey, both of Baltic and Richard Kinsey of New Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.

Chalmers Kuchta
WOOSTER -- Chalmers W. Kuchta, 79, 1457 Rumbaugh Circle, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital.
Service of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home, Sherwood Chapel. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
There will be no calling hours.
He married Agnes M. Melgun on May 2, 1942. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, William Kuchta of Wooster and a grandson.

Irma Orr
WOOSTER -- Irma E. Orr, 91, of Wooster, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Smithville-Western Care Center, where she had been a resident since March, 1999.
Private graveside services will take place at Prairie Township Cemetery in Holmesville at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home in Wooster.
She married Raymond C. Orr on Feb. 4, 1928 in Wooster. He passed away July 23, 1987.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Merle T. and Mary L. Orr of West Salem; a daughter, Norma Jean Orr of Wooster; four grandchildren, Janet, Julie, James and Elaine and two great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Cameron.

Goldie Presock
WEST SALEM -- Goldie M. (Massie) Presock, 72, of West Salem, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Lodi Community Hospital in Lodi.
Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with the Rev. Paul Matte officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Matteson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 314, West Salem 44287, to help defray expenses.
Surviving are her husband, James Presock, whom she married Jan. 2, 1964; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Robert Burgan and Jodi and James Jenkins, all of West Salem; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a sister, Evelyn Massie of Burbank.

Lena Zollars
STILLWELL -- Lena Zollars, 94, of Shreve, and formerly of Stillwell, died Sunday evening, Sept. 12, 1999, at the Wayne County Care Center, Wooster.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg with Dan Kirtlan officiating. Burial will be at Wolf Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
She married Glen W. Zollars on July 26, 1924. He died Nov. 28, 1986.
Surviving are two children, Marvin L. Zollars of Wooster and Mary Margaret Williard Hartman of Big Prairie; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Helen Raupach
DOYLESTOWN -- Helen Elinor Raupach, 84, of Smithville-Western Care Center, formerly of Doylestown, died Sept. 13, 1999.
Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Hill Cemetery with Dr. David Tennant officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691.

Paul Hartzler
ORRVILLE -- Paul E. Hartzler, 91, formerly of OrrVilla Drive, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after a long illness.
Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Burial of the ashes will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.
There will be no calling hours.
He married Ellen Schrag on Nov. 25, 1933. She survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a nephew, Rex Hartzler of Worthington and four nieces, Marjean Chastain of Wooster, Jean Gerber of Tempe, Ariz., Joy Gardner of Arlington Heights, Ill. and Jean Steward of Destin, Fla.

Richard Gray
MILLERSBURG -- Our beloved Richard Parkinson Gray, 579 E. Jackson St. in Millersburg, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Aultman Hospital following complications that resulted from a previous illness. He was 75.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Julia (Snyder); sisters, Patsy Miller and Marilyn Lydic; brother, Ralph Gray; children, Laura Magistro, Jerry Gray and Teresa Mackey; sons-in-law, Tony Magistro and David Mackey; grandchildren, Dustin, Aaron and Andrew Gray, Rachel and Caleb Mackey, Nicole and Aubrey Magistro; and great-granddaughter, Kristina Gray.
Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, 8612 State Route 39 in Millersburg. Funeral services will be at Alexander Funeral Home Wednesday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery with military rights being conducted by Millersburg American Legion Post 192. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Millersburg Lions Club or the Holmes County Library in memory of Richard P. Gray.

Wilmer 'Bill' Lang
MEDINA -- Wilmer W. "Bill" Lang, 69, of Medina, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at his home in Medina.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St., with Dr. Teresa Dulyea Parker officiating.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, where Masonic Service will be held Tuesday evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Medina High School Athletic Fund, c/o Medina High School, 777 E. Union St., Medina 44256.
Surviving are his wife Shirley (Grosjean) Lang of Medina, to whom he had been married for 44 years; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Robert Edie of Medina; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Carri Lang of Medina; grandchildren, Marcus and Kristen and a brother, Owen Lang of Wooster.
