LAKEVILLE -- Donald Middleton, 70, 14843 Township Road 211, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Del Connor officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery with military services conducted by the Loudonville American Legion. Friends may call Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve. He married Barbara Reed September 11, 1954. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Gloria and Chet Myers of Jacksonville, Fla., Deborah and Todd Windsor of Wooster, Alan and Missy Middleton of Shreve, Donald Craig Middleton, Melissa and Steve Wiebe of Lakeville and Nicole Middleton and Natasha Middleton, both of Lakeville; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Middleton of Wooster and Les Middleton of Arkansas and three sisters Margaret Musselman of Wooster, Shirley Morris of Ashland and Bev Fligler of Loudonville.

Rosemary Brown
MANSFIELD -- Rosemary May Brown, 84, formerly of Lakewood Drive, died Friday afternoon, May 7, 1999, at the home of her granddaughter, Melissa A. Doan in Wooster, following a short illness. Services will be held today (Sunday) at 1 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home in Mansfield with Steve Doan officiating. A committal service will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Fellowship Church, 365 Straub Road East, Mansfield and may be made at the funeral home. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel D. and Livonia Brown of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, James R. May of Mansfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eloise Tracy
ORRVILLE -- Eloise C. Tracy, 82, 11185 Old Lincolnway, died Friday evening, May 7, 1999, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville, following a long period of declining health. Services will be Tuesday, May 11, 1999 at 1 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Dr. David Baker and the Rev. Steve Flack officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1556 Rex Drive, Orrville 44667. She married Albert D. Tracy on August 19, 1947 in Rowsburg. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband, Albert Tracey are a son and his wife, Donald E. and Darlene Tracy of Ravenna; daughter and husband, Sharon and Robert Hollwager of Orrville; four grandchildren, Arianna Hollwager, Aaron Hollwager, Adam Hollwager and Jack Tracy and a step-grandson, Sam Kingsbury.

Miriam Kauffman
FREDERICKSBURG -- Miriam D. Kauffman, infant daughter of Dan and Mary (Yoder) Kauffman, 4133 County Road 229, died Saturday, May 8, 1999, shortly after birth at the Mount Eaton Care Center. Graveside services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the Miller Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Holmes County with Bishop Roy E. H. Miller officiating. Friends may call Sunday evening at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton. Surviving in addition to her parents are two sisters, Clara and Rosanna Kauffman, both of the home; a brother, Emery Kauffman of the home; grandparents, Ben and Emma Kauffman of Fredericksburg and Eli and Clara Yoder of Apple Creek and great-grandparents, Ervin L. Weaver of Fredericksburg and Dan and Ida Yoder of Apple Creek.

Harold Kershner
LOUDONVILLE -- Harold R. Kershner, 57, 6299 Holmes County Road 230, died Friday evening, May 7, 1999, at the home of his son in Ontario, after an extended illness. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville with the Rev. Virgil Sheriff officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Perrysville. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1605 County Road 1095, Ashland 44805. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Daryl and Dawn Kershner of Ontario; Roger Kershner, Michael and Tiffany Kershner and Steven Kershner, all of Mansfield; four grandchildren; five brothers, Charles and Tom Kershner, both of Perrysville, Fred and David Kershner, both of Mansfield and Robert Kershner of Butler; two sisters, Roxie Owens of Loudonville and Nancy Kershner of Perrysville and his fiancee, Donna Petty of Perrysville.

Judy Bise
WOOSTER -- Judy L. Bise, 48, of 1072-C N. Geyer's Chapel Road, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Wooster Community Hospital. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman, with James A. Foster officiating. Her body will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Unit, care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691. She was born March 9, 1951 in Wadsworth. Surviving are her husband, Robert; her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Harry Johnson of Rittman; a sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Boyd Breece of Rittman; and a niece and nephew.

Robert Turner
ORRVILLE -- Robert W. Turner, 89, of 1926 Lynn Drive, died Thursday evening, May 6, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center, Orrville, following a long illness. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Revs. Tom Ledford and Paul Wysocki officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Stark/Wayne Chapters, 4916 Hills and Dales Road N.W., Canton 44708 and the American Red Cross, Wayne County Chapter, 124 N. Walnut St., Wooster 44691. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 22, 1909 in Orrville to James W. and Amber J. (Gray) Turner and married Mildred M. "Mid" Bishop on July 3, 1936 in Wellsburg, W.Va. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Roger Baker of Orrville and Marcia and Charles Hathaway of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a brother, Kenneth Turner of Orrville.

Helen Rickel
LODI -- Helen C. Rickel, 95, of Lodi, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at the Ohio Pythian Home in Medina. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parker and Son Funeral Home, 210 Medina St., Lodi, with the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will follow at West Salem Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi United Methodist Church, 320 Medina St., Lodi 44254. She was born Nov. 14, 1903 in West Salem to William and May (Hoff) Rickel. Surviving are a sister, Dorcas Zsarnay of Lodi, and three brothers, Harold Rickel of Elyria, William (Florence) Rickel of Bellevue, and Arthur (Ann) Rickel of Mogadore.

Robert Villard
BREWSTER -- Robert W. Villard, 89, formerly of Mohican St., Brewster, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at Wayne County Care Center in Wooster. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Massillon Cemetery, with the Rev. Rufus Thompson officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. He was born on March 5, 1910 in Beach City to Melvin W. and Margaret E. (Cotton) Villard. Surviving are a nephew of Wooster.

The Rev. Jack Sersig
WEST SALEM -- Rev. Jack L. Sersig, 73, of 6601 Congress Road, died Friday, May 7, 1999, at his residence. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in New Pittsburg, with the Revs. Jonathan Eilert, Marcus Miller, and Robert Hanson officiating. Memorial services will be Sunday, May 16, at 5 p.m. at Bethleham Lutheran Church, 3740 Mayfield Road, Cleveland Heights. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster, and one hour prior to services on Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago or to the Augustina Heritage Fund, 1100 E. 55th St., Chicago, Ill. 60615. He was born Dec. 2, 1925 in Moline, Ill. to Louis and Bernice (Malmloff) Sersig and married Margery Caradine on June 3, 1947. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Nan Sersig of Congress Township, Wayne County; Dr. Beth Brandt Sersig and her husband, Dr. Christopher Brandt of Cleveland Heights, Audrey Sersig Walker and her husband, Stephen of Chesterland, and a son-in-law, Dr. John Daniels of Bay Village; 10 grandchildren, Stewart, Steven, Kate, Molly, Conlin, Alan, Jane, Anna, Eric and Andrew, and a sister, Janice Jackson of Moline, Ill.

Bertha Behmer
ORRVILLE -- Bertha Lee Behmer, 100, formerly of Chateau Circle, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville. Graveside services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington. There will be no calling hours. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, is handling arrangements. She was born June 20, 1898 in Columbus to Theodore and Myrtle (Roberts) Lee and married A. Earl Smith. He died previously. On Sept. 21, 1979, she married Charles Behmer. He died in October of 1982. Surviving are a niece, Irene Leisey of Orrville; and several grandnieces and nephews.

Joseph Jackson
ORRVILLE -- Joseph "Joe" Jackson, 58, 1801 Viking Ave., died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital in Orrville. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at True Church House of Prayer in Orrville, with the Revs. Joseph Outlaw and Homer Amos officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Wayne County, 5318 Tannerville Road, Orrville 44667. He was born Feb. 27, 1941 in Autaugaville, Ala., and married Ruby L. Willis Howard on Feb. 6, 1965 in Orrville. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Phillip and Shawn Jackson of Orrville; a godchild, Ayana S. Durden of Youngstown; his mother, Fannie Brown of Orrville and his father, Louis Golson of Detroit; a brother, the Rev. Matthew Jackson of Atlanta; a sister, Earnestine Hardnett of Orrville; stepbrothers, Louis Golson Jr., Marcus and LaMont Golson and Richard Houser, all of Detroit and Eddie Brown of Texas; and stepsisters, Lisa, Debra, Denise and Ann Golson, all of Detroit and Bertha Minor of Autaugaville, Ala.

Glenn Lawrence
DALTON -- Memorial services for Glenn W. Lawrence, 73, of Dalton and Tucson, Ariz., will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton. The Rev. Mike McFarren will officiate. Burial of the cremains will be at Dalton Cemetery. He died Friday, April 16, 1999, in Arizona. Memorial contributions may be made to Living Water Fellowship Church, 200 N. Kurzen Road, Dalton 44618.

Eldon Clark
SHREVE -- Memorial services for Eldon R. "Mike" Clark, 84, 8874 Millersburg Road, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Moreland United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Stull will officiate. Private burial of the cremains will be at Moreland Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home, Wooster. He died Saturday, April 24, 1999.

H. Douglas Mougey
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- H. Douglas Mougey, 54, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Thursday, April 29, 1999, in Brownsville, Texas. Surviving are children, Stacy Seago and Douger and their mother Suzanne of Columbus; and children, Stefanie, Darren and Robbie and their mother, Linda of Scottsdale, Ariz.; his father and stepmother, Herald and Beulah of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Robert L.; grandchildren, Tanner and Cate Seago; nephews, Matt and Mark; and a dear friend, Lauren Stevens of Scottsdale, Ariz. Services have been held and burial has taken place. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, Ariz. 85016.

WADSWORTH -- Charles C. "Bud" Barowicz, 32, of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Cleveland Clinic, after a lengthy illness. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hilliard-Cox-Mullaney Funeral Home in Wadsworth, with the Rev. Daniel Haberkost officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are his wife, Tracy (Horch) Barowicz, formerly of Wooster; his parents, Dennis and Juanita Barowicz of Wadsworth; his grandmother, Gertrude Barowicz of Detroit; and sisters, Dina Nixon and her husband, Eric, of Copley and Melissa Barowicz of Portage Lakes.

BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. -- Lorna M. Kiernan, 71, 520 N. Dolphin Circle, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla. She was formerly of Wooster. Memorial services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Barefoot Bay, Fla. Cremation will take place. Arrangements are being handled by South Brevard Funeral Home, 1001 S. Hickory St., Melbourne, Fla. She was born Jan. 18, 1928 in Chester, W.Va., and married Francis H. Kiernan on Nov. 16, 1972. He survives. Other survivors include sisters, Martha Scott of Jackson, La., Kathryn Grimes of Chester, W.Va., Ruth DeLauder and Ann Bailey, both of East Liverpool and Bernice DeVore of Freemont, Ind.; and a brother, Bob McGaffick of Sanford, Fla.

WALNUT CREEK -- Harold Hixson Sr., 91, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at Walnut Hills Retirement Home in Walnut Creek. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Carlan Helgeson officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holmes County, Holmes County Health Department, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654. Surviving are children and their spouses, Harold and Erika Hixson Jr. of Fairborn, John and Carolyn Hixson of Delaware and Linda and Donald Smart of Wilmington; stepsons, Ralph Kilchenman of Dover, Earl Kilchenman of Kent and Dale Kilchenman of Alliance; six grandchildren; and two nephews. His wives, Dorothy (Powell) Hixson, died in 1975 and Freda (Lahmers) Kilchenman Hixson, in 1996.

Memorial services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Trinity United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Glenn Royer officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Home Cemetery, Prescott, Ariz. There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, is handling arrangements. Those who wish may make contributions to Parkinson's Society of Ohio, 371 McCampbell Hall, 1581 Dodd Drive, Columbus 43210-1296; or to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. He was born May 21, 1918 in Corry, Pa., to Valentine W. and Kathryn (Walaski) Zepka and married Ola Mae Sewell on Feb. 13, 1943. She survives. Other survivors include children and their spouses, John W. and Kathy Zepka Jr. of Lewisville, Texas, and Candace and Robert Holland of Orrville; grandchildren, Cyndie Smart, John Zepka III, Benjamin and Katie Holland; and great-grandchildren, Kristen Zepka and Taylor Fogus.
