Roy Klay
FREMONT -- Roy W. Klay, 86, of Fremont, and president emeritus of Terra Community College in Fremont, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Private services were held Saturday, Jan. 9, at Rush Funeral Home, 37234 Mounds St., Sardis. Burial was at Sardis Cemetery. Memorial services will be held in Fremont at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Roy W. Klay Scholarship Fund, Terra Community College Foundation, 2830 Napoleon Road, Fremont 43420. He was born Oct. 21, 1912 in Sardis, Monroe County to Earnest and Lillie (Yoss) Klay and married Mary Maxine Romick. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Mrs. Jerry (Mary) Huddleston of Boca Raton, Fla., Mrs. Harley (Holly) Grim of Cincinnati and Steven M. Klay of Toledo; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Lester Klay of Canton and Waldo Klay of Dayton; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur (Grace) Hogan of Hamilton.

Louise Mowrer
WOOSTER -- Louise A. Mowrer, 83, 4325 Overton Road, Wooster, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 9, 1999, in the emergency room at Wooster Community Hospital, after an apparent heart attack. Services will be today (Tuesday) at 2:30 at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, with Pastor James W. Christensen officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Canton Metro Office, 4916 Hills & Dales Road, NW, Canton 44708. She was born Aug. 28, 1915 in Pike, W.Va., to John and Vina (Morris) Martin and married Harold W. Mowrer on Dec. 27, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Ind. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son and daughter-in-law, Sonny and Jill Carmichael of Wooster; grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Barb Carmichael and Renee and Gary Gwinn; great-grandchildren, Cory, Jessi and Shelby Carmichael; a brother, Pete Martin of Vienna, W.Va.; and a sister, Mrs. Ron (Cora) Matheny of New Metamoras.

Irving Kundtz
WOOSTER -- Irving A. Kundtz, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Horn Nursing Home. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Busch Family Chapel, 4334 Pearl Road, Cleveland. Entombment will be at Brooklyn Heights Mausoleum. Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 7-9 at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. He was the loving father of Irving J. and wife, Linda Kundtz of Wooster; grandfather of Susan Kutz and Brian Kundtz; and great-grandfather of Taelor and Tara Kutz. His beloved wife Ruth M. Kundtz, died previously.

Harriette Miller
TAMPA, Fla. -- Harriette E. (Krause) Miller, 89, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Orrville, died Sunday, Jan. 3, at Bayfront Medical Center. Memorial services were held Thursday, Jan. 7. National Cremation Society in St. Petersburg, Fla., handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 12502 N. Pine Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33612-9499. Surviving are sons, Stephen McLaughlin of Alexandria, Va., and David McLaughlin of San Francisco.

Phillip Ross
ERHART -- Phillip W. Ross, 61, of Erhart, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at Southwest General Health Center, Middleburg Heights. Services were held today (Tuesday), at Bauer Funeral Home in Valley City. The Rev. Richard Thewlis officiated. Burial was at York Township Cemetery, Mallet Creek. Memorial contributions may be made to Erhart Fire & Rescue Department. Surviving are his companion, Ivadell Ribbeck, with whom he had made his home; sons, Donald and wife, Mindy Ribbeck and Ronald Ribbeck, all of Brookpark; three grandchildren; brothers, Raymond and wife, Ella Mae Ross of Wooster and Don Ross of New Mexico; and sisters, Hilda Gail of Ripley, Fla., Lois Dean of Shreve, Caroline Fessler of Seville, Donna Stillman of Medina, Anna Ross of Wadsworth and Bernice and husband, Liff Calvert of Missouri.

Robert Gobin
ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- Robert J. Gobin, 71, Candle Light Mobile Park, 2000 N. Volusia, Lot C13, Orange City, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 5, in West Palm Beach, Fla. Memorial services will be held in June at North Alliance Church in Burlington, Vt. Surviving are his wife, Alice Gobin of 51 years of Orange City, Fla.; and four children.

E. Lucille Schar
POLK -- E. Lucille Schar, 96, of Polk, died Monday, Jan. 11, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Ashland. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with the Rev. Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Red Haw Cemetery, Polk. Friends may call one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Nursing Home, 622 Center St., Ashland 44805. She was born Aug. 28, 1902 in Ashland County to Charles and Minnie (Lucas) McFadden and married Charles Schar. He died May 14, 1979. Surviving are a son and wife, Charles and Jean Schar of Ashland and a daughter, Pauline Imhoff of Polk; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister, Pauline Gortner of Ashland.

E. Blanche Brecheisen
LOUDONVILLE -- E. Blanche Brecheisen, 73, formerly of East Burwell Avenue, died Monday morning, Jan. 11, at Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville, after a long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville, with the Rev. Gary L. Pollock officiating. Burial will be at Loudonville Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. She was born June 4, 1925 in Red Ash, Va., to Roy C. and Grace (White) Wilson and married Howard G. Brecheisen in 1968. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Sandra Rader of Mansfield, a son, Lewis and wife, Cathy Frazee and a son, Jerry Frazee, all of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; a sister, Helen Strouse of Danville; brothers, Troy Wilson of Loudonville, Kenneth and wife, Rose Wilson of Bladensburg and Zane and wife, Shirley Wilson of Danville.

LAKEVILLE -- Kenneth C. Spreng, 81, 13145 Township Road 473, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Altercare of Millersburg. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Ripley Church of Christ, with the Rev. Tom Benter officiating. Burial will be at Ripley Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ripley Church of Christ, 12298 County Road 330, Big Prairie 44611; or to Hospice of Holmes County, Holmes County Health Department, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654. He was born Sept. 2, 1917 in Green Township, Ashland County, to Charles Elmer and Rozetta (Coble) Spreng and married Mary L. Fetter on May 29, 1941. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and their spouses, Virginia and Lynn Johnson of Big Prairie, Shirley J. and Tom McMillen Jr. of Shreve and Geraldine and Ron Hera of Plainfield, Ind.; grandchildren, Brad, Michelle, Steve and Corey Johnson, Christine Geiser, Melissa Miller, Beth Starr, Cathy McMillen and Philip Kerr; step-grandchildren, Chris Hicks, Betsy French and Mark Hera; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Deward Spreng of Lakeville; and a sister, Bernice Hostettler of Wooster.

CANEYVILLE, Ky. -- Violet Daisy Mong, 76, of Caneyville, Ky., formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, Jan. 10, at Leitchfield Healthcare Manor. Services were held this morning (Tuesday), at Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield, Ky. The Rev. George Smith officiated. Burial was at Beech Grove Cemetery. Surviving are her husband, John Mong; children, Rebecca Newson of Morgantown, Ky., Deborah Douglass of Pennsylvania, John Douglass of Washington and Walter Douglass of Bowling Green, Ky.; four step-children; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

HARTVILLE -- Clyde A. McKinstry, 78, of Hartville, died Monday morning, Jan. 11, 1999, in the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center in Canton. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in New Pittsburg, with the Revs. Herbert Garnes III and Jonathon Eilert officiating. Burial will be at New Pittsburg Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Hartville; or two hours prior to the services at the church. SUGARCREEK -- Gilbert R. "Gib" Leindecker, 82, of Sugarcreek, died Sunday, Jan. 10, at his residence. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Butler-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Eric Walch officiating. Burial will be at Coshocton County Memory Gardens, where military rites will be conducted by Baltic American Legion. Friends may call tonight (Tuesday) from 6-8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Renner's St. Paul United Church of Christ; American Cancer Society; or to Hospice of Tuscarawas County. He was born March 17, 1916 in Chili to Henry and Mary (McClure) Leindecker and married Arlene Marhofer on May 19, 1943. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Nancy and husband, Dana Stein of Sugarcreek; three grandchildren; brothers, Oscar Leindecker of Sugarcreek, Kenneth Leindecker of Baltic and Ralph Leindecker of Fresno; and sisters, Nellie Miller and Hazel Eick, both of Fresno, Ida Firster of West Lafayette and Bessie Ames of Chili.

WOOSTER -- Memorial services for Stella Schwenk, 80, of Wooster, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster. She died Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Chester Wolgamott
WILMOT -- Chester Grant Wolgamott, 82, of Wilmot, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, at his home after a period of declining health. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grace United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Arthur Clippinger officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Brewster. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 933 Main Ave., W., Massillon 44647. He was born May 11, 1916 in West Lafayette to Byron A. and Rosa E. (Philabaum) Wolgamott and married Mary Jane Moyer on Sept. 25, 1938. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Mrs. William (Nancy R.) Hamilton and James L. Wolgamott, both of Massillon; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Pauline Rohr of North Lawrence; and a brother, Blaine Wolgamott of Massillon.

ORRVILLE -- Nora May Eschliman, 100, died Monday, Jan. 11, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, where she was a resident for the past five years. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Martin's Mennonite Cemetery near Orrville. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m. at Orrville Mennonite Church, with the Revs. John and Barbara Lehman officiating. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville. Dr. Sanford C. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at Rowsburg Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Rowsburg Lutheran Church, 137 Ashland County Road 1302, Ashland 44805. She was born May 27, 1899 in Chester Township, Wayne County to John and Eliza (Becker) Uhler and married Ray Gardner on June 2, 1917. He died April 29, 1981. Surviving are children, Beulah Noe of Manteno, Ill., Mrs. Robert (Viola) Bower and Mrs. Edward (Janet) Schuch, both of Wooster and Dale and wife, Grace Gardner of Ashland; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

LINGINER, Pa. -- William "Bud" Frye, 70, of Fort Linginer, Pa., formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, Jan. 10, at his home after a long illness. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Donald Frye Jr. of Ravenna (formerly of Wooster), Christine Frye of Orrville, Glenn Frye, Ronnie Phillips and Jenny Barnes, all of Wooster and Larry and Carrie Philips, both of Shreve.

HOPE, Ind. -- Gola E. Mayes, 84, of Hope, Ind., died Monday afternoon, Jan. 11, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was the mother of Mrs. Abner (Terry) Schlabach of Kidron. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Norman Funeral Home, 604 N. Main St., Hope, Ind., with the Rev. Tim Dillingham officiating. Burial will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery. She was born Oct. 2, 1914 in Barren County, Ky., to William T. and Hattie (Terry) Wheeler and married Marlin Mayes on March 27, 1930. He died April 23, 1990.
