WEST SALEM -- Paul A. McNeil, 73, of West Salem, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, at his home. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Mohican Church of the Brethren, West Salem, with the Rev. Paul Bartholomew officiating. Burial will be at Fair Haven Cemetery, West Salem. Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 7-9 at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, or one hour prior to the services at the church. He was born Feb. 7, 1925 in Akron to Ernest and Lulu (Williams) McNeil and married Sylvia Breitenstine in 1947. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Pamela J. and Earl Newberger of Wooster, Wayde N. and Deborah McNeil of Sullivan and Jerry and Ann McNeil of West Salem; six grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Nannette H. Moxon
WOOSTER -- Nannette H. Moxon, 92, 2133 Eddy Road, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 20, 1999, at West View Manor Nursing Home. Memorial services will be Monday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, corner of Market and North streets, Wooster. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. The family prefers memorials to St. James Episcopal Church; or to West View Manor, Wooster. She was born Aug. 1, 1906 in Kimball, S.D., to Albert and Anna (Wentzy) Harker and married Alvin L. Moxon in 1938. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Birgit Moxon of Union Grove, Wis.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Dorothy Strouse
GLENMONT -- Dorothy Strouse, 85, of Glenmont, died Thursday morning, Jan. 21, at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg, after a period of declining health. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Glenmont, with Monsignor Thomas Wolf officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Friday) from 6-8 at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, where the rosary will begin at 8. She was born Sept. 10, 1913 in Holmes County to Charles and Lovie (Mackey) Starner and married Albert Strouse on Jan. 23, 1932. He died April 17, 1970. Surviving are a sister-in-law, Myrtle Starner of Big Prairie; and several nieces and nephews.

Arlie Rollins
ORRVILLE -- Arlie H. Rollins, 84, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville. He was formerly of Knoxville, Tenn. Memorial services will be Sunday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Orrville, during the worship service. The Rev. Barbara Morrison will officiate. Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 14, at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn. Arrangements are being handled by Auble Funeral Home in Orrville. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1830 W. Market St., Orrville 44667. She was born March 15, 1914 in Chestnut Hill, Tenn., to John R. and M. Clarendia (Griffen) Henderson and married James D. Rollins on Oct. 15, 1942 in Greenville, S.C. He died Aug. 25, 1966. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Clarendia and Stephen Brown of Orrville and Sandra and Donald Asbury of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Sarah Asbury of Cookeville, Tenn., and David L. Asbury, serving in the U.S. Army; and sisters, Cora and Nola Henderson and Ruby Rumfelt, all of Belmont, N.C.

Richard Bovard
WOOSTER -- Richard R. Bovard, 84, 2601 Monterey Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at West View Manor Nursing Home, Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Revs. Robert Meyer and Francis Browne officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Those who wish may make contributions to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster; or to Wayne Presbyterian Church, 7152 Burbank Road, Wooster 44691. Surviving is his wife, Doris C. (Ramsey) Bovard, whom he married July 28, 1962.

Peggy Cochran
ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- Peggy Lee Cochran, 68, of Pine Lane Street, died Thursday, Jan. 21, at her home. She was the mother of Barry and wife, Janice Cochran of Wooster. Memorial services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at East Richland Evangelical Friends Church in St. Clairsville, with the Rev. Wayne Ickes and Lou Williams officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Beck Funeral Home, 204 W. Main St., St. Clairsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Arthur James Cancer Research Center of Ohio State University; or East Richland Evangelical Friends Church in St. Clairsville. She was born Nov. 25, 1930 in St. Clairsville to Martin E. and Stella (Trigg) Craig and married William E. Cochran. He survives. Surviving in addition to her son and husband, are three other children, Bryan and wife, Diane Cochran, Brent and wife, Marsha Cochran and Belinda Shaw, all of Columbus; eight grandchildren; and sisters, Marceline Swartz, Betty Linn Hanlon and Gerry Beck, all of St. Clairsville.

Paul Klann
WEST SALEM -- Paul W. Klann, 36, of West Salem, died Thursday, Jan. 21, at his home. Memorial services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, with the Rev. Carl Uhler officiating. Burial will be at West Salem Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Northwestern Middle School, 7569 N. Elyria Road, West Salem 44287, for the field trip to Washington, D.C. He was born Feb. 24, 1962 in Beaver Falls, Pa., to Jack and Shirley (Withers) Klann and married Linda Sklenka on July 12, 1986. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kolleen Klann and stepdaughters, Jenny and Libby Duncan, all of the home; brothers, Jack Klann of Lodi and Neal Klann of West Salem; and sisters, Deborah Garnes of Wooster and Donna Klann of Massillon.

Marie Klawer
DOYLESTOWN -- Marie Klawer, age 81, entered eternal rest on Jan. 21, 1999, at Barberton Citizens Hospital, after a courageous battle with the effects of cancer and stroke. Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading and her Catholic faith. She was born on Sept. 14, 1917 to William and Otilia (Teufel) Pogel and married Elmer Klawer on Sept. 28, 1935 He survives. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elmer Klawer; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Worth "Bud" Graham Jr. of Doylestown ; grandsons, Ben (Dawn) Graham, III of Wooster; Brian (Emily) Graham of Akron; great-grandson, Worth "B.J." Graham, IV; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown with the Father David McCarthy, celebrant. Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn in Akron, New York. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. Rosary will be Sunday at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.

Herbert Ramsier
WOOSTER -- Herbert W. Ramsier, 84, 6532 Canaan Center Road, died Friday, Jan. 22, at Smithville Western Care Center. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Canaan Township Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born Sept. 21, 1914 in New Martinsville, W.Va. to Samuel and Ida (Nolan) Ramsier and married Marie Ganyard in 1936. She died on Nov. 19, 1974. He then married Leona M. White on Nov. 2, 1976. She survives. Surviving in addition to his second wife, are children Mike and Stanley, both of West Salem, Douglas of Louisiana, and Elizabeth Hanes of Lodi; stepchildren, Lillian Lambert of Massillon, Helen Lambert of Canton, Lois Weaver of Wooster, Ralph White of Maryland, Bonnie Hedrick of West Virginia, and Carl White of Medina; 12 grandchildren; 18 stepgrandchildren; and half-sisters, Alberta Johnson of Wadsworth and Charlotte Bowman of Wooster.

Albina Meyers
DOYLESTOWN -- Albina F. Meyers, 80, of Doylestown, died Saturday, Jan. 23. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown with the Rev. David McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. Rosary will be Monday at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron 44333. She married Edward W. Meyers Sr. on May 5, 1937. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Patricia (George) Jones of Uniontown, Linda (Budd) Thompson of Springboro; three sons, Edward W. (Mary) Meyers Jr. of Barberton, Joseph (Peggy) Meyers of North Lawrence, and Jeffrey Meyers of Doylestown; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Jack Manning of Pennsylvania, Cecil (Joan) Manning of California.

Arlie Rollins

WOOSTER -- Vince F. W. Beck, 62, of Wooster, died Friday, Jan. 22, at his residence. Service of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens where military rites will be observed. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. He married Sharon Woodruff on April 16, 1966. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark and Keith Beck, both of Wooster; five grandchildren; three brothers, Thomas P., Joseph A. and John J. Beck, all of Wooster and two sisters, Margaret Clark of Springfield and Ann Portwood of Richfield.

Lawrence Bolte
WOOSTER -- Lawrence Bolte, 83, 5100 Ely Road, died Thursday morning, Jan. 21, at Valley View Rehabilitation Center in Akron, following a long illness. Graveside services will be Monday at 2:45 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery in Wooster. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home. Surviving is a sister, Lucile McBride of Cuyahoga Falls.

Evelyn Malcuit
ORRVILLE -- Evelyn I. Malcuit, 74, 5728 N. Crownhill Road, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home, where she had been a patient for four months. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville with the Rev. Gary Pettyjohn officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. There will be no calling hours. She married Frank T. Malcuit in 1946. He died May 30, 1980. Surviving are a son, Terry F. Malcuit of Orrville; grandchildren, Christopher F. Malcuit and Holly Malcuit; great-grandson, Franklin Paul Malcuit and five brothers, Clarence Howell of Jerusalem, John and George Howell, both of Orrville, Jack Howell of Wooster and Vernon Howell of Apple Creek.

Gale Farner
WADSWORTH -- Gale W. Farner, 79, of Wadsworth, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Akron General Medical Center. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Hilliard Cox Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth with the Rev. James L. Singleton officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Rhonda Farner of Wadsworth; a granddaughter, Kimberly (Mrs. Damon) Wells of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Edna June Markley and Marie (Mrs. Walter) Markley, both of Wadsworth; sisters-in-law, Doris (Mrs. Herb) Wentink of Bath, Irene Farner of Wadsworth, Alvina Myers of Akron and several nieces and nephews.

Clifford Snell
RITTMAN -- Clifford P. Snell, 76, of Hatfield Road, died Saturday, Jan. 23, at the home of his son near Sterling. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Doug Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Rittman Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Surviving are a son, Jim (Kim) Snell of Sterling and a brother, Adelbert Snell of Rittman.

Atlee Kauffman
FREDERICKSBURG -- Atlee B. Kauffman, 78, 10458 Salt Creek Road, died Sunday, Jan. 24, at his home, after an extended illness. Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Nelson D. Yoder officiating. Burial will be at Hershberger Cemetery, Salt Creek Township, Wayne County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton. He was born Jan. 24, 1921 in Holmes County to Benjamin D. and Mattie (Miller) Kauffman and married Fannie L. Weaver on March 15, 1951. She survives. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Jonas J. (Katie) Miller of Fredericksburg, Mrs. David H. (Mary) Miller, Amanda Weaver, Mattie, and Ida Kauffman, all of the home; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, David and Joe Kauffman, both of Florida and Ben Kauffman of Fredericksburg; and sisters, Mrs. Nelson (Mattie) Troyer of Fredericksburg, Mary Troyer of Apple Creek and Mrs. Andy (Edna) Yoder of Nova.

Warren Goodman
NAVARRE, Fla. -- Warren T. Goodman, 62, 8798 Turkey Bluff Road, died Friday morning, Jan. 22, 1999, at his residence in Florida, after a long illness. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Mike McFarren officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, in care of Wooster Clinic, 1740 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691. He was born April 11, 1936 in Wooster to William and Lillian (Gerberich) Goodman and married Elizabeth M. Greenawalt on Sept. 20, 1956 in Wooster. She survives. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are children, William A. Goodman of West Newton, Pa., Eric D. Goodman of Addison, Ala., and Nancy G. and husband, Corey Moragas of Slidell, La.; grandchildren, Katrina, Monique, Kyle, Taylor and Bailey; a brother, John W. Goodman of Beach City; sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Alverda) Feeman of Orrville and Mrs. Dallas (Clarissa) Boyd of Massillon; a dearest mother-in-law, Ruth A. Greenawalt of Navarre, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles Varns
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Charles Frank Varns, 53, of Bradenton, Fla., died Saturday, Jan. 23. He was the cousin of Donald Varns of Wooster. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Bradenton, Fla., where friends may call two hours prior to the services. Burial will be in Bradenton, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, Bradenton, Fla. Surviving in addition to his cousin, is his wife, Jill Varns of Bradenton, Fla.

Melvin Gruver
WEST SALEM -- Melvin E. Gruver, 77, of West Salem, died Monday, Jan. 25, at Samaritan Hospital in Ashland. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem, where military rites will be conducted by James Stevenson Post 499 of West Salem. The Rev. Robert Holmes will officiate. Burial will be at Hazzard Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Town & Country Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 175, West Salem 44287; or to Polk Rescue Squad, 200 E. Congress St., Polk 44866. He was born June 26, 1921 in River Styx to Charles and Arlene (Everhard) Gruver and married Betty Simmons on June 26, 1949. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Melissa and Jeff Clemens of Mansfield and Bruce and Kate Gruver of West Salem; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
