Ronald Vetter
DOYLESTOWN -- Ronald P. Vetter, 61, of Doylestown, died Monday, Feb. 1. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown, with Father David McCarthy officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home, where a wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m. He was born March 21, 1937 in Doylestown to Paul and Edna (Walters) Vetter and married Rita Mainberger on Aug. 22, 1959. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children and their spouses, Pat and Ernie Kash and Greg and Susan Vetter, all of Wadsworth, James Vetter and Pam Congrove, both of Doylestown; nine grandchildren; his mother of Rittman; brothers and their spouses, Jim and Annette Vetter of Doylestown and Richard and Sandy Vetter of Florida; and a sister, Rosemary Vetter of Arizona.

John Bower
GLENMONT -- John L. Bower, 81, of Glenmont, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1999, at Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg, after a period of declining health. Services will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Clifford Beck officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 19, 1917 to Leonard and Eunice Bower and married Letha Crouthers on Oct. 16, 1936. She died in 1974. Surviving are grandchildren, Cindy (Bower) Rowe of Millersburg, Linda (Bower) Duncan of Nashville, John Bower of Tennessee, Matthew Bower and Angilea (Bower) Morris, both of Glenmont; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and his fiancee and companion of 20 years, Dorothy Purdy of Killbuck.

Merle Lautenschlager Sr.
SMITHVILLE -- Merle M. Lautenschlager Sr., 94, 6169 Weilersville Road, Smithville, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, 1999, at Lincoln Manor in Orrville, after a long illness. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, with the Rev. Allan R. Bevere officiating. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born March 18, 1904 in Apple Creek to William and Icie (Smedley) Lautenschlager and married Della E. Butterbaugh on Nov. 27, 1928 in Apple Creek. She died July 13, 1975. Surviving are children and their spouses, Merle M. and Julia M. Lautenschlager Jr. and Esther E. and Creed O. Parsons Jr., all of Smithville, Philip and Francis E. Lautenschlager of Wooster and Geraldine L. Hummel of Orrville; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

James Moffit
ORRVILLE -- James H. Moffit, 74, 322 Mohican Ave., died Monday afternoon, Feb. 1, 1999, at Lincoln Manor in Orrville, after a long illness. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Orrville Church of Christ on North Elm Street, with the Rev. Tom Ledford officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691; or Central Ohio Parkinson Society, P.O. Box 18313, Columbus 43218-0313. He was born Oct. 17, 1924 in Alliance, to Luther D. and Margaret (Owens) Moffitt and married Norma Jean Hershberger on Feb. 26, 1950 in Wooster. She died in 1995. Surviving are children, Douglas J. and Raymond J. Moffit, both of Orrville, Mrs. Randy D. (Cathy J.) Kiser of Wooster and Mrs. Richard A. (Janet L.) Brown of Marietta; and grandchildren, Kristi and Nikki Kiser, Lucas, Mitch and Heather Moffit and Richie Brown.

Paul Gilbert
LODI -- Paul Eugene "Red" Gilbert, 81, of Lodi, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at his home. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lodi Fire Department; or Hospice of Medina County. He was born July 16, 1917 in Lafayette Township and was married to Mabel Faye (Stillman) Gilbert for 62 years. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children and their spouses, Donald and Barbara Gilbert of Lodi, Dennis and Mitzi Gilbert of Westfield Center, Roderick Gilbert of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Sandra Gilbert DaMert of Strongsville; four grandchildren; a step-grandson; sisters, Charlene Muth of Florida, Opal Williams of North Fairfield and Patricia Mensen of Hinckley; and brothers, Orlin Gilbert of Hartville, Robert Gilbert of Parma and Roger Gilbert of Uniontown.

Glenn Riblet
WOOSTER -- Glenn E. Riblet, 82, 3686 N. Geyers Chapel Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at his residence. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, with the Rev. Paul Sluss officiating. Burial will be at Smithville Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 28, 1916 in Lucas to Leslie and Roda (Secrist) Riblet and married Esther Calame on Feb. 8, 1939. She died April 25, 1986. Surviving are children and their spouses, Leslie and Sallie (Klingel) Riblet of Killingworth, Conn., Larry and Donna (Mackey) Riblet of West Salem, Loren and Beth (Miller) Riblet of Urbana, Leonard and Freida (Roberts) Riblet of Leeds Point, N.J., and Lyle and Barbara (Eggeman) Riblet of Wooster; 12 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Dorothy Butterbaugh of Mansfield.

Sylbert Farnsworth
ZANESVILLE -- Sylbert Lee Farnsworth, 85, of the Inn at North Hills, 1575 Bowers Ave., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Bethesda Hospital in Zanesville, after a brief illness. She was the mother of Donald and wife, Delores, Farnsworth of Baltic. Family graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Baltic, with the Rev. Barry French officiating. There will be no calling hours. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements. She was born Sept. 11, 1913 in Zanesville to James and Gladys (Schumacher) Clepper and married Dorsey Farnsworth. He died Feb. 23, 1968. Surviving in addition to her son, are two other children, Jerry Holmes of Washington, Pa., and Mrs. Bill (Jayne) Hall of Zanesville; and seven grandchildren.

Dorothy Bare
WOOSTER -- Dorothy Lucile Bare, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Karrington of Wooster, after a long illness. She was the mother of Wayne Allen and wife, Pat, Bare of Wooster. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Nevada United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Beryl Baum officiating. Burial will be at Brush Ridge, Grand Prairie Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call Friday from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525-A Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. She was born Aug. 28, 1912 in Wyandot County to Amos Tilden and Mary (Scheff) Hite and married C. Richard Bare on Aug. 17, 1937 in Frederick, Md. He died Sept. 20, 1997. Surviving in addition to her son, are two other children, Betty Lou Bradley of Charlotte, N.C., and Arthur Dale and wife, Susan, Bare of Columbus; five grandchildren; and sisters, Effie Bibler and Mrs. Vernon (Vesta) Williams, both of Westerville.

John Barnes
GLENMONT -- John V. Barnes, 84, of Glenmont, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at Sunset View Nursing Home, Millersburg. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Clifford Beck officiating. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Glenmont Emergency Squad; or to Holmes County Home Health, 931 Wooster Road, Millersburg 44654. He was born Nov. 12, 1914 in Richland Township to Dale and Elnora (Bower) Barnes and married Alfretta Augsburger. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters and their spouses, Sue and Delmar Banbury of Glenmont, Pat and Bob Bushman of Massillon and Barb and Chuck Cargill of Killbuck; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Cloyd Yoder
WOOSTER -- Cloyd J. Yoder, 69, of Wooster and Sarasota, Fla., died Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Sarasota, after a period of declining health. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at East Union Mennonite Church, with the Revs. Delmar Falb and Paul Mullet officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the church, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton. He was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Meyersdale, Pa., to John D. and Lydia (Tice) Yoder and married Mary E. Stutzman on Sept. 14, 1952. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children and their spouses, Sharon and Bruce Lehman and Marilyn and Jonas Yoder, all of Sarasota, Fla., Carol and Ben Beachy of Berlin, Gladys and John Weaver of Apple Creek, Doris and Gordon Stutzman and Steven R. Yoder, all of Wooster; eight grandchildren; sisters, Iva Lantz of Lancaster, Pa., Verda Mast of Salisbury, Pa., Lois Stutzman of Wooster and Dorothy Yoder of Grantsville, Md.; and brothers, Roy and Olen Yoder, both of Grantsville, Md., Raymond and Marvin Yoder, both of Salisbury, Pa., Monroe Yoder of Bronx, N.Y., John Yoder Jr. of Wooster and Daniel Yoder of Washington, D.C.

Earl Ford
LODI -- Earl D. Ford, 78, of Lodi, died Thursday, Feb. 4, at Life Care of Medina. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi, with the Rev. Christopher Cahill officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lodi. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ The King Lutheran Church, 8080 Lafayette Road, Lodi 44254. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Ford; children and their spouses, Kathleen and Paul Flockerzi of Tionesta, Pa., Lawrence and Natalie Ford and James and Vicki Ford, all of Strongsville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nina Belle Koltcz of Warrensville Heights and Geraldine King of Hershey, Pa.

Karl Bowman
CHESTER TOWNSHIP -- Karl H. Bowman, 78, of Chester Township, Wayne County, died Thursday, Feb. 4, at Pine Valley Care Center in Richfield. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Church of the Open Door in Lodi, with the Rev. Joseph Rock officiating. Burial will be at Mohican Church of the Brethren Cemetery in West Salem. There will be no calling hours. Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi is handling arrangements. Surviving are children, Nyla Crossen, Cyndi Sawchak and Monte Bowman, all of Ashland, Beth Ann Bowman, Bobbi Jo Boggs and Joni Williams, all of West Salem, Sandi Palm and Linda Williamson, both of Spring, Texas, Scott Beard of Cincinnati; and many grandchildren.

Thomas Yurko
KILLBUCK -- Thomas A. Yurko, 50, 33365 Township Road 326, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at his home. Services will be Saturday at 8 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. David Carrick officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. He was born Oct. 10, 1948 in Cleveland to Michael and Mary Ann (Harding) Yurko and married Roseann Botson on April 30, 1977. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, Todd and Alexandra, both of the home; his parents of Cleveland; and brothers, John, Bob, Joe, Rick, Ken and Paul Yurko, all of Cleveland; and a sister, Michelle Stricklett of Litchfield.

Frank Day
SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Frank Collier Day, 44, of San Bruno, Calif., formerly of Wooster, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998, in California. Surviving are his wife, Carmeliza Day of San Bruno, Calif.; children, Matthew, Raymond, Franklin and Lenati, all of San Bruno, Calif.; his mother of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; brothers, Raymond R. Day Jr. of Federal Way, Wash., and Jasiri Djenaba (aka William Day) of Columbus; sisters, Renee Day-White of Reynoldsburg, Dorothy Day of Dayton, Winifred Day of Oakland, Calif., and Helen Day-Williams of Mansfield; and many nieces and nephews.

Albert Johnson
WOOSTER -- Albert D. Johnson, 68, 1054 Fox Lake Road, died Thursday evening, Feb. 4, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cleveland, after a short illness. Services will be Monday at noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Revs. Fay A. Botten and James McCurdy officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sterling. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. He was born Feb. 15, 1930 in Creston to Frank and Gladys (Shook) Johnson and married Bernice Marty on Feb. 1, 1953. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, and their spouses, Patricia Ann and Fred Elswick of Wooster, James and Margaret Johnson of Smithville and Randy; granddaughters, Patricia and Maggie Elswick and Crystal and Jessica Johnson; brothers, Frank Johnson Jr. of Seville, Donald Johnson of Wooster and Dale Johnson of Albany, Ga.; and sisters, Janice Ennis of Arizona, Dorothy Bowser of Newcomerstown and Ruth Still of Smithville.

Lola Brenneman
DUNDEE -- Lola M. Brenneman, 82, of Dundee, died early Friday morning, Feb. 5, at Brewster Parke Convalescent Center in Brewster, following a period of declining health. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Mount Eaton with the Rev. Jacqueline McMillen officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Mount Eaton. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Spidell Funeral Home in Mount Eaton, or one hour before services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul U.C.C., PO Box 196, Mount Eaton 44659. She was born on July 16, 1916 in Orrville to Walter and Jesse (Christman) Flory and she married Robert P. Brenneman on Oct. 3, 1943. He died Oct. 16, 1995. Surviving are children and spouses, Rachel A. and Dean L. Musser of Milton, Fla., and Dr. James W. and Patricia Brenneman of Mount Eaton; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; and two sisters, Ilma Dean Walter of Dover and Rachel Annis of Canton.

Ralph Wellman
SEVILLE -- Ralph Wellman, 74, of 35 Milton St., died Thursday, Feb. 4, at Akron City Hospital. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gillman Funeral Home in Rittman with the Rev. Terry N. Tareila officiating. Burial will be at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Gillman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 22 E. Main St., Seville 44273. He was born on Dec. 10, 1924 in Huntington, W.Va. to Charley and Blanche (Afliff) Wellman and lived in Seville 43 years. Surviving are his wife, Catherine (Brumfield) Wellman; daughters, Yvonne (Larry) Bratcher of Burbank, and Judy (Dale) Campbell of Medina; four granddaughters; one step-grandson; a brother, Charley Wellman, Jr. of Wadsworth; and sisters, Bessie Foreman of W.Va., Bertha Banfield, Myrtie Banfield, and Orpha Conger, all of Wadsworth.

Mable Reynolds
HOLMESVILLE -- Mable Frances Reynolds, 88, of 6555 State Route 83, died Friday, Feb. 5, at Altercare in Millersburg. Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Greenmont Cemetery in Freeport with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. She was born Sept. 8, 1910 in Anderson, Ind. to Owen and Lucy May (Wilson) Fowler and married Paul David Reynolds on May 31, 1928. He died on Jan. 13, 1982. Surviving are her children, Paul D. Reynolds III of Vermillion and Judith Lemin of Holmesville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a sister, Carlene Helman of Cleveland.

Patricia Ganas
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Patricia Ann (Cross) Ganas, 68, of San Jose, California, died Thursday, Jan. 28 in San Jose. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Surviving are her husband, John Ganas; a son, John U. Ganas; brothers, Harold Cross of Doylestown, Richard Cross of West Salem, and James Cross of Sebring, Fla.; and a sister, Donna Richards of Creston.

Howard Armstrong
WOOSTER -- Howard M. Armstrong, 83, of 244 E. Highland Ave., died Friday morning, Feb. 3, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. James Christensen and the Rev. Carroll Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster 44691, or to the Ohio State College of Agriculture, 2400 Olentangy Road, Columbus 43210. He was born June 14, 1915 in Wayne County to Hugh M. and Anna (Crawford) Armstrong and married Portia Hines on July 27, 1947. She died on Oct. 5, 1998. Surviving are a sister, Eleanor Wilson of Creston; a sister-in-law, Ruth Hines of the home; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd Maurer
WOOSTER -- Floyd Earl Maurer, 92, formerly of Oakmont Court, died Thursday, Feb. 4, at Horn Nursing Home. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ralph Fogal officiating. There will be a private family burial. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to People to People, 454 E. Bowman St., Wooster 44691. He was born May 15, 1906 in Nashville to John and Dora (Nussbaum) Maurer and married Thelma Fay Darr on June 5, 1930. She died on July 29, 1994. Surviving are his children and their spouses, David E. and Carol Maurer of Wooster, and Jane and Dale Stokes of Wilmington; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
