Margaret Alban

NEVADA - Margaret L. Alban, 83, of Ohio 231, Nevada, died at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003. The daughter of Leo Tillman and Elva Grace (Miller) Balliet, she was born April 30, 1920, in Antrim Township. She married Robert E. Alban on Jan. 17, 1942, in the Nevada Lutheran Parsonage. He died Feb. 13, 2003. Surviving are a son, Mitchell, Nevada; a daughter, Gloria Zulauf, Nevada; six grandchildren, Monica Finney, Crestline; Robyn Ehresman, New Washington; Amy Boyer, Maumee; Leigh Hershner, Croton; Shelly Brady, Marion; and Stacey McMillan, Upper Sandusky; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and a brother, Harold Balliet. A 1938 graduate of Nevada High School, Mrs. Alban was a homemaker and also was a secretary for 14 years at Nevada Elementary School in the Wynford district. She retired in 1980. Before that, she worked at Westinghouse in Upper Sandusky. She was a member of the Nevada Lutheran Church for more than 60 years. She also was a member of the Nevada Pythian Sisters for many years. Mrs. Alban was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Nevada Fire Department. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning, traveling and had been to all 50 states, spending time with her grandchildren and following their sporting events, and volunteering with her husband for many years at The Memorial Golf Tournament. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Nevada, with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Nevada Lutheran Church or group of the donor's choice in care of Lucas Funeral Home, PO Box 98, Nevada OH 44849.

Edward McLane

KENTON - Edward C. McLane, 70, Upper Sandusky died at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. Born in Dunkirk on Feb. 22, 1933, he was a son of Dale and Ester Marie (Ashba) McLane. He was married to Betty Teet, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Larry and Steve, both of Upper Sandusky, and Don of Findlay; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a half brother, Richard, Kenton; and a half sister, Margie Sermon, Kenton. Preceding him in death were his stepmother, Juanita Shope McLane; two sisters, Alberta McLane and Isabelle Carruthers; two brothers, Lewis and an infant; and a stepbrother, Thomas. Mr. McLane was retired from Centrex Plastic in Findlay, where he was a plant manager. He served in the U.S. Navy, took part in the atomic bomb test in 1954 and was stationed in Korea. Memberships included Upper Sandusky AMVETS and American Legion and Findlay DAV. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Schindewolf-Stevens-Stout Funeral Home, Kenton, the Rev. Steve Umphress officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery, Marseilles, where military rites will be conducted by AMVETS Post 1994. Visiting hours at the funeral home are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

W. Lee England

CAREY - W. Lee England, 220 S. Patterson St., Carey, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center in Findlay. He was 68. Born in Rockford, on Aug. 14, 1935, he was a son of Francis "Peck" and Isa (VanPelt) England. He married Diane K. Donelson on Nov. 17, 1961, in Carey. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, David, Toledo; and Steven, Tiffin; a daughter, Cindi England, McCutchen-ville; four brothers, Larry, Wayne; Jim, Green Springs; Raymond, Nevada; and Rodger, Huntington, Ind.; and a sister, Barbara Williams, Upper Sandusky. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis and Roy; and a sister, Gaynell Cole. Mr. England was a retired carpenter, having worked for a carpenters' union in Lima and Snyder Lumber Co. in Carey. He was of Protestant faith. Mr. England was a member of American Legion Post No. 344 in Carey, and of the National Rifle Association. There will be no visitation or funeral. Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, is handling local arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Dorcas Carey Public Library or the American Cancer Society in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey OH 43316.

Thelma Mae Foust

Thelma Mae Foust, formerly of Brownstown and Parkway Mobile Estates in Upper Sandusky, died at Fairhaven Retirement and Health Care Community at 3:07 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at the age of 73. Born on Nov. 23, 1929, in Carey, she was a daughter of Lee and Tillie Mae (Faber) Coppler. She married James R. Foust on May 7, 1955, in Morral. He died Dec. 28, 1995. Surviving are a son, Larry, Mount Blanchard; three daughters, Vicky Niederkohr and Joyce Mewhorter, Upper Sandusky; and Sandy Ruf, Sandusky; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior, Upper Sandusky; and Harold, Carey; and a sister, Eileen Fletcher, Williamstown. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Russell, Howard, Richard and Kenneth. Mrs. Foust was a homemaker and a nurse's aide at Fairhaven for about 25 years. She was of Lutheran faith. Mrs. Foust enjoyed the fall season, cooking, especially making homemade noodles and potato salad, growing roses and other flowers, collecting glassware, shopping, going to garage sales and collecting rings and other jewelry. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation is at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Paul Mangett

CAREY - Paul R. Mangett, 79, of 324 Maple Ave., Carey, died at Eaglewood Care Center in Carey, at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003. A son of Vincent and Johnsie (Coldiron) Mangett, he was born in Carey on April 30, 1924. He and Anne Walton were married in St. Peter Catholic Church in Upper Sandusky on June 14, 1947. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Stephen, Carey; Michael, New Riegel; and David, Arlington; two daughters, Nancy Taylor, Tiffin; and Mary Kromer, Carey; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Dirmeyer and Lois Jane Yingling, both of Carey. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Ann Bakies. After 47 years, Mr. Mangett retired from Porcelain Products Co. in Carey as a kiln fireman. He attended the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation. Mr. Mangett was a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1925 in Carey. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, with the Rev. Herbert Graf officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at Stomabugh-Batton Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today. A Christian wake will be held today at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Consolation School or the Dorcas Carey Public Library in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey OH 43316.

D. Richard Pever

FOREST - D. Richard Pever, 101 E. Sandusky St., Wharton, died at 1:38 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at the age of 58. Born in Wharton on Sept. 13, 1945, he was a son of Clayton R. and Jessie M. (Ratliff) Pever. His mother survives in Wharton. Also surviving are sister, Barbara Buess, Wharton, two godsons, three nieces and six great-nieces and great-nephews. A 1963 graduate of Riverdale High School, Mr. Pever served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He attended Findlay College and Bowling Green State University. Mr. Pever also formerly was employed at LaRiche Chevrolet and Cadillac in Findlay. He was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity while at Findlay College, and of the Flag City Corvette Club in Findlay and of the Houston Corvette Club in Houston, Texas. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Wharton-Richland Union Cemetery. There is no visitation, and Shields Funeral Home in Forest, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County.

Iola Schmuck

CAREY - Iola Dakota Schmuck of the Wyandot County Nursing Home, died at 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2003, at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. She was 93. Born in Garfield Township, Haakan, S.D., on Sept. 16, 1910, she was a daughter of Leonard and Katheran (Bachman) Beidelschies. She married Pharas G. Schmuck on Dec. 28, 1931, in Newport, Ky. He died Oct. 13, 1971. Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Sammet, Carey; two grandsons, Tim and Paul Sammet; two stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Katheran Emerine and Louella Hatcher, both of Upper Sandusky. She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Mrs. Schmuck was a homemaker, and a 50-plus-year member of Christ Lutheran Church in Carey. She also was a 50-plus-year member of Rebecca Lodge No. 227 in Findlay. Mrs. Schmuck was a member of the Mary Martha Class at Christ Lutheran Church, and enjoyed crocheting and being with her grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with interim pastor Andrea Starn officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey. Visitation is at Beach Funeral Home, Carey, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or Dorcas Carey Public Library.

Natalie Wagner

SYCAMORE - Natalie M. Wagner, 7015 CH 2, McCutchenville, died Monday morning, Oct. 27, 2003, at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. She was 20. Born in Tiffin on Aug. 23, 1983, she was a daughter of Jody A. and Rhonda Sue (Gray) Wagner. They survive near McCutchenville. Also surviving are a daughter, Madison J. Leonard, at home; a sister, Emilee Wagner, at home; a half brother, Kenneth Wagner, Tiffin; a half sister, Denver Fox, Upper Sandusky; maternal grandparents, Alex and Cleo Gray, Tiffin; and her paternal grandfather, Ronald "Shorty" Wagner, McCutchenville. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Janet Wagner. A homemaker, Ms. Wagner was of the Protestant faith. She was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and also a fan of Ryan Newman, who drives the No. 12 Dodge for Alltel on the NASCAR circuit. The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Cynthia Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville. Visitation is Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Madison J. Leonard trust fund in care of Jody and Rhonda Wagner or Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore OH 44882.

Susan Winstead

Susan E. Winstead of Nevada, died at 10:33 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at the Wyandot County Nursing Home at the age of 56. A daughter of James and Esther (Kercher) Fraser, she was born in Evansville, Ind., on Aug. 6, 1947. She married Billy Joe Winstead in June 1972, in Crown Point, Ind. He died Nov. 15, 1995. Surviving are her mother, Bucyrus; two sisters, Carolyn Miccolis, Bend, Ore.; and Diane Grossman of Nevada; three nephews, Christopher Miccolis, Bend, Ore.; David Miccolis, Simi Valley, Calif.; and Jonathan Grossman, Bowling Green; a great-niece; and many uncles, aunts and cousins. Since 1996, Mrs. Winstead had worked at Angeline Industries, and had been a piece worker. She was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Winstead enjoyed going to plays, musicals and concerts, was a fan of the TV show "I Love Lucy" and enjoyed going to basketball games at Angeline. A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lucas Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Glen Cemetery in Lansing, Ill., at a later date. Visitation is Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Memorials may be made to the Angeline Endowment Fund or Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Lucas Funeral Home, PO Box 207, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Dale Courtad

Dale R. Courtad of 504 W. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, died at Marion General Hospital at 5:19 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the age of 80. Born March 1, 1923, in Wyandot County, he was a son of Lorin and Matilda (Enders) Courtad. He married Clona D. Thompson on Nov. 14, 1945, in Marion. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Sandra Fox, Agoura Hills, Calif.; and Judy Reber, Upper Sandusky; William Thompson, Upper Sandusky, whom they raised from age 14; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Paul "P.K.," Upper Sandusky; and a sister, Thelma McCutchen, Upper Sandusky. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Wayne, Merle, Kara, Richard, Charles and infant Glenn. A 1941 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Mr. Courtad was the owner/operator of Dale's Gulf Service Station in Upper Sandusky for 48 years, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Mr. Courtad also was a member of the Upper Sandusky Lions Club, of which he had 17 years of perfect attendance. He also was a member of Eagles No. 337 in Marion, Moose Lodge No. 1093 and a life member of VFW Post 2842, both in Upper Sandusky. Mr. Courtad also was a life member of the 452nd World War II Bomber Group, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, stationed in England during WWII and serving in the 452nd Bomber Group. Mr. Courtad enjoyed going to professional baseball games throughout the United States and Canada with a special group of friends. He enjoyed traveling and collecting toy die-cast trucks, and keeping his vehicles, lawn and just about everything in perfect condition. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Preston and Charles Steward officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery, where military graveside services will be performed by local veterans' organizations. Visitation is at the funeral home Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Trinity UCC, Wyandot Memorial Hospital or the American Cancer Society in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Jean Ann Keller

Jean Ann Keller, 7644 CH 55, Upper Sandusky, died at the Wyandot Manor Nursing Home at 6:21 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003. She was 65. Born in Kirby on Oct. 14, 1938, she was a daughter of Virgil J. and Merecedes Mary (Schlachter) Thiel. She and Allen L. Keller were married April 19, 1958, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Kirby. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mike, Upper Sandusky; and Doug, Carey; three daughters, Cindy Weyand and Carolyn Hall, both of Upper Sandusky; and Patti Baumgartner, Sycamore; nine grandchildren; three brothers, Marcus, Dennis and Kenneth Thiel, all of Upper Sandusky; and two sisters, Rosalin Gears, Findlay; and Kathleen McNutt, Forest. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. A 1956 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, Mrs. Keller was a homemaker and had assisted on the family farm. She had worked as a telephone operator and had been employed by the AAA Automobile Club in Upper Sandusky. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church. Mrs. Keller was a member of Catholic Ladies of Columbia, St. Peter's Rosary Altar Society and was a volunteer librarian at St. Peter School and volunteered during bingo. She was a member of the 20th Century Mother's Club, was a 4-H adviser and was a member of Country Cousins Wyandot County Farm Bureau. Mrs. Keller enjoyed driving tractors and farm trucks, going camping, baking, cooking, sewing and taking care of her grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is at Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. There will be a biblical wake service Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 4-H Endowment Fund, Wyandot Manor Activities Fund or St. Peter Catholic School in care of Bringman-Clark and Co. Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Upper Sandusky OH 43351.

Jessie Baker

FOREST - Jessie M. Baker, formerly of Forest and more recently of Fox Run Manor in Findlay, died at Fox Run at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2003. She was 91. Born in Hardin County on Aug. 7, 1912, she was a daughter of Anna Elizabeth McKinley. She married Floyd L. Simpson on Jan. 5, 1929. He died Jan. 12, 1952. She then married Ralph F. Fernbaugh on Dec. 22, 1956. He died March 25, 1969. She and Loren C. Baker were married June 17, 1973. He died Oct. 7, 1987. Surviving are a daughter, Martha Cramer, Forest; three grandchildren, Kenneth Cramer, Nogal, N.M.; Ric Cramer, Tiffin; and Holly Dyer, Mount Blanchard; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. A 1928 graduate of Forest High School, Mrs. Baker went on to graduate from Ohio Northern University. She was a retired school teacher. She was a 50-year member of Forest United Methodist Church, and a member of the church's United Methodist Women. Mrs. Baker also was a member of Business and Professional Women, 60-Plus Club, Hardin County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma and Rebekah Lodge No. 363. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Forest, with the Rev. Brett Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery, Forest. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Forest United Methodist Church or the Forest-Jackson Library Building Fund.

William Dible

CAREY - William "Bill" F. Dible, 125 W. Brown Ave., Carey, died at his residence at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003. He was 70. A son of Hearl B. and Mary (Sammet) Dible, he was born in Carey on Nov. 8, 1932. He married Peggy J. Baldridge on May 11, 1957. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara Perkins, Carey; a son, Gene, Carey; six grandchildren, Ashley, Levi, Kristal, Crystal, Dustin and Amanda; a brother, Herbert, Carey; and three sisters, Virginia Feeley, June Bardon and Opal Hehr, all of Upper Sandusky. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gina Renee. Mr. Dible was a plumber and pipe fitter for J.F. Dible Co. in Carey. He retired after 30 years working for Union Local 50 of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Association of Toledo. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Dible was a life member of Earl Green American Legion Post No. 344 in Carey. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed leather working, making jewelry and woodworking. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God in Carey, with the Rev. Bobby Turner officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, where military graveside rites will be conducted by local veterans' organizations. Visitation is at Stomabugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, from 2-9 p.m. Thursday, and at the church for an hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of God or the American Cancer Society in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey OH 43316.

Beverly Jo Houser

FOREST - Beverly Jo Houser, West Bradenton, Fla., died at East Hospice House in Palmetto, Fla. at 1 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003. She was 47. Born in Kenton on Nov. 24, 1955, she was a daughter of Dale J. and Rosella M. (Groat) Weber. They survive in Upper Sandusky. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph, Bradenton, Fla.; and Jay, Thather, Ariz.; a daughter, Janna Rose Meeham, at home; a brother, Barry Weber, North Canton; and a sister, Becky Karg, Upper Sandusky. Ms. Houser attended Upper Sandusky High School. She was an office manager at Diplomat Taxi Service in Sarasota, Fla. She attended Emanuel United Methodist Church in Bradenton. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Forest, with the Rev. Joe Searfoss. Burial will be in Dunkirk Cemetery. Visitation is at the funeral home from 2-6 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bradenton, Fla.

Clarice Doehner

STRONGSVILLE - Clarice Agnes Doehner of Strongsville, died at Southwest General Health Care on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003. She was 78. Mrs. Doehner was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Cleveland. Surviving are her husband, Robert; three daughters, Elaine, Betty Fox and Patricia Ambrose; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Doehner was a homemaker. All services will be private and are being handled by Jardine Funeral Home, Inc. in Strongsville. Memorials may be made to the Strongsville Library, 18700 Westwood Drive, Strongsville OH 44136.
