Vera Mae Swanson
DAVIS -- Services for Vera Mae Swanson will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
Born April 29, 1918 at Oklahoma to Elmer and Susie Cook Surginer, she died Nov. 20, 1998 at Ardmore. She married Judson W. Swanson Dec. 19, 1934 at Velma Alma. He preceded her in death in 1970.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Smith, Ardmore; one son, Kenneth Lee Swanson, Ardmore; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.,
Services are under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

Rose Riley Goins
Memorial services for Rose Riley Goins, 93, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. C. Richard Mills, pastor, officiating.
Daughter of the late Will and Jessie Rose Riley, she was born April 27, 1905, at Marietta, Indian Territory. She died Nov. 22, 1998, in the local hospital following a brief illness.
She and J.I. Goins were married in 1932 at Marietta and they moved to Ardmore in 1947 from there. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Gardenia Garden Club and YWCA.
She graduated from Kidd-Key College at Sherman, Texas, and attended Southeastern State College. She taught school for a time in Marietta.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Karen Goins of Norman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and B.C. Harris of Shawnee, and Jan and Harry B. McCain of Shreveport, La.; a brother, Carl J. Riley of Marietta; four grandchildren, Michael Goins Harris of Little Rock, Ark., James David Harris of Houston, Sally Goins Pendarvis of Oklahoma City, and Laura Ann Goins of Norman; and four great-grandchildren, Sara Ann Harris and John Michael Harris of Little Rock, Mary Megan Pendarvis of Oklahoma City, and Maeve Murphy Harris of Houston. Her husband, J.I., preceded her in death in 1991.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Ardmore Garden Center.
Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home will direct services.

Lenia P. 'Tinker' Smith
Graveside rites for Lenia P. "Tinker" Smith will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Monty Baggett officiating.
Mrs. Smith died Nov. 20, 1998, in the local hospital following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 12, 1913, at Lone Grove, to Wade and Ollie Paschall Morse.
She was a longtime area resident and member of First Baptist Church. She and Homer L. Smith were married Feb. 4, 1934. He died May 5, 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Morris, and sister, Mae M. Cox, both of Ardmore; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by two brothers, Otis and Raymond Morse; and sister, Allene Morse.
Craddock Funeral Home will direct services.

Audrey L. Pifer
Funeral services for former Ardmore resident Audrey Lillian Pifer, 90, will be at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 25, 1998, at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel with Dr. Douglas R. Miller officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pifer died Nov. 22, 1998, in a Richardson, Texas, health care facility. She was born Aug. 28, 1908, at Oak Grove, Ark., to the late Elmer and Lydia Elizabeth Chapin Smith.
She was a member of the Richardson Community Christian Church. While in Ardmore she was a member of First Christian Church and former member of Order of Eastern Star, Mattie Bruce Chapter. She and George Mark Pifer were married June 21, 1933, in Houston. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1972.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Pifer of Garland, Texas, and Dan Pifer of Gun Barrel City, Texas; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by a son, Lloyd Burton Pifer, on Dec. 12, 1936.

Bedford H. Fine
ALLGOOD, Tenn. -- Graveside rites for Bedford H. Fine, Davis, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Allgood Cemetery in Allgood, Tenn., with the Rev. Chuck Branch officiating.
Allgood died Nov. 23, 1998, in Ardmore. He was born Nov. 5, 1923, at Roff, to Simon and Lucy Shirley Fine.
He and Jessie Boyd were married Feb. 4, 1923, at Cookville, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, of the home in Davis; a daughter, Rita Matheney, Cookville; son, Wayne, Clinton, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Joann Dodson, Tullahoma, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sparks, in 1986.
Fox Funeral Home will direct services.

Ruth Small Carlock
Private graveside rites for Ruth Virginia Small Carlock, 81, will be Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harvey-Douglas Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday.
Daughter of the late John Robert and Bessie Carson Small, she was born April 25, 1917, in Ardmore, and passed away Nov. 23, 1998, at her residence.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, she graduated from Ardmore High School and from William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. She married J. Hoyle Carlock on April 2, 1940, in Ardmore. He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1989.
Mrs. Carlock was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Sanctuary Guild and Ardmore Garden Club.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Carlock of Ardmore, and John Hoyle Carlock III, Denver; a daughter, Carol Dobry of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Elizabeth Douglas of Ardmore, and Betty Dulaney of Edmond; eight grandchildren, John H. Carlock IV, Carol Demont Carlock, Angela Dobry Bearden, Christopher Alan Dobry, Charles Andrew Carlock, Carey Elizabeth Carlock, Ashley Gayle Carlock and Thomas R. "Teal" Carlock, II; and a great-grandson, Miles Robert Bearden.
The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.

Oges Roberts Sr.
GENE AUTRY -- Services for former Gene Autry resident Oges Roberts Sr., 71, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Kirk Rushing officiating. Interment will be Monday at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Kirk-Dawson-Dillard Funeral Home.
Roberts died Nov. 21, 1998, at his home in Edmond. He was born June 27, 1927, in Oklahoma City, to Charlie and Artie M. Smith Roberts.
He had lived all his life in Ardmore and the Oklahoma City area and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Stromberg-Carlson and Rainbo Baking in Oklahoma City. He and Maedell Smith were married April 14, 1953.
He is survived by his wife, of the home; four sons, James Young, New Mexico, Milton Roberts, Oklahoma City, Gary and Oliver Roberts, Ardmore; four daughters, Mary Jones, Oklahoma City, Laura Prince, Guthrie, Donna Roberts-Boyles, Edmond, and Lala Taylor, Gene Autry; four brothers, Frank, Missouri, Charlie, William and Donald, all of California; 34 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Fransill, in 1992; and son, Oges Jr., in 1993.
Bearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.

Grace Jones Thomas
Services for Grace Jones Thomas will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Michael Wills officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Thomas, 95, was born June 11, 1903, in Ardmore, to Silas and Katie Day Jones. She died Nov. 24, 1998 in Arlington, Texas.
She was a former member and Sunday school teacher at First Christian Church and member of the Sew and So Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Lee Thomas, on Oct. 24, 1969; and two infant daughters, Wilma Lee and Mary Katherine.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy G. Follis, Arlington; a son, James W., Sunnyville, Texas; two brothers, Silas Jones, Garland, Texas, and Leland Jones, Ardmore; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Roger McDuffie, Dr. Mark Russell, Jimmy D. and Jeffrey L. Follis, Leland and Silas Jones.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service begins Friday.

Lelah May Watkins
MADILL -- Services for Lelah May Watkins will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Madill Church of Christ with Richard Jones and Ferris officiating. Interment will follow in Woodberry-Forest Cemetery.
Watkins was born July 4, 1900, in Indian Territory, what is now Johnston County. She later moved to the Teller Mountain Area and then to the Timber Hill area of Marshall county and finally moving to her residence near Little City. She was married to Albert Elverson Watkins on April 9, 1919. He preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1972. She was a member of the Madill Church of Christ. She died Nov. 25 in the Madill hospital following an illness.
She is survived by two sons, Harold Gene 'Doc' Watkins, Madill, Denver Watkins, Torrance, Calif.; four daughters, Marc Ann Jones, Madill, Lovena June Rollins, Northport, Ala., Weta Elva Thomas, Arcadia, JoEtta W. Kopezynski, Shawnee; two sisters, Tinnie Ruth Auten, Gladewater, Texas, and Letha Hister Buford, Shawnee; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and a grandson.
Bearers will be Todd McDonough, Vencent Rollins, Glenn Rollins, Caleb Ferris, Dennis Rollins, Bryce Watkins, Don Paulson, Tom Buxton, Jim Shores, Corey Jones and Dustin Watkins. Honorary bearers will be W.Y. Spence, P.F. Mills, Ed Benton, Maurice Brock, Pete Brewster and Bun Sparlin.

Ida Gladys Talkington
SULPHUR -- Services for Ida Gladys Talkington, 91, Sulphur, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Clagg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willard McCartney Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Drake-Nebo Cemetery.
Born Nov. 22, 1907, in Connerville, to John T. and Elsie Adella Rowden Tevis, she died Nov. 26, 1998, in Ardmore.
A life-long resident of the area, she was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She married J.B. Talkington Nov. 23, 1936, in Sulphur. He preceded her in death June 29, 1979.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Williams, Sulphur, and Gladys Mildred Webb, Mannsville; one son, Bill Talkington, Ardmore; one sister, Menillah Bow, Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Leo Tevis, and two sisters, Clara Little and Lovenia McCraw.
Bearers will be Rocky Mathis, Don Moore, Lonnie Smith, Steven Tully, Jack Maxwell and Travis Webb. Honorary bearers will be Thomas Morris and Albert Castleberry.

Marvin Thomas Fondren
Graveside services for Marvin Thomas Fondren will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Petersburg Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmie Taylor officiating.
Fondren was born July 14, 1912, at Bokhoma to Healdton Fondren and Alice Whitehead. He died Nov. 26, 1998, at the Headlton hospital following an illness.
Fondren was a lifelong farmer in the Courtney and Ringling areas. The World War II veteran married the former Lucy Johnson in 1957 and was a member of the Church of God in Ringling.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Faye Fondren of the home; seven daughters, Daisy Fondren, Wilson, Patricia Castleberry, Healdton, Susie Early, Duncan, Lillie Fondren, Duncan, Mary Anderson, Ft. Worth, Texas, Ethel Fondren, Oklahoma City, Jewel Fondren; two sons Marvin, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Elvis, Wilson; six stepchildren, Jody Malone, Ringling, Judy Burk, Mike Malone, Lampe, Mo., Corina Bryant, Oakland, Md., Ruth Orem, Austin, Texas, Delrena Richardson, Orr; one sister Pauline Deal, Healdton, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rufus and Gordon Fondren; three sisters, Mary Burton, Alice Glenn and Dovie Moore, and one son, Jessie Fondren.
Bearers will be Jim Blodgett, Jody Blodgett, Tankie Blodgett, Spivey Blodgett, Mark Gray, David Green and Rick Taylor.
Services are under the direction of the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Kenneth L. Aldridge
Services are pending with Craddock Funeral Home for Kenneth L. Aldridge, 66, Ardmore.
Mr. Aldridge was born July 31, 1932, in Berwyn, and died Nov. 27, 1998, in an Ardmore hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; three daughters, Linda Bamburg and Sharon Cox, Ardmore, and Debbie Denny, Lone Grove; one brother, James Wright, Dickson; two sisters, Betty Hill, Summerville, S.C. and Lavonn Roja, Idalou, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Vera Fay Collins-McDowell
Graveside services for Vera Fay Collins-McDowell, 91, were Nov. 25, 1998, in Madera, Calif.
Born Feb. 21, 1907, to Francis Marion and Minnie Pollard Wilson, in Cook County, Texas, she died Nov. 22, 1998, in a local hospital.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Madera Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Retha Rousey, Lone Grove, and five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Local arrangements by the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
