Helen 'Dale' Fall
TISHOMINGO -- Funeral services for Helen "Dale" Fall, 60, will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Corbin Memorial Chapel. Rev. Robert Yandell will officiate with interment at the Tishomingo City Cemetery.
Born Aug. 21, 1938, in Lawton to Thomas and Molly Lorena Thomas Hughes, she died Dec. 30, 1998, in Denison, Texas.
She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William "Pug" and Thomas "Tom" Hughes; and a sister, Judy Cook.
She is survived by four daughters, Tara Gorrell, Madill; April Dawn Sanchez, Yakima, Wash., Lisa Dannen Burns, Humble, Texas, and Tena Marie Anderson, Tishomingo; three sisters, Frances "Pinky" Rowe and Nancy "Jo" Shipley, Tishomingo, and Linda Elise Sweat, Moore; and 10 grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Corbin Funeral Home.

Tommy 'Tom' Jefferson Baxter
TISHOMINGO -- Graveside services for Tommy "Tom" Jefferson Baxter, 87, of Butcher Pen will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Condon Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jesse Craddock officiating.
Born Aug. 28, 1911, to Tommy Wesley and Lela Ann Franks Baxter in Eagletown, he died Dec. 30, 1998, in Madill.
A retired laborer, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charley Myers and Walter Baxter; three sisters, Mary Craddock, Bertha Wells and Dolly Campbell; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Zoetta Ruth (Holland), of the home; 10 sons, Vestal, Muskogee, Robert, Coburg, Ore., Don, Lebannon, Ore., Tommy and Wesley, Tishomingo, Vernon, Sweet Home, Ore., John, Walter, and Sherman Vaughn, Tishomingo, and Bobby Vaughn, El Reno; seven daughters, Dorothy Spriggs, Leona Goss, and Billie Ensley, Sweet Home, Ruby McCullom, Pat Culp, and Janet Harcrow, Tishomingo, and Virginia Baxter, Oklahoma City; one half-brother, Lloyd Mattingly, Ravia; and more than 100 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Corbin Funeral Home will direct services.

Vivian V. Fields
TISHOMINGO -- Services for Vivian V. Fields. 84, Ravia, will be noon Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Perry Crisp officiating. Interment will follow in the Ravia Cemetery.
Born July 21, 1914, to Robert and Grace Beane Sutton at Concrete, she died Dec. 30, 1998, in Ravia.
A member of the Methodist faith, she had lived in Ravia most of her life. Mrs. Fields had been a lunchroom manager at a Texas school.
She married J.E. Fields June 14, 1933, at Tishomingo. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Jim, Ravia; one brother, Jim Henry Sutton, Norman; one sister, Fannie Lou Willis, Oklahoma CIty; one grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

William Paul Overstreet
Services for former Ardmore resident William Paul Overstreet are pending from Angelus Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas.
Overstreet died Dec. 26, 1998.

G.E. 'Bill' Culley
Graveside services for lifelong resident G.E. "Bill" Culley, 88, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McAlister Cemetery, southwest of Ardmore, with the Rev. Stephen Harris officiating.
Born here Feb. 7, 1910, to Henry S. and Kate Phillips Culley, he died Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospital.
He married Eva Whitson in Marietta, Aug. 27, 1936, and was a retired field biologist for the U.S. Fish and wildlife Department. His wife preceded him in death, June 25, 1983.
He is survived by a daughter, La Donna Wood, Wilburton; three sons, Bill and Bob, Ardmore, and Bobby Armstrong, Oklahoma City; four sisters, Blanche Craighead, Ardmore, Hazel Fomby, Dallas, Texas, Eva Smith, Vallejo, Calif., and Jacko Hoffman, Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Craddock Funeral Home.

J.B. Norton
WILSON -- Funeral services for longtime Lone Grove resident J.B. Norton, 75, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Raymond Norton will officiate with interment in Hewitt Cemetery.
Born April 15, 1923, in McMillan to William Dalphus and Sallie Ellen Brumlow Norton, he went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Dec. 30, 1998, in Lone Grove.
Reared south of Wilson, he was united in marriage with the former Pauline Helen Odette Hacker Norton on July 19, 1942, at Minco and they had lived in the Lone Grove area most of their lives. He was employed by Rock Hill Oil Co. which later became Shore Line Petroleum and then Reserve Oil & Gas, retiring as a pumper after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Feb. 11, 1995; a son, Edwin on Dec. 1, 1976; two brothers, T.R. Norton on Dec. 6, 1969, and Dalphus Norton, Oct. 6, 1997.
J.B. was an inspiration to his family, church family and his many friends. An active member of the Gospel Lighthouse Pentecostal Church of Lone Grove, J.B. loved his Lord and would sit and talk about the Bible and God's love and mercy to all. He was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted family including three daughters, Millie and her husband Robert Sweeten, Ardmore; Carolyn Carter, Ardmore, and Gloria and her husband Benny Gothard, Lone Grove; five sons and their wives, Jim and Liz Norton, Ringling, Lonnie and Angela Norton, Ardmore, Johnny and Gwen Norton, Wilson, Rick and Carolyn Norton, Lone Grove, and Sam and Stephani Norton, Ardmore; a sister, Ruby Hacker, Muskogee; 20 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a loving host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be grandsons Jay Paul Norton, Coy Vasques, Marc Norton, Tim Gothard, Jeremy Norton, Andy Norton, and Matthew Norton. Honorary bearers will be all other grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Elsie Phelps Hannum
Graveside rites for Elsie Phelps Hannum, 91, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Mills officiating.
Born July 12, 1907, at Oakdale, Penn., to Thomas and Anna Martin Phelps, she died Dec. 31, 1998, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Hannum received her bachelor's degree at College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio. Her postgraduate work was done at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, and the University of Oklahoma. She received her library of science degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1956. She was employed as a librarian at the Ardmore Public Library until her retirement in 1972. She married C.E. Hannum, a local geologist, on Sept. 1, 1938. She was a member of the Oklahoma Library Association and the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Hannum, Denver, Colo.; two nephews, Curtis and Paul Hannum, both Los Angeles; one niece, Kristen Hannum, Portland, Ore.; one grand niece and grand nephew, Kira and Joshua Hannum, Portland.
Services are under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Helen Mae Waldon
BROKEN BOW -- Graveside rites for Helen Mae Waldon, 84, Ardmore, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Alvin Camp officiating.
Born July 8, 1914, at Merdes, La., to Kit Carson and Mattie Delia Whittle Taylor Hunkapiller, she died Jan. 1, 1999 at a local hospital. She was preceded in death by a son, Ivan Kit in 1986.
Raised in the Broken Bow area, she was a graduate of Broken Bow High School. She had lived in Mobile, Ala., for 57 years, working as the resident manager of the YWCA and a children's home. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Mobile. She moved to Ardmore in 1995.
Survivors include one brother, Claud Taylor, Ardmore; and one grandson.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.

Helen Hammon
HEALDTON -- Services for Helen Hammon, 85, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Eldon Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery.
Born Oct. 20, 1913, at Fox to Robert R. and Sally Reed Thompson, she died Dec. 31, 1998 at a Wilson health care facility. She married Gus Hammon on Aug. 11, 1928 at Ringling. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1972. She ws also preceded in death by two sons, Jake and Jim; and one daughter, Corrine.
Mrs. Hammon attended Zita and Healdton schools. She had lived at Healdton all of her life. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include three daughters. JoAnn VanBuskirk, Lone Grove, Laverne Henley, Wilson, and Sharon Wigham, Healdton; two sons, Kenneth Hammon and Paul Hammon, both Healdton; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be grandsons.
Services are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home.

John William Knight
Funeral services for John William Knight, 58, will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Jehovah Baptist Church. The Rev. George L. Stevenson will officiate with interment at Jehovah Cemetery.
Born Aug. 23, 1940, in Milo, to Ellison and Virgia Jackson Knight, he died Dec. 28, 1998, in the Ardmore hospital.
He grew up in the Milo area and attended schools at Lone Oak, Central, and Ardmore Douglass. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 where he served 17 years. He had worked as a mechanic for Ken Milburn and Fred Jones, and as manager for Vernon Manor Apartments in Tulsa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene; and five sisters, Odessa, Ozzie, Nancy, Madell, and Isabell.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffery L. Jones and John Jr., Oklahoma City; one daughter, Shawana Knight, Lawton; two sisters, Anna Mae Traylor, Ardmore, and Cozzie L. Prince, Tulsa; five brothers, Daniel, Ardmore, Frank, Milo, Ellison Jr., Oklahoma City, Charles, Springfield, Ill., and Roscoe, Wagoner; an aunt, Mae Atkinson, Perry; an uncle, N.D. Knight, Omaha, Neb.; and three grandchildren.
Ragsdale Grant & Sons Funeral Home will direct services.

Geraldine Seigler
SULPHUR -- Graveside rites for Geraldine Seigler, 81, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Iona Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Lovelady officiating.
Born Nov. 22, 1917, at Dierks, Ark., to John D. and Cora Stephens Morgan, she died Dec. 31, 1998 at Sulphur. She married Stanley C. Seigler Dec. 29, 1944. He preceded her in death April 22, 1978. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Fay Moore; and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Seigler lived most of her life in the Sulphur area.
Survivors include four daughters, Ann Chandler, Van Buren, Ark., Tina Cain and Jessie Robius, both Sulphur, and Diane Stewart, Oklahoma City; one son, Jack Bearden, Harrah; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Bearers are Jerry Cain Jr., David Maxon, Dwight Stewart, William Chandler, Barry Maxon and Michael Chandler.
Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.

John William 'Bill' Grissom
Services for John William "Bill" Grissom, 72, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Arlen Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born May 15, 1926, at Ardmore to John and V.A. Grissom, he died Jan. 1, 1999.
A lifelong resident of Ardmore, Grissom graduated from Ardmore High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy, where he served until the end of World War II. Bill graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in finance in 1949. In 1950 he and his brother, Bob, founded Community Finance Company and in 1963 founded Lincoln Bank and Trust Company where he served as president and chairman of the board of directors until his death.
Bill loved both the air and sea. He earned his pilot's license at the age of 15 and remained an active pilot for many years. Another of his projects was the complete restoration of a 1939 Chriscraft wooden cabin cruiser.
Survivors include one son, Randy Grissom, and his wife, Gail, Ardmore; daughters, Cathy Bolding, Oklahoma City, and Nancy Wilson and her husband, James, Oklahoma City; his former wife, Anna Grissom, Ardmore; his brother, Bob, and his wife, Helen, Ardmore; and grandchildren, Geoffe and Karyn Bolding and Katie Wilson.
Bearers are Rick Simms, Tim Berryhill, Jerry Nance, Bob Grissom, Harold Holden, Bill Reed, Roger Gray and Bill Gentry.
Memorials may be made to the University of Oklahoma Foundation Inc., 100 Timberdell Road, Norman, OK 73019.

Jim Elmore
OKLAHOMA CITY -- Services for Jim Elmore will be 10 a.m. Monday at the South Colonial Chapel of Vondel Smith Mortuary. Graveside rites will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Springer Cemetery.
Elmore died Jan. 1. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Willie Mae Elmore, and one brother, Gary Elmore.
Survivors include his wife, Pat, of the home: three sons, Brad, Rodney and Kelly Elmore; one daughter, Sidney Word; one stepdaughter, Clara Jones; three brothers, Jerry, Monty and Ronnie Elmore; one sister, Linda Newton; and nine grandchildren.

Alpha May Lightfoot Murphey
SHERMAN, Texas -- Services for Alpha May Lightfoot Murphey, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Born Sept. 28, 1908, at Bennington to James L. and Willie Victoria Bingham Lightfoot, she died Jan. 1, 1999, at a local hospital. She married Burton Carl Murphey June 7, 1930, at Ringling. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1977.
Mrs. Murphey graduated from Dundee High School near Healdton. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She taught school in Dundee and Ardmore for many years before moving to Texas where she taught at Whitesboro and Sherman. She began teaching at Wakefield in its inaugural year and retired from the school after 33 years of teaching in 1976.
Mrs. Murphy was a life member of both the Easter Star and Parent Teacher Association, a former member of the American Association of University Women, and a member of both the Texas state and local Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Sherman, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Matron's Sunday School class, for which she played the piano for a number of years.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Ruth Murphey, Whitesboro; grandsons, Scott Murphey, his wife, Nancy, and sons, Travis and Jack, Whitesboro; Dee Pat Murphey, and his wife, Kathy, and son, Chance, Sherman; one granddaughter, Beverly Thomas, and her husband, Tony, and daughters Cristie and Patty, Dallas; and many nieces and nephews.
Bearers are Scott Murphey, Dee Murphey, Tony Thomas, Chance Murphey, Travis Murphey, and Jack Murphey.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church at Sherman, or St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Sherman.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today.
