Gonzales dies at 2:02 pm
Memorial services for Penny Cathrine (Shindler) Gonzales, age 40 of Muskogee, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the First Methodist Church at Custer City.
Gonzales died Sunday, Sept. 12, at a Muskogee nursing home where she had lived for the past four years. She was born on Jan. 8, 1964 at Thomas, the daughter of Thomas and Velma (Stroud) Shindler.

She grew up in Custer City and attended school there. Loving to travel, she had been all over the United States.

Her mother preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Gonzales; her father, Thomas Shindler; two sons, Jerry Spencer and Casey Capps; a daughter, Harline Capps; two sisters, Velma Hertz of Hydro, Coequetta Riggs of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Casey and Autumn.

Rites Monday for Goldston at 1:24 pm
Funeral services for Katherine Goldston, age 96 of Edmond and formerly of Enid, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel at Enid with Danny Mize officiating.

Graveside services are set for the same day at 3 p.m. in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery.

Goldston died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in Edmond. She was born on May 22, 1908 near Vigo Park, Texas, the daughter of Philip Kysar and Rebecca Bell (Massey) Derr.

She grew up in Vigo Park and Shamrock, Texas before moving to Custer City in 1922.

In 1926 she married Lynn Wyett. She trained at the Enid Beauty College and operated a beauty shop in Custer City and then in Waynoka.

After moving back to Custer City she owned and operated a restaurant for several years until her retirement.

On Jan. 9, 1978 she married Charles “Tip” Goldston in Custer City. They moved to Enid in 1985, and after his death she moved to Edmond in March of 2004.

In addition to her husband, who died on Feb. 19, 2003, others who preceded her in death included four brothers, Bill, Clyde, Charlie, Fred; and four sisters, Anna, Grace, Lena and Bessie.

Survivors include a daughter, Margie Cunningham of
Edmond; three sons, Bob Wyett and his wife, JoAnn, of Lubbock, Texas, Bill Goldston and his wife, Ricarda, of Long Island, N.Y., Roy Goldston and his wife, Alta, of Waurika; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

The family suggests that those who desire may make memorial contributions in her honor to either the Good Shepherd Hospice of The Kids’ Place.

JaLisa Hale services set at 3:09 pm

Funeral services for JaLisa Kay Hale, age 18 of Weatherford, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ at Weatherford with James Cudd and Bruce Lewis officiating.

JaLisa died early Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born on Oct. 9, 1985 in Tulsa, the daughter of Ronald and Johnna (Rasmussen) Hale.

She graduated from Weatherford High School in May and was enrolled at Arleen’s Beauty Academy in Clinton at the time of her death.

In high school she was active in band and cheerleading. She was a captain of the color guard, was listed in Who’s Who in Sports and was selected to play in the K101 Honor Band at Woodward.

Burial will conclude in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include her parents; a son, Jaron, of the home; a sister, Myndi Hale of the home; a brother, Jared Hale and his wife, Peyton (Stovall), of Edmond; paternal grandparents, Willard and Phyllis Hale; maternal grandparents, Ras and Barbara Rasmussen; and a great grandmother, Lavone Hale, all of Hinton.

The family suggests that those who desire may make memorial contributions to a fund for Jaron at Mid First Bank in Weatherford.

Bose private rites planned at 3:08 pm

Private family services are planned for Donald Bose, age 82 of Bessie, who died at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004. He grew up in Bessie and graduated from Bessie High School.
Bose entered the Army Air Corps and was a second lieutenant in the 467th Fighter Squadron who fought in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the VFW.

In 1950 he married Gertrude Rempfer in Clinton. They lived and farmed in Bessie for many years.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Edward Bose Sr. and Margaret Buffing Bose; his wife, Gertrude; a brother, Victor Bose; and a sister, Anna Marie Bose.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include brothers, Edward Bose Jr. of Bessie, James Bose of Stillwater, Robert Bose of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Lucille Streeb of Englewood, Colo., Yvonne Baker of Rogers, Ark., Marjorie Bose of Weatherford, Delores Mesnck of Tulsa; sons, Bradley Bose of Stillwater, Ken Bose and his wife, Pattie, of Parker, Colo.; and three grandchildren.

Dale Snider's rites Monday at 6:30 pm

Funeral services for long-time minister Rev. Dale R. Snider, age 70, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church of Thomas with Rev. Larry Harlan, Rev. Bruce Brotherton and Rev. Jim Shepherd officiating.

Burial will follow in the Butler Cemetery.

Dale Ray Snider died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1934 at Butler, the son of Thurston and Gladys (Dunn) Snider.

Reared in Butler, he graduated from Butler High School in 1952 and went on to farm with his father.

On Oct. 17, 1954 he married Betty Bruner in Butler, and they made their first home there where he continued to farm for a short time before he was called into the ministry.

He served 12 congregations throughout Western Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Panhandle before retiring in 1999.

In addition, he had held many other jobs while in the ministry. Since his retirement he had worked for the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton, which was handling the arrangements for his funeral.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton and an honorary member of the Future Farmers of America.

Rev. Snider enjoyed doing woodwork and carpentry. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid University of Oklahoma fan.

He enjoyed working with show-quality farm animals and helping kids with their farming projects.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Freddie; and two sons, Jackie Dale Snider and Gary Ray Snider.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, and son, Leslie Snider, both of the home; two daughters, Kim Sweeten of Midwest City, Rhonda Maxwell and her husband, Dale, of Fort Supply; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his twin sister, Doris Shepherd, and her husband, Roy, of Arapaho; and three brothers, Cecil Snider and his wife, Flora Jean, of Owasso, D.J. Snider and his wife, Vernell, of Weatherford, Herschel Snider and his wife, Norma Dean, of McAlester.

The family has suggested that those who desire may make memorial contributions in Rev. Snider’s honor to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Sharon Talbot rites Monday at 6:29 pm

Funeral services for Sharon Talbot, age 46 of Elk City, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Whinery-Savage Funeral Service in Elk City with Mark Little and Douglas Stevens officiating.
Talbot died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004. She was born on Oct. 23, 1958 in Elk City, the daughter of Geraldine and Harley Tom Talbot.

She grew up in the Elk City area before moving with her family to Grover, Texas.

In 1973, she married Raymond Stipe in Grover where they made their home.

While in Grover she worked for Cargil Industries where she was the first woman foreman.

In the late 1970’s, Talbot started working for Phillips Petroleum where she was a mechanic for 16 years.

After working for Phillips she continued her mechanic career by attending American Marine Institute in Daytona Beach, Fla. where she graduated second in her class.

She then returned to Elk City to be close to her mother and eventually opened Talbot’s Boat Repair.

Preceding her in death were her father and her paternal grandparents.

Burial will be at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City.

Survivors include her mother, Geraldine Fanshier of Elk City; four brothers, Tommy Brinkley and his wife, Sharon, of Moore, Jerry Brinkley of Elk City, Arnold Fanshier and his wife, Christine, of Clinton, Michael Fanshier of Elk City; a sister, Teresa Fanshier of Elk City; 14 nieces and nephews; and nine great nieces and nephews.

Perry rites Saturday at 4:58 pm

Funeral services for Patricia J. (Walkup) Perry, age 55 of Clinton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Church of God at Clinton with Rev. Roy Dobbs and Rev. Troy Dobbs officiating.

Perry died early Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at her Clinton home. She was born on April 28, 1949 in Sayre, the daughter of Garnett James and Billie Jo (Griffin) Walkup.

She grew up in Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle before graduating from Sayre High School and attending Rose State College and Oklahoma State University.

Perry worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation for more than 21 years before retiring in 2002 and moving to Clinton.

In her spare time, Perry loved to garden, sew, cook and do craft work. She also enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Nev.

Preceding her in death were her father; a son, Clarence “Rowdy” Perry, Jr. in 1987; and two sisters, Nellie Jo and Betty Jo Walkup.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence, of Oklahoma City; her mother, Billie Jo Walkup of Clinton; two sisters, Rebecca Sue Corley and her husband, Jimmy, of Pampa, Texas, Jo Ann Gonzales and her husband, Manuel, of Woodward; two brothers, Leslie Walkup of Clinton, Johnny and Jacqueline Walkup of Arlington, Texas; 12 nieces and nephews; and 18 great nieces and nephews.

Clariece Mills funeral slated at 5:54 pm
Funeral services for Clariece Lyn Mills, age 56 of Cogar, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of God in Binger with Rev. Curtis Robertson officiating.

Mills died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at her home. She was born on Jan. 3, 1948 at Anadarko, the daughter of C.C. and Margaret “Roxie” (Shook) Phelps.

A graduate of Binger High School, she attended Draughan’s Business College and married Ray Mills on Dec. 22, 1966 at Oklahoma City.

She had lived in the Cogar area most of her life and was a member of the Hub City Squares Square Dancing Club in Clinton.

Mills was president-elect of the Oklahoma State Square Dance Federation for 2005.

She also was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church where she had taught preschool Sunday school classes for a number of years.

She also had made and marketed lye soap for several years and had worked as a rehabilitation training specialist in Anadarko for five years.

Burial will be in the Niles Cemetery at Hinton under the direction of the Turner Funeral Home in Binger.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Mills of the home in Cogar; two children, Dena Scott and her husband, Mark, of Stillwater, Carson Mills of El Reno; three grandchildren, Ryan and Nick Mills of El Reno, Jacob Scott of Stillwater; two brothers, Jesse Phelps of Cogar, Edward Phelps of Midwest City; and two sisters, Dorothy Kerlick of Cogar and Idella Kline of South Carolina.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents, were three brothers, Joe, Charles and Athel Phelps.

Services set Wednesday for Jo Quinn at 5:53 pm
Chapel services for Jo Ila Quinn, age 76 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Larry Adams officiating.
Jo Ila Strawn Quinn died very unexpectedly at her son’s home in Mustang on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004. She was born on Nov. 25, 1928 in Elk City, the daughter of Robert and Phara (Downs) Strawn.

Quinn was reared in Elk City as well as Nebraska and at Boulder, Colo. where she graduated from high school.

She moved with her family back to Sayre where she attended then Sayre Junior College.

She met and later married Dale E Quinn on Jan. 28, 1950 in Sayre.

They moved to Clinton, and she worked for Lin Manufacturing Co. as well as serving as a cook in the Clinton Public Schools and working for the Clinton Laundry and Cleaners and Clinton Regional Hospital.

She retired from the former Western Trails Museum after working there for several years in 1990.

A member of the First Baptist Church, she enjoyed handwork such as crocheting and reading.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Dale; and an infant daughter, Cathy Jo Quinn.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Quinn and Brad Quinn, both of Tulsa, Kevin Quinn of Mustang; three grandchildren, Kyle Quinn and Tyler Quinn of Mustang and Sean Wallace of Prosper, Texas; and four brothers, Robert Strawn, Jr. of Gulf Shores, Ala., W.O. “Dub” Strawn of Portland, Wash., Jerry Strawn of Sequim, Wash. and Duane Strawn of Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

B.J. Trentham services set at 5:53 pm
Graveside services for Bobby Jack “B.J.” Trentham, age 80 and a former Clinton resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rose Cemetery at Hobart with Terry Brooks of Clinton officiating.
Trentham died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at his Dallas, Texas home following a battle with cancer. He was born on July 15, 1924, the son of Allen P. and Rosa E. (Schaeffer) Trehtham in Hobart.

Reared in Hobart, he was an alumnus of Hobart High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1942, serving during World War II.

He was honorably discharged in June of 1945 and returned to Hobart where he worked in the oil fields and later began his career with Oklahoma Natural Gas.

He was transferred to Muskogee where he met and later married Brenda Highfill.

ONG transferred him to Clinton in 1967 where he worked until his retirement in 1987. He also was a volunteer firefighter for a number of years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton and enjoyed gardening and yard work in his retirement years.

Trentham had lived in Dallas for the past eight years for medical reasons.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include his son, Bart, and his wife, Tami, and two grandchildren, Brandon and Haleigh, all of Broken Arrow; a sister, Rosa Lee Smith of Wichita, Kans.; and several nieces and nephews, including Jim Trentham of North Richland Hills, Texas and Sharon Salsman and her –husband, C.L. “Satly,” of South Lake, Texas.

The family will greet guests at the funeral home in Clinton from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

The family has suggested that those who desire may make memorial contributions in Trentham’s honor to the First Baptist Church in Clinton.
