Gilbert Adler services set at 4:07 pm
Funeral services for Gilbert William Adler, age 92 of Clinton, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Carol Waters officiating.

Adler was born on Oct. 6, 1913 at Corn, the son of Peter John and Mollie Schaefer Adler.

He attended the Springfield school and graduated from Corn Bible Academy where he was a member of the band. He also attended the Zion Congregational Church near Corn at that time.

After graduation, Adler worked on the family farm and began selling life insurance in Clinton.

In 1939 he met Mattie Norene Corn of Thomas, and they were married on Oct. 6, 1941.

They then moved to Tulia, Texas where they farmed for five years before returning to Clinton in 1946.

Adler entered into a real estate partnership with M.C. Main before becoming owner of Gilbert Adler Real Estate. He and Norene retired in 1975.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton where he served as a deacon and elder. He also was in the church choir for 50 years.

Adler also was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, holding several offices including past worshipful master. He received his club 50-year pin just last month and continued to hold his membership as a 32nd Degree Mason in Guthrie. He also was a member of Rotary Club for 45 years.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were a brother, Albert Adler; and a sister, Elnora Rowland.

Survivors include his wife, Norene; and a sister, Goldie McKelvy of Vici.

Buddy Segler services set at 4:06 pm
Funeral services for Buddy Segler , age 17 of Dill City, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Burns Flat-Dill City High School Gymnasium in Burns Flat with Reverend Scott Liner officiating.
Buddy died Sunday, April 23, 2006, as the result of an automobile accident north of Sentinel. Further details appeared in an article in Monday’s Daily News.

He was born on Nov. 25, 1988 at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to Sunny and Karen (Ensey) Segler.

The family moved to Dill City in 1998 where Buddy was a junior at the Burns Flat-Dill City High School.

He was active in the Student Council, Spanish Club, junior-senior play, Club S.C.R.U.B. and weightlifting. He also taught abstinence classes.

Interment will follow at the South Burns Cemetery under the direction of McClure Funeral Homes of Cordell and Sentinel.

Survivors include his parents, Sunny and Karen Segler of Dill City; a sister Kaitlin Segler of Dill City; and grandparents, Ralph and Lavern Ensey of Dill City and Orval and Susie Segler of Cordell.

Wendell Stockton rites Monday at 12:36 pm
Funeral services for Wendell Leroy Stockton, age 87 and a former Clinton businessman and farmer, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Shane Hall and Robin Palesano officiating.

Stockton died early Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the Jim Thorpe wing of Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1918 in Dewey County, the son of John and Mabel (Smith) Stockton.

He moved west of Clinton with his parents when he was three years old and attended the Union Country School before graduating from Clinton High School in 1936.

Stockton and Bettye Patterson eloped on her prom night, May 10, 1940, at Hobart.

The couple made their home 2˝ miles west of Clinton, moving into Clinton in 1949. But Stockton continued to farm until he was 82 and operated a Gulf service station until 1985.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Stockton was a junior master farmer while in high school and later was an Honorary FFA Member. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a brother, Charles Stockton.

Burial will be in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton. Visitation was scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bette Stockton of the home; a son, Bill Stockton and his wife, Carol, of Fairview; a daughter, Sherry England and her husband, Larry, of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Rick Stockton of Los Angeles, Calif., Sonya Stockton of Edmond, Karen Ashcraft of Oklahoma City, Alen Pierce and Nance Niles, both of Fairview; great grandchildren, Wendell Reed Stockton, Grace Elizabeth Stockton, Tracy Ashcraft, Blake Ashcraft, Sierra Peirce, Bethany Niles, Grant Niles; a sister-in-law, Joyce Stockton of Clinton; and a nephew, Roger Stockton of Nebraska.

The family has suggested that those wishing to make memorial contributions in honor of Stockton may do so to the preschool fund of the First Baptist Church.

Prough services set at 3:06 pm
Funeral services for Lillian Lorena Prough, 61, of Cordell will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Cordell with Rev. Doyle Roake officiating.

Lorena, affectionately called Poodle by her family, was born August 8, 1944 in Dover, Tennessee to Eugene and Leona Mae (Hicks) Smith and died Thursday, April 20, 2006.

She was united in marriage to Gary Prough on April 23, 1988 in Wheeler, Texas. She worked as a receptionist at Tradewinds Motel in Clinton, Oklahoma for 15 years. Lorena was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover, Tennessee. She enjoyed garage sales, gardening and reading, especially the Bible. She loved spending time with her family. She loved to sing and was a favorite of many because of her unique voice. She loved to sing the “old” country and bluegrass songs. She was also an attentive newsperson.

Lorena is survived by her loving husband, Gary Prough of the home; 1 son, Jerry Don McConnell of Norman; two daughters, Marty Cossey of Washington, Oklahoma and

Shannon Patton of Washington, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Ora Jerlene Kilpatrick of Cordell, 1 brother, Gene Smith of Clarksville, Tennessee; 2 nephews, Tom Hutchinson of Cordell; Bill Hutchinson of Albequerque, New Mexico; 1 niece, Lynne Maes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren, Amber Griffin, Heather Griffin, Jerry McConnell, III, Ashley McConnell, Brian McConnell, Jennifer McConnell, and Taylor Owens.

Lorena was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Raymond Smith.

Burial will be in the Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart under the direction of Hackney-Gish Funeral Home of Hobart.

Edith Hall funeral set at 2:57 pm
Funeral services for Edith Hazel Hall, age 87 of Clinton, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Allison (Texas) High School Auditorium with Rev. Shawn Zybach officiating.

Burial will conclude in the Wheeler, Texas Cemetery.

Hall died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the Grace Living Center at Clinton. She was born on May 5, 1918 in Tarrant County, Texas, the daughter of John and Nellie Mae (Jackson) Magers.

Reared in Washita County, she attended the Port School and married Vernon B. Hall in 1936.

The young couple farmed near Port before moving to Cordell.

They then moved to Texas where they farmed for 40 years before retiring to Clinton in 1985. She worked alongside her husband on the farm.

Hall was a member of the Dill City Church of Christ.

Preceding her in death, along with her husband, were a daughter, Betty Jean Couch of Guthrie; brothers, Wade and Mack Magers; and a sister, Jewel Dobbins.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include a son, Johnny Hall of Wichita, Kan.; a sister, Rena Goldsborough of Clinton; five grandchildren, Susan Couch Atwell of Moore, Jim Couch of Norman, Ron Couch of Phoenix, Ariz., Allen Hall and Kristina Hall Terrall, both of Wichita, Kan.; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Gaston Gray visitation set at 2:57 pm
Visitation for Gaston Lee Gray, age 68 of Clinton, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in downtown Clinton with the burial to conclude at a later date.
Gray died early Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at his home. He was born on March 10, 1938 in Custer City, the son of Leroy and Delilah (Lee) Gray.

Growing up in Clinton, he graduated from Clinton High School in 1956 and married Annette Morris in 1959 at Clarksville, Ark.

They lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma while Gray worked as a carpenter and in construction.

Preceding him in death, along with his parents, was a sister, Leota.

Survivors include a daughter, Dea Ann Calvert of Greenwood, Ark.; sons, Jeffrey and Jason, both of Clarksville, Ark.; and a granddaughter, Katie Calvert.

Sharon Stehr rites Friday at 2:56 pm
Funeral services for Sharon Louise Stehr, age 55 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Gary Jones and Rev. Shane Hall officiating.
Stehr died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. She was born on March 3, 1951 in Clinton, the daughter of William Lester and Vera (McCluskey) McMullin.

Having spent her early years in Weatherford, she graduated from high school there.

She had also lived in Arapaho, Thomas and Clinton, working for the past nine years for the S&D Drug Store in Clinton.

She was a VFW Auxiliary member.

Preceding her in death were an infant son, Carroll, Jr.; her parents; a sister, Carolyn Jernigan; and her stepmother, Irene.

Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include her husband, Dwain, of the home; sons, Kevin of Arkansas, David of Dill City, George of Texas; stepchildren, Lisa, Larry, Rodney, all of Altus, Michael of Clinton; a sister, Geneva Thoresen of South Dakota; a brother, W.E. McMullin and his wife, Leanna, of Fay; and several grandchildren.

Deputy rites set Tuesday at 3:15 pm
Funeral services for Ed Jody Deputy, 82, long time Washita County resident, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the First Baptist Church of Cordell with Rev. Ste-ven Laufer, grandson, and Rev. Doyle Roark officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sharon Cemetery, north of Gotebo under the di-rection of the Jack Loft-iss Funeral Home.

He died on April 15, 2006 after battling heart disease for sev-eral years.

He was born Dec. 28, 1923, to Edd and Hattie (Chappelear) Deputy in his parents’ home lo-cated in the Lake Val-ley community north of Gotebo.

He graduated from Lake Valley High School in 1941 and went on to further his education at Central State University.

He married Helen Inez Shrum on May 22, 1943 and from that union they had two daugh-ters, Jodie Inez and Lou Cinda. They lived and worked in the Lake Val-ley and Cordell com-munities until Helen’s death on March 21,1984.

On Nov. 14, 1984, he married Sybil Burke Denton and they made their home in Cordell.

He served the state of Oklahoma for 35 years as a Game Ranger.

He was a member of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church at Lake Valley, but also at-tended Calvary Mis-sionary Baptist Church in Cordell.

In addition to his par-ents and wife Helen, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cla-rence Jodie of Lake Val-ley; and four sisters, Jewel Delk of Clinton, Mae Cox of Cordell, Mary Swafford of Wich-ita Falls, Texas, and Fern Lomenick of Co-manche; and a grand-son, Bradley Laufer of Elk City.

Deputy is survived by his wife Sybil of Cor-dell; his two daughters, Jodie Laufer and husband Danny and Cindy Buckmaster and husband Ron, all of Elk City; one step-daughter, Kristi Sherwood of Cor-dell; grandchildren, Steven and Jana (Pot-ter) Laufer of Mt. Olive, Miss., Chris and Ashley (Jones) Laufer and Eric Buckmaster all of Elk City; two step-grandsons, Jeremy Hall of Dill City and Jarrod Hall of Cordell; three great-grandsons and one step-great-grandson.

Carpenter services set Wednesday at 3:14 pm
Funeral services for Howard Carpenter, 96, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Robin Palesano and Rev. Shane Hall offici-ating.
Burial will conclude at the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiseau-Lee Funeral Home of Clinton.

He died Monday, April 17, 2006, at the United Methodist Healthcare Center in Clinton.

He was born March 25, 1910, in Butler to George and Elizabeth (Brown) Carpenter. He grew up in Butler and graduated from Butler High School in 1928.

He married Jewell Shelby on Dec. 12, 1931 in Butler. The couple lived and farmed in Butler until 1947 when they moved to Arapaho to continue farming.

A year ago he moved to the Angelwood Nursing Home when his health started to decline and in January moved to the United Methodist Healthcare Center.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1990; a daughter, Wanda Sue Nickel; three sisters, Carrie Powers, Zelma Autrey, an infant sister; and three brothers, Carl, Frank and Dwain Car-penter.

He is survived by his sons, Donald Carpenter and wife Mona of Clin-ton, Bob Carpenter and wife Linda of Arapaho, Jack Carpenter and wife Yvonne of Clinton, Roger Carpenter of Clinton; sisters, Rachel Johnson of Sedgewick, Kan., Doris Gage of Richardson, Texas, Melba Collins of Hammon; a brother, Arthur Carpenter and wife Wina Vee of But-ler; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will start Tuesday morning and the family suggests memorials be made to the Okla-homa Cancer Research Fund.

Thomas rites set Tuesday at 12:43 pm
Beatrice “Bea” Thomas, of El Reno, Oklahoma, daughter of William and Rhoda Sessions Rolison was born on March 8, 1921 in Butler, Oklahoma and passed away on April 14, 2006.

Bea was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Berean Sunday School Class where she enjoyed participating in the Women’s Circle Meetings and the Prayer Chain. Bea was also a long-time volunteer with mobile meals.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Aude E. Thomas. She is survived by her son, A. J. Thomas of El Reno, Oklahoma and her daughter, Auda Marie Thomas of Harrah, Oklahoma and her sisters, Kathryn Province of North Hollywood, California, Mary Ellen Bates of Custer City, Oklahoma, Rose Patocka of Enid, Oklahoma, Billie Lax of Clinton, Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

Services under the direction of Smith-Parks Funeral Service in Harrah will be Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church in El Reno with viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at 3:15 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
