Services set for Russell at 4:31 pm
Services for former Thomas funeral home director Elmer Eugene Russell, Jr., age 82 of Oklahoma City, will include a Rosary at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Vondel L. Smith & Son Funeral Home North at Oklahoma City; Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City; and a graveside service at 3 p.m. Friday at the Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas.

Born on Oct. 29, 1923 in Burkburnett, Texas to Elmer E. Russell, Sr. and Carrie Morris, he died Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, in Oklahoma City.

He married Dorothy Bitsche in Chickasha on Feb. 5, 1949.

Russell served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He also served during the Korean War.

A graduate of the Dallas, Texas School of Mortuary Science, he was a licensed funeral director and embalmer for more than 50 years

He worked at various funeral homes prior to purchasing and operating the Russell Funeral Home in Thomas.

Elmer and Dorothy retired to Weatherford. They then moved to Lake Eufaula before eventually relocating to St. Ann’s Retirement Center in Oklahoma City in 2004.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepmother, Edna Russell; two sisters, Grace Russell and Margarett Bennett; and one grandson, Robert Russell, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four sons, Bob Russell and his wife, Marsha, of Claremore, Don Russell and his wife, Vicki, of Oklahoma City, Steve Russell and his wife, Jean, of Tulsa, Tom Russell and his wife, Linda, of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Louise Maloy and her husband, Lynn, of Arapaho, Margarett Downie and her husband, Rob, of Edmond; one brother, Harold Russell and his wife, Vicky, of Duncanville, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Services set for Wood at 8:30 am
Funeral services for Lorraine Wood, age 89 of Cordell, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Cordell with Marvin Kehl and Carl Thionett officiating.
Wood died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2006, at the Corn Heritage Village. She was born on June 23, 1917 in Dill City, the daughter of Sam and Inez (Young) Killer.

Married to James Homer Wood in March of 1935, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were two sisters, Earlene Botchlet and Ann Johnson; and a brother, LeRoy Killer.

Burial will follow in the North Burns Cemetery at Burns Flat under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home.

Survivors include three daughters, Sherry Summers and her husband, Joe, of Marble Falls, Texas, Barbara Blanton of Yukon, Ladonna Kerley and her husband, Jim, of Paris, Texas; a brother, Jimmy Keller; and 12 grandchildren.

Services set for Eikenbary at 5:01 pm
Funeral services for Leona Marie Britton Eikenbary, age 90 of Colony, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Colony Baptist Church with Rev. Truman Smith and Rev. Larry Matthiesen officiating.

Eikenbary died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. She was born on Dec. 3, 1915 in Chandler, the daughter of Henry and Beulah Elizabeth (Deaton) Britton.

Reared in Follett, Texas, she graduated from Follett High School in 1932 and married Woodrow Wilson Eikenbary on Nov. 30, 1935 in Arnett.

She worked as a church secretary and secretary of a tag office but was primarily a homemaker.

Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home, Inc. in Weatherford.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Amen of Weatherford, Betty Smith of Madisonville, Texas; a brother, Alvin Edward Britton of Oregon; four sisters, Jessie Mae Booth of El Reno, Elsie Norwood of Abilene, Texas, Bonnie Cartwright of Amarillo, Texas, Ruth Edwards of Prague; seven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were an infant son, George Alvin; a daughter, Elizabeth Matthiesen; and two sisters, Annabelle Bales and Fay Woodard.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Leona’s honor to the Colony Baptist Church.

Services set for Espinosa at 5:01 pm
Funeral services for David Arthur Espinosa, age 26 of Cordell, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Assembly of God Church in Cordell with Doyle Roark officiating.
Espinosa died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, in Oklahoma City. He was born on June 17, 1980 in Carnegie, the son of Jose P. and Hope (Castillo) Espinosa.

He attended school in Carnegie and worked for Allied Waste Co.

Burial will follow in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home of Cordell.

Survivors include his parents; his wife, Amy, of the home; three children, Whitley, David, Jr., Gabriella and one on the way; three brothers, Joe Espinosa, Jr., Adam Espinosa, Sr., J.B. Espinosa, Sr.; and five sisters, Yvette Gonzales, Eva Heim, Celia Wells, Hopie Espinosa and Linda Fagan.

Gilbert services set at 8:16 am
Chapel services for Helen Francis Gilbert, age 65 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel at the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Lee Gleason officiating.

Burial will conclude at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha.

Born on Oct. 27, 1940, in Chickasha, the daughter of Willie and Alma Oleta (Miller) Briscoe, Gilbert died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital.

She grew up in Chickasha and attended school there until 1957 when her family moved to Colorado.

In l983 she moved back to Oklahoma, settling in the Clinton area and going to work at the Quick Shop.

On May 1, 1987, she married Bill C. Gilbert in Graham, Texas, and they made their home in Clinton. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Audra and Roy Owen Briscoe; and a sister, Daisy Lee Briscoe.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; five daughters, Donna Huffman of Virginia, Debby Phillips and Rhonda Bailey, both of Colorado, Chelly Gilbert and B.J. Gilbert, both of Indiana; three sons, Tim Huffman of Colorado, Gene Parsons and Billy Gilbert, both of Alaska; three sisters, Ruby Cline of Oklahoma City, Faye Deal of Elk City, Dorothy Davis of Del City; a brother, Tommy Briscoe of Fort Worth, Texas; 21 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Heap of Birds rites Monday at 11:46 am
Funeral services for Shannon Heap of Birds, age 26 of Vici, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford with Gerald Pananna and Mitchell Beartrack officiating.

There will be a wake service at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Heap of Birds died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in Camargo as the result of an auto accident. He was born on Sept. 3, 1980 in Watonga, the son of Kingsley and Margaret (Johnston) Heap of Birds.

He was reared and attended schools in the Thomas and Weatherford areas, graduating from Weatherford High School in 2000.

Heap of Birds worked with the casinos, ColorTyme and was a Cheyenne and Arapaho wildlife firefighter. At the time of his death he was working for H-40 Drilling Company.

Burial will follow in the Chief Black Short Nose Original Cemetery south of Thomas.

Survivors include his parents, Kingsley and Margaret Heap of Birds of Thomas; his fiancée, Krystal Tucker of Vici; two sons, Tavaris and Tyrone Heap of Birds of Sayre; two step-children, Navi Nance and Tyler Tucker of Vici; two brothers, Freedom Shawn Heap of Birds of Thomas, George Hicks of Clinton; three sisters, Chasity Luv Heap of Birds of Thomas, Geraldine Hicks of Clinton, Dana Fletcher of El Reno; a paternal grandfather, Alfrich Heap of Birds of Thomas; and maternal grandparents, Lorren and Sylvia Johnston of Weatherford.

Prock services set at 11:46 am
Funeral services for Don Prock, age 79 of Weatherford, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church at Weatherford with Pastor Earl Stephenson and Bob Evans officiating.
Prock died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at Southwestern Memorial Hospital in Weatherford. He was born on Feb. 19, 1927 in Hollis, the son of Otto and Myrtle (Flanagan) Prock.

He was reared and attended school in Hollis, graduating in 1945, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1945 to 1947.

On June 27, 1948, Prock married Peggy Cavness in Hollis. He received his BS degree in 1950 from then Southwestern State College and went on to receive his Masters in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1958.

Prock taught and coached football in Lone Wolf, Erick, and Hollis. In 1957, he moved to Weatherford where he was an assistant football coach.

In 1962, he received another Masters from the University of Illinois and in 1969 he received his Doctorate from Oklahoma State University.

At Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Prock taught math for 37 years.

Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Weatherford under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Weatherford; one son, Jim Prock and his wife, Julie, of Oklahoma City; one daughter, Frances Lawrence of Weatherford; one sister, JoAnn Henry of Saginaw, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents were three brothers, Loil, Thomas, and Bill; two sisters, Dorothy Faye and Ruth; and one grandson in infancy.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in Weatherford.

Rites slated for Gillihan at 2:49 pm
Funeral services for Evelyn Lela Gillihan, age 82 of Cordell, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Jack Loftiss Funeral Home Chapel at Cordell with Rev. Doyle Roark officiating.

Gillihan died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at her home. She was born on Aug. 1, 1924 in Cordell, the daughter of Oscar and Lela (Harden) Franklin.

She was a homemaker.

Interment will be in the Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence Gillihan, and his wife, Teresa, of Cordell; two grandchildren, Janet Jackson of Fort Collins, Colo., Chuck Priebe of Dill City; four great grandchildren, John Wayne Jackson and Jessie M. Jackson, both of Fort Collins, Colo. Abbygail J. Priebe and Tucker R. Priebe, both of Clinton; and a sister, Lois J. Dodgion of Tecumseh.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, were three brothers, George, J.D., Tilman; and a sister, Edith.

Katie Travis services set at 2:48 pm
Funeral services for Katie R. Travis, age 85 of Custer City, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Custer City First United Methodist Church with minister Doyle Kinney officiating.
Katie Ruth (Brice) Travis died early Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at the Corn Heritage Village in Corn. She was born on Aug. 15, 1921 in Maypearl, Texas, the daughter of Stephen and Pearl (Davidson) Brice.

Reared in Vinson, she graduated from high school there and continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford where she received both her BS and Master’s degrees in education.

She married Leonard E. Travis on June 29, 1941 in Mangum, and they made their home in Mangum for a short time before moving to Los Angeles, Calif. where they lived until 1945.

The couple returned to Oklahoma and settled on the family farm near Custer City.

Travis continued her teaching career, teaching business, art and home economics at Corn Bible Academy, Custer City and Clinton.

She retired from teaching in 1980.

She and her husband had spent 14 winters in Mesa, Ariz.

Preceding her in death, along with her husband; were two brothers, Bill Brice and Laddie Brice.

Burial will conclude in the Mound Valley Cemetery at Thomas under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include a daughter, Kaye Richardson and her husband, Don, of Custer City; two sons, Mike Travis and his wife, Connie, and Bob Travis and his wife, Karen, all of Custer City; six grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Travis, Jennifer Dunford, Robin Munger, Emily Johnson, Amber Richardson; and 11 great grandchildren.

The family has suggested that memorial contributions in Katie’s honor may be given to the Custer City United Methodist Church.

Ford Langley services set at 2:47 pm
Funeral services for Nina Lucile Ford-Langley, age 88 of Arapaho, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Earl Stephenson officiating.
Langley died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at the Corn Heritage Village Nursing Center in Weatherford. She was born on Oct. 19, 1918 in Beebe, Ark., the daughter of Richard Raymond and Nina Alma (Ealey) Chapman.

Coming to Oklahoma at an early age with her family, they settled in Arapaho, and she attended school there, graduating from Arapaho High School in 1937.

She worked at the Arapaho Drug Store and the Arapaho Bee newspaper. In later years, she worked at the Arapaho Dairy Boy.

She married Carl Glendon Ford on Oct. 13, 1940 in Cordell, and he preceded her in death in November of 1963.

She married W.W. Langley in 1966 in Wheeler, Texas, and they both worked in Oklahoma City in a child daycare center for several years.

However, they both continued to live in Arapaho where they raised horses and occasionally raced them.

Langley preceded her in death in 2001, and she had been a resident of the nursing home in Weatherford for the past six years.

She was a member of the Arapaho Methodist Church.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Ford, who died one month ago; and a sister, Nora Lue Nonast.

Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Ron Ford, and his wife, Paula, of Arapaho; a daughter-in-law, Georgie Ford of Weatherford; a sister, Irene Chapman of Cordell; two brothers, Raymond Chapman and his wife, Helen, of Lawton, Elvin Chapman of Greenbriar, Ark.; two grandchildren, Kirk Ford of Arapaho, Clint Ford of Mutual; four great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Katie, Kinley, Abbigail; two stepdaughters, Jean Brown of Newalla, Helen Reimer of Asher; two stepsons, Cleidus Langley of West Virginia, DeWade Langley of Yukon; and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
