Anderson rites held at 5:58 pm
Chapel services for Ruby P. Anderson, age 84 of Clinton, were held this morning at the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Brother Jack Logan officiating.

Anderson died early Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Integris Clinton Regional Hospital. She was born on Nov. 2, 1922 in Vian, the daughter of William and Edna (See) Patterson.

Reared in Vian, she attended school there. She married Bill Anderson in Wichita, Kan., and he contracted tuberculosis in the early 1960s, prompting their move to Clinton where he spent time in the Tuberculosis Sanitarium.

She worked in various Clinton restaurants for several years.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Miller.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Swiderski of Springhill, Kan.; and three sons, Jim Miller of Wichita, Kan., Johnny Miller of Midwest City and James Miller of Georgia.

Stein rites Wednesday at 5:57 pm
Graveside services for Gaile D. Stein, age 86 of Clinton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Page Cemetery in Burns Flat.
Visitation has been set for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home at 541 S. 30th in Clinton.

Calmes rites held March 3 at 8:40 pm
Funeral services for Claudene Calmes, age 80 of Baton Rouge, La., were held March 3 in Baton Rouge.

Calmes died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007. She was born at Clinton on July 26, 1926, the daughter of Claude and Estelle Chandler.

A 1944 alumnae of Clinton High School, she was a member of the Clinton First Baptist Church.

She married John Paul Calmes at the home of her parents in Clinton on July 8, 1945.

They had lived in Baton Rouge since the early 1960’s.

Survivors include her husband, John Paul Calmes; four sons, John Paul, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, Jeff and his wife, Debbye, Jim and his wife, Bessie, all of Baton Rouge, La., Joel and his wife, Leigh, of McKinney, Texas; two daughters, Carol Rush and her husband, Jimmy, Christy Smith and her husband, Billwood, all of Baton Rouge, La.; 13 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Hidlebaugh services set at Friday March 16, 2007 at 8:30 pm
Funeral services for Clarence Hidlebaugh, age 86 of Elk City, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, in the chapel of the Lockstone Funeral Home in Weatherford with Terry Parvin officiating.
Hidlebaugh died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Oklahoma City. He was born on Sept. 19, 1920 in Weatherford, the son of Clyde and Viola (Blagg) Hidlebaugh.

Reared in the Weatherford, Lone Wolf and Putnam areas, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and, at the age of 18, was drafted into the Army at Los Angeles, Calif.

He did his training in Camp Roberson, Calif. and spent two years in Alaska as an Army engineer.

Hidlebaugh was released at Fort Levinworth, Kan. in 1946.

On Nov. 1, 1948, he married Roberta Wells in Vernon, Texas.

They later moved to California from 1948 to 1990 where he worked as a carpenter and was a member of union No. 499. He was a lifetime member of the Carpenter Union.

They lived for 42 years in California, 36 of it in the high desert.

Hidlebaugh retired in 1973 and returned to Oklahoma in 1990 when they moved to Elk City.

Burial will follow in Hydro Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta, of the Elk City home; two sons, Larry Minor of Elk City, Frank Hidlebaugh and his wife, Kathy, of Blanchard; four daughters, June Price and her husband, Noel, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Betty McClain and her husband, Dee, of Victorville, Calif., Sheri Hidlebaugh of Blanchard, Karie Burchetta and her husband, Ronny, of Blanchard; one brother, Ezra Hidlebaugh of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Brett and Eldon; and one sister, Ethel.

Margie Fox funeral set at Thursday March 15, 2007 at 8:06 pm
Funeral services for Custer County resident Margie Fox, age 82, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. Sandy Shepherd officiating.
Margie Collins Fox was born on June 12, 1924 to Rube and Lillian (Standfier) Collins in Fort Townson. She died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at the Thomas Nursing Center.

Reared in Butler, she attended school at Pie Flat Country School and finished her high school education at Butler High School where she graduated in 1942.

During World War II, she went to the London, Conn. Shipyards where she worked as a welder.

She married Holly Fox on June 14, 1949 in Deschuter County, Ore., and they moved back to Butler and farmed for several years. He preceded her in death in 1988.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Eva Collins and Lorena Fox, both of Butler.

Funeral set for Nichols at Thursday March 15, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Funeral services for Tammy Lynn Nichols, age 38 of Cordell, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Cordell with Rev. Doyle Roark officiating.
Nichols died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, in Cordell. She was born on June 13, 1968 in Cordell, the daughter of Richard Lowry and Patricia Bellah.

A member of the Assembly of God Church in Cordell, she worked as a nurse.

Burial will be in the Lawnview Cemetery at Cordell under the direction of the Loftiss-Lee Funeral Home of Cordell.

Survivors include her mother of Cordell; two daughters, Megan Lynn Gray and April Brooke Gray, both of Cordell; two sisters, Penny Nutton and Jonnetta Duffield, both of Cordell; her maternal grandmother, Joyce Lockwood; and her paternal grandmother, Judy Lowry.

Her father preceded her in death.

Shasta Hays services set at March 15, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Memorial services for Shasta Hays, age 23 of Elk City and formerly of Clarksville, Tenn., will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cumberland Heights Elementary School at Clarksville.
Inurnment ceremonies are set for Saturday, March 24, at the family farm in Carter, Okla.

Hays died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at Carter. She was born on July 22, 1983 in Nashville, Tenn. and moved to Aztec, N.M. in 1991, graduating high school in 2000.

She then moved to Chattanooga, Tenn. where she attended Barbizon Modeling School and graduated in 2001.

After residing at Clarksville until February of this year she moved to Elk City.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clinton.

Survivors include her mother, Sammie Visage and her husband, Conard, of Carter; her father, Rodney Glenn Hays of Kentucky; a brother, Clayton Hays of Carter; and her grandparents, Mae Carter, Glenn and Letha Hays.

Ketchum rites set at 4:21 pm
Funeral services for pastor Lanny Q. Ketchum, age 45 of Clinton, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Victory Missionary Baptist Church at 1121 Frisco Avenue in Clinton with Rev. Buck Nicholson and Brother Robert Brock officiating.

Lanny Quinn Ketchum was born April 29, 1961 in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Wayne and Sandra (Smith) Ketchum.

He died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, near Cheyenne as the result of a truck accident while driving in heavy fog.

Reared in Wichita Falls, he graduated from Rider High School in 1979.

He continued his education at Midwestern State University and Texas Tech, graduating from the Texas Baptist Institute in 2004 with a BA in Bible theology.

He worked for the Wichita Falls Fire Department for 15 years as a fire equipment operator.

He owned and operated a cattle ranch in Clay County, Texas before he was called into the ministry.

After his graduation from seminary, he took a church in Clinton and was serving as pastor of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church at the time of his death.

Besides ministering, he worked for Hamm & Phillips Service Company, an oil field related firm, driving a truck.

He married Cynthia Alane Boss on Jan. 28, 1989 in Wichita Falls, Texas. His father, Wayne, preceded him in death.

Burial will follow at 3 p.m. Friday at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Wellington, Texas under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia, a son, Keaton, and a daughter, Emily, all of the home; his mother and stepfather, Sandra and J.T. Whatley of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Twila Boydston of Wichita Falls, Texas, Melanie Bumstead of Henderson, Texas; and his mother-in-law, Annie Tucker of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in Lanny’s honor may be made to either the Victory Missionary Baptist Church or the Clinton High School Band Boosters.

Wagner services set at 5:26 pm
Memorial services for William Harvey “Bill” Wagner, age 58 of Baltic, S.D., formerly of Lincoln, Neb. and Clinton, Okla., were held this afternoon at the West Nidaros Lutheran Church in rural Crooks, S.D.

Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln, Neb.

William Harvey Wagner was born Feb. 2, 1949 in Lincoln, the son of Harvey George and Agnes Ann (Duchek) Wagner. He died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 10, 2007.

He grew up in Dorchester, Neb. where he graduated from high school.

Bill married Judy Baade Feb. 19, 1967 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Seward, Neb.

They lived in Seward and Lincoln before moving to Clinton, Okla. in 1984.

They moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. in 1997 and to the Baltic area in 1999. He was working for Sara Lee in Sioux Falls at the time of his death.

While living in Lincoln and Clinton he was on the church council and taught Sunday School in the ELCA.

Preceding him in death were his daughter, Hope Ann, and father, Harvey.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Baltic, S.D.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Baltic, S.D.; two sons, Anthony Paul Wagner and his wife, Tabitha, of Tecumseh, Neb., Benjamin Jon Wagner of Oklahoma; a daughter, Honey Lynn Welch and her husband, Scot, of Owasso, Okla.; grandchildren, Ashlee Ann and Brandon William with another on the way; his mother, Agnes Ann Wagner of Crete, Neb.; his mother-in-law, Fern Baade, Lincoln, Neb.; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed Baade and his wife, Jan, of Lincoln, Neb., Jim Baade and his wife, Alice, of Bloomington, Ill., Sheri Cheek and her husband, Carl, Auburn, Wash. and Fred Baade, Andale, Kan.

Marion Cocanougher services set at 3:56 pm
Funeral services for longtime Clinton businessman Marion Cocanougher, age 80, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Meacham Memorial Chapel at the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Melvin Dunn officiating.

Cocanougher died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born on Feb. 9, 1927 at Hobart, the son of Roy and Hattie (Eberhart) Cocanougher.

Reared in Rocky, he received his schooling there, moving to Clinton and working at the Acme Brick Company until 1951 when he was drafted by the U.S. Army.

After his honorary discharge in 1953, he returned to Clinton and worked at Acme Brick.

In 1966 he opened Clinton Monument Company and also drove an ambulance for Sinor’s Emergency Medical Service for six years.

He married Betty Williams on Oct. 19, 1974 in Clinton. They had operated the monument business together until the present.

His parents preceded him in death. Cocanougher was a member of the Oakwood Assembly of God Church.

Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Ervin burial set Monday at 10:54 am
Graveside services for Dalton Ethridge Ervin, 46, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Clinton Cemetery.

Ervin died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at his Clinton home.

He was born here Sept. 4, 1960, to Claude and Annie (Landers) Ervin. Growing up in Clinton, he attended the local schools and later worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include one son, Tim, of the home; four sisters, Geneva King of Thomas, Shelia Speice, Wichita Falls, Texas, Claudena Doughty, Geary, and Polly McClung, Clinton; two brothers, Denver Ervin and Jody Ervin, both of Clinton; and two grandchildren.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Theresa and Laveda; and one brother, Dalton Bailey.

Pat Peters will officiate at the service, which will be under direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home.

McGoffin mass set Monday at 10:54 am
A mass of Christian burial for Pete A. McGoffin, age 46 and former Arapaho resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2007, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton with Father Rex Arnold officiating.
He died March 8, 2007, in the Integris Clinton Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Pete Andrew McGoffin was born Dec. 10, 1960, in Thomas the son of Frank and Genevieve (Klein) McGoffin.

He was raised in Arapaho and graduated from Arapaho High School in 1979. He also attended Western Oklahoma Technology Welding School. He worked in the oil field and in the early 1990s moved to Houston, Texas, to work for York Industries.

He suffered a major heart attack and moved back to Clinton and was a resident of the Grace Living Center for the past 14 years.

He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Burial will follow the services in the Anthon Cemetery under the direction of the Kiseau-Lee Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2007, in the Kiseau Memorial Chapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph and a sister, Jennifer.

He is survived by three sisters, Debra Daggs of Arapaho, Shirley McGoffin of Arapaho and Angie Persyn of Kansas; four brothers, Dennis McGoffin, Steve McGoffin and Kevin McGoffin, all of Arapaho and Gilbert McGoffin of Elk City; and several nieces and nephews.
