KENT GORDON ALWERT
A funeral service for Kent Gordon Alwert, age 65, of Fairmont, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, at the Zion Luth-eran Church in Fairmont, with Rev. Timothy Dorsch officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Fairmont, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
He was born to Delbert Arlien and Sylvia Marie (Helberg) Alwert on March 4, 1941, in Enid, and died on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at his home in Fairmont.
He attended schools in Fairmont and Garber, graduating from Garber High School. He served in the United States Navy. On Aug. 28, 1964, he married Hazel Marie Roark in Enid, and they made their home in Fairmont. He worked for Pope Distributing Company for 40 years, where he was a sales manager. He was the founder and historian for the Buck and Bow Club, and a member of the American Legion. Kent was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and served on the stewardship committee.
He is survived by his wife Hazel, of the home; son, Tony Arlien Alwert and wife Lisa of Fairmont; daughter, Shawn Marie Freie and husband Brad of Cyril; five grandchildren, Garrett, Bailey and Braden Alwert, and Kohl Murray and Tucker Freie; one brother, Robert Alwert of Enid; and one sister, Mooneene Blazer of Enid.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Sylvia Alwert, and brother, Don Alwert.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zion Lutheran Church, Hospice Circle of Love or Relay for Life.

GARY LYNN MEISTER
Gary Lynn Meister, 61, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in McCune-Brooks Hospital after a sudden illness. Gary was born April 11, 1945, in Hartner, KS to Alexander “Dude” Meister and Thadean (Henwood) Meister.
Gary was a graduate of Hel-ena High School, Hel-ena, OK, attended the First Church of the Naza-rene, Car-thage; was a member of the International Truck Collectors Association and the “Wrinkled Roosters” Coffee Club.
He married Betty Harmon on May 6, 1970, in Miami,OK.
Survivors include his wife Betty, of the home; six children, Diana Berry, Bentonville, AR, Paula Brantley and husband Scott, Hot Springs, AR, Harry Meister and wife Dana, Oklahoma City, OK, Brian Meister, Oklahoma City, OK, Shannon Meister, Simonton, TX, Shawn Meister and wife Ashley, Carthage, MO; four brothers, Ed Meister, Grove, OK, Bob Meister and wife Sharon, Odessa, TX, Mark Meister and wife Carol, State of Oklahoma and Roger Meister, State of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Alexander, Harry, Bill and Jim Meister.
Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at the First Church of the Nazarene, Carthage. Burial will be in Emmanuel Cemetery, southeast of Carthage, MO.
Memorial gifts are suggested to the “Wrinkled Roosters” Benevolence Fund in care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO.

TOM D. MCDONALD
The funeral for Tom D. McDonald, 72, of Woodward, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at New Hori-zon United Methodist Church. The Revs. Scott Heusel and Ray Blakley will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Ar-rangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
He was born April 4, 1934, north of Mooreland, to Clifford and Lela Annis McDonald and died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Enid.
When he was 4, the family moved to Willard, where they lived until moving east of Woodward.
He attended Boggy school, starting at Woodward Public Schools his freshman year.
He worked at Trego’s Westwear until enlisting in the armed services after high school.
After he returned from Korea he went back to Trego’s.
He married Lois Clayton in 1964. They made their home in Woodward and then moved to the family farm near Cedardale.
He began working at F&W Shoe Store, which he and his wife purchased and operated for many years.
After retiring from the shoe store, he became part of the management team at C.R. Anthony and Stage Depart-ment Stores in Woodward for 15 years.
Later he went to Sharpes Department Store and then Ken’s Habadashary.
He was active in Wood-ward Community Theater and was president of Okla-homa Community Theater Association.
Surviving are his wife, Lois of the home; one son, Jamie McDonald; a foster son, Jered Tapp; a sister, Moeta Newman; and a brother, Cash McDonald.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, heart research.

FLORENCE PAULINE DUKE WEIR
A graveside service for Florence Pauline Duke Weir, 90, will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Brumfield Cemetery, Seiling. Pat Dougherty, pastor, will officiate. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home Inc., Seiling.
She was born Feb. 29, 1916, near Seiling, to Robert Harrison “Harry” and Martha Jane Campbell Duke and died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, in Chicago.
She was raised in Seiling and Woodward.
She married Wilbur Wil-ford Weir Feb. 5, 1935, in Bentonville, Ark.
She later moved to Chicago.
She worked as a tailor in the clothing and textile industry for many years until retiring.
Surviving are two sons, George Weir of Chicago and Ed Weir of Mineral Wells, Texas; a half-brother, Fred Lee “Jake” Fitch of McPher-son, Kan.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

BETTY ANN BIGGS
A rosary service for Betty Ann Biggs, 71, of Hitchcock, will be 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Watonga. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Denis Hanrahan will officiate. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery, Hitchcock. Arrangements are by Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga.
She was born Dec. 22, 1934, near Okeene, to Henry and Edna Weber Oberst and died Wednes-day, Nov. 8, 2006.
She married Levern Biggs Dec. 9, 1953, in Okeene.
She was a resident of Hitch-cock since 1953. She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Okeene, and attended Benedic-tion Catholic College, Guthrie. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hitch-cock.
Surviving are her husband, Levern of the home; four sons, Dennis Anthony Biggs of Dover, Danny Lee Biggs of Mustang, Donald Raymond Biggs of Fairview and John Edward Biggs of Hitchcock; three daughters, Diane Marie Yost of Kingfisher, Debbie Sue Kupka of Elk City and Beverly Kay Brown of Canton; two sisters; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hitchcock Fire Department.

ESTHER KOCH
The funeral for Esther Koch, 86, of Shattuck, will be 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Shattuck. Burial will be in Shattuck Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Good Samaritan Funeral Service, Shattuck.
She was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Follett, Texas, to George and Katherine Dick Kraft and died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in Shattuck.
She grew up in the Follett area and attended Follett school.
She married Deabold Koch July 8, 1940, in Woodward. They established their home on a farm southwest of town. She worked at Shattuck Hospital and the senior citizens center. She was a member of St. John’s Congre-gational Church, Follett, and Christ Lutheran Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Osmus of Oklahoma City; one son, Jim Koch of Weston, Colo.; one brother, Fred Kraft of Slapout; 6 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee; two brothers; and two sisters.

‘BUD’ GILBERT L. HUSTED
The funeral for “Bud” Gilbert L. Husted, 61, of Laverne, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church of Laverne. The Revs. Nancy Adler and Diana Northcutt will officiate. Burial will be in Gate Cemetery, Gate. Arrangements are by Myatt-Seeger Funeral Home of Laverne. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1945, in Shattuck, to Merle B. and Jeraldine Caldwell Husted and died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006.
He attended school in Knowles and graduated from Gate High School in 1963.
He married Cinda Lorraine Allen June 29, 1968, in Gate.
He was former owner of General Inc. Oilfield Service, owner of M&G Trucking and a farmer and rancher. He was a member of United Methodist Church, lifetime FFA member and a member of Oklahoma Cushman Club, National Cush-man Club and the University of Oklahoma Sooner Club.
Surviving are his wife, Cinda of Laverne; one son, Chance Lee Husted of Laverne; one daughter, Shawna Danee Kendall of Farmington, N.M.; one brother, Bill Husted of Laverne; three sisters, Karen Richardson of Gate, Ellen Stahlman of Wilburton and Lisa O’Hair of Laverne; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter.

JOHNEL NEWTON
The funeral for Johnel Newton, 77, of Enid, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Edmond Rollins will officiate. Burial will be in Enid Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Russworm Funeral Home of Enid.
She was born Sept. 25, 1929, in Eudora, Ark., to John and Alice Smith and died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in Oklahoma City.
She moved to Enid at an early age and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School.
She married Henry Newton Jr. Feb. 2, 1952.
She completed registered nursing studies at Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa, in 1978.
She worked for more than 20 years at Enid State School. After retiring, she worked at Meadowlake Hospital. She was a site manager with Wheatheart Nutrition Project.
She was a member of Grayson Missionary Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to St. Stephen African Methodist Church.
She was local president, area chairwoman and life member of Oklahoma Confer-ence Women’s Missionary Society. She was a member of Northern Light Chapter No. 59 Order of Eastern Star, Amos T. Hall No. 22 Heriones of Jericho, Johnel Newton Guild No. 16, Democratic Women’s Club and Inter Racial Women’s Club.
Surviving are one son, Gregory Newton of Denver; one daughter, Janet Newton of Edmond; two sisters, Lee Ethel Carr of Enid and Lela Mae McGill of Clinton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, one son, one granddaughter and 11 siblings.
