HELEN L. CHITWOOD
The funeral for Helen L. Chitwood, 84, of Perry, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Perry. The Rev. Ed Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry.
She was born March 17, 1921, in Cushing to Basil and Delpha Whitt Vannostran and died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at her home.
She graduated from Cushing High School and married George Chitwood Aug. 14, 1937, in Chandler. They moved to Perry 1958 and purchased Perry Printing and Office Supply. They retired in 1981. He died in 1995.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Perry Golf and Country Club. She also was a volunteer at Operation Blessing.
Surviving are two daughters, Judie Chitwood of Oklahoma City and Corky Mayes of Edmond; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

BILLY WAYNE WHITTET
The funeral for Billy Wayne Whittet, 81, of Dacoma, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Church of God, Dacoma. The Revs. Earl Met-calf and Connie Kinnard will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery, north of Dacoma. Arrange-ments are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva. Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Dacoma to John William and Violet Newman Whittet and died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Cherokee Manor, Cherokee.
He graduated from Dacoma High School and attended Tonkawa College at Tonkawa.
He was a member of the armed forces, serving during World War II where he fought battles in New Guinea, the Phillippines and Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
He married Floy Lorraine Jenlink Feb. 27, 1947, in Cherokee. They made their home in Dacoma. They owned and operated Whittet’s Country Store and Cowboy Grill in Dacoma for 45 years.
Surviving are his wife, Floy, of Dacoma; one son, Doug Whittet of Cherokee; one daughter, Debbie Carson of Dacoma; a sister, Jeanie Leamon of Dacoma; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and a sister.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love.

BILL HUBBARD
Bill Hubbard was born June 16, 1927, in Kingfisher, Okla., the son of Harold and Ruth Hubbard and died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005, at Mercy Hospital, Oklahoma City.
He worked at the local newspaper during his high school days, then attended A&M College at Stillwater. He purchased the Carmen Headlight Newspaper in Alfalfa County and operated it for 10 years, also publishing the Helena Star newspaper the latter part of that period.
While there, he met and married Doris Mae Pennington in 1957. To that union were born a daughter, Debbie, and a son, Bill Brian.
He worked at a number of other newspapers and also attended the university at Weatherford. Then he and Doris purchased Times Printing Company in Kingfisher. They consolidated it with Kingfisher Office Supply in 1963 to form Central Supply and operated that business until 1993. He had been employed there since.
Bill joined the Federated Church in Kingfisher as a youth. His civic activities here have included C of C board member, Rotary Club secretary, County Red Cross director, County Poultry Association leader, etc.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Doris, and daughter, Debbie, of the home; a son, Bill Brian and his wife Karen of St. Louis, Mo.; and by Jim and Mary McCormick and children, Anna, Luke and Nora Grace, of Detroit, Mich.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at the Federated Church with pastor Charles Smith officiating. Internment will follow in the Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Service. (Paid Obit 12-24-1)

PHILLIP D. RUST
The funeral for Phillip D. Rust, 57, of Winfield, Kan., formerly of Capron, will be 1 p.m. today at Capron United Methodist Church, Capron. The Rev. Elizabeth Kirkwood will officiate. Burial will be in Capron Cemetery. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miles Funeral Service, Winfield. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
He was born Nov. 27, 1948, in Enid to W.D. and Lois Toner Rust and died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at William Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield.
He graduated from Capron High School in 1966 and from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, in 1971. He received a bachelor’s degree in social science/education with additional certification as a licensed social worker.
He served in the Army from 1971 to 1973 as a military policeman. After his discharge, he worked in Hardtner, Kan., at Achenbach Institution as a social worker, then at Larned State Hospital and Winfield State Hospital until it closed in 1985.
He worked at Greenbush Southeast Kansas Educational Service Center as program director for infant toddler sites for Greenbush and was on-site director at REACH, Winfield.
He served on Winfield Arts and Humanities board of directors and was president of the board in 2003-04. He was on the advisory board for School of Social Work at Southwestern College.
He was a member of Winfield Convention and Tourism Committee. He taught Victorian history at the Institute of Lifetime Learning through Cowley College.
He was a member of Social Workers Association of Cowley County, Parents-As-Teachers Advisory Committee, Cowley County Interagency Coalition, Kansas State Interagency Coordinating Council Advocacy Committee and Advisory Council for Cowley County Head Start.
He also was a member of the tiny-k Foundation, past regional coordinator for Kansas PLAN for Deaf/Blind and a member of Capron United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his mother, Lois Rust of Alva, and one sister, Jana Schnebel of Enid.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorials may be made to REACH tiny-k Toddler Services or Capron United Methodist Church.

BOBBY J. SANDEFUR
A graveside service for Bobby J. Sandefur, 76, of Enid will be 11 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Carrell Still will officiate. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Ponca City to Roger and Alice S. Nave Adair and died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, Enid.
She married Murry W. Sandefur Sept. 27, 1955, in Enid. They moved to Enid in 1970.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and later attended Willow Road Christian Church.
Surviving are one son, Roger W. Sandefur of Florissant, Colo.; one sister, Regina C. Lessert of Ponca City; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murry.

NORA LEE BAYLIFF CURTIS
The funeral for Nora Lee Curtis, 92, of Cherokee will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Cherokee First United Methodist Church. The Revs. Jim and Gail Edmison will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee.
She was born April 8, 1913, in Cherokee to Henry Alison and Lydia Cook Bayliff and died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Cherokee Manor.
She graduated from Lambert High School in 1931.
She married Matthew Clarence Curtis Sept. 24, 1931, in Enid. They made their home southwest of Cherokee. He preceded her in death.
She was born a birthright Quaker and taught Sunday school at Cherokee Friends Church. She and her sister led a popular family music ensemble, performing at numerous church and social functions. She was a member of the Cro-tat-em Club and Alfalfa Progressive Club and served as an Avon representative.
Surviving are her daughter, Jeanne Pelter; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Matt, she was preceded in death by one son, five brothers and six sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Cherokee First United Methodist Church and Prairie Valley Methodist Church.

LURA EMALINE GAMBILL MILLER
The funeral for Lura Emaline Gambill Miller, 75, of Oklahoma City, will be 2 p.m. Friday at New Covenant Christian Church. Arrange-ments are by Guardian West Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
She was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Perry to Lonnie Tivis and Ada Vey Stong Gambill and died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005.
She married Jerry Lee Miller Jan. 6, 1947.
She was secretary and janitor of Perry First Christian Church and secretary at Hunter schools and she also worked at Ditch Witch and as a waitress.
She completed her GED, then began college at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1979. She attended law school at the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1982. She worked with Oklahoma County District Attorneys Office as assistant district attorney from 1982 until she retired in 2001. She was allowed to retain her ADA badge.
She was a member of Oklahoma Bar Association, American Bar Association, Phi Alpha Delta and New Covenant Christian Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Sharron Ann Miller of Los Angeles, Carolyn Rae Miller McLemore of Enid and Judith Lee Miller Miracle and Gail Kathleen Miller Kitchen both of Oklahoma City; one son, Lance Richard Miller of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Lester Gambill of Sharon and Marvin Gambill of Deerpark, Texas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.

THEO VERA COFER-SLOAN
A graveside service for Theo Vera Cofer-Sloan, 94, of Lyons, Kan., formerly of Seiling, will be 11 a.m. Friday in Brumfield Cemetery, Seiling. The Rev. Cindy Watson will officiate. Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.
She was born April 5, 1911, in Seiling to William Thomas and Sarah Sigman Saylor and died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, in Hutchinson, Kan.
She was raised and educated in Seiling. She married Paul Cofer in 1935. He died in 1949.
She moved to Oklahoma City and worked in several retail stores, including JC Penney, before earning her cosmetology degree. She was a beautician for over 18 years.
She married John Sloan in 1984. He died in 1985. She lived in Oklahoma City until October 2004, when she moved to Lyons.
She attended Lyons United Methodist Church and Bon Ami Sunday school class.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides both husbands, William and John, she was preceded in death by two sisters, and four brothers.
