R.J. SEVERIN
Mass of Christian Burial for R.J. Severin, a 71-year-old Goltry resident, will be 10 a.m. today, Dec. 18, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Goltry, with Father Larry Kowalski presiding. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.
R.J. Severin passed away on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. R.J. was born Aug. 21, 1936, at his parents’ home southeast of Goltry. He was the son of Julius Severin and Rose Simunek Severin. He started his schooling south of Goltry at the District 103, then attended Goltry High School. He entered the service in 1957 and was discharged in 1963. He served most of his service time in Germany with the Army.
He married Katherine Williams May 14, 1960, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Enid, Oklahoma. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Goltry. He filled many positions in the church. He served on the board of director for the Goltry Farmer’s Cooperative Exchange. He owned an Oklahoma Centennial Farm in the Goltry area.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Katherine Severin; one daughter, Charolette Buller and her husband Jon Buller of Ringwood; and one son, Ronnie of Goltry. Three grandchildren, Lukas Buller of Stillwater, Leah Buller of Edmond, and Emily Buller of Ringwood. He also is survived by one brother, Cecil Severin of Goltry and one sister, Julie Trojan of Perry.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Bertha Preston of Enid, and one brother, Alfred Severin.
Memorials may be made to the cancer fund or to St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Henninger-Allen Funeral Home acting as custodian of the funds.

DELLA RUTH BARNES CROUSE
The funeral service for Della Ruth Barnes Crouse, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jacob Snodgrass of Ames Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Della was born the daughter of Samuel Wesley and Ila M. Murphy Barnes in Corvallis, Oregon on April 4, 1914.
She began school in Hillsdale, Oklahoma, before moving to Enid and then to Phoenix, Arizona, for four years, attending school, and then returning to Enid.
Della married Clarence Charles Menz in 1931, who passed away 27 years later in 1958. She married Herbert L. Crouse from Hillsdale, Oklahoma. Although the couple resided in Enid, they spent many winters as snowbirds in Arizona or traveling. Herbert Crouse passed away in 1998.
Della Crouse is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Turner and by her son, Charles Menz; by grandchildren, Virginia Thomas, Eugene and Brian Turner; by great-grandchildren, Abby Crews and Andrew Turner and Jamie and Matt Thomas, and by four great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.

FRANK A. RUST SR.
The funeral for Frank Andrew Rust Sr., 81, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Tolle officiating. Burial will be in Ware Cemetery, near Jet. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born to Oscar Alva and Sadie Ellen (Ward) Rust on Feb. 8, 1926, in Byron, OK and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at his home in Enid.
Frank grew up in the Salt Plains Area. He served in the U.S. Army where he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and the 508th Infantry.
On Oct. 3, 1947, he married Maxine “Charlie” Stanley in Chesterfield, S.C. They lived in Baltimore and Oklahoma and then moved to California in 1951. There he sold poultry to movie stars including Rex Harrison and Shirley Temple. After that he worked as a centerless grinder for post grinding. In 1973, they moved back to Oklahoma. Frank got a job building oval-shaped barns for a couple of months. He then worked at Adams Alloy in Wakita until his retirement in 1990.
Frank enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He liked playing checkers and teaching others how to play with either hand. Frank was a member of Enid Masonic Lodge 80, the 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of Guthrie, Tulsa Akdar Shrine, the Northwest Oklahoma Funsters, and the Enid Moose Lodge.
He is survived by five children, Frank Rust II of Blythe, CA, Mike Rust and wife Jackie of Longbeach, CA, Keith Rust and wife Mary of Baldwin Park, CA, Steve Rust and wife Carol of Enid, and Kathy Duerden and husband Darryl of Enid; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, and three sisters, Agnes Hart, Martha Rust and Leota Thomas.

HAROLD MAX CUMPSTON
Funeral services for Harold Max Cumpston, age 79, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Shelia Francis Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
He was born September 24, 1928, in Enid, to Orin and Evelyn Beery Cumpston and passed away Saturday, December 15, 2007.
He lived in Enid, attended and graduated from Enid High School in 1946. He attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1951 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Leila Walker August 27, 1950. Six weeks after he graduated from college, he was called into U.S. Army and commissioned as 1st Lieutenant at Fort Leavengood. He was assigned to the 65th Engineering Combat Battalion in Korea in May 1952. Max served a year as an engineer platoon combat leader, where he built supply roads, gun emplacements, and mind field clearings. He returned to the United States in 1953. He went to work for George E. Failing as a design engineer. In September 1960, he was hired by Serv-Air as the director of Civil Engineering at Vance Air Force Base. When Northrop assumed the contract in 1972, he became Manager of Operation assuming overall operation of the base contract for several years. Max received his law degree from OCU in the Spring of 1974. Northrop then wanted him to use his legal knowledge in negotiating contracts both here and abroad. He was transferred to corporate office in Lawton, in 1976. During his assignment with the corporate office he made frequent trips to Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, where he helped establish a working relationship with several mid eastern companies. They engaged him to put together a proposal for the expansion of the Royal Saudi Navy. The proposal effort was successful and consortium of the Saudi Arabian Development Company and Sheik Fahd Shobokshi was developed. He operated an 800 million dollar contact over five years at the principal ports in Saudi Arabia. Upon returning to the United States on a full time basis he became manager of Vance Air Force Base Environmental Branch and along with a very qualified staff built the finest environmental branch in the Air Force. He retired in January 2001.
He is survived by his children, Chuck Cumpston and his wife Gloria; Amy Cumpston, and Wally Cumpston and his wife Vicki, three grandchildren, Eddie, Kaleigh, and Maddi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son, Max.
Memorials may be made to the New Hope United Methodist Church or Ross Hospice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians.

TOMMY JOE CROPPER
The funeral for Tommy Joe Cropper, 6 months, will be 2 p.m. today in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Dan O’Daniel, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Del Norte Cemetery, Drum-mond.
He was born June 5, 2007, in Enid to Gene and Blair Morgan Cropper and died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in Oklahoma City.
Surviving are his parents, Gene and Blair Cropper, of the home; one brother, Bobby Joe Jay Cropper, of the home; grandparents, Bernard Cropper, Jerry and Dianne Tretbar, Donney and Ann Boyd and Russell Morgan; and great-grandparents, Marjorie Stonehokker, Alma Napp, Bernard Cropper Sr., and John and Phylis Morgan.

JAMES ‘JIM’ EDWARD FANNING
The funeral for James “Jim” Edward Fanning, 80, of Alva, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Jim Edmison and Bob Brown, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Cherokee. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and after the service at the church.
He was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Los Angeles to James J. and Mary Catherine Edwards Fanning and died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, in Alva.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a classroom teacher, farmer and cattleman. He married Gussie J. Berry in Alva. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Cherokee; Lions Club; Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 307; and Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are his wife, Gussie, of Alva; five children, Kelly Hellar, Jay Fanning, Janet Wanger, Bonita Stewart and Debbie Coon; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Fanning.

BOB THURMAN
The funeral for Bob Thurman, 69, of Kiowa, Kan., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Congregational United Church of Christ. Keela Neumann, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa.
He was born June 7, 1938, in Alva, to Ray and Berniece Thurman, and died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007.
He was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Bea, of Kiowa; two sons, Greg Thurman and Brock Thurman, both of Kiowa; one daughter, Kami Myrick of Leawood, Kan.; one sister, Clyda Roark of Kiowa; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.

FREDERICK WILLIAM McKOOL
A family memorial service for Frederick William McKool, 66, of Enid will be at a later date.
He was born Feb. 3, 1941, in Pittsburgh to Fred and Elizabeth M. Steedle McKool and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at his home.
He graduated from Vanderbilt University. He earned his master’s degree in chemical engineering at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He came to Oklahoma to work at Conoco in Ponca City and later moved to Enid, where he retired.
Surviving are his mother, Elizabeth McKool of Pittsburgh; three sisters, Dorothy J. Hazen of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Carol Marlin of Pittsburgh and Kathleen McKool of Boston; and one brother, William J. McKool of Flemington, N.J.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Public Library of Enid and Garfield County.
