Amanda Irene West
Services for Amanda Irene West, 72, were held Wednesday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment was at the Dougherty Cemetery, under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Mrs. West was born Sunday, January 27, 1929 in Dougherty to Charles Saunders, Sr. and Ettner Mae Duncan Saunders. She died Saturday, July 28, in Dougherty. On October 18, 1947, she married Raymond B. West at Lordsburg, N.M. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2000. Mrs. West grew up in Dougherty. She lived in Morenci, Arizona from 1947 until their retirement in 1980. The couple moved back to Dougherty at that time. Mrs. West is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Charles Humphrey, Pima Ariz., daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Hanson, Tucson, Ariz; son, Donald West, Dougherty, son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Mary Ann West, Tucson, Ariz.; five brothers, Otis "Bo" Saunders, Davis, Charles "Creed" Saunders, Jr., Sulphur, Harvey Lee Saunders, Sulphur, John Saunders, Dougherty, Orval Saunders, Sulphur; seven sisters, Mildred Allen, Sulphur, Mary White, Canyon, Ariz, Patsy Garland, Sulphur, Jeanie Clelland, Dougherty, Lona Edwards, Dougherty, Betty Wilson, Norman, Linda Trett, Wynnewood; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Queena Janelle Coyle. Pallbearers were, Bill Edwards, Douglas Akers, Noel West, Joel Mann, Jimmy Dale Saunders, Bob Garland.

Carl William (Lefty) Ham
Services for Carl William (Lefty) Ham, 75, Guthrie, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July, 31 at Davis Funeral Chapel in Guthrie with Rev. Herb Ham officiating. Interment was at the Seward Cemetery, Guthrie under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Ham was born January 13, 1926 in Guthrie to Roy and Flora (Wyatt) Ham and died Friday, July 27, at Colonial Estates Nursing Home, Guthrie. On January 13, 1944, he married Marjorie Bowen. She preceded him in death on May 23, 1998. Mr. Ham lived in this area all of his life. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 45th Infantary Division in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion LaBron Post #56, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Guthrie Masonic Lodge, and was volunteer for the National Park Service where he served as camp host at the campgrounds in Sulphur. Mr. Ham is survived by one son, Carl William Ham, II and his wife, Carol, Guthrie; three daughters, Jeanette Lynn, Noble, Joyce McLendon, Del City, and Delcy Burford and her husband, Michael, Guthrie; three brothers, Herbert Ham and his wife, Vera, Guthrie, John Ham and his wife, Nonie, Edmond, and Charles Ham Seward; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Ham was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Ham and two nephews.

Robert Olen Bishop
Services for Robert Olen Bishop, 58, Ponca City, were held Friday, Feb. 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Ramsey officiating. Interment was at the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Mr. Bishop was born on May 1, 1943 in Laguna Beach, Calf. to William and Ruby Bishop. He died February 11 in the Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medial Center. He is a former resident of Sulphur. On January 18, 1980 he married Ruth Capshaw in Ponca City Mr. Bishop served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1968, serving in Vietnam on the USS Tortuga LSD26 as a BT3. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Mr. Bishop owned R & W Construction and was an active member of First Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Capshaw Bishop, of the home; three stepsons, Richard A. Capshaw, Dallas, Texas, James A. Smith, Ponca City and Steven R. Smith, Independence, Kansas; one stepdaughter, Margie Malloy, Columbus, Ga.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Patsy Barnes, Roff and Debbie Carter, Ponca City. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and a sister, Joanne Bishop. Pallbearers were Wes Locke, Dick Hollis, Robert Craig, Gregg Leonetti, Steve Geake and Les Burke. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Capshaw, Dale Randall, Ron Blackwell, Darrel Rupe, Max Hopkins and Bill Palmer

Almus T. Dickenson
Services for Almus T. Dickenson, 82, Davis, were held Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment was at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis. Mr. Dickenson was born on September 3, 1919 in Carter County to Frank Paul Dickenson and Christine Smith Dickenson. He died February 17 in Sulphur. On June 15, 1942 he married Ruby Janiece Veach in Katte, Okla. Mr. Dickenson worked as a farmer. He is survived by four daughters, Linda Walters, Sulphur, Vicki Connell and Jeanie Noble, both of Fort Worth,Cheryl McMinn, Alberquerque, N.M.; two sons, Earl Dickenson, Davis and John Dickenson, Fort Worth; five sisters, Ruby Walston, Lawton, Grace Murrin, Clay Center, Kan., Joanne Gardner, Springfield, Ore., Lorraine Brown, Bakersfield, Calf. and Joyce Jackson, Fort Worth; one brother, Raymond Dickenson, Colts Neck, N.J.; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons and one brother, one sister and one grandchild.

Betty Jane Fowler
Services for Betty Jane Fowler, 60, were held Monday, Sept. 30 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eddie Malphrus and Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born on Thursday, Oct. 9, 1941 in Finney Switch, Texas to Fred Freeman and Fern A. Ivey Freeman. She died Wednesday, Sept. 25 in Tulsa. On February 27, 1965 she married Wendel Fowler in Sulphur. She lived in this area most of her life. She attended school at Asher and moved to Sulphur in 1958 where she graduated from Sulphur High School. She was the secretary at Sulphur Intermediate School. She is survived by her husband, Wendel Fowler, Sulphur; one daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Tim Drummond, Pawhuska; one son and daugher-in-law, Brooks and Shellie Fowler, Chicago, Illinois; her father, Fred Freeman, Sulphur; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Jo Freeman and Jim and Diane Freeman, all of Sulphur; three grandchildren, Caleb and Halle Drummond and Ivey Jane Fowler. She was preceded in death by her mother, Fern Freeman. Pallbearers were Scott Freeman, Andy Freeman, Cale Freeman, Layne Brewer, Steve Brewer, Clay Brewer, Coley Brewer and Bear Runyan.

Alice Marie Lowrance
Services for Alice Marie Lowrance, 93, were held Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Rev. Emery Mason officiating. Interment was at the Lowrance Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born on Friday, June 25, 1909 in Gate to John Balley and Addle Bates Balley. She died Friday, Sept. 27 in Sulphur. On April 21, 1934 she married W. B. Lowrance in Liberal, Kan. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1976. She grew up in the Panhandle area and moved to Sulphur in 1935. She had been the tag agent and the Murray County Court Clerk. She retired as the secretary for the Superintendent at OSD. She taught school before she married and was a member of the Eastern Star, Murray County Democratic Women, a former INCA Board member and was a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Joe Taylor, Sulphur; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Dona Lowrance and Kenny and Debbie Lowrance, all of Sulphur, Joe Don and Debbie Lowrance, Duncanville, Texas; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and five sisters. Pallbearers were Patrick Cleburn, Mack Peterson, Phillip Lowrance, Charles Grant Lowrance, Landon Lowrance, and Ronald Trett.

Euline "Na-Na" Hamilton
Services for Euline Hamilton, 75, Mill Creek, will be held Friday, Oct. 1 at the Blue Baptist Church in Connerville with Rev. Larry Hawkins officiating. Interment will be at the Mill Creek Cemetery under the direction of Campbell-Watts Funeral Home, Tishomingo. She was born on October 26, 1926 in Mill Creek to Jackson and Mae Pearl Durin Emerson. She died Monday, Sept. 30 in Tishomingo. On November 20, 1944 she married Joseph Hamilton in Tishomingo. He preceded her in death August 19, 1968. She was a teacher/nurse and was a member of the Blue Baptist Church and the Chickasaw Senior Citizens in Tishomingo. She is survived by three sons, Robert Hamilton, Mill Creek, Leland "Poss" Hamilton, Duncan and Jerry "Herb" Hamilton, Mill Creek; two daughters Susie Hamilton, and Linda Robins, both of Ada; one brother, Donald Emerson, Mill Creek; two sisters, Jackie Neal, Sulphur and Oretha Ledford, Marlow; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Edith Hubbard; three grandchildren, Scooter Hamilton, Anthony John Robert Hamilton, Steven "Stevie Boy" Hamilton Pallbearers are Dennis Hamilton, Gary Hook, Larry Wisdom, Scott Clark, Gary Blevins, Wesley McElhannon. Honorary pallbearers are her grand children. Wake service will be held Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Campbell-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Tishomingo.

Linda Morgan Senters
Services for Linda Morgan Senters, 51, Yukon, were held Monday, Dec. 2 at 11:00 a.m. at House of Joy Church with Pastor Darryl Manning officiating and eulogy by Rev. John Senters. Interment was at the Hinton Cemetery under the direction of Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Hinton. She was born on August. 26, 1951 in Oklahoma City to J.L. and Jean Alsup Morgan. She died Thursday, Nov. 28 in Yukon. On January 1, 1987 she married William Senters in Midwest City. She was a Ladies Minister at various Churches and was a member of the House of Joy in Oklahoma City. She was a good mother, woman and had a good heart. She is survived by her her husband, William Senters, of the home; three sons, Robert Brian Scott, Moore; David Joseph Scott, Tulsa and Steven Carl Senters, Yukon; one daughter, Kristie Lynn Senters, Yukon; two grand children, Amanda Scott, Sand Springs and Joshua Scott, Tulsa; parents, Jim and Jean Ramey, Sulphur; two brothers, Jimbo and Rhonda, Ramey, Mustang and Peter and Teresa Ramey, Cedar Falls, Iowa; three sisters, Benitia and R.O. Ramey Beesley, Hennepin; Cindy and Tony, Ramey Bluford, Tulsa and Jamie Ramey, Sulphur. She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Michael J. Morgan and grandparents, Herbert and Dorothy Alsup.

Gladys Marie Smith
Services for Gladys Marie Smith, 89, were held Monday, Dec. 2 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dewain Duck officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born Saturday, Feb. 22, 1913 in Waldron, Ark. to Will Smith and Minnie Austin Smith. She died Friday, Nov. 29 in Pauls Valley. On February 11, 1952 she married West Smith in Gainesville, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 1, 1986. She grew up in Arkansas and lived her adult life in this area. She had worked at Braden Dairy packaging ice cream and butter. She later worked as a cook at Artesian Nursing home. She is survived by her two daughters, Crystal Bock and Wanda Dilbeck, both of Sulphur; one son, Bobby Smith, Sulphur; one brother, Pleas Smith, Oklahoma City; one sister, Elsie Iness, Madera, Calf.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Jimmy Lemmings, a granddaughter, Felisha Dilbeck Shova, a great granddaughter, Stephanie Parks and a sister, Addie Williams. Pallbearers were Ed O'Neal, Wayne Morris, David Taylor, Randy Shova, Curtis Dilbeck, Oran Hurley, Jr. and James Ray Smith.

Lu Ella Cain
Graveside services for Lu Ella Cain, 67, were held Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ernest Milam officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born on June 9, 1935 in Pauls Valley to Sterling Price Milam and Dona Etta Bay Milam. She died December 1 in Pauls Valley. She lived in this area all of her life and attended school at several area schools. She had worked at Callaway Nursing Home and Burford Manor. She married Francis Walter Harrigle who preceded her in death and she later married Billy Cain and also preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by one son, Dean Harrigle, Sulphur; three brothers, Daniel Milam, Lubbock, Texas, Ernest and James Milam, both of Pauls Valley; one sister, Etta Faye Williams, Garland, Texas, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Mary Lou Jay, and two brothers, David and Iva Lee Milam.

Bob O. Lindsey
A memorial service under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home was held for Bob O. Lindsey, 72, on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m. at the Clagg Funeral Chapel with Rev. Brent Parsons officiating. He was born on Monday, Oct. 20, 1930 in Tucson, Ariz. to Otto Lindsey and Martha Green Lindsey. He died Sunday, Dec. 1 in Davis. On February 3, 1951 he married Merilyn Duncan in Muskogee. He grew up in California and moved to Muskogee where he graduated from high school. He moved to Tulsa where he owned a landscaping business and came to Sulphur in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Merilyn, Sulphur; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Dan Butler, Sulphur, and Laura and Jeff Dooley, Marietta; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Mary Lindsey, Tulsa and Lee and Christi Lindsey, Kirkwood, Mo., six grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

George Rice Parker, III
Services for George Rice Parker, III., 62 were held November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cowley - Krien Chapel. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley - Krien Funeral Home. He was born July 26, 1940 in Marietta to George Rice Parker II and Ethel Hudspeth. He died November 27 at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Ardmore. In 1980 he married Johnnie Walker in Texas. He was born and raised in Marietta. He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force. After returning home he worked as a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner salesman. He later worked as a Security Guard at the Uniroyal Plant in Ardmore. He had worked for several years as the lawn and garden person at the Wal-Mart in Sulphur. He was an avid OU fan and supporter. He is survived by his wife, Johnnie of the home; his son, Chris Parker, Marietta; two grandsons, and one brother, Paul Barker, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Juanita and Rubye Stevens and his first wife, Wilma Jean Campbell. Pallbearers were Charles Campbell, Bobby Campbell, Robert Sweeden, Terry Walker, Ted Fite and Butch Reed. Honorary pallbearers were Uniroyal security guards and fire team members, Leland Walker and Eddie Jarman.

Mary Beth Woods Heim
Funeral service for Mary Beth Woods Heim, 40, were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Willow View United Methodist Church in Enid. Pastor Rik Marion and Rev. Willard (Chopper) McCartney officiated. Burial was at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Mary Beth Woods Heim was born April 13, 1962, in Garden City, Kansas to Albert A., Jr. and Nancy McGinley Woods, and died March 26, 2003. She attended Hayes Elementary, Enid, Waller Junior High, Enid, and graduated from Enid High School in 1980. She attended Oklahoma State University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She graduated in 1984 with a degree in elementary education. Mary worked at Neurological Surgery Associates in Enid for 12 years. She then worked as a teacher at Garfield Elementary School in Enid. Mary is survived by her daughter, Kayla and son, Ryan, of the home, parents, Al and Nancy Woods of Sun City West, Arizona, her sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Lanny Neal, Sulphur, her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Karrie Woods, Stillwater, her aunt, Carolyn Dovel, Washington, D.C., and numerous other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made through the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home in Enid, to the Mary Beth Heim Memorial Fund at Garfield Elementary School in Enid.

Verle Wayne 'Fred' Byars
Services for Verle Wayne 'Fred' Byars, 80, Merkel, Texas, were held Tuesday, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. at North's Memorial Chapel with Karl King officiating. Interment was at the Stith Cemetery, under the direction of North's Funeral Home. He was born to James Edgar and Ethel Ivy Byars in Sulphur. He died Saturday, March 15 in Merkel, TX. In April, 1942 he married Lucille Clark. Mr. Byars was a graduate of Sulphur High School. He was in the Army and stationed at Camp Barkley with the 45th Division. He was the youngest master sargeant in the service at 19 years old. While waiting to go overseas, he joined the Army Air Force. He spent two and a half years as bombardier instructor at Carlsbad, N.M., followed by four months combat service on Tinian Island. He was a Captain when discharged January 14, 1946. Before entering the service, Mr. Byars was a proofreader and reporter on the Sulphur, Oklahoma Daily News. He attended Hardin-Simmons University and worked towards a Masters Degree in accounting. He was senior accountant for the Harte Hanks Newspapers for 22 years. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the Baker Heights Church of Christ and the Merkel Historical Society. He was in several public, civic and religious organizations. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lucille Byars, Merkel, Texas; one son, Dennis Michael Byars and his wife, Barbara, Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Sylvia Karen Davis and her husband, Hank, Abilene, Texas; four grandchildren, Darren Davis and his wife, Mandy, Damon Byars and his wife, Terrie, Marlee Davis White, and Dow Davis; 10 great-grandchildren, Joshua Byars, Kylie Byars, Garett Byars, Devyn Byars, Drew Byars, Dayton and Daylee White, Rachel and Zoe Davis, Callie Peterson; one brother, James Edgar Byars, Mabank, Texas; one sister, Ruth Mildred Tabor, Dallas, Texas. Flossie Williams
Services for Flossie Williams, 91, Hennepin, will be held Thursday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Living God in Hennepin with Pastor Dalton Cook and Pastor Herbert Jenkins officiating. Interment will be at the Five Mile Cemetery, west of Davis, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home, Davis. She was born on June 9, 1911 in Milo to Wilkes and Mabel Stevenson Martin. She died March 30 in Ardmore. On December 10, 1941 she married Elder Frank James Williams in Hennepin. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1995. She grew up in Milo and attended school there. She had lived in Hennepin since 1941. She worked in Home Health Care and was a homemaker. She belonged to the Church of the Living God in Hennepin. She is survived by four daughters, Romaine Williams, Onita Williams, Loretta Caldwell, all of Hennepin and Christine Lewis, Chickasha; five sons, Ivory Williams and his wife, Juanita, Ellis Ray Williams and his wife, Yvonne, Frank Williams Jr. and his wife, Shirley, all of Hennepin, Richard Paul Williams and his wife, Gloria, Milo, and Robert Knowles, Spencer; two sisters, Lillie Brown and Carrie Knight, both of Milo; 23 grandchildren and 54 great and great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers are grandsons and flower girls will be her granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Francis and Hazel and one son, Frankie Lee, brothers and sisters.

Arthur "John" A. Carter
Longtime Davis resident Arthur "John" A. Carter, 82, died March 25, 2003, at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur. Funeral services were March 29 at Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Donald Carter officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. He was born June 13, 1920, in Katie to Milburn R. and Jessie (Stone) Carter. He grew up in the Katie and Hennepin areas. He married Mallinee "Molly" Sadler on Nov. 28, 1938, and she preceded him in death Feb. 17, 2003. They lived in California for several years before moving to Davis in 1947. Carter worked for Trigg Drilling Company and later for Mobil Oil Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Calvary Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by: two sons, Donald of Davis and Ted of Sparta, Mo.; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cecil. Pallbearers were Jackie Don Sadler, Lloyd Stapp, Keith Brott, Steve Stevens, John Litke and Frank Heaton. Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Mae (King) Sanger
Funeral services for Davis native Beulah Mae (King) Sanger, 89, were held Wednesday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at Krien Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Steve Mayhan officiating. Burial was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Sanger was born April 15, 1913, in Davis to William Ace and Martha Iva (Ringer) King and died March 24, 2003, at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital. She grew up in Davis and graduated from Davis High School in 1933. She married Gordon L. Sanger in 1944, and they traveled extensively during his military career. After his retirement, they made their home in San Antonio. Mrs. Sanger returned to Davis in 1985 after the death of her husband to be near her family. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Boerne, Texas. She is survived by three sisters, Irene Myers and Vye Shackelford, both of Davis, and Dot Likens of Broken Arrow. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Willard King, and sister, Jessie F. (King) Ellis. Honorary pallbearers were her nephews, Michael "Mickey" Shackelford, Ronald "R.D." Shackelford, D.F. Myers, Boyd Ellis, Russell Likens and Tyler Ellis.

Bob Murray
Services for Bob Murray, 76, Maysville, were held Tuesday, April 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Maysville with Rev. Chuck Shilling officiating. Interment was at the Hopping Cemetery, east of Wayne, under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. He was born on December 4, 1926 at Paoli to Ed and Pearl Sharp Murray. He died Saturday, March 29 at Pauls Valley. On December 24, 1947 he married Dorcie Willis in Pauls Valley. He had lived and called Wayne and Maysville his home for most of his life. He grew up in Wayne and attended school there. In November of 1945, he joined the United States Army at Camp Beale, Calif. and was there until the duration of WWII. He again joined the Army in 1951 and stayed until 1969. He was a 22-year veteran of the United States Army and retired as a Staff Sargent. In 1970 he and Dorcie moved back to Maysville and semi-retired. He later worked for Baker-Hughes Tool Company. He was a good neighbor, loved to garden and enjoyed all of his family and friends. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville. He is survived by his wife, Dorcie, of the home; six children, Cathy Schevers, and her husband, Dan, Davenport, Iowa, Brenda Smith and her husband, Larry; Susie Hill and her husband, Terry; Carl Murray and his wife, Michelle; all of Maysville, Ray Murray and his wife, Susan, Sulphur, and John Murray and his wife, Kim, Davis; 11 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Rex Murray and his wife, Ruby, Paoli, and Gene Murray and his wife Elaine, Wayne; one sister Juanita Rollins, Pauls Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carl and Roy Dean, and a sister, Roberta Hanson.

Vera Virgie Brown
Services for Vera Virgie Brown, 98, Davis, will be held Thursday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Sandy Baptist Church with Rev. Leslie Clark officiating. Interment will be at the Sandy Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born Monday, June 6, 1904 in Stonewall. She died Monday, March 31 in Ada. On January 8, 1931 she married Rev. Elias Brown in Sulphur. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1982. She lived in the Stonewall area until 1931. She attended Bloomfield schools and had lived in Sulphur since 1931. She was a housewife and mother and was a member of the Sandy Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Anna Marie Wallace, Ardmore, Madeline Reed, Denton, TX, Juanita Underwood and Mary Underwood, both of Davis; two sons, Paul Brown, Hayward, Calif. and Harley Brown, Harlam, Mont.; one sister, Hattie Harjo, Stonewall; 22 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dennis Underwood, Derick Postoak, Roy Brown, Roger Brown, Jason Watson, Rodney Postoak, and Buck Underwood.

Ted Anderson
Ted Anderson, 88, well-known educator, sports figure, and long-time friend of the Edmond community, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the Manor Care facility in Norman, Okla.. Ted was preceded in death by his wife and soul mate, Murlene, who taught at Edmond High School for many years. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Francis Marlon and Norah Brogdon Anderson (uncle and aunt), and his birth parents, Robert L. and Goldie Brogdon Maloney. He was the last of his Anderson and Maloney brothers and sisters. Ted was born near Sulphur on September 20, 1914. He graduated from Sulphur High School and was a member of the Mantooth-coached wrestling teams. He went on to Central State Teacher's College, now the University of Central Oklahoma, where he began a stellar record in wrestling. He won a National Championship (NCAA) in his weight class in 1936 and was runner-up in 1937. He was named to the All American Wrestling team two years in a row: 1936-37, and was also Oklahoma Collegiate Wrestling Champion in 1935, 36, and 37. He graduated from UCO in July 1939 with a B.S. degree in mathematics and science, and received his teaching certificate in 1939. He earned a M.Ed. from the University of Oklahoma in 1950. Ted married Murlene Patterson of Bradley, Okla. whom he had met at UCO, on April 9, 1937. He taught first at Chelsea, Okla. 1936-37, and then in Edmond where his teaching and coaching career spanned 35 years, the last 20 of which he was Principal of Edmond Junior High. During World War II, Ted was a naval officer, 1942-46, serving as a PL instructor for pilots in training. He was discharged honorably in 1946 and continued in the active Naval Reserve until retirement in 1976. After retirement from the school system, he was elected to the Edmond City Council where he served two terms: 1977-1985. The Ted Anderson Park of Edmond was named in his honor in 1986. During the time he was a Councilman he was active in he Association of Central Oklahoma Government, serving on its Board of Directors, working on water problems and local government relations with the federal government. Ted was a 50-year active member of the Edmond Kiwanis Club. He was an Elder and Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond. He was a life member of the American Legion, held positions of responsibility in the Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, Senior Citizens groups, and the UCO Alumni Association. He was Past President of Oklahoma County Teachers and active in the Oklahoma Coaching Association. He was a Mason and on the Edmond Historic Trust Board in 1990. The Edmond Chamber of Commerce presented him with a plaque for four years of dedicated service in 1982. Ted served as Director for wrestling tournaments in the armed forces and in Oklahoma. He received the UCO Wrestling Hall of Fame Award in 1991 and the Coach's Lifetime Service Award from the Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater in 1996. The wrestling Room at UCO is named in his honor. Ted Anderson served well all the communities of which he was a part. He was a friend to many and leaves a host of former students and colleagues who enjoyed their interactions with him immensely. Ted is survived by his niece and her husband, Mary Carol and M. Charles Gilbert, Norman, Okla.; his niece and husband, Mary Beth and Myles Mitchell, Spotsylvania, Va.; and his nephew and wife, Louis J. and Zella Anderson of Beavercreek, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, in the old sanctuary, at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2003. A reception will follow at the Church. Viewing was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, and concluded Wednesday evening. Contributions may be made in memory to the Ted Anderson Wrestling Fund at the UCO Foundation, 100 N. University Drive, Edmond, OK 73034. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home of Edmond.

Mickey Pat Merrill
Graveside services for Mickey Pat Merrill, 75, Burleson, Texas were held Friday, May 23, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis with Rev. James Merrill officiating. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home, Davis. Mr. Merrill was born January 8, 1928 in Shawnee to Charles and Flora Maberry Merrill. He died on May 18, 2003, at Fort Worth Texas. Mr. Merrill grew up in Southern Oklahoma and attended school in Wilson and graduated from Durant High School in 1945. He served in the Army and then attended OU where he graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. Mr. Merrill worked in pharmacies in Oklahoma City, Durant, Dallas and Fort Worth. Other family members preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Charles R. Merrill and Wendell H. Merrill. He is survived by one sister, Rella F. Helms and husband, Joe Merrill, Okla. City; five nephews and two nieces.

Roy Charles Fry
Graveside services for Roy Charles Fry, 89, Konawa, were held Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell with Rev. Charley Henthorn officiating. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home, Konawa. Mr. Fry was born November 21, 1913 in Newton, Kan. to Frank Richard Fry and Bertha Elizabeth (Rath) Fry. He died on May 22, 2003 at Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City. On July 25, 1936 he married Barbara "Olene" (Barton) Fry in Purcell. He lived the last six years of his life in Konawa, moving there from Madill. He retired from Kraft Foods and was a Baptist. His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Olene" Fry, of the home; two children, Roy Fry, Jr., Chihuahua, Mexico and Monte Surber, Konawa; one brother, Roland Fry, Altus; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Warren Henry Swinford
The family of Warren Henry Swinford, 50, held a private funeral services. Interment was at the Dolberg Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home. Mr. Swinford was born on December 1, 1952 in Henderson, Nev. to Orville Swinford and Fern (Willie) Swinford. He died May 23, 2003 at his residence in Sulphur. He was born and lived in Henderson, Nev. until he moved to Stratford in 1960. He lived in Startford and Sulphur until 1983, then moved to Anchorage, Alaska. He lived there from 1983 to 1988 then returned to Sulphur where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a member of the World Wide Church of God. Those who preceded him in death were his mother and father. He is survived by two sons, Aaron Robert Swinford, Wynnewood, and T.J. Swinford, Sulphur; one daughter, Leslee Nichole Furr, Wynnewood; the mother of his children, Debbie Brown; four grandchildren; one sister, Linda Herring, Sulphur and one brother, Glenn Swinford, Antioch, Calif.

Heather Ann Rush
Rosary for Heather Ann Rush, 25, will be held Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Clagg Funeral Home with Deacon Mike Radosevich officiating. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Ray Ackerman officiating. Services are under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. She was born Monday, February 27, 1978 at Stettler Alberta, Canada to David John Rush and Margaret Rose Zorn Rush. She died Sunday, May 25, 2003 at Norman, Okla. She had lived in Roff and Sulphur area most other life. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1997 then attended ECU majoring in Art. She had lived in Norman since January. She had worked for Pizza Hut in Davis, Sulphur and Ada. She was currently working for Hobby Lobby in Norman. She attended St. Frances Catholic Church in Sulphur and St Joseph Catholic Church in Ada. She is survived by her parents, David and Margaret Rush, Roff; a son, Dylan James Rush, Roff; a brother, James Rush, Roff; a sister, Jennifer Rush, Roff; and two nieces Carley and Rileigh Rush, Roff. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Carl Rowe, Jr.
Services for Carl Rowe, Jr., 78, were held Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at Fox Funeral Chapel in Davis. Interment was at Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home. He was born on July 5, 1924 in Sulphur, to Carl and Berdie (Bean) Rowe. He died on May 25, 2003 at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur. On July 13, 1946 he married Susan Joanna Vernon in Yuma, Ariz. Carl lived in this area most of his life, attending school at Woodland. He served in the Navy during WW II , receiving the Purple Heart and other medals. He was a member of the Davis Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is survived by his wife, of the home, Susan Joanna Row, Davis; one son, John Rowe and wife, Janet, Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Edmond Rowe, Lakeside, Calif.; four sisters, Wanda Stoll, Kansas, Okla., Warrie Solace, Maybell, Colo., Laverne Johnson, La Mesa, Calif. and Margaret Templeton, Euless, Texas; two grandsons, Nathan and Jonathan and several nieces and nephews Pallbearers were Chuck Hill, Stanley Vernon, Rob Vernon, Ricky Stutt and Stever Warner. Honorary Pallbears were Nathan Rowe and Jonathan Rowe.

Neal Preston Rose
Graveside services for Neal Preston Rose, 69, Davis will be held Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Finis Stillman and Rev. Randy Chapman officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home. Mr. Rose was born on October 27, 1933 in Davis to John Bryson and Lon Ollie (Smith) Rose. He died on May 26, 2003 at Mercy Memorial in Ardmore. He married Charlene (Rush) Rose on May 6, 1955, in Gainesville, Texas. Neal lived in Davis all of his life. He attended Davis School through the eighth grade. He worked in the oil field starting at the age of nineteen and worked there for thirty-two years. Neal owned and operated Rose Grocery Store since 1982. He was a member of the Davis Chamber of Commerce. Neal was a "successful person" and was very honorable. He is survived by his wife of the home, Charlene Rose; one sister, Philious Whisenhunt, Kinsland, Texas; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Frank, Gary, Joe and Billy Rose. Pallbearers will be Dick Jones, Bob Wiles, Joe Ray Primrose, Steven Reeves, Homer Ratchford and Wayne Holler.

Glenn C. James
Graveside services for Glenn C. James, 83, were held Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home. Mr. James was born Monday, March 15, 1920 at Hennepin to Jesse James and Della Sewell James. He died Sunday, May 25, 2003 in Ardmore. He was married to Thais James and she preceded him in death. He grew up in the Davis area, graduating from Woodland High School. He attended Okla. A & M. He lived in California for several years then moved back to this area about four years ago. He lived in Choctaw until March 2003 when he moved to Ardmore. He served in the U.S. Air Force in WW II and worked as a truck driver. He attended the Baptist Church. He is survived by three brothers, Bill James, Choctaw, Jesse James, Jr., Oklahoma City and Bob James, Teague, Texas; four sisters, Bea Allmon, Sulphur, Geneva Herndon, Ardmore, Katherine Foster, Oklahoma City and Betty Rose, Oklahoma City; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd James.
