DORIS J. SPARKS
Doris J. Sparks passed away June 23, 2000 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma following an extended illness. She was born on February 10, 1917 in Pawhuska the daughter of George Thomas and Julia (Waller) Crawford and attended Pawhuska schools, graduating Pawhuska High School in 1938. November 28, 1940 in Carthage, Missouri, she married George R. Sparks who preceded her in death on May 18, 1989. Doris was a member of The First Baptist Church of Pawhuska and the Vota Vita Sunday Class. Doris worked for four years at Woolworth’s in Pawhuska, two years for Kress's in Bartlesville and twenty-five years for Safeway in Bartlesville. The Sparks family returned to Pawhuska In 1970, after ill health forced Mr. Sparks to retire in 1967. Surviving are: A son, Tom and his wife Linda Sparks of Norman, Oklahoma; two step-sons, Gerry Sparks and Larry Sparks, both of Bakersfield. California; two brothers, Charles Crawford and his wife Maxine of Pawhuska, and Lloyd Crawford and his wife Ann of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a sister, Telitha Edmundson of Pasadena, California; two grandsons, John Sparks of Houston, Texas and Scott Sparks of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a great granddaughter, April Sparks and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services were held Monday, June 26, in the First Baptist Church in Pawhuska with Doctor Larry Wallace officiating. Burial was in The Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

LEROY MUSHRUSH
June 23, 2000 -A private family service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the family home and a graveside service will be held at 4:00p.m. at the American Legion Annex of Woodland Memorial Park for Leroy Mushrush, 70, of Skiatook and longtime Sand Springs resident, who passed away on June 22, 2000 at his home. He was born on February 22, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William and Eva (Kahn) Mushrush. He was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He received The Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Mushrush graduated from Tulsa Central High School and received his college degree from OU. he received his law degree from the Tulsa University Law School. He moved to Sand Springs in 1959 and had his own Law Office in Sand Springs for many years. He married Julia (Judy) L. Barton in April of 1993. He is survived by his wife Judy Mushrush of the home; three daughters, Marcy, Jamie and Megan Barton all of Skiatook; three sons, Steven Mushrush of Tulsa, Larry ~Mushrush of Sand Springs, and Kendall Barton of Hattieville, Arkansas; one brother, Bill Mushrush of Houston, TX; one aunt, Tillie Kahn of Tulsa; a God-Son, Rex Duncan of Sand Springs; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and his God Family, the family of Don and Susan Pitts of Sand Springs. Interment followed the military graveside under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service.

LOUIS OWEN “BITSY” STABLER
OCNS – June 21, 2000 – Services will be held Friday, June 23, at 10:00 a.m., in The Wakon Iron Community Building in Pawhuska Indian Village for Louis Owen “Bitsy” Stabler, 66, who passed away June 20, at his Tulsa residence following a prolonged illness. Bitsy was born February 2, 1934 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma the son of George Owen and Margaret (Red Eagle) Stabler. He attended Pawhuska schools, graduating in 1951 from Pawhuska High School and later from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. March 9, 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma he married Lina J. Moore, who survives at the home in Tulsa. Bitsy retired from Columbian Chemicals as an accountant and later was a tax consultant for H & R Block. He was a member of The Woodland Acres Baptist Church of Tulsa, the Osage Indian Gourd Clan, The Pawhuska War Dance Committee, The Indian Theatre Club and a past president of The Kihe-Kah-Steh Powwow Club of Skiatook. Survivors in addition to his wife Lina are: a son, George O. and wife, LaDawn Stabler of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a daughter, Janna L. Stabler of Tulsa; brother, Paul and wife, Joyce Stabler of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Lindsay M. Stabler, George Owen Stabler, Jr. and Daniel Aidan Stabler all of Broken Arrow and numerous other relatives and friends. Louis was preceded in death by his father, George Owen Stabler and mother, Margaret Red Eagle Iron. He will lie in state at the family home in Pawhuska Indian Village from Tuesday Evening until Friday morning when he will be moved to the Wakon Iron Community Building. Burial will be in The Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

HELEN W. STEPHENSON
June 11, 2000 - Helen W. Stephenson, longtime Pawhuska resident passed away June 9. 2000 in The Pawhuska Nursing Home following an extended illness. Helen was bom July 30, 1906 in Hall Summit, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph Robert and Ethel Fern (Chrisman) Davidson. The Davidson Family moved to Pawhuska when Helen was a child and she attended The Pawhuska School System, graduating from Pawhuska High School. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church. Helen has no known survivors and was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Marjorie Davidson. Graveside Services will be Tuesday, June 13, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. in The Pawhuska Cemetery with Donald Stephens officiating under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Directors.

BOB G. BROWN
June 11, 2000 - Bob G. Brown, 71, longtime Pawhuska, Oklahoma resident passed away June 8, 2000 in The St. John's Medical Center, Tulsa. OK Bob was born on April 7, 1929 in Osage, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Oliver and Alto Velma (Cox) Brown. The Brown family lived on Sand Creek, north of Pawhuska for a number of years where Bob attended The Pappin School before finishing his education in The Pawhuska School System. He was married on June 7,1952 to Virginia Rose Firrel in Webb City, Oklahoma. Bob was employed in the oil field most of his life and worked in construction in the removing of railroads. Surviving in addition to his wife, Virginia of the home in Pawhuska, are six children; Amy Lou and Rodney Ricketts of Foraker, OK, Billy Joe and Christy Brown of Dewey, OK, Ronnie Gene and Delia Brown, Curtis Lee Brown, Debbie Sue and George Berghoefer and Denise Kaye and Robert Stanford, all of Pawhuska, OK; three sisters, Bernice Mains of Winfield, Kansas; Ruby Vogele of Shidler, Oklahoma and Doris Wilhelm of Winfield, Kansas; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be Tuesday. June 13, 2000 at 10:00 A.M. in The Light House Church in Pawhuska with burial In The Pappin Cemetery. Reverend Don Reed and Reverend Jackie Vogele will officiate under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Directors.

CLEO LOUISE JONES
May 30, 2000 - Cleo Jones, 72, longtime Wynona, Oklahoma area resident, died May 27, 2000 in Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born November 17, 1927 in Wynona, the daughter of Delbert and Maude (Crumbwell) Moler. She attended the Wynona School System, was a member of The Assembly of God Church of Wynona, for several years owned and operated Cleo's Ceramic Shop in Wynona and was also a caregiver for the elderly and those in failing health. Surviving are six children: Jo Emma and her husband Theral Lane, Richard and his wife, Alicia Vulgamore and Jack Ware all of Wynona; Jackie and her husband Jack Whitney of Bowring, Oklahoma; Sue and husband Tom Proctor of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; David and wife Joanna Ware of Ponca City, Oklahoma; a sister, Emma Lou Delaney of Stephens, Arkansas; a brother, Dale Moler of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Tuesday, May 30, with burial in the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

DANIEL "DANNY" WAYNE WALKER
May 30, 2000 - Danny Walker, 49, died unexpectedly, May 18, at his home in Pawhuska, Oklahoma following a prolonged illness. Danny was born April 21, 1951 in Denver, Colorado, the son of John Daniel and Gloria June (Braning) Walker. A longtime resident of Pawhuska, Danny was employed at The Bronze Horse. Surviving are: His parents, John and Gloria Walker; a brother, Todd John Walker; two sisters, Susan June Hamman and Jerri LeAnne Gonzalez all of Pawhuska and a host of other relatives and friends. Danny was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Lee Mollendor and a brother, William Arthur Walker. Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

Franke Carl Wheeler
Graveside Services for Franke Carl Wheeler will be held at 2: 00 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, at Ethel Reese Cemetery in Barnsdall, Oklahoma with Elders Morton Hampton and Roger Tracy officiating. Arrangements and interment will be under the direction of Peters?Stumpff Funeral Home of Skiatook, Oklahoma. Mr. Wheeler was born September 15, 1950 in Tulsa to Carl R. and Maxine Ballard Latchaw Wheeler. He was raised and attended school in Sperry, Oklahoma and attended Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma. He worked as art insulator for H.B. Zachary Co. His hobby was fishing. He had served in the US. Air Force, stationed in Alaska. Mr. Wheeler died May 11, 2000 as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident northeast of Barnsdall. He is survived by his father and stepmother: Carl and Iva Wheeler of Vinita, Oklahoma; two sons: Chaz Wheeler of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Chad Wheeler of Tulsa; two daughters: Erin Wheeler and Megan Wheeler, both of Tulsa; three grandchildren: Harmonie Venarrous, Elie Venarrous and Emily Broostin, all of Tulsa; five brothers: Gene (& wife Patricia) Wheeler of Barnsdall, Robert Latchaw and William Latchaw, both of Dallas, Texas, Mark Dixon of Vinita, Oklahoma and Brian Dixon of Langley, Oklahoma; stepsister: Kim Mullaney of Dallas. He was precede in death by his mother and one sister., Teresa Allen, Honorary Casket Bearers for the service will be Dustin Hynes, Daryle Pool, Chaz Wheeler, Brandon Wheeler, Issac Salyer, Tommy G. Salyer.

CLEO AMOS MARTIN
May 9, 2000 - Cleo Amos Martin, 79, passed away May 8, 2000 in The Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He Was born September 20, 1920 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma the son of Oscar and Gertrude (Grider) Martin and was married December 20, 1940 in Durant, Oklahoma to Jean Aline Bailey who survives at the home in Wynona, Oklahoma. A member of The Baptist Church, Mr. Martin was a self-employed carpenter, mechanic and farmer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in The U S Army. Surviving in addition to his wife, Jean of the home are three sons; Jimmy Martin of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Richard Martin of Roundrock, Texas and Cleo Martin of Rockwell, Texas; a daughter, Janice Lankford of Roundrock, Texas; three sisters, Evelyn Rice of Irving, Texas, Bee Davis of Texas and Lorene Howard of Oklahoma City; a brother, Maxey Martin of Irving, Texas; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2000 in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with burial at 3:30 p.m. in The Tishomingo Cemetery, Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Reverend John White will officiate under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Directors.

JOHN ED PRADMORE
May 9, 2000 - John Ed Pradmore, 51, former Pawhuska, Oklahoma resident now of Fairfax, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly. May 8, 2000 in The Pawhuska Hospital. He was born July 14, 1948 the son of Ed and Lorena (Robertson) Pradmore, Jr., attended Pawhuska Schools and was a member of the Osage Indian Baptist Church. He was married July 18, 1966 in Nelagoney, Oklahoma to Cynthia Marguerite Cass, who survives at the home in Fairfax. John was active in Osage Tribal Customs and was associated with The Drum Keeper of the Gray Horse District. A longtime oil field pump repairman, John was employed by the Green Country Supply in Pawhuska. Survivors in addition to his wife Cynthia are: three daughters; Kimberly and her husband, Jon Hinman and Michelle Lea and her husband Ron Teel, all of Pawhuska; and Julie Ann Sam of Skiatook, Oklahoma; his mother Lorena and her husband Kenneth Howell of Wynona, Oklahoma; two brothers, Jerry Pradmore of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Jack and his wife Debbie Pradmore of Pawhuska; a sister, Jan and her husband Joe Wilson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Kendall Marie Hinman, Sheridan Nicole Reed, Jessica Teel, Shawna Teel and Ronald Teel and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his father, grandparents and a brother, Jimmie. John will lie in state at The Wakon Iron Community Building in Pawhuska, Oklahoma from the morning of Tuesday, May 9, until service time on Thursday, May 11. Services will be Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with burial in the Nelagoney Cemetery in Nelagoney, Oklahoma. Johnson Funeral Director's are in charge of arrangements.

CAROLYN ANN CARL
Carolyn Ann Carl, Shidler, Oklahoma resident, died Friday May 5, 2000 at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. She was 62. The funeral service will be held at 10,00 a.m., Tuesday May 9, 2000 at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma with the Reverend. Carl Neal, Pastor, Grace Baptist Church of Shidler officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Carolyn was born April 3, 1938 in Memphis, TN. She grew up in Memphis and received her education there. On May 10, 1975 she was married to Sonny Carl in Ponca City. The couple made their home in Perry and Newkirk before moving to Shidler. Mrs. Carl worked as a nurses aide at the hospital in Perry for several years. She later worked at the hospital in Ponca City and then at the Fairfax Hospital until retiring due to failing health. She stayed active around her home following her retirement. Her enjoyments included crocheting, and she had made many Afghans and other items for her family. Surviving are her husband, Sonny, of the Shidler home; her mother, Dorothy Hart, of Perry, OK her children, Janet Criswell, Dean Ferguson, and Chris Ferguson, all of Perry, Wayne VanHoesen, of Austin, TX, Ed VanHoesen, of Perry, Pamela Kay Carl, of Covington, OK Tony Michael Carl, of Big Spring, TX, Jerry Carl, of Shidler, Tammy and Ruby Ann, both of Enid, OK Michael Carl, of California and Carol Jean Carl, of Shidler; and numerous grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m., Tuesday until time of service.

BILL E. PARKS
OCNS – May 3, 2000 – Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m., in The Light House Pentecostal Church, 713 Leahy, Pawhuska, Oklahoma for Billy E. Parks, 71, who passed away May 1, 2000 in the Pawhuska Hospital following a prolonged illness. He was born April 10, 1929 in the Sunset Lake area, northeast of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of Reverend Charley H. and Bessie Ann (Juby) Parks. He attended the Pawhuska School system and worked in the oil field all of his life. On January 11, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma he married Sandra “Sandy” Nolan who survives at the home in Pawhuska. Bill was a member of The Light House Pentecostal Church, loved hunting and fishing and was an amateur taxidermist. Survivors in addition to his wife, Sandy, of the home are: five children, Martin Parks and Gloria “Jeannie” Trent of Pawhuska; Billy Parks II of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Johnny Davis of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Terri Kitchens of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; a sister, Charlene Louthan of Enid, Oklahoma; a brother, Charles Parks of Pawhuska; seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Delfine Hughbanks, a grandson, Jason Hughbanks; his parents and a sister, Bonnie LaFerry. Burial will be in the Pappan Cemetery, north of Pawhuska with Reverend Bill Boutman officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

LEWIS WARREN "PETE" LABADIE
April 27, 2000 - Mr. Lewis Warren "Pete" Labadie, 57, of Bartlesville, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at his residence in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Mr. Labadie will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend David Cottam of the Dewey Church of the Nazarene officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home of Bartlesville. Casket escorts will include members of the Kansas International Oldtimer's Rodeo Association. Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 11:00 a.m., Friday as the casket will remain closed at the service. Memorials have been established to First Church of the Nazarene, 3650 S.E. Adams Blvd., Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74006 and to the Kansas International Oldtimer's Rodeo Association, with the donations payable to the Lewis W. Mr. Labadie was born on November 7, 1942 at Bartlesville to Charles Warren and Melba Jean (Mills) Labadie. He grew up in Caney, Kansas and graduated from high school there in 1960. He attended Kansas University where he received his Bachelors degree in 1965. Mr. Labadie served with the National Guard from March 15, 1965 until March 14,1971. He was married to Donna Marie Henshall on December 3, 1976 in Bartlesville where they made their home. Mr. Labadie was employed with Philllips Petroleum Company for twenty-seven years, mostly at the Research Center. He attend the First Church of the Nazarene, was a member of the Kansas International Oldtimer’s Rodeo Association and enjoyed raising cattle and horses. Mr. Labadie is survived by his wife, Mrs. Donna Labadie of Bartlesville two daughters, Cindy Wilhite and her husband, David of Olathe, Kansas, and Debbie Wally and her husband, John of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sons, Mike Labadie and his wife, Suzanne of Oklahoma City, and Lance Labadie of Bartlesville, his mother, Melba Labadie of Caney, Kansas, and three grandchildren, Jessica Wally, Megan Wally, and Page Wilhite. Mr. Labadie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Warren Labadie in 1997

RICHARD LEON "BILL" JACOBS
April 27, 2000 - Graveside Services for Richard Leon "Bill " Jacobs will be held Friday, April 28, at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, Oklahoma with Pastor Floyd Collins officiating. Arrangements and interment will be under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home. Mr. Jacobs, 88, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma died April 26, 2000 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born August 21, 1911 in Henryetta. Oklahoma to Walter and Margaret (Horn) Jacobs. For a while, in his youth, he lived in California before returning to Oklahoma. He was a bricklayer and enjoyed woodcarving and liked to fish and hunt. He is survived by his wife: Norma Lee (Vore) of the home; one son, Robert and wife Donna Jacobs of Dewey, Oklahoma; three daughters: Patricia Lee Jacobs of Bartlesville; Peggy Joyce and husband Bob Lea of Bartlesville; Melissa and husband Mark Jordan of Dewey; one brother, Herbert and wife Margaret Jacobs of Tulsa; one sister, Martha Belle Edwards of Tulsa; twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

RICHARD WILLIAM "BILL" HEY
April 27, 2000 - Mr. Richard William "Bill" Hey, 54, resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died at 2:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2000 in an industrial accident near Claremore, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Mr. Hey will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 29, in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville with Reverend Willie Jones of the United Methodist Church at Independence, Kansas officiating. Interment will be in the Moline Cemetery at Moline Kansas at 2:00 PM where the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites. Funeral services and interment will be under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts for Mr. Hey will be Michael Williams, Craig Hey, Rodney Williams, Brad Hey, Roger Stoops and Mario Ouellet. He was raised and received his education in Southeast Kansas graduating high school at Moline, Kansas in 1964. Mr. Hey was married to Karen Rogers on May 5, 1973 at Moline. Mr. Hey has been employed with Blake and Bellco Company's for the last thirty?three years. He was currently working in the Claremore area at the time of his accident. Mr. Hey is a member of Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284; Scottish Rite of Tulsa; Akdar Shrine of Tulsa, and Kara Grotto of : j Bartlesville and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He has lived in Bartlesville since 1986. Mr. Hey is survived by his wife Karen Hey of the family home in Bartlesville; two sons Richard Wade Hey of Arkansas City, Kansas and William Matthew Hey of „, Bartlesville; two brothers Frank M. Hey of Independence, Kansas and Merle Hey of Moline, Kansas; six sisters Ethel Simpson of Arkansas City, Kansas, Bea Harrison of Newton, Kansas, Wanda Hey of Arkansas City, Kansas, Pearl Williams of Moline, Kansas, Lena Ouellet of Longton, Kansas and Linda High of Elk Falls, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. GLORIA WARWICK
Mrs. Gloria Warwick, 79, resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died at 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 23, in the Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Friends who wish to sign Mrs. Warwick's memorial book may do so until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Mrs. Warwick was born September 29, 1920 at New York City, New York to Morris and Lillian (Untrecht) Warner. She was raised and received her education in New York City, graduating high school there. She attended the Comptometry Business School in New York City, for one year. She was married to William Earl "Billy" Warwick on January 18, 1943 at Newport, Rhode Island while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. Mrs. Warwick was employed at Macy's Department Store in New York City, until moving to Dewey, Oklahoma in 1945. She was then employed in various sales jobs in the Bartlesville, area and also was involved in volunteer work with the elderly. Mrs. Warwick is survived by two sons Steve Warwick of Bartlesville, and Bill Warwick and his wife Sheila of Ochelata; seven grandchildren Brad Warwick, Summer Warwick, Matt Warwick, Meredith Warwick Swenke, Amanda Warwick, Terry Gay and t Scotty Gay; four great grandchildren Conner Swenke, Daniel Warwick, Lancelot Gay and Taylor Gay and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Warwick was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Billy Warwick on July 27, 1999 and one daughter, Carol Ann Warwick. MRS. NELLIE MAE (HURT) LEMLEY
OCNS – April 25, 2000 - Mrs. Nellie Mae (Hurt) Lemley, 77, a Barnsdall, Oklahoma native and wife of Mr. Paul J. Lemley, died at 10:11 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the family residence in Barnsdall. Funeral services for Mrs. Lemley were held Tuesday in the sanctuary of the Barnsdall, First Baptist Church. Reverend James "Jim" Brunk, former pastor of the church, was the officiant. Committal prayers and interment were directed in the new section of the Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, by The Arnold Moore?Barnsdall Funeral Service. Nellie Mae Hurt was born on October 16, 1922 at Big Heart (now Barnsdall), Oklahoma in Osage County. She was the daughter of the late Orval B. “Broady" and Mirtie Ellen (Harvey) Hurt. Nellie Mae was reared and educated in the Big Heart and Barnsdall communities and was graduated with the Senior Class of 1940 from the Barnsdall High School. She had attended the Oklahoma A & M College at Stillwater, Okla. for two years before becoming employed by the Boeing Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas as a secretary. She and Paul J. Lemley were married at Rochester, Minnesota on April 4, 1945, and after Mr. Lemley's honorable discharge from the military, they moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma where Mr. Lemley was employed by the Shell Oil Company until 1950 when the family moved to Elk City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Lemley attended a beauty college in Elk City and became a licensed cosmetologist and was employed by a local beauty shop in Elk City. The Lemley family moved to Kalkaska, Michigan where Mrs. Lemley retired from the cosmetology business. The Lemley family moved to Midland, Texas with Mr. Lemley's employment until 1982 when they returned to the Barnsdall community to live in retirement. Mrs. Lemley was a member of the Barnsdall, First Baptist Church. Mrs. Lemley lay in state in The Arnold Moore?Barnsdall Funeral Home on Monday until she was removed to the church for final rites on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Lemley is survived by her husband, Paul J., of the Barnsdall home; a daughter, Mrs. Paula Jill St. Laurent, Stillwater, Oklahoma; a son, Larry Ned Lemley, Victoria, Canada; one brother, Joe Hurt, Barnsdall; four sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Vona) Anthony, Mrs. A. O. (Mildred) McKinney, both of Barnsdall, Mrs. Parthina "Pat" Taylor, Skiatook, Oklahoma and Mrs. Hortense Dixon, Vernal, Utah; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father; mother; and three brothers, Kenneth, Clove and Jeri Hurt.

Mr. Kenneth J. Chambers
OCNS – April 25, 2000 - Mr. Kenneth J. Chambers, 65, of Dewey, Oklahoma died at 12:43 p.m. Saturday, April 22, at the Hillcrest , Medical Center in Tulsa. Memorial services for Mr. Chambers will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday at the Dewey United Methodist Church with Reverend Don Simpson officiating. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. .d Mr. Chambers was born on October 27, 1934 at Galena, Missouri to Robert and Elsie (Bailey) Chambers. He grew up and received his education at Galena until leaving school in the eleventh grade to join the U.S. Navy with several of his buddies. He r served in the U.S. Navy until receiving his Honorable Discharge on December 27, 1968 after serving over 15 years. He was married to Rosetta Marie McDougal in January of 1969 in North Carolina. Following his military discharge, they made their home at Cherokee, Kansas while they both worked at a printing plant in Girard, Kansas. In 1973 they moved to Dewey, Oklahoma where Mr. Chambers was employed at Central States Printing for 19 years until his retirement due to ill health in 1992. He was a member of the Dewey United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children. Mr. Chambers is survived by his wife, Rosetta Chambers of Dewey, four children, Vickie Wilson of Norfolk, Virginia, Kenny Chambers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Tiffany Chambers and Kasey Chambers of the home in Dewey, two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Chambers was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie Bailey Chambers, his father, Robert Chambers, and two brothers, Kurt Chambers, and Butch Chambers.

OSCAR RUDOLPH HARPER
OCNS – April 24, 2000 – Oscar Rudolph Harper was born November 1, 1918 the fifth of eight children born to John and Nettie Harper in Stroud, Oklahoma, and attended Honey Grove District 101 School before moving to Independence, Kansas, where he finished the eighth grade. Working to support the family, Oscar enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) where he served from 1936 to 1938, at which time he moved to Pawhuska, Oklahoma where he met and married Nadine O. Sutton in November, 1939. To this union a daughter, Constance Rosetta was born. In 1940, Oscar was drafted into the United States Army, serving two years in the United States and Europe. After serving his country, Oscar returned to Pawhuska where he worked for the next forty-six years, including thirty-nine years with the Pawhuska Medical Clinic, retiring in 1997. Oscar confessed and accepted Jesus Christ in March, 1986, becoming a member of the Derrick Chapel A.M.E. Church. Thursday, April 20, 2000 at 11:20 a.m., Oscar made his transition from this world in the comfort of his home. We will meet him again in Heaven with Our Lord. Oscar, “Paw Paw”, is survived by his wife, Nadine O. Harper, his daughter, Constance R. Davis, granddaughters, Charita N. Maxie and Crystal L. Walker; grandson, Chuck Davis; grandsons-in-law, Chris Maxie and Chris Walker; granddaughter-in-law, Freda Davis; great-granddaughter, Clarke O. Maxie; great-grandson, Davis C. Maxie; sisters, Zepha Coffee and Zelma Harris; brother, Lux Harper and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Julius Harper, Eddie Harper and Henry Harper; sister Rosetta Winston and son-in-law, Charles E. Davis. Funeral services were held Monday, April 24, 2000 in the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Pawhuska, Oklahoma followed by burial in the Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Directors.

JAMES LEE "JIM" HAMILTON, JR.
April 20, 2000 - James Lee "Jim" Hamilton, Jr., devoted husband of Dorothy Lee (Barton) Hamilton and beloved father of Kay Grant of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Lee Barnhisel of Lawton, Oklahoma and Janie "AJ" Hamilton of Portland, Oregon; and cherished grandfather of James Lofton of Santa Fe, New Mexico, died April 19, 2000 after an extended illness. Mr. Hamilton was born ten miles west of Pawhuska, the son of James Lee and Christine (Severns) Hamilton and ranched in Osage County, Oklahoma most of his life. He was a past deacon and treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church and was a fifty year Mason (32nd Degree) with Wah-shah-she Lodge #110. Jim's heritage and life have been preserved through his bronze sculpture that depicts the setting and family life of The American West. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Jim Hamilton OSU (Oklahoma State University) Scholarship Fund can be sent to OSU foundation, H 100 Student Union, Stillwater, OK 74078-0123, ATTN: Dr. Ron Area. MARY MAMIE LONG
April 20, 2000 - Mary Mamie Long, 94, longtime Pawhuska resident passed away April 18, 2000 in Winfield, Kansas following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Long was born November 3, 1905 in Sacred Heart, Oklahoma the daughter of Joel and Mary Ann (Shopwatuck) DeLonais and on October 7, 1921 in Pawhuska, married Harry Morris Long who preceded her in death December 15, 1964. Mrs. Long was a member of the Pottawatomie Indian Tribe and The Calvary Baptist Church and was a former member of The Lynn Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are: two daughters, Lois Caldwell and Louise Snider both of Pearland, Texas; a son, Franklin Long of Winfield, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, twenty-two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be Friday, April 21, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. in the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Pawhuska with burial in the Pawhuska Cemetery. Reverend Scott Hill will officiate under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

ESTHER IMOGENE LASSLEY
April 18, 2000 - Esther Imogene Lassley, 72, Skiatook, Oklahoma native, died at 1:50 a.m., Sunday, April 16, 2000 at her Skiatook residence. Mrs. Lassley was born June 15, 1927 in Skiatook to Eugene and Esther (Copeland) Morgan and grew up and received her education in the California and Skiatook area schools. November 15, 1942 she married Herman Lassley in Claremore, Oklahoma and the couple made their home in Skiatook, where they have lived since their marriage. Mrs. Lassley was employed with Munsingwear Manufacturing in Hominy for ten years in addition to being a homemaker. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and currently was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors in addition to her husband, Herman of the home in Skiatook are two children; Carolyn Landis and husband Joe, of Skiatook and Linda Stringer and husband, Tim of Dewey, Oklahoma; one son-in-law, Howard Wilson, a sister, Judy Spurgeon, two brothers, Frank Morgan and James Morgan all of Skiatook and a sister, Ruth Parks of Claremore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Lassley was preceded in death by her mother and father, and by one daughter, DeAnn Wilson.

DANNY RAY TEAFATILLER
April 18, 2000 - Funeral services for Danny Ray Teafatiller, 48, who died Sunday, April 16, in Okemah, Oklahoma, were held Wednesday, April 19, in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah, with interment in the Welty Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Teafatiller was born October 1, 1951 in Sacramento, California, the son of Milton James Teafatiller and Ina Mae Adams Teafatiller and moved to Okfuskee County, Oklahoma in 1959. He was a 1968 graduate of Mason High School and was currently employed with Citizens State Bank. Survivors include his mother, Ina Mae Teafatiller of Okemah; one brother, Billy Gene Teafatiller of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; four sisters, Linda Ayler of Harrah, Oklahoma; Vickie Taylor and Sandra Miozzi, both of Canon City, Colorado and Kathy Jane Teafatiller of Okemah. He was preceded in death by his father and all his grandparents. Pallbearers were Randy Adams, Ricky Adams, Rusty Adams, Ronnie Stiles, Mark Clark and Matthew Ross.

INICE VIVIAN THOMAS
April 18, 2000 - Inice Vivian Thomas, 87, longtime Shidler, Oklahoma resident, died April 15, at the Pawhuska Nursing Home. Inice Vivian Epley was born May 28, 1912 at Tanger, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Henry Epley and Nora Belle (Tedrick) Epley and received her education in Lyman, Oklahoma and Webb City, Oklahoma schools. She was married October 3, 1929 at Newkirk, Oklahoma, and the couple made their first home in Webb City. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the First Christian Church of Shidler, a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and enjoyed fishing and crocheting. Mrs. Thomas is survived by one son, Warren Thomas of Shidler, Oklahoma; one daughter, JoAnn Ford of Skiatook, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Bob Thomas; one grandson, Kenny Thomas; one brother, Roy Epley and two sisters, Icle Patton and Irene Dickerson. Memorial contributions may be made to the memorial fund of choice. Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 19, 2000 at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Reverend Carl Neal presiding under the direction of Hunsaker-Wooten Funeral Home of Fairfax, Oklahoma.

LENARD R. STUBBS
April 18, 2000 - Funeral services for Lenard Ray Stubbs, 77, were held Wednesday, April 19, at the First Nazarene Church in Henryetta, Oklahoma, with burial in the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Mr. Stubbs was born May 3, 1922 at Stuart, Oklahoma the son of Hugh Ernest and Ella Lucille (Irvin) Stubbs and died April 15, 2000 in St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lenard was a lifelong resident of Henryetta where he attended school before joining the United States Air Force in 1941, serving until 1947. January 27, 1950 in Henryetta he was married to Miss Hellen Counterman who survives at the home. He worked for Pittsburgh Plate Glass for eighteen years and started a career in the insurance business in 1957, owning and operating the Lenard Stubbs Insurance Agency for forty-three years. Mr. Stubbs was very involved in the Henryetta community where he was a member of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce and past member of the Henryetta School Board. He was always an integral part of the First Nazarene Church, teaching Sunday School, senior and youth ministries and served as past Church treasurer. He had a special place in his heart for Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for thirty-three years, on the Foundation Board and was past Chairman of the Finance Committee. He was an avid S.N.U. sports fan and was a member of the Benchwarmers. The family requests memorials be made to the Lenard R. Stubbs Scholarship Fund at Southern Nazarene University, 6729 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma 73008. Survivors in addition to his wife, Helen are: a son, Johnny and his wife, Sharon Stubbs, a daughter, Claudine and husband Larry Henry, all of Bethany; a brother, W.R. "Dick" and wife Hazel Stubbs and a sister Mildred McCaslin all of Henryetta; grandchildren John and Lindsey Stubbs, Sarah Stubbs, Jenna Stubbs and Logan Henry. He was preceded in death by sisters, Ester Mae Stubbs and Edna Smith and brothers, Ernest Byron Stubbs and Everett Walter Stubbs. OCNS – April 14, 2000 – Funeral services will be Monday at 3:00 p.m., at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Eufaula, Oklahoma, for David “Poon” Tincher, 66, former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, who died April 12. The Reverend Charles Johnson will officiate and burial will be at Greenwood, Cemetery in Eufaula. Mr. Tincher was born July 10, 1933 at Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Dave and Bessie May (Sims) Tincher and was a retired oil field driller. He is survived by Shirley Branch, his companion of twelve years, of the home in Eufaula, a daughter and son-in-law, Rashell and Jim Keene of Clarksville, Arkansas; two step-daughters and spouses, Sonya and Bob Sunday and Laura and Scott Hart, all of Eufaula; a step-son, Frank Yost of Stigler, Oklahoma; a sister and brother-in-law Mickie and John Plumleigh of Wynona, Oklahoma and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, April 16. April 14, 2000 - Norma Truan Shoulders, 75 year old Vinita resident, passed away Tuesday evening, April 11, 2000, at Craig General Hospital. A firecracker from the start, Norma was born on July 4, 1924 in Henryetta. Oklahoma to R T. "Red" and Leova Holmes. She grew up in Henryetta as her father owned the Chevrolet dealership there for 51 years. Petite with red hair, Norma has been a familiar resident in her adopted hometown of Vinita since 1985. Many know her as a church secretary and organist in Vinita churches or as a faithful volunteer, constantly working

LAWANDA V. "WINNIE" PACE
OCNS – April 1, 2000 – Funeral services will be Monday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, for Winnie Pace, 72, who passed away March 30, at the Pawhuska Hospital following a prolonged illness. Winnie was born November 29, 1927 in Newby, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jessie B. and Mattie Lee (Harris) Jones and, on August 18, 1946 in Magdalena, New Mexico, married Walter H. “Dub” Pace, Jr. who preceded her in death. The couple moved to Pawhuska in 1958. Winnie was formerly employed at The Packing House Market, as a secretary to The Osage County Election Board and operated a telephone answering service, but most of all she was a housewife and mother, before failing health forced her retirement. A family member, referring to her long illness, was quoted as saying, “she fought a good fight and won”. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are her children: Beva and her husband, Ronnie Cummings of Chandler, Oklahoma; Rhonda and her husband, Fred Gordineer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Linda and her husband, David Reiger of Dewey, Oklahoma; Bill Pace of Chandler; Pat Pace of Montrose, Colorado; Wally and Krissy Pace of Pawhuska and Beth Ann Pace of Barnsdall, Oklahoma; a sister, Oleta Plummer of Fairfax, Oklahoma; Also her grandchildren: Sundance Burgess, Kala Burgess, Jarryd Smith, Carla Reiger, Damon Pace, Sterling Pace, Abby Pace, Tanner Pace, Spencer Pace, Calvin Cummings, Connie Blanchard, Todd Reiger and Tammy Haack; And her great grandchildren; Crystal Burgess, Coltin Burgess, Danica Burgess, J.R. Burgess, Christopher Burgess, Bailee Rae Smith, Bradyn John Smith, Courtney Cummings, Justin Faitz, Austin Reiger and Kelsi Haack. And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

GAYE LYNN JAMES
OCNS – April 1, 2000 – Funeral services will be held Monday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m., in the First Baptist Church in Skiatook, Oklahoma, for Gaye Lynn James, 44, who died Thursday afternoon west of Skiatook from injuries received in an automobile accident. Gaye was born November 7, 1955 to Kenneth Dale and Joyce Arlene (Green) Cooper in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and received her education in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kansas City, Missouri and St. Louis, Missouri, completing her education in Moberly, Missouri in 1974. She married Scott James who preceded her in death.
Gaye was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for eleven years, was in the building business with her father and was co-owner of the Cherokee Heritage Apartments. Survivors include her two children: Crystal Horton and husband, Nolan; and Brandon James; her husband, David Gourd; her parents, Kenneth and Joyce Cooper; one brother, Gary Cooper; one grandchild, Chenlar Horton and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Scott James, she was preceded in death by her grandparents. Mr. Jerald Freeman will officiate at the services under the direction of Sein-Shelton Funeral Home of Skiatook. Casket escorts will be Harley Perigo, Eric Horton, Billy Herring, David Juby, Ronnie Allen and Matt Loud. Music will be performed by Gaye Beatt and family in addition to some taped favorites of Gaye’s. Following the services interment will be in the Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook.

FRANCIS MARION JECH
OCNS – March 30, 2000 – Francis Marion Jech, 74, was born January 30, 1926 in Okarche, Oklahoma, the son of Henry Paul and Lucinda Elizabeth (Grimes) Jech and passed away March 29, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, following an extended illness. The Jech family moved from Okarche to Kingfisher, Oklahoma and later to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Francis and Mary Wise Conner were married April 15, 1973 in Sedan, Kansas and made their home in Pawhuska. Francis attended the Pawhuska School System and during his senior year in 1945, he entered the United States Army, serving in World War II, before returning to Pawhuska where he was a partner with his brother, Glen in custom farming. He will be remembered for his old stories and his great cooking ability. Survivors in addition to his wife, Mary of the home are: two daughters, Lavon and her husband John Newell of Bixby, Oklahoma and Theresa and her husband, Chuck Maxwell; a son, Stewart and his wife, Miranda Conner; a brother, Glen and his wife, Vivian Jech; a sister, Janet and her husband, Jerry Loftis all of Pawhuska; grandchildren, Natalie and husband Dr. Hector Ferrer of Bixby; Michael, Miranda and Joseph Conner; Ashton Bowman and Clayton Maxwell all of Pawhuska; great grandchildren, Daniel and Melissa Ferrer of Bixby and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 1, in The Fist Christian Church in Pawhuska with the Reverend Ronald Eldridge officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

MOLLY CORDRAY STUBBS
OCNS – March 30, 2000 – Molly Cordray Stubbs left this life March 28, 2000 to be with God where “….the lame shall walk …” Molly was the fourth daughter of Dave and Orpha (Rigsby) Cordray and the wife of Jack Stubbs. She was born on the Fite place southwest of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, near the Woodall community on April 24, 1919. Her family moved in 1921 to Pawhuska, Oklahoma where she lived most of her life until 1989 when she went to Tahlequah to make her home with her daughter. Molly and Jack Stubbs were married April 24, 1937 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Molly said she wanted to be remembered as a woman who made a difference. She dropped out of high school at Nelagoney, Oklahoma, to marry and have two children but later she went back to high school, graduated and attended Northeastern State University. She was a Democrat woman who helped Oklahoma Democrat women affiliate with the National Federation of Democrat Women in an effort to make Oklahoma and her country continue to be the best place to live. She was a co-founder and first President of the first Indian Democrat Women’s organization in America and served many times as a delegate to Democrat and Democrat Women’s conventions. Molly was one of the founders of Civil Defense in Oklahoma. She was instrumental in the establishment of current Cherokee Nation programs including educational, housing, medical and social services when her cousins won the first lawsuit against the United States to attain monies not properly or fairly paid for the Cherokee Strip. Molly was always there for her neighbors…and that included everyone who needed help, encouragement or just someone to listen became known to her. Molly was a lifelong Christian. She didn’t just go to church on Sunday and sing, as she loved to do…she was there for her neighbor in need. She saw the need and did something about it. As a supreme compliment to Molly, she was a very good mother, always there to encourage or scold as needed to be. She will be sorely missed bnut as she said, “I’m going to Heaven to be with Jesus and he promised…”the lame shall walk.” She has been bedfast since 1989. Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Stubbs who died January 4, 1997, her parents; a sister, Orpha who died in 1912 as an infant, her oldest sister, Ethel Cordray Fites of Hominy, Oklahoma, who died in 1989, her sister, Cinda who died in 1999; her brother, Charles “Chub” who died in 1998 and a great-grandson, John Corbin Colburn who went to be an angel in 1986. Molly is survived by her daughter, Jackye Colburn of Tahlequah; a son, Bob Stubbs of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Jack Colburn and Johnna Snyder of Tahlequah; John Colburn of Westville, Oklahoma; Robyn Stubbs of Ft. Gibson and David Stubbs of Tahlequah; five great grandchildren, Justin and Jake Colburn, Jarrick and Jyssica Snyder all of Tahlequah and Jane Courtney Colburn of Westville. She is also survived by a sister, Cora Cordray Clements of Hominy and a brother, Sebe Cordray of Cleveland, Oklahoma; seven ne3phews and three nieces. Services and burial in the Pawhuska Cemetery were Thursday, March 30, with Sonny McCartney and Johnson Funeral Home officiating.

March 28, 2000 - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, for Arlen "Lo-De" Deckard, 24, grandson of Pawhuska City Councilman A.R. Deckard, who died March 25, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born September 25, 1975 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, he was employed at the time of his death in the warehouse for Union Public Schools in Tulsa. Survivors include a five year old daughter, Christina Rose Deckard, his mother, Rose Peace, father, Rick Deckard; sister, Lacey Deckard; grandparents, Dale and Ruth Duncan of Dewey, Oklahoma, June Fourkiller and A.R. (Scrappie) Deckard both of Pawhuska; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Burial will be in the Floral Haven Memorial Garden in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Directors.

JAMES WAYNE GARRETT
March 25, 2000 - James Wayne Garrett, 72, native area resident, died at 7:40 a.m., Thursday, March 23, at his family residence in Craig, Colorado, following an extended illness. Graveside services were held Saturday in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma with the Reverend Mike McDougan officiating. Committal prayers and interment were directed by The Arnold Moore-Barnsdall Funeral Service. Mr. Garrett was born Aug. 23, 1927 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, to George Henry and Rose Modine (Wooten) Garrett. He was reared and received his early education in Pawhuska and was graduated in 1944 from Hominy High School. He was an outstanding athlete and was offered a basketball scholarship with the 0klahoma A&M (now Oklahoma State University) College. He was an all-state champion basketball player. Wayne enlisted in the United States Army from which he received an honorable discharge. He returned to Osage County and began his longtime interest in rodeo participation and working with horses for over 20 years. He became active as a race horse trainer and was active at the larger race tracks. He won numerous trophies and awards for his bulldogging and calf roping and was the owner of Peter John, a champion racing horse A.Q.H.A. Wayne was well respected by many cowboys for his fairness and compassion for others. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jay Smith and Pam of San Angelo, Texas; a grandson; a brother, Orbin H. Garrett of rural Pawhuska; four sisters, Loretta Floyd Milligan and Lerie Charlene (Garrett) Main both of Bartlesville, Mrs. R.B. "Buddy" Hartness of Pawhuska and Nomah Hawk Of Bentonville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

GERALD JACK LEDINGTON
March 25, 2000 - Funeral services for Mr. Gerald Jack Ledington, 72, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, who died Thursday, March 16, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, were held Monday, March 20, in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel, Bartlesville. The Reverend Ronald H. Eldridge of the First Christian Church in Pawhuska officiated and interment followed in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts included Lorne Shepherd, Bill McClintock, Wayne Jackson, Wayne Middleton, Carl Morris, Marvin Thurman, and Ronald Afdahl. Mr. Ledington was born on January 24, 1928 to Harry Clarence and Clara Belle (Troutman) Ledington at Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where he grew up and received his education graduating from Pawhuska High School in 1945. He worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from March of 1946 until September of 1947. He attended Oklahoma A & M College (now Oklahoma State University) at Stillwater where he graduated in 1951 with a Business degree in Accounting and he later became a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Ledington began his employment with Phillips Petroleum Company and was an accounting supervisor in the Comptrollers and Chemical Departments until his retirement in 1985 after thirty-five years of service. He made his home in Pawhuska until moving to the Bartlesville area in 1968. He was a resident member with a life long continued association and support for the First Christian Church in Pawhuska and was a member of the Limestone Lion's Club, (Bartlesville) in which he had served the offices of secretary and president, and also served on state boards with the Lions. He was also a member of the Bartlesville Genealogy Society, and a forty-five year member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mr Ledington had no immediate survivors. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harry R. Ledington, and one sister, Marguerite A. Ledington. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the Oklahoma Lion's Service Foundation, 413 NW 10th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73107.

BILLY E. HUNT
March 23, 2000-Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, at 1:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska for Billy E. Hunt, 40, of Hominy, who passed away March 22, 2000 in the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Billy was born March 5, 1960 in Pawhuska, the son of Edward Elmer and Nellie Louise (Hull) Hunt. He was a kind, gentle hearted and loving father, son, brother and friend to all those around him or who knew him. His ministry in this life was the way he touched others with his smile, words of encouragement and his strength. Billy had many hobbies such as painting, fishing and once was an avid hunter. He loved life and was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors are a son, Billy Bear Hunt of Hominy, Oklahoma; his father, Edward Elmer Hunt of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; four brothers, W.C. Hunt and Elmer Hunt both of Stroud, Oklahoma; Jimmy Hunt of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Rocky Hunt of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Burial will be in The Nelagoney, Oklahoma Cemetery with Reverend Wayne Brown officiating under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Directors.

JUNE COLE ABBOTT
March 23, 2000-Graveside services will be conducted Friday, March 24, at 2:00 p.m. in A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery in Hominy, Oklahoma, with family members officiating, for June R. Cole Abbott, 90, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma who passed away March 21, in The Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Born June 1, 1909 in Blackburn, Oklahoma the daughter of George W. and Carlie (Riddle) Rowden, June was married on September 18, 1934 to Cleve H. Cole who preceded her in death December 12, 1966. August 7, 1967 June married James “Jim” Abbott and he preceded her in death December 12, 1989. Survivors in addition to numerous relatives and friends include one sister, Artie M. Brown of Ponca City, Oklahoma and a number of nieces and nephews including: Martha Conley Brown and Jim D. Conley both of Pawhuska, Benny B. Conley of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Sherman F. Brown of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Carl D. Conley of Clearwater, Texas; Dick L. Conley of Carthege, Missouri; Helen Brown Wright of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Patty Brown Cluck of Loyalton, California; and Max J. Wilson of Odessa, Texas.

RAY A. DAVIS
March 20, 2000-Ray A. Davis, 97, former Pawhuska resident and businessman passed away at his home in Hot Springs, Arkansas, March 17, 2000 An original Rolee of the Cherokee Indian Tribe, Ray was born March 6, 1903 in Nowata County, Oklahoma, the son of James and Emma (Stevans) Davis. He was an owner/trainer of Thoroughbred horses and raced a small stable at Oaklawn Park in Arkansas from 1947 until he retired in 1993 at the age of ninety. Surviving are his wife of fifty-nine years, Julia Davis of the home in Hot Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Ray and Barbara Davis of Hot Springs, Arkansas; three sisters, Estar King of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Goldie Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Marie Copenhaver of California; a brother, Jesse Davis of Tulsa; two granddaughters, Amanda and Jennifer of Hot Springs and many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Laura Duncan and Allie Roberts. Services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 10:00 a.m., in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with the Reverend Raymond Redcorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Pawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

EDNA MAE POTTER
March 20, 2000 - Edna Mae Potter, longtime Pawhuska resident passed away unexpectedly March 17, 2000. Born October 7, 1912 in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to George and Mary Frances (Simpson) Carter, Edna married A.E. Potter January 2, 1940 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where they made their home. Mrs. Potter was a member of The Baptist Church and the Cherokee Indian Tribe Survivors in addition to her husband, A.E. Potter of the home are two sons, Gary Potter of the home and Aubrey Potter of Kearney, Missouri; a sister, Pearl Christenson of Lindsborg, Kansas; a brother, George Carter of San Angelo, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2000 at 2:00 p.m., in The Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with burial to follow in the PPawhuska Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

DOROTHY HARTNESS
March 8, 2000 – Graveside services for Dorothy Helen Hartness, 92, longtime Pawhuska resident, will be held Thursday, March 9, 2000 at the Pawhuska Cemetery Dorothy was born February 7, 1908 in Grove, Oklahoma, one of eleven children born to John and Dossie (Betten) Davis and later moved with her family to Barnsdall, Oklahoma where she attended school. She died Monday, March 6, 2000 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. November 29, 1924 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Dorothy married Ezra Hartness who preceded her in death in 1975. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and was active for many years in her church community. She was known throughout the area for her cooking and quilting talents and was proud of her Seneca-Cayuga heritage. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Whited, a son Don Hartness and grandchildren, Jackie Milleson Poole and Richard Whited. Survivors include three sons, R.B. (Buddy) Hartness and Tim Hartness of Pawhuska and Owen Hartness of Peru, Kansas; two daughters, Mrs. James (Dossie) Milleson of Pawhuska, Mrs. H.A. (Barbara) Robinson of Wynona, Oklahoma; two brothers, John Davis of Pittsburgh, Kansas and Louis (Red) Davis of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sisters, Rosalie Tanner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jeannie Morgan of Wynona, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Albert (Judy) Taylor of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
