JEAN LOUISE DAWSON
December 22, 2000 - Jean Louise Dawson, 73, passed away December 20, 2000 in the Pawhuska Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Dawson was born November 26, 1927 in Vancouver, Washington, to John Allen and on April 6, 1948, married Ralph S. Dawson in Bend, Oregon. They have been long-time residents of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where Jean was a homemaker and mother. Survivors include: her husband, Ralph, of the home in Pawhuska; two daughters, Sharon Kay Birdwell of Beaver, Oklahoma and Deborah Sue Neel of Pawhuska; two sons, Michael John Dawson and Herbert Kevin Dawson, both of Pawhuska; one brother, John C. Allen of Seattle, Washington; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. No services are planned.

CHARLES A. TRAMMEL
December 10, 2000 - Charles A. Trammel, 50, passed away December 7, at his home in Okesa, Oklahoma. Charles was born August 21, 1950 to James Leonard and Louise C. (Warner) Trammel in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and was a lifelong resident of the Okesa area. He had been a minister and a mechanic. Survivors include: two sons, Christopher A. Trammel of Sperry, Oklahoma, and Terry L. Trammel and wife, Cyndi, of Nowata, Oklahoma; his mother, Louise Trammel of Okesa; three brothers, Edward H. Trammel of Okesa, and James Trammel and Garry Trammel both of Bartlesville; two grandchildren, Hallie Trammel and Christopher Trammel, Jr., and a host of other family and friends. Charles was predeceased by his father, James Leonard Trammel and a sister, Anna Christian. Graveside services were held in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Tim Prater of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pawhuska officiating. Johnson Funeral Director's were in charge of arrangements.

LOUIS HENRY “SONNY” CUNNINGHAM
Louis Henry “Sonny” Cunningham, 63, a life-long resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away at his home December 3, 2000. Rosary will be recited at the Cunningham family home in Indian Camp, Pawhuska, at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 5, and Traditional Indian services will be held at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, with Mongrain Lookout officiating. Sonny was born in Pawhuska on April 5, 1937, the son of Henry and Lillie (Bighorse) Cunningham. He attended Pawhuska schools, was a member of the Osage Tribe of Indians, a life-long member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was employed as the CHR Director at the Osage Indian Agency for over twenty years. Sonny served as a thirty year member of the Five Man Board at the Pawhuska Indian Village, was a member of the Pawhuska War Dance Committee, former Drum Keeper and Advisor to the War Dance Committee. He believed in the Indian Tradition and kept his home open to many families through the years. Survivors include a brother, Fred Cunningham of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three sisters, Catherine Wilson and Marion Cass, both of Pawhuska, Addie Walker of Bartlesville and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Sonny was predeceased by two brothers, Alvin “Jack” Cunningham and Milton Cunningham; and two sisters, Tennessee Cunningham and Mae Worthington. Sonny will lie in state at the Cunningham family home in Indian Camp until service time, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with Father Leonard Higgisn officiating. Interment will follow in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Directors, Pawhuska, are in charge of arrangements.

JAMES ALBERT CLEMENTS
November 4, 2000 – Mr. James Albert “Jim” Clements, 70, resident of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, died Friday, November 3, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 6, at the First Assembly of God Church in Barnsdall with Pastor Phillip Clements and Don Clements officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home, Barnsdall. A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mr. Clements may do so to: Bluestem Regional Medical Development Foundation, 3500 S.E. Frank Phillips Blvd., Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006. Mr. Clements was born march 21, 1930 at Maud, Oklahoma to George W. and Nona (Redwine) Clements and was raised and educated in the Maud area, graduating high school at Concord, California in 1947. He was employed on a horse ranch for a time and then was employed with Shell Oil Company for six years. He enrolled in college at Wichita, Kansas, studying criminal justice. He served as a police officer in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Wichita, Kansas, Los Angeles, California and Redondo Beach California; and in later years was employed as a salesman and moved to Barnsdall in 1994. Mr. Clements is survived by his mother, Nona Clements of Barnsdall; two daughters, Connie Puckett of Brighton, Tennessee, and Leesa Rains of Memphis, Tennessee; five brothers, Ken Clements of Marysville, California; Charles Clements of LaGrange, Georgia; Don Clements of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and David Clements and Phil Clements both of Barnsdall; one sister, Violet Blevins of Lubbock, Texas; one grandson, David Rains of Memphis, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.

HAROLD LEE THOMAS
November 4, 2000 – Mr. Harold Lee Thomas, 64, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died at 3:05 p.m., Thursday, November 2, at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, at the First Assembly of God Church, Ninth and Dewey Streets, Bartlesville, with Pastor Billy R. Brummett officiating. Full military rites at the graveside will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post #105. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home. Casket escorts will include Paul Cox, Paul Posch, Bob Peck, Tom Iglehart, Chuck Ellis and Walter Ridinger. A memorial in Mr. Thomas’ memory has been established to the Heart Fund c/o Susie Tallent, WestStar Bank, P.O. Box 999, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 74005. Mr. Thomas was born June 20, 1936 at Valentine, Nebraska, where he grew up and received his education before entering the U.S. Air Force in 1954. He was married to Nancy Sue Billington on August 10, 1955 at Custer, South Dakota, and moved to Bartlesville in 1959 following his Honorable Discharge from the service. He was employed for twenty years with National Zinc Company in Bartlesville. Mr. Thomas also opened and operated the Good Times Club, Bartlesville Salvage and Angel’s Café. Survivors include, his wife, Sue, one daughter, Angel Thomas; three sons, Mitchell Thomas, Mark Thomas and James Thomas all of Bartlesville; one brother, Clayton Thomas of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Millie Bankston of Sacramento, California and nine grandchildren. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary; two brothers, Harry and Lloyd; and three sons, Edward, Eugene and Michael.

RUBY M. WHILES
November 1, 2000 – Ruby M. Whiles, 80, longtime resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away in her home, Sunday, October 29, following an extended illness. Ruby was born May 5, 1920, in Osage County, Oklahoma to Charles A. and Ellie (Maxwell) Cass and married Henry C. Whiles November 9, 1942, in Winfield, Kansas. They owned the City Laundry in Pawhuska from 1955 to 1975. Ruby was retired from the Pawhuska School System where she served as the cafeteria manager and cook for many years. She enjoyed shopping and cooking and dearly loved her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors in addition to her husband, Henry, of the home include: six grandchildren, Mark McVey and wife, Joanie, of Perkins, Oklahoma; Lou Sellers and husband, Ted, of Pawhuska; Rhonda Wilson and husband, Larry, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Clay McVey and wife, Jill of Cushing, Oklahoma; Sandra Dobbs of Henrietta, Oklahoma, and Clara Wilson of Locust Grove; ten great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Additional information provided by Ruby’s niece, Cynthia Cass Pradmore - Our dear Aunt Ruby Myrtle Cass Whiles was the daughter of the Late sheriff of Osage County, Oklahoma, (from 1943-1955) Charles A Cass and Ellie L. Maxwell. I would like to share with you that she was a wonderful Aunt, wife, grandmother, mother, sister and friend to many in the Osage County area. She will be greatly missed by so many. Ruby was the Aunt of Daniel Cass, Edna Cass Conley, LeRoy Newton Cass, Charlotte Cass, Jim Maxwell Cass, Cynthia Cass Pradmore, Lila Cass Dooling and the late Charles "Chock" Cass. She was also the Aunt of Pete Cass, Michael Dean Cass, Kathryn Cass, Mary Cass, Pat Cass Carr, Stephanie Volker, Brent Volker. No words could ever express the fullness of this Lady. She was the family strength to us all...and she will be deeply missed. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister and her daughter, Lois Ann Wilson. Services were held Wednesday, November 1, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Ronald Eldridge of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery and Ralston, Oklahoma with Johnson Funeral Director’s in charge of arrangements.

RANDY LEE CAREY
October 26, 2000 – Former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, Randy Lee Carey, 52, passed away Friday, October 20, in St. George, Utah, following a heart attack. Randy was born in Pawhuska on July 4, 1948 to Francis and Billie (Parrott) Carey and later moved to Utah where he was employed at Thrifty Car Sales in St. George and Riverdale, Utah, as Service Advisor, a title that does not adequately describe his many roles at Thrifty, but the title “Randy” doesn’t read well on business cards. He loved music and was an accomplished drummer in his early years. He passed his love of music on to his son. Randy also enjoyed BMX racing and was a three time state champion. The family would like to express their gratitude to Jeanette and Bill Hudson for their concern and support during this difficult time. Randy leaves behind: his son, Eli Blackhawk Carey of Ogden, Utah; his step-mother, Billie Olmstead Carey of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; his brothers, Gene Carey of Lewisville, Texas and Phil Carey of Bartlesville; his sisters, Robin McDonald of Bartlesville and Donna McWilliams and Renee Nichols, both of Oklahoma City; his buddy, Luger and many great friends. Randy is now reunited with his father, Francis Carey and his mother, Billie Parrott Carey. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 27, at 1:30 p.m., at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th St., Ogden, Utah where friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday and also on Friday one hour prior to services. Randy’s final resting place will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery, where graveside services will be held on Monday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. “Until we meet again, Randy, pleasant journey. We love you and will miss you.

ROSA LEE FRANKLIN
October 23, 2000 - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska, Oklahoma for Rosa Lee Franklin, 92, who passed away Sunday, October 22, in the Cleveland (Oklahoma) Area Hospital. Mrs. Franklin was born May 25, 1908 in Cartersville, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. and Mary J. (Davis) Sumner and married Willie Lawrence Smith April 20, 1928. The couple had one son, Willie Paul Smith, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mr. Smith died March 16, 1961, and on November 14, 1967, Rosa married Kenneth J. Franklin who predeceased her March 28, 1987. Rosa was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bixby, Oklahoma, and attended the Wynona (Oklahoma) Baptist Church, where she kept the Church Nursery for several years. Survivors in addition to her son, Willie, are: a grandson, Lance Smith of Wynona; a granddaughter, Paula Skidmore of Tulsa; three step-children, Roy Franklin of Pawhuska; Eva Gibble of Tulsa, and Joyce Wagoner of Nash, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Interment will be in the Bixby, Oklahoma Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

FANNY LOU SNIVELY
October 19, 2000 - Funeral services for Fanny Lou Snively, 63, lifelong resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Leonard Higgins of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Fanny was born September 24, 1937, in Pawhuska, the daughter of William Franklin and Ruby Lucille (Reed) Moore, Sr. and passed away Tuesday, October 17, at her home. She graduated from Pawhuska High School with the Class of 1955. Fanny and James W. "Jim" Snively, Jr., were married August 23, 1955, in Cheyenne, Wyoming and made their home in Pawhuska. Fanny was the City Utilities Manager for the City of Pawhuska until ill health forced her to retire in November of 1998. She devoted her spare time to her family. Survivors in addition to her husband, Jim, of the home in Pawhuska are: two sons and daughters-in-law, James W. "Jimbo" and Leslie Snively III of Pawhuska, and John and Molly Snively of Skiatook, Oklahoma; three brothers and sisters-in-law: W.. "Bill" and Barbara Moore, Jr., of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Robert and Teresa Moore of Pawhuska; and George F. and Glenda Moore of Grapevine, Texas; four grand children: Amy and Amanda Snively of Skiatook and Thad and Luke Ikenberry of Pawhuska, and a host of other relatives and friends. Burial will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

OLLIE SUSAN WORKMON RIDER
October 17, 2000 - Ollie Rider, 101, former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and mother of Academy Award winner, Ben Johnson, Jr., passed away October 16, in Mesa, Arizona. Ollie was born May 20, 1899 in Sac River, Missouri, the daughter of John and Cynthia Myriah (Crane) Workmon. She married Fredie Fay Rider September 4, 1940 in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death May 16, 1970. Survivors include two grandsons; Ben Miller of Queen Creek, Arizona and John Miller and wife, Barbara of Cave Creek, Arizona; a granddaughter, Ann Whitehorn and husband, Doug of Pawhuska; nine great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Gertie Epps. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rider was predeceased by two brothers, two sisters, a daughter, Mary Ann Miller, a son, Ben (Son) Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Carol and a great-great granddaughter, Madison Miller. Services will be held Friday, October 20, at 2:00 p.m. in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with Jon Tucker officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

JOSHUA REED BLACKBIRD MATHES
October 13, 2000 – Joshua Reed Blackbird Mathes, 16, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly October 10, in The Pawhuska Hospital. He was born March 11, 1984 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the son of Kellie Mathes. Joshua was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Osage Indian Tribe and was a student in Pawhuska High School. He made his home with his grandparents Delores “Dee” and the late Bill Mathes, Sr.. Survivors are: his mother, Kellie Mathes Hooper of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his grandmother, Dee Mathes of the home; a brother John Lindy Hooper and a sister Korie Jo Hooper, both of Midwest City; an aunt, Sandy Mathes Ray of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; an uncle, Bill Mathes, Jr., of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two great aunts, Katherine Adkisson of Tulsa and Thelma Tucker of Bartlesville; and a host of other relatives and friends. Rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, in the Mathes home, 2113 Bobo Avenue, Pawhuska. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, in The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pawhuska with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. RUBY LUCILLE MOORE
October 11, 2000 - Ruby Lucille Moore, 89, passed away October 9, in the Pawhuska Nursing Home. Ruby was born May 2, 1911 in Evansville, Arkansas, the daughter of Delbert DeeWitt and Bethana Ellen (Whelchel) Reed. October 1, 1929 she married W.F. "Frank" Moore in Wewoka, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death April 3, 1985. A pioneer telephone operator, housewife and avid fisherwoman, Lucille was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Pythian Sisters. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Fanny and Jim Snively, Jr. of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; three sons and daughters-in-law, W.F. "Bill" and Barbara Moore, Jr., of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Robert H. and Teresa Moore of Pawhuska; George E. and Glenda Moore of Grapevine, Texas; a brother, L.R. "Tope" Reed of Wakita, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Friday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Hill officiating. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

THOMAS S. HILL
October 11, 2000 - Thomas S. Hill, 81, passed away October 9, 2000 in the Harris Methodist Hospital H.E.B., Bedford, Texas. Tommy was born May 26, 1919 in Stoneville, North Carolina to Thomas Jackson and Lottie (Snead) Hill. On September 13, 1949 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, he married the former Villa Tinker who preceded him in death May 17, 1996. Tommy was a retired aircraft mechanic, serving with the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Pawhuska Elks Lodge and was an avid fisherman. Survivors include: a sister and brother-in-law, Lucinda and Howard Hyler of Eden, North Carolina; two half sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean and Homer Young and Francis Fulton, all of Eden, North Carolina; three half brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon and Shirley Hill, Ronald and Faye Hill and Jason and Jodie Hill, all of Eden, North Carolina; special friends, the Lloyd Family of Hurst, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends. Rosary will be held Thursday, October 12, at 7:00 p.m., in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Funeral Mass will be Friday, October 13, at 10:00 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Interment will be in The Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors. Graveside military services will be provided by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

BRANDOLYN RYAN "BRANDI" BRANCH
October 11, 2000 - Brandi Branch, 20, passed away October 8, in The Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born March 1, 1980 in Claremore, Oklahoma, the daughter of Randal Kevin and Tammy (Oberly) Branch and graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs, where she was captain of her high school dance team. She attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, for one year where she was captain of the NSU majestics Team. She was a member of the Osage Indian Tribe. Survivors are her mother, Tammy Branch of the home in Sand Springs; her father, Randal Kevin Branch of Sand Springs; a sister, Holly Ann Branch of the home; her maternal grandmother, Bobbye Jean Oberly of Ponca City, Oklahoma; her paternal grandmother, LaWanda June Geess of Bixby, Oklahoma; her paternal grandfather, Oscar Robert Branch of Texas; an aunt, Sarah Oberly of Ponca City; an uncle, John Oberly of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; an aunt and uncle, Becky and Douglas Branch of Pawhuska, a cousin, Jennifer Oberly Warmington of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held October 11, in The Wakon Iron Community Building, with burial in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

NINA RUTH GRANT
October 11, 2000 - Nina Ruth Grant, 91, former resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, October 6, in Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Nina was born November 7, 1908 in Hassan Township, Minnesota, the daughter of William R. and Effie (White) Hawkins. She and George C. Grant were married in Grant County, South Dakota in June of 1940 and in 1952 they moved to Pawhuska where George worked at "the Old Skelly Lab". He preceded her in death July 27, 1984. Nina was a member of the Episcopal Church and a retired elementary school teacher. Survivors are: three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon G. and Marit Soldal Grant of Bartlesville; John and Ruth Ann Blackstock Grant of Newport Beach, California and Bill and Kay Hamilton Grant of Santa Fe, New Mexico; one brother, Walter Hawkins of St. Michaels, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Laura Grant Feldis and husband, Kevin; Derek Grant, Gregory Grant and Kari-Anne Grant; one great-grandchild, Kadin Grant Feldis and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held October 10, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska with the Reverend Sharon Watkins officiating. Interment was in the Pawhuska City Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to The Desciples of Christ Church, 5800 Douglas Lane, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006; The Pawhuska Public Library or St. John's Episcopal Church, Hassan, Minnesota.

RUIE EVELYN WALLET
September 28, 2000 – Ruie Evelyn Wallet, 87, longtime Pawhuska, Oklahoma, resident passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2000 in The Pawhuska Hospital. Ruie was born November 17, 1912 in Williams, Oklahoma to Amos D. and Ether Mae (Victor) Howard and moved with her family to Pawhuska in 1946. May 8, 1958, she married Lavon H. Wallet in Yuma, Arizona and they moved to Brawley, California where he was in the construction business. In 1976, the Wallets returned to Pawhuska to make their home. Lavon preceded her in death on March 20, 1985. Ruie was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pawhuska.
Surviving are: a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tim Hartness of Pawhuska; a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sharon Talbot of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two step-daughters, Annette Horn of Pawhuska and Betty Turner of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; a sister, Frances Paolucci of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Ruie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Louie Howard, J.D. Howard and Robert Howard; and a sister, Anna Mae Howard. Graveside services were held Thursday, September 28, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Dr. Larry Wallace officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

STELLA MAE DILLEY
September 28, 2000 – Stella Mae Dilley, 71, longtime resident of Wynona, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, September 25, in the Pawhuska Hospital. Stella was born January 21, 1929 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to J.M. and Bertha (Parker) Garrison and in 1959 married Shireld Dilley in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was the owner/waitress of Stella’s Drive-In in Wynona for many years. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Fellowship Church in Wynona. Survivors in addition to her husband, Shireld of the home in Wynona are: a son, Rick Dilley of Wynona; two daughters, Brenda Lott of Wynona and Melva Rowe of Wagoner, Oklahoma; a brother, Earl Garrison and two sisters, Dee Collins and Pat Hurd, all of Wynona; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Linda Kay Thomas; four brothers, Lee Garrison, Leman Garrison, Amos Garrison and Raymond Garrison; and a sister, Lola Hurd. Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 27, in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Reverend Raymond Collins officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

JAMES THOMAS CLEM, SR.
September 20, 2000 – Mr. James Thomas Clem, Sr., 73, resident of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, died at 5:35 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2000 in the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Services for Mr. Clem will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, in the Ethel Reece Cemetery with Pastor Barry Gott of the House of Fellowship Church officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Webster-Schrack American Legion Post #227 of Barnsdall. Services and interment will be under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home-Barnsdall. Mr. Clem was born February 26, 1927 at Barnsdall to James Andrew and Emma Dean (Hayes) Clem. He was raised and received his education in Barnsdall and entered the U.S. Army on April 17, 1945 and was honorably discharged December 12, 1945. He reenlisted on the following December 13, 1945 and was again honorably discharged January 12, 1947. Following his military services Mr. Clem returned to Barnsdall and completed his high school education, graduating in 1947. He was married to LaDonna Ruth Woods in 1958 at Miami, Oklahoma and the couple made their home in various locations while Mr. Clem was active in pipeline work. Survivors include one son, James Thomas “Tommy” Clem II of Barnsdall; three daughters, Benna Clem of Tampa, Florida, Lisa Reagan of Bartlesville and Tommy Lynn Clem of Colorado; six grandchildren; one great grandchild and one aunt, Mary Hayes of Barnsdall. Mr. Clem was preceded in death by his parents.

MALENA ROSE YATES
September 15, 2000 – Pawhuska resident, Malena Rose Yates, 21, passed away Friday, September 15, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident east of SH 99 on Nelagoney Road, east of Pawhuska. Malena was born June 12, 1979, to Paul E. and Cheryl R. (Hill) Yates, Jr., in Lawton, Oklahoma. She was an Intake Specialist for the Osage Nation Tribal TANIF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Indian Families) program. Surviving are: her parents, Paul E. Yates, Jr., of Pawhuska, and Cheryl R. Yates of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her sister, Alicia Marie Yates and her paternal grandmother, Eva Yates both of Pawhuska; her maternal grandmother, Freda Mitchell of Sacramento, California; her maternal step-grandmother, Gwen Hill of Sisseton, South Dakota; aunts and uncles, Everett and Marian Waller of Hominy, Oklahoma; James and Shelley Yates of Nelagoney, Oklahoma; Deborah Hair of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Barbara Dale of Pawhuska; Richard A. Hill of Dallas, Texas; Luana R. Hill and Kenton M. Johnson, both of Sacramento; Darold J. Hill, Alan Morrefette, and Kenny Morrefette, all of Sisseton, South Dakota; Harold Hill of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Iris Hill of Eagle Butte, South Dakota; Mary Lou Good Teacher, Harold Dean Hill and Barbara Hill, all of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and a host of other relatives and friends. Malena was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Paul E. Yates, Sr., and her maternal grandfather, Harold G. Hill. Services will be held Monday, September 18, at 10:00 a.m., at the Wakon Iron Community Center, Indian Camp, Pawhuska, with Mongrain Lookout officiating. Interment will be in the Nelagoney Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Directors.

MARY ARMINTIA SPARKS
September 13, 2000 - Services for Mary Armintia Sparks, 87, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the Reed-Culver Funeral Home in Tahlequah, with the Reverend Clayton Bowling officiating. Pallbearers will be Quinton Champlain, Mike Champlain, Eric Sparks, Jeff Saprks, Joe Wayne Sparks and Roger Jordan. Mary was born to Mary Ann Frances Hendricks and William Walter Schubert on April 13, 1913 in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, where she grew up, attending Eureka and Mt. Zion Schools. In 1931 she married Bill Sparks and was a homemaker and had worked at Ozark Nursery near Tahlequah. She was of the Pentcostal Holiness faith. She passed away September 11, in Bristow, Oklahoma, after reaching the age of eighty-seven years, four months and twenty-eight days. Mary was preceded in death by her husband in 1956, three brothers, two sisters, two sons, William J. and Clinton Sparks and one grandson, Jimmy Ray Sparks. Mary is survived by her daughters, Dora Nottingham of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mary and husband, Ron Champlain of Depew, Oklahoma; and Beulah and husband, Mike Callahan of Tulsa; two sons, Oreland and wife, Carolyn Sparks of Tulsa; James Allen and wife, Kay Sparks of Depew; and one sister, Ruth and husband, Ray Hix of Muskogee, Oklahoma; twenty-seven grandchildren, sixty-two great grandchildren; twenty-five great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Reed Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, is in charge of arrangements.

TERRY ANN KEPLER
September 13, 2000 - Terry Ann Kepler, 52, a resident of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away September 11, in the Jane Phillips Medical Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Terry was born March 27, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Quintin Leonard and Olga (Gaspard) Sowards. She married Juniore G. Kepler, Sr., November 28, 1974, in Wynona, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death August 13, 1989. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Juniore G. and Crystal Kepler, Jr., of Cedar Hill, Missouri; her mother, Olga Parker, a sister, Joan Campbell and a niece Cindy Bonnett all of Wynona; a nephew, Sam Campbell and wife, Mary of Pawhuska, and a great-nephew and great-niece, Joseph and Sarah Campbell of Pawhuska. Terry was also preceded in death by her father, Quintin Leonard Sowards and a son, Buddy Kepler. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., September 13, at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Pawhuska. Mass will be September 14, at 10:00 a.m., in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Pawhuska with itnerment in the Pawhuska City Cemetery with Father Leonard Higgins officiating. Johnson Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

HAZEL MARIE PERRIER
September 13, 2000 - Mrs. Hazel Marie Perrier, 90, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died at 3:00 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2000, at the Jane Phillips Geriatrics facility. Mrs. Perrier was born December 4, 1909 near Avant in Osage County, Oklahoma and married Joseph Perrier may 17, 1929 at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Ochelata, Oklahoma, where they were active in the grocery business. They later moved to Bartlesville to make their home. Mrs. Perrier was employed as a personnel clerk in the Purchasing Department of Phillips Petroleum Company until her retirement. She was a member of the Ochelata United Methodist Church.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Darin McCarty of the Ochelata united Methodist Church officiating. Stumpff Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MRS. ELMA D. LOWREY
September 13, 2000 - Mrs. Elma Dene “Pete” (Henton) Lowrey, 69, former longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and retiree of Phillips Petroleum Company, died Monday, September 11, in the Grace Home in Shreveport, Louisiana, after a courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services for Pete will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday on the family plot in White Rose Cemetery, Bartlesville, under the direction of Neekamp Funeral Home. Honorary casket bearers will include Don Lunsford, Richard Lehman, Rick Henton, Randy Henton, Craig Popkess and Phillip Zehren. Friends who wish to pay their respects are welcome to sign the register at the Neekamp Funeral Home as the casket is to remain closed. A memorial in Pete’s name has been established for the Grace Home, A Residential Hospice, and the family requests that, in lieu of the usual remembrances, those who wish to contribute in her memory do so in care of their office, 1035 Margaret Place, Shreveport, Louisiana, 71101. Pete was born in Wynona, Oklahoma, June 1, 1931, the daughter of Richard Macklin and Pearl (Blackwell) Henton. She attended schools in Osage and Washington Counties and began her thirty-year career with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1956, retiring in 1986. Following her retirement, she made her home in Florida and Texas and had been residing in Shreveport the past two and one-half months. Pete had been an active member of the Jane Phillips Sorority, involved in numerous community activities, including coaching a women’s basketball team. While her children were small, she was involved in many areas of their activities, including working the concessions during Pony League games. Pete is survived by her daughter, Linda Carbone of Shreveport; two sons, Robert W. “Bob” Lowrey of Tucson, Arizona and John Jacob “Jake” Lowrey of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Katie Anne Jeter of Shreveport, Jennifer Anne Isaac of Ceres, California, Jason Lowrey of Norman, Oklahoma and Jordan Lowrey and Jacob Lowrey both of Oklahoma City; three great-grandsons, Joshua George Dillard, Jonahtan Sawyer Dillard and Michael Halley Isaac, III; two sisters, Lis Murphy of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Mary Nichols of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, George Walter Lowrey; two brothers, Joe Henton and Walter Henton; and a ssister, Martha Lunsford. Pete was the best grandmother and great-grandmother in the world, lovingly known by her great-grandsons as “Big Gooda”. She was a good friend and was very giving of herself, and will always be remembered for her jokes and contagious laughter.

TOMMY L. RISCHARD
September 13, 2000 - Mr. Tommy L. Rischard, 59, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Monday morning in the Tulsa Regional Medical Center. Graveside committal rites for Mr. Rischard will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday on the family plot in the White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville with Larry Blalack of Ramona, Oklahoma, presiding. services and interment are under the direction of Neekamp Funeral Home of Bartlesville. Mr. Rischard was born August 22, 1941, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He received his schooling in Tulsa, graduating from East Central High School. He continued his education at Oklahoma City University and later played baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals farm club. Mr. Rischard moved to Bartlesville in 1970 where he was active in automobile sales, coached the Washington County Boxing Team and was active with the Boys Club He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Rischard is survived by two sons, Jason Rischard and Matt Rischard, both of Bartlesville, and two grandchildren, Matthew James Rischard and Jaycee Dawn Rischard.
