Martha Mildred Bergschneider of Shawnee married M.J. Jack Bergschneider on Feb. 23, 1927, in Independence, Mo. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a song leader and a board member. She lived in Missouri until moving to Shawnee in 1953. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack on Aug. 28, 1978, four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lavaun and Dennis Duvall, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Staci Farmer, Cyprus, Texas; Josh Duvall and Ricki Simpson, Shawnee; Jeremy Duvall, Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Farmer of Cyprus, Texas; Morgan Farmer of Cyprus, Texas, and Destiny Duvall of Shawnee; one brother, J.C. "Pete" Jackson, Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Jackson, Buckner, Mo.; four nieces and two nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Lena Mae Brown
Lena Mae Brown of Shawnee married William Henry Brown Jr. on Sept. 28, 1937. He preceded her in death in March 1997. She had lived in the same house since her marriage in 1937. She served as her church's organist or pianist since age 12. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother and one grandchild. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Brown, Louisville, Ky.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Terry Rush, Wanette; Janice and Kenneth Spears, Shawnee; Mary and Noah Mullendore, Bethel Acres; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. W.F. Crow and the Rev. DuWayne Colvin officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Mausoleum, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Robert Knickerbocker
Robert Knickerbocker of Stroud died Sunday. She was 65. She was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Wichita, Kan., to William and Vinez (Palmer) Armstrong. She died Sunday in a Maud nursing home. She was 65. She was born May 29, 1935, in Seminole County. She was the daughter of James Henry Pierce and Lois Kelly (Slaughters) Pierce. She was a lifelong Maud area resident. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Verlin Pierce, on July 31, 1986. Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Taylor of Maud and Alfred Pierce of Shawnee; three sisters, Rachel Hale of Maud, Louise Cullum of Maud and Mary Brewer of Seminole; and many other nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Oak Church of God in Maud with the Rev. Larry Chesser and the Rev. Odell Vanderburg officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.

Opal Lott
Opal Lott of El Reno married to John Richard Lott, who died Monday at a Cushing hospital. He was 90. He was born June 19, 1910, in Cushing to George and Edith (Mason) Butler. He attended school at the Sac and Fox Reservation School and Schlegel School. In his early years, he helped his parents with their farm work and worked for different people in the community. He also was offered a chance to play professional baseball. He worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City, Kerr McGee in Cushing, Pinkerton Security Agency in Oklahoma City, Red Bird Mower Supply in Tulsa, Sac and Fox Tribe as Second Chief and in many of the tribal programs. He attended welding school in Oklahoma City and O.S.U. Tech in Okmulgee for small engine repairs. Butler was a Indian craftsman and writer. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 111 and the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, 32 nd degree, and was a lifetime member of the Native American Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Laura Belle Butler and Sophia Butler, and two sons, Charles F. Butler and George Butler. Survivors include his six children, Larry Butler and his wife Mary, Alexandria Levier, Benjamin Butler, Oresa Wilson and her husband A.C., Eudora Rogers and her husband James, all of Cushing, and Emma Harjo and her husband Rueben of Tulsa; one sister, Cecilian Littlehead of Shawnee; 33 grandchildren, 94-great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. The body will then be taken to the Larry Butler home for Native American Church services and burial will follow at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Butler Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.

Joe Stargell
Joe Stargell of Shawnee married Mae Lee (Jackson) Stargell on Feb. 26, 1938, in Shawnee. Stargell retired from Tinker Field Air Force Base, where he was a sheet metal worker for 30 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Temple of Praise and Deliverance in Shawnee. He was also a member of New Hope Church for 61 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nora Mae Stargell; brothers, Herman Stargell, William Stargell, Elbert Stargell, Hayes Mayes; son, Joe Wendell Stargell; and grandson, Eric Hutchinson. Survivors include his wife, Mae Lee Stargell of the home; sons, Kenneth Ray Stargell, Wendell Stargell, Randall Stargell all of Shawnee; daughters, Shirley Edwards of Shawnee; JoAnn Hunter and Wanda Hinex of Midwest City and Loretta Hutchinson of Oklahoma City; brother, Robert Mayes of Tulsa; and a sister, Jean Mayes of Tulsa; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Temple of Praise and Deliverance, Shawnee, with Pastor Odell Hardeman officiating assisted by Randell Harper. Burial will be in Earlsboro under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Rodger R. Hamilton
Rodger R. Hamilton of Merritt Island, Fla., died Monday, June 26, in Tecumseh. She was born March 6, 1937, in Fincastle, Va., to Joseph Samuel and Stella Deel. On July 7, 1957, she died Tuesday in Noble. She was 69. Mrs. Vawter was born to Sidney and Pearl Hopper Rinks on Dec. 24, 1930, at Harden County, Tenn. She was adopted at the age of 3 by John and Anna King of Nashville, Tenn. She attended grade school at South Harper Valley, Tenn., and high school at Bellview, Tenn. She and Joe Don Vawter were married for 49 years. They had lived in Noble since 1963. She was employed in housekeeping at the Norman Regional Hospital, the Holiday Inn of Norman and Howard Johnson's. Mrs. Vawter was a member of the Noble Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and adoptive parents. Survivors include her husband, Joe of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don and Donna, Norman, and Joseph, Norman; two daughters, Judy Powell and LeeAnn Idell of Noble; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Pauline Russell of Burleson, Texas, and Katie Burin of Tennessee; four brothers, Hollis Rinks of Flint, Mich.; Willie Rinks, Billie Rinks and Charles Rinks of Miland, Tenn., and other relatives and friends. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Noble Church of Christ with Norman Easter officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Maguire Cemetery, directed by Memorial Chapel Funeral Service of Noble.

Blanche Ferguson
Blanche Ferguson married Robert H. Ferguson March 16, 1940, at Roanoke, Va. She was an owner/operator in the garment industry. She attended the First Christian Church and was a resident of the Okfuskee County area for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters and one brother. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Rinda and Don Farris of Mason; Sherry McMillen of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Barbara Newton of Corpus Christi, Texas; Ruth Aiken of Troutville, Va.; Doris Jean Hall of Roanoke, Va.; Edith Cove of Fairfax, Va.; five grandchildren, Chris Lawrence of Atlanta, Ga.; Courtney McMillen of Oklahoma City; Adam McMillen of Oklahoma City; Tye Farris of Depew; Rusty Farris of Bristow and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Jane Farris of Bristow. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel at Okemah, with the Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Henryetta Cemetery.

Leo Satterfield
Leo "Jack" Satterfield of Oklahoma City died Thursday in Daly City, Calif. She was 90. Mrs. Bush was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Comanche, Texas, to Robert Randall Potter and Charlsea (Talley) Potter. She died Sunday at a local hospital. She was 86. Mrs. Hixson was born March 3, 1914, in Conway County, Ark., to William Everett Kelley and Nora (Hale) Kelley. She died Sunday in Edmond. She was 86. A former resident of Lambertville, N.J., Mrs. Wischner was born in Elizabeth, N.J. She lived in McLoud for 20 years and had been a resident of Edmond for the past three years. She worked for the state of New Jersey Department of the Treasury as a principal clerk. She retired in 1976. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Edmond and was a 10-year member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, McLoud, where she was a member of its Altar Society. She also was a past member of the Fleetwing Fire Department Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge in Lambertville, N.J. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, McLoud. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Dorothy Pykish Bilyk and wife of the late Edward Wischner of Sergeantsville, N.J. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and George Bilyk; and sisters, Anna Sutterly, Dorothy Kerling and Marion Thorne. Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Charlotte Ellmers of Williamstown, N.J.; daughter and son-in-law, Dolores and Joseph Yannarella Sr. of Edmond; four grandchildren, Ruth Burke of Phoenix, Ariz.; Stephen Ellmers of Williamstown, N.J.; Joseph Yannarella Jr., of Manalapan, N.J. and Dawn Newton of Kaiserslautern, Germany; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Tia Newton of Kaiserslautern and Mystee Yannarella of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Dorothy Glide of Sergeantsville, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be 11 a.m. today at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, McLoud. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, N.J. There will be no calling hours.

Johnie L. Lewis
Johnie L. Lewis died Monday in Garland, Texas. She was 92. Mrs. Littrell was born Jan. 30, 1908, in Prague to John D. and Bertha Ryan Keaton. She attended high school and community college in Muskogee. She and her first husband, Homer L. Wilson, owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly Grocery and Feed in Okemah in the 1930s. Her husband preceded her in death in the 1940s. She then died Saturday at her home. She was 81. She was born July 30, 1918, in Wolf the daughter of Chebon Powell and Epsie McCoy. She was a lifelong Seminole County resident and a homemaker. She was a member of the Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; five brothers; four sons; two grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include sons, George Harjo of Oklahoma City, Richard Harjo of the home, Jimmy Harjo Sr. of Bowlegs, and Andrew Harjo, Newman Harjo and Leo Tiger, all of Seminole; daughters, Betty Tanyan and Donna Renton of Seminole and Sylvia Harjo of the home; sister, Leah West of Wolf; 46 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the Harjo home, 2509 Princeton, Seminole, until 9 a.m. Wednesday morning when she will be moved to the Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church. Wake services were 7:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. today at the Harjo home. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Creek Eufaula Baptist Church with the Rev. Webster Fixico and the Rev. Houston Tiger officiating. Burial will be at the Harjo family died Friday at his home. He was 49. He was born Feb. 25, 1951, at Arkansas City, Kan. He was the stepson of Vern D. Johnson and the son of Mary Evelyn Wallace. Wagner, a rehabilitation counselor, moved to Seminole from El Paso, Texas. He was a calvary scout in the U.S. Army for four years and received the National Defense Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Good Conduct Medal, Pistol/Rifle expert, Overseas Service Ribbon and Combat Action Ribbon. Survivors include his daughter, Adrienne Jaramilla of Whittier, Calif.; brother, Preston J. Wagner of Arnold, Mo.; and granddaughter, Lauren Jaramilla of California. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Chris Stinnett officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Earnie Cooper
Earnie Cooper died Sunday. He was born to Clarence and Dovie (Duboise) Shields March 22, 1933, in Dale. He was inducted into the U.S. Army April 7, 1953, where he was a paratrooper and tank commander and was discharged July 2, 1956, at Fort Bragg. Preceding him in death wife, mother and brother, Terry. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David Shields of Harrah and Chris and Vickie Shields of McLoud, two daughters and sons-in-law, Penny and David Kesler of Shawnee and Jan and Gary Ross of Harrah; father, Clarence Shields of Dale, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita and Jimmy Benedix of Harrah and Janice and Dick Tomlinson of Tecumseh, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and other friends and relatives. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dale Cemetary under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Lorene Middlebrook, 86, married Robert Burton Middlebrook in 1933. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1975. She worked in retail sales. Mrs. Middlebrook was a member of the First Baptist Church at Okemah, where she lived most of her life. She also was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Caroll D. and Ruby Hunter, Harold H. Hunter and Woodrow and Jennie Hunter; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and Roy Arthurs, Ruth and Garland Moon, Mildred and Clifford Jones and Elsie and Leland Clem. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Bob Davidson of Arlington, Texas; sister-in-law, Jean Hunter of DeQuincy, La.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Terry and Karen Davidson of Brasilla, Brazil, Randy and Lisa Davidson of Mansfield, Texas, and Lori and Matt Kaufmann of Tulsa; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Okemah. Burial will be at Highland Cemetary in Okemah with the Rev. Curtis Townley officiating. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.
