ADA — Services for Dusty Bo Abbott, 19, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Ada, the Revs. Kirk Remers, Randy McCown and Mike Luster officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Abbott died Sept. 26, 2005, at Ada. He was born July 31, 1986, at Ada, to Vernon Vincent and Robin Leigh Thomas Abbott. He attended school at Latta and graduated from Roff High School in 2005, where he was a member of the Roff Tiger Basketball team, a member of the 2004 State Champion Baseball team, the Future Farmers of America and the Academic team at Roff High School. He was a freshman at East Central University, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Mr. Abbott was a Little League Umpire at the Homer Baseball Fields, was employed at the Chickasaw Lazer Zone and Superior Sign Shop. He attended Lightning Ridge Baptist Church and later attended Morris Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sammie Thomas, Sally Dumas, Jourdan Abbott and Merle Abbott; and great-grandparents, Roy and Marie Bottoms.

Survivors include his parents, Vince and Robin Abbott, of the home; a sister, Misty Lynn Abbott, of the home; grandmother, Mary E. Thomas, Ada; two uncles, Richard Thomas and wife Pat and Russell Thomas, all of Ada; three aunts, Cindy Griffin and husband Richard, Ada, Holly Wilkes and husband Greg, Purcell, and Dayna Dumas, California; cousins, Rodney Thomas, Shannon Thomas, Justin Thomas, Mandy Thomas, Cody Griffin and Nicole Griffin, all of Ada.

Bearers are Richard Griffin, Cody Griffin, Brandon Hatton, Felix Perez, Eric Strickland and Billy Henson.

Honorary bearers are all members of the Latta Cubs, Roff Tigers and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

NADINE ALEXANDER
ADA — Services for Frances Nadine Alexander, 77, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at Morris Memorial Baptist Church, the Rev. Gary Jamar officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Alexander died Sept. 26, 2005, at her home. She was born Nov. 6, 1927, at Jenks, to B. F. and Vernon D. Coley Taylor. She attended elementary school in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri, and she attended Ada High School. She moved to this area in 1943 from Hugo.

She married Arthur D. “A. D.” Alexander Dec. 13, 1945, at Ada. He died Nov. 5, 1982, at Ada. Mrs. Alexander, and her sister, Bea Oakes, were co-owners and operators of Alexander and Oakes Income Tax Service for 25 years. Mrs. Alexander was later a partner in Kathy’s Half Size Shop for 18 years, retiring in December of 1993. She was of the Baptist faith, and taught Sunday school at Oak Avenue and Morris Memorial Baptist Churches for 53 years.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Payne and Beatrice Oakes; and three brothers, Delbert Taylor, Sammy Taylor and Fred Taylor.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy D. Alexander, Whittier, Calif., Ronny V. Alexander and wife Frances, Ada, and Allen Bruce Alexander and wife Janice, Porter, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher L. Alexander and wife Brandy, North Charleston, S.C., Chad M. Alexander, Knob Noster, Mo., Diana M. Davis and husband Nick, Porter, Texas, and Logan Alexander, Tyler, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Taylor, Ada, and Kathryn Taylor, McAlester; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bearers are her grandsons, Chris Alexander, Chad Alexander, Logan Alexander, and Nick Davis, and Joe Bonner and Jim Jackson.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the American Red Cross, Disaster Relief Fund, 704 N. Oak, Ste. 16, Ada, OK 74820.

YUKON — Services for Ruth Marie Sexton Reeves, 81, Yukon, formerly of Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. John Ward officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Reeves died Sept. 27, 2005, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born Dec. 3, 1923, northwest of Watonga, to Henry and Alvina Grabow Edsall. She attended Loyal Grade School and graduated from Loyal High School in Loyal, Okla.

She married Lester Charles Sexton Oct. 24, 1945, at Loyal. He died June 13, 1976, at Ada. She later married Everett Weldon Reeves July 31, 1986, at Ada. He died Dec.11, 1999, at Ada.

In the 1930s, Mrs. Reeves was employed at T.G. & Y. at Kingfisher, and later at the State Capital. She was employed at Latta School for over 25 years, and 10 years with the Senior Citizens Recreation Center, Ada. She was a member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Edsall and Delbert Edsall.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ward and husband, John, Deer Creek, and Deanna Jones and husband, Glenn, Ada; three sons, Lee Sexton and wife Judy, Jim Murray and wife Jan, all of Choctaw, and Creig Sexton and wife Kathy, Piedmont; 18 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Bearers are her grandsons, T. J. Hirosky, Aaron Sexton, Nathon Sexton, Jeremy Sexton, Jason Sexton, Jordon Sexton, Benjamin Sexton, John Robert Ward and Jonathon Murray.

STRATFORD — Services for Elvis Avery Morris, 89, Stratford, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stratford First Baptist Church, the Revs. Bill Rea, Marvin Knox and Chaplain Wayne Birdwell officiating. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery.

Mr. Morris died Sept. 26, 2005, at Stratford. He was born Feb. 8, 1916, at Stratford, to Walter J. and Emma Eeds Morris. He married Wilda V. Endicott Dec. 30, 1933, at Stratford. He was a rancher and a beekeeper. He lived in the Stratford area all of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Stratford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alois Morris and Yvonne Morris; and one grandson, Rodney Wood.

Survivors include his wife, Wilda Morris, Stratford; one son, LaDon Morris and wife Patsy, Stratford; two daughters, Norma Rhodes and husband J.L., Ada, and Vicki and Tom Pickard, Stratford; one brother, Leon Morris, Stratford; one sister, Reba Magar, Stratford; five grandchildren, Donna and Jim York, Ada, Keith and Debbie Bittle, Larry and Susan Morris, Donnie Morris, and Tomi and Shannon Tice, all of Stratford; two step grandchildren, Angie Brown and Denise Clary; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Bearers are Keith Bittle, Larry Morris, Donnie Morris, Jim York, Shannon Tice and Avry Wood.

Honorary bearers are Dustin Morris, Adam York, Ralph Dykeman Jr., Roy Watson, Jake Bittle and Donnie Cothren.

ADA — Services for Caitlin Elizabeth Wooten, 16, Ada, are 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ada, Dr. Michael Frederick and the Rev. Larry Varvel will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

The teen was born Jan. 17, 1989, in Oklahoma City to Van and Donna Hood Wooten.

She attended school at Washington Irving Elementary in Edmond, Washington Elementary and Homer Elementary in Ada, and was currently a junior at Ada High School.

Miss Wooten was a member of Victory Life Fellowship, where she was active in church activities. She was a member of the Ada High School Band, colorguard, Performing Arts Club, Spanish Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Ada High School.

Survivors include her mother, Donna Wooten, of the home; her father and stepmother, Van and Cindy Wooten, Corinth, Texas; a sister, Amanda Wooten, of the home; grandparents, Andy and Joann Hood, Ada, and Sharon Sanders, Grapevine, Texas; uncle, Kevin Hood and uncle and aunt, David and Jennifer Hood; an aunt, Susan Hood; great-aunt and uncle, Bill and Ann Sneed, DeSoto, Texas; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Wooten in 1987.

Bearers will be Matt Taylor, Jake Jones, Doug West, Brian Sutterfield, Justin Black and Marshal Ross.

Honorary bearers will be the Ada High School Color Guard, Victory Life Fellowship Youth Group, and the Ada High School Cheerleaders.

MERLIN ALLARD
ADA — Services for Merlin I. Allard, 81, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Hughes officiating. Burial will be at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Fort Logan, Colo.

Mr. Allard died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at a local hospital. He was born July 31, 1924, at St. Ignatius, Mont., to Irving and Mabel Hannaford Allard.

He attended elementary school at St. Ignatius and graduated from St. Maries High School in Idaho on May 29, 1942.

He married Anna Payne on Oct. 1, 1949. She died March 31, 1968. He married Patsy Black Parks on Aug. 1, 1969.

Mr. Allard served from 1942 with the U.S. Army Air Corps for two years and the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant in 1964. He was a paratrooper in the 517th, receiving a Purple Heart Commendation. Later, he was a barber in Denver, Colo., for 12 years. He moved to this area in 1976 from Lakewood, Colo. Mr. Allard was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Allard, of the home; six daughters, Penny Doyle, Washington, Toni Allard-Beebe, Seattle, Wash., Debbie Benefield, Arvada, Colo., Rita Tillinghast, Phoenix, Ariz., Mary Nemmers, Westminster, Colo., Veronica “Cardie” Edgar, Oceanside, Calif., and Tricia Whorton, Artesia, N.M.; a son, Joe Allard, Conroe, Texas; two stepdaughters, Marque Iversen, Inglewood, Colo., Lisa Whittenberg, Montrose, Colo.; and a stepson, Britt Parks, Montrose, Colo.; 22 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Monte Allard and Sidney Allard.

MINNIE SHIELDS
Ada — A wake for Minnie Shields, 79, is 7 p.m. today at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home, Ada, the Revs. Jesse Rodgers and Sam Johnson officaiting.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, the Revs. Osborn Roberts and Donnie Jacob officiating. Burial follows at Steedman Cemetery.

Mrs. Shields died Sept. 24, 2005 at a local hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Mcmillan, Okla., to Charley and Adeline Courtney Allen.

She married Joseph Shields June 22, 1944, in Allen. He died Jan. 5, 1994.

Mrs. Shields has lived in the Pontotoc County area all her life. She was a member of the Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church and involved with Connerville Senior Activities. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Shields is survived by three sons, Charles Shields, Kent Shields and his wife Carol, all of Ada, Harlan Shields, Stonewall; eight daughters, Rose Jefferson and husband Gene, Imogene Imotichey-Walker and husband Gary, Louise Shields, Mary Gipson and husband Leslie, Carol Fox and husband Pete, Marla Key and husband Roy, all of Ada, Mae Hamilton and husband Robert, Gayle Clark and husband Scott, all of Mill Creek; a brother, Franklin Allen and wife Mary of Ada; sister-in-law, Lee Fannie Roberts, Tupelo; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shields was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Shields; parents, Charley and Adeline Courtney Allen; two sons, Henry Shields and Simon Shields; three sisters, Winnie Allen, Belle Zora Thomas, and Clara Brown; a grandson, Steven Hamilton; three brothers, Melton Allen, Tandy Allen and Calvin Allen.

Bearers are Ellis Taylor, Junior Wisdom, Stanley Smith, Tony Lewis, Mark Johnson, and James Perry.

Honorary Pallbearers are Chickasaw Nation Gov. Bill Anoatubby, Chickasaw Nation Lt. Gov. Jefferson Keel, Buddy Wesley, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
