WINEFRED BERRYMAN

ADA — Services for Winefred Berryman, 86, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. John Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at Oakman Cemetery.

Mr. Berryman died April 8, 2004, at a Sulphur veteran's hospital. He was born May 25, 1917, at Oakman to Jess Washington and Myra Coffee Berryman. He lived most of his life in this area. He lived 35 years in California.

He attended schools at Oakman and Byng.

Mr. Berryman was a steel worker, welder and pipefitter for U.S. Steel in California until his retirement. Later, he was a bus driver for the Byng School system.

He married Jacoba Hartsuiker Dec. 15, 1945, in Huntington Park, Calif. She died July 23, 2001, at Ada.

He was a Baptist and member of National Campers and Hikers Association. He served as vice president of Ada Hobo's Club. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in Europe. He was a private first class.

Survivors include a daughter, Rochelle Berryman, Ada; two sons, Mike Berryman and wife JoAnn, Mt. View, Hawaii, and Richard Berryman, Ada; a sister, Jean Ainsworth and husband B.J., Oklahoma City; a brother, J. B. Berryman, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Jess, Theresa, Chris and Jacob of Hawaii.

ALICE JETTON

ADA — Services for Alice Jetton, 89, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Jetton died April 8, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1915, at Roff, to Jake and Bettie Boone Coulson. She was a lifelong resident of this area. She attended school at Lightning Ridge and Vanoss. She attended LPN school at Valley View Regional Hospital.

She worked as an LPN at Valley View Regional Hospital, Stonegate Nursing Center and Ballard Nursing Center. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Ada.

She married A. J. "Jack" Jetton Jan. 20, 1936. He died Sept. 9, 1974, at Ada.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty, on Sept. 29, 1937, and a grandson, Dean McNeill, on April 2, 1992.

Survivors include three daughters, Jo McNeill, Stonewall, Stella Phillips, Stigler, and Phyllis Underwood, Ada; eight grandchildren, Dale McNeill, Dallas, Texas, Dan McNeill, Stonewall, Jerri Carlock, Kellyville, Jodi Hayter, Sapulpa, James Underwood, Ada, Felecia Price, Ada, Faron Underwood, Ardmore, and Jack Underwood, Ada; and 14 great-grandchildren, Kent, Aaron and Amber McNeill, Jeremy Carlock, Jennifer, Jessica and Jamie Hayter, and Eric, Cody, Mekaela, Andrea, Samantha, Alyssa and Kyla Underwood; a sister, Dorothy Cole.

Bearers are Jerri Carlock, James Underwood, Faron Underwood, Dan McNeill, Jack Underwood and Curtis Myers.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Services for Retired Army Col. John Dalton Lucas, 86, Annapolis, were April 8, 2004, at the Old Post Chapel at Fort Myer, Va. Burial followed at Arlington National Cemetery.

Colonel Lucas died March 6, 2004, at a military hospital at Bethesda, Md. He was born Oct. 3, 1917, at Dela, Okla.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University in 1941 and a master's of arts in education from Ohio University in 1966.

He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1941, serving in North Africa and Italy with the 362nd Infantry Regiment of the 91st Division during World War II. He served in an intelligence unit in Korea with the 45th Division.

During the 1950s, he served in France for more than three years and later was a professor of military science, heading the Army's ROTC program at Ohio University for five years.

He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, three Bronze Stars, Purple Heart and Croix d'Honneur from the French-British Friendship Association.

After his military retirement in 1966, he was named director of Alumni Records at Ohio University. In 1967 he became the veterans' employment representative in the state of Ohio for the U.S. Department of Labor at Columbus, retiring in 1983 and moving to Maryland.

Survivors include his wife, Cherrye S. Lucas, originally from Ada, Okla.; two sons, John Edmond Lucas, Harrisburg, Pa., and Steven Mitchell Lucas, Annapolis, Md.; a brother-in-law, Roy K. "Ted" Smith, Ada; and four grandchildren.

CLINTON SMITH

ADA — Services for Clinton Price Wilson Smith, 33, Ada, are 10 a.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, John Mayhue officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died April 7, 2004, near Coleman. He was born July 13, 1970, at Carlsbad, N.M. to Vance and Shirley Faye Fennell Wilson. He lived in Carlsbad until moving to Ada in the mid-1980s. He attended Byng and Ada schools. He received a bachelor's degree from East Central University and was currently working on a master's degree.

He worked for eight years as Pontotoc County Literacy Coalition coordinator.

He married Kacey Willis.

Survivors include his wife, Kacey Willis, of the home; two daughters, Summer Lynn Willis and Brianna Renee Willis, both of the home; a sister, Angel Wilson, Cuba, N.M.; a brother, John Moyer, Lubbock, Texas; three aunts; six uncles; three great-aunts, two great-uncles; and three nephews; and 37 cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Bessie Owens; grandfather, Arthur Fennell; and great-grandmother, Effie Kelley.

Bearers are Michael Willis, Kelsey Young, Jayme Gore, Shannon Gore, Randy Green and Greg Effinger.

Honorary bearers are Toby Hill, Todd Kane and Greg Gandy.

NORMAN — Memorial Services for Michael Leon Smith, 55, Norman, formerly of Ada and Holdenville, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is until 9 p.m. Sunday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith died Thursday, April 8, 2004, near Allen. He was born Aug. 28, 1948, in Holdenville to Leon and Alice Beck Smith. He attended school at Holdenville and graduated from Holdenville High School.

Mr. Smith was the first sales associate for Pre-Paid Legal Services when it began in 1973. He was serving as the national accounts manager for Pre-Paid Legal Services. He served in the National Guard.

He married Terie Lynn Deaton July 19, 1984. She died Nov. 24, 2003, at Norman.

Survivors include two daughters, Brandy Johnson and husband Mike, Tulsa, and Shawna Smith and friend Robert Sershon, Oklahoma City; his mother, Alice Smith, Holdenville; sister, Kay Pitcock and husband Frank, Holdenville; two nieces, Trisha Phillips and Charlotte Northam. He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Smith, in 1987.

MUSKOGEE — Services for Gillian Darby Alberson, 2-year-old daughter of Jim and Susan Alberson, Muskogee, are 2 p.m. Monday at Pickard Funeral Chapel, Stratford, the Rev. Marvin Knox officiating. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery.

Gillian died April 7, 2004, at Tulsa. She was born July 6, 2001, at Carthage, N.Y., to Jim David and Susan Thomas Alberson. She had lived most of her life in Muskogee.

Survivors include his parents; his grandparents, Robert and Kathy Alberson, Stratford, and Blaine and Pauline Thomas, Harrisville, N.Y.; great-grandparents, Jeannie Hamilton, Pauls Valley, Marge and Jay Jones, Missouri, and Luther and Bea Kaler, Harrisville; a brother, Christopher Alberson; and two sisters, Kathryne and Jennifer Alberson.

Mrs. Jackson died April 7, 2004, at Corn Heritage Village in Corn. She was born Feb. 17, 1914, at Sallisaw to Marvin and Ethel Kid Cox. She graduated from the New Lima Public Schools. She was employed in the transportation division at Tinker Air Force Base from 1943 until she retired in 1965.

She married Noel Jackson in 1946. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margery Walker; and two brothers, William and Bobby Cox.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Hargis and wife Wanda, Weatherford; three Sisters; Clemie Murphy, Ada, Maxine Lasley, Roswell, N.M., and Laquita Cox, Stonewall; four grandchildren, Veronika Hargis, Santa Clara, Calif., and LaTasha, Andre and Adrianne Marshall, all of Weatherford.

ADA — Services for Betty Jean Lewis, 82, Ada, are 10 a.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Maynard Whipple officiating. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Graham Memorial Cemetery, Pryor.

Mrs. Lewis died April 6, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born March 15, 1922, at Red Fork to Ike and Emma Cloud Caldwell. She graduated from Mounds High School and attended Draughn Business College in Tulsa.

She and Jeff Lindly Lewis were married Oct. 27, 1946. He died August 29, 2000.

Mrs. Lewis was a receptionist for NIPAK Gas Company in Pryor, retiring in 1969. She was a member of Salina United Methodist Church and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Merl Caldwell.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Lewis and wife Kaye, Ada and Jimmy Lewis, Austin, Texas; a brother, Jim Caldwell, Fort Worth, Texas; a sister, Eula "Sis" Conners, Midlothian, Va.; a granddaughter, Janesa Miller and husband Keith, Holdenville; and a great-granddaughter, Jaylan Miller, Holdenville.

Honorary bearers are Jay Lewis, Keith Lewis, Jason Lewis, Keith Miller, Larry Harrison, Tanis Gonzalez, Roger Brewer and Jerry Townley.
