TUPELO — Services for William Raymond McWethy, 71, Tupelo, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Tupelo Church of Christ, Wendell Ingram officiating. Burial follows at Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery.

He died Sept. 21, 2004, at Ada.

DONNA GAIL HOUCK
ADA — Services for Donna Gail Coon Houck, 55, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church, Dr. Rusty Fuller and the Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mrs. Houck died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born April 16, 1949, at Wewoka to Thomas and Carmen Ercil Smith Coon.

She lived most of her life in Ada. She attended school at Homer and graduated from Byng High School in 1967. She received a bachelor of science degree and master’s degree in math from East Central University.

Mrs. Houck was a teacher at Beggs and Tupelo.

She married Gene Houck Nov. 12, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Houck, of the home; two step-sons, Phillip Eugene Houck, Bishopville, S.C., and Dean Robin Houck, Bishopville, S.C.; three step-grandchildren, Justin Houck, Bishopville, S.C., Kellie Houck, Bishopville, S.C., and Gage Houck, Bishopville, S.C.; a brother, Dennis Coon and his wife Sharon, Edmond; niece, Jennifer Donwerth, Tulsa; nephew, Jeffrey Mitchell Coon, Addison, Texas; a great niece, Abby and great nephew, Craig.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Linda Lorraine Coon, January, 1970.

Bearers will be Rob Neal, Marty Byrd, Lloyd Sampson, Stewart Ward, John Clifford and Jon Neal and Kenny Fortner.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to the building fund of Trinity Baptist Church-Building a Legacy, 123 N. Mississippi, Ada, OK 74820.

ADA — Services for Mardell Jones Sampley, 89, Coalgate, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Coalgate Methodist Church, the Revs. David Rowley and Jim Smith officiating. Burial follows at Coalgate Cemetery.

Mrs. Sampley died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Ada. She was born May 19, 1915, at Ada, to William Bill Jones and Gertrude Carter. She attended Coalgate schools, graduating in 1932, and also attended East Central University and Oklahoma University.

Mrs. Sampley taught 44 years at Coalgate, Cottonwood, Centrahoma and Olney schools, retiring in 1980. She married Cornelius “Neal” Sampley July 14, 1945 at Sulphur. She was a member of the Coalgate Methodist Church for 84 years, a member of the National and State of Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Coal County Retired Teachers.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a niece, Billie Dell Barnett; grandparents, Ernest and Minnie Carter and Elizabeth Jones; and a sister, Billie Beatrice Hodges.

Survivors include a nephew, James Barnett, Coalgate; a sister-in-law, Jeanivee Carter; five cousins, Frankie Riley, Coalgate, Sue Ann Humphrey, Ashland, Ginnie Bell Vietta, Durant, Ernest Mac Carter, Seminole, and Delbert Maxwell, Edmond.

Bearers are Clay Mowdy, James Barnett III, Heath Davidson, Greg Davidson, John Vietta, Ernest M. Carter, and Delbert Humphrey.

Honorary bearers are Nick Lolli, Ken McEntire, David Shores, Tom Owens, Son Cody, Louis Sandman, and Verdell Clark.

Mrs. Laster died Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Tulsa.

ASHER — Services for Jimmy Wayne Baird, 21, Asher, are 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Asher, the Rev. Dwayne Johnson officiating. Burial follows at Vamoosa Cemetery.

Mr. Baird died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Asher. He was born Sept. 9, 1983, at Ada to Ladonna Bruno and Ernest Baird Jr.

He graduated from Asher High School, and worked at Wolverine Tube, Shawnee. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include parents, Ernie and Ladonna Baird, Asher; grandparents, Curtis and Helen Baird and Nettie Moreland, all of Asher, and Jim and Faye Bruno, Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Brian Bruno and Michael Baird, both of Asher.

ADA — Services for Bill J. Scott, 83, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Fred Huffman, Ed Rutherford and Robert Brantley officiating. Interment follows at Memorial Park Cemetery. Oklahoma City Disabled American Veterans Chapter 85 Honor Guard will perform military honors at the cemetery.

Mr. Scott died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at a local hospital. He was born May 7, 1921, in Ada to A.M. Scott and Ella Perry Scott.

He attended school at Irving and Ada Junior High. He was employed with Brockway Glass Plant in Ada, retiring in July 1986 with 41 years employment. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

He married Doris Blankenship Dec. 14, 1946, in Ada.

Mr. Scott served in the U. S. Army in the 45th Infantry during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Scott, of the home; a daughter, Doretta Sellers and her husband Jerry, Ada; two grandsons, Scott Sellers and Jeramy Sellers; two sisters, Velma Massey, Vancouver, Washington and Glenna Faust, Ada; three brothers, Stanley Walker, Ada; Bob Walker, Ada; and Glen Walker, Ada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, A.M. Scott and Ella Perry Scott, and foster parents Marion "Red" and Edra Walker, a brother, Leo Scott, and a sister, Goldie Pritchard.

Bearers are Bryan Smith, Dusty Henderson, Judd Henderson, Marty Jackson, Steve Timmons and Kendell McKibben. Honorary bearers are James Abbott, Luther Green and Glen Walker.

Mrs. West died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her home. She was born July 9, 1922, at Cedar Grove to Baxter and Lavern Summers Scroggins.

She attended school at Cedar Grove and Francis and was a homemaker. She was a member of Cedar Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

She married Orvel T. West Dec. 9, 1945, at Oakman.

Survivors include her husband, Orvel West, of the home; two daughters, Melba Sue Dixon and husband Chester, Francis; LaWanda Jeanne White and husband Willie H., Francis; one son, Lonnie Thomas West and wife Carolyn, Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Debra Dixon, Francis; LaDonna Dempsey and husband Ron, Ada; Chris White and wife Laura, Edmond; Angela Murray and husband Danny, Francis; Michelle West, Oklahoma City; and Brandy Jackson, Wewoka; brother, Baxter Scroggins Jr. and wife Joyce, Moore; one great grandson, Brent Dempsey; and six great granddaughters, Oriana White, Savannah White, Cassidy White, Melissa Dempsey, Madison Murray and Liberty Murray.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lois Scroggins and W.K. Scroggins.

Bearers are Truman Scroggins, Carrel Bryant, Melvin Williamson, Chester Dixon, Larry Wheeler and Danny Murray.

Mrs. Allen died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her home. She was born Dec. 8, 1954, at Slaton, Texas, to John W. and Elaine Mohundro Berkley.

She graduated from Weatherford High School in Weatherford, Texas in 1973. She married Donald “Bud” Allen Aug. 19, 1988 at Weatherford.

She moved to the Ada area in 1996 and was employed by Jan Frances Care Center as a certified medical aide. She attended church at the Oil Center Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald “Bud” Allen, of the home; two sons, Jesse Gardner, Mineral Wells, Texas, and Dustin Allen, of the home; two daughters, Crysta Hill, Whitesboro, Texas, and Shaina Dart, Roff; parents John and Elaine Berkley, Weatherford; two brothers, Michael Berkley, Stanwood, Wash., and Wayne Berkley, Weatherford; one sister, Malissa Berkley, Weatherford; and two granddaughters.

Bearers are Ed Freeman, Jim Ward, William Wall, Brett Hill, Gilbert Renteria, and Jason Odom.

Honorary bearers are Haydon Berkley, Triston Berkley and Ben Smith.

Mrs. Walker died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was born in Ada Jan. 31, 1935, to Albert L. and Belvie Lee Owens.

She lived in this area all her life. She attended school at Washington and graduated from Ada High School. She retired as a teller at First National Bank after 15 years’ employment. She was an active member at Union Hill Baptist Church.

She married Bennie Walker March 14, 1951.

Survivors include her husband Bennie, of the home; one son, Gregory Mark Walker and his wife Pam, Ada; a daughter, Susan Abbott and her husband Joe, Ada; five sisters, Betty Sikes, Seymour, Texas, Lucille Hackworth, Oklahoma City, Shirley Stewart, Owasso, Judy Breese, Marble City, and Recie Mitchusson, Muldrow; three brothers, Billy Loyd Owens, Oklahoma City; Jim Owens, Dallas, Texas, and Troy “Randy” Owens, Miami, Okla.; four grandchildren, Farrah Green and her husband Tim, Ada; Brett Abbott, Phoenix, Ariz.; Tara Riggen and her husband Darrin, Ada, and Blake Walker, Ada, and five great-grandchildren, Siera Lovin, Chandler Lovin, Trenton Green, Heather Riggen and Carson Green. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Alyssa Green.

Bearers are Wayne Graves, Brett Abbott, Blake Walker, Lynn Lofton, Tim Green and Darrin Riggen.
