ADA — Services for Melva Lee Hunter, 78, Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Homes Inc. Southeast Chapel, Del City.

She died June 3, 2005.

RONNIE ORPHAN
RAVIA — Services for Eugene Ronnie Orphan, 57, Ravia, formerly of Ada, are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Curt Rogers and Allen Dorries will officiate. Burial will follow at Dolberg Cemetery. A wake service will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Criswell Chapel.

Mr. Orphan died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at a Tishomingo hospital. He was born Dec. 22, 1947, to Reuben and Rose Neal Orphan.

He lived in the Ada area most of his life, attending school at Irving Elementary and Latta school.

Mr. Orphan married Lena Long Nov. 6, 1999, in Tishomingo. He was employed with J. P. Emco and was affiliated with the United Pentecostal church.

Survivors include his wife, Lena Orphan, of the home; three stepdaughters, Yolanda Ann Martinez, Dallas, Chijane Long, of the home, and Judy Kay Long, Ardmore; one grandchild, Calup Lewis; two brothers, Novarro Reuben Orphan, Ada, and Levi Jeff Orphan, Roff; three sisters, Lou Perry, Latta, Dianna Red Bruner, Ardmore, and Diann Whitey Anatubby, Ardmore; and many nieces and nephews.

Bearers will be Robert Apala, Jeff McFerran, Larry Huffman, Bill Vandergriff, Leonard Monroe, and Delbert Faulkner. Honorary bearers will be Ray Orphan, Austin Orphan, Leon Bruner, Jr., Lucky Orphan, John Bruner, Michael Bruner, Franklin Coody, Faren Tino Coody, and George Hamilton Jesse.

KONAWA — Services for Harold Glen Raper, 73, Konawa, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel, the Revs. Pam Shirk and Charley Henthorn officiating. Burial follows at Konawa City Cemetery.

Mr. Raper died June 2, 2005, at Ada. He was born Dec. 20, 1931, at Konawa, to Clarence and Mae Raper. He was a life-long resident of Konawa and attended and graduated from Konawa High School. He married Wanda Kinder Raper Feb. 13, 2002, at Konawa. He was a retired farmer and rancher and served in the U.S. Army in Germany doing helicopter maintenance.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Konawa, a past board member and president of the Seminole County Chapter of Oklahoma Farm Bureau, and a former member of the Konawa Lions Club. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M, Stillwater, with a degree in animal husbandry.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; his parents; and two sisters, Sue Ellen Raper and Infant Girl Raper.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda; two daughters, Dana Underwood and husband Pat, Idabel, and Edie Linton and husband Brad, Mansfield, Texas; a brother, Karl Raper, Konawa; a sister, Cheryl Akin, Moore; five grandchildren, Pat and Kristin Underwood and Emily, Joshua and Rachel Linton; and extended family, Brenda and Willie Cloud, Kelley and Donna Neely, Jon and Cheryl Kade, Adi Cloud, Brea and Daniel Cloud, and Kacie and Stephanie Neely.

COALGATE — Services for Kay McEntire, 84, Coalgate, are Monday at 1 p.m. at Coalgate United Methodist Church, the Rev. David Rowley officiating. Burial follows at Cairo Cemetery.

Mrs. McEntire died June 3, 2005, at Coalgate. She was born Feb. 9, 1921, at McPherson, Kan., to Valentine Meacham and Ann McHugh Emmert.

She was a Coalgate resident since 1980. She attended school at Fulton, Mo., where she graduated in 1938, then later attended Kansas State College, Manhattan, Kan., where she graduated with a degree in journalism. She married Kenneth McEntire Aug. 3, 1949, at Manhattan, Kan.

Mrs. McEntire worked for TWA and American airlines for five years. She was a welcome hostess and a public journalist She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a member of the Coalgate Methodist Church since 1980, when she moved to Coalgate. She was also a manor volunteer, member of the music club, Meals on Wheels, a member of Cairo Homemakers, and AARP as well as tutoring at Emerson Elementary School, working as a tour guide for Kaleo Bus Tours and an election worker for Coal County.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Beverly McEntire and husband Dennis McMillan, Victoria, Canada; a son, Steve McEntire and friend Cindy Corbin, New Durham, N.H.; foster children, Brenda Heck and husband Randy, Cottonwood, Carrie Walkup and husband Bryan, Coalgate; brother-in law, Carl McEntire and wife Pat, Coalgate; sister-in law, Majorie Crow, Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Lori McEntire Lapiana and husband Anthony, Rochester, N.H., Kristi McEntire and fiancé Duane Chassion, Rochester, N.H., Fraser McMillan, Victoria, Tristan McMillan, Victoria; step-grandchild, Arron McMillan, Victoria; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eola Kroel and Helen Emmert; two brothers, Merton Emmert and Fredrick Emmert; and a brother-in-law, Dutch Kroel.

Bearers are Doug Canfield, Johnny Sandman, Harper Kerr, Larry Cometti, Tom Owen and Clark P. McEntire.

Honorary bearers are Carl McEntire, Pat McEntire, Marjorie Crow, Ruby Williams and Jim Clemens.

The family says in lieu of flowers, cash donations may be made to the Coalgate United Methodist Church, Cairo Cemetery Association, or Reba Ranch House, Dennison, Texas.

GILMER, Texas — Services for Kenneth Shelby Stanfield, 79, Gilmer, are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lightning Ridge Baptist Church, Ada, Okla., the Rev. Rusty Wells officiating. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery, Ada.

Mr. Stanfield died June 2, 2005, at Longview. He was born April 15, 1926, at Roff, to Joseph Shelby and Naomi Christine Dunne Stanfield. He married Reba Katherine Fairchild Stanfield Nov. 12, 1947, at Ada. He was a dairy farmer at Lightning Ridge, and he moved to Gilmer several years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gilmer.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Doug Stanfield and wife Carol, Austin, and Kevin Stanfield and wife Gale, Gilmer; and four grandchildren, Bryan Stanfield, Chris Stanfield, Kristi Dryer and Krystal Stanfield.

Bearers are Ed Coffey, Joe Maddox, George Welch, Mack Summers, George Myrick, Virgil Miller and Fred Bowerman.

Honorary bearers are Joel Dryer, Christ Stanfield and Bryan Stanfield.

JACKSON, Mich. — Services for James R. Mahffey, 86, Jackson, Mich., are 1 p.m. Monday at Wetherby Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Carl Benes officiating. Burial follows at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today.

Mr. Mahaffey died June 1, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen, of 58 years; parents, Edna and James Mahaffey, and a sister, Enid Leon.

Survivors include his children David and Diana Hiller, Jackson, Statia and Kem Randolph, Spring, Arbor, James E. and Gloria Mahaffey, Jackson, Dan and Lindy Mahaffey, Pinckney, Mich.; grandchildren, Suzette and Raymond Schiferli, Joseph Pratt, Kevin and Connie Hiller, Scott and Missy Hiller, James and Mireja and Mahaffey, Mark Mahaffey, Michael and Teresa Mahaffey, Stephen Mahaffey, Autumn and Doug Silveus, Trina and T.J. Brower, Chad and Becky Randolph, Scott and Tonya Randolph, Jana Jacobs, Justin Jacobs; a sister, Mattie Ruth Whitlock, Ada, Okla.; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

MABEL UHLICH
ADA — Services for Mabel Brannan Uhlich, 81, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Duncan Brannan officiating. Burial follows at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Uhlich died Aug. 2, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born Nov. 16, 1923, at Alikchi, McCurtain County, Okla., to William Asberry and Mabel Foust Brannan. She graduated from Wright City High School.

She married Otto “Jelly” Uhlich Sept. 15, 1969. He died March 12, 2003, at Ada.

Mrs. Uhlich was a bookkeeper for Dicus Grocery, Ada, for many years, and she was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Maurice Westbrook Jr., one grandson, Johnny Lawson; three brothers, Norman Brannan, R.A. Brannan and Marvin Brannan; and two sisters, Cora Brannan Robberson and Myrtle Brannan Truitt.

Survivors include one brother, D.D. Brannan, Ada; two stepdaughters, Lynda Lawson, Ada, and Barbara Murphy, Moore; two grandsons, Brian Murphy, Moore, and Tommy Lawson, Ada; and three great-grandchildren.

Bearers are Sean Thomas, Darren Thomas, Robert Pickens, Brad Brannan, Anthony Garrett, Richard Brannan and Bob Brannan.

Wayne — Services for Donald Wayne Newberry, 67, Wayne, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wooster Funeral Home Chapel, Pauls Valley, Fred Butler officiating. Burial follows at Hopping Cemetery, Wayne.

Mr. Newberry died July 30, 2005, at a Pauls Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1937, at Amber, to Clara and Elmer Newberry.

He married Reta Hanson May 13, 1963, at Ada. He was an Army veteran who served in Germany. He was also an oilfield worker, a team roper and a 32nd Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Clara Newberry; one son, Bobby Newberry; one grandson, Chad Stringer; two brothers, Joe Newberry and Raymond Newberry; and two sisters, Leddie Buchanan and Mary Cramer.

Survivors include his wife, Reta, of the home; one daughter, Ellen Frizell and husband Brian, Pauls Valley; two grandsons, Cole Stringer, Virginia Beach, Va., and Dustin Stringer, Stratford; two brothers Lawrence Newberry, Muldrow, and Henry Newberry, Moore; and two sisters, Mamie Stringer, Tupelo, and Ellie Matthews, Missouri.
