Henry Brannon

Funeral services for lifelong Earlsboro resident Henry L. Brannon, 69, are shcheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Trippitt and Pastor Scott officiating. Burial is to follow at Earlsboro Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. He died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at his home. Brannon was born on Aug. 21, 1931 to Robert Brannon and Nellie J. (Ennis) Brannon in Earlsboro. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had retired from Oklahoma Juvenile Treatment Center. Brannon was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and four sisters. Brannon is survived by one son, John Henry Brannon of California; two brothers, Alfred Brannon of Earlsboro, and Isaac Brannon of Shawnee; two sisters, Bulena Brannon of Harthorn, Calif., and Juanita Brannon of Earlsboro; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Frankie Snow

Frankie (Loftin) Snow died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000 at Pioneer Nursing Home at the age of 89. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Church of Christ in Seminole with Harley Sisson and Jack Arvin officiating. Burial is to be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Snow was born Feb. 2, 1911 in Mulberry, Ark. to John Randolph Loftin and Mary (Bright) Loftin. She married Eliatt Howard Snow on May 19, 1931 in Van Buren, Ark. Snow was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Fred Loftin; and four sisters, Willie Battles, Mary Arvin, and Bertha and Zelda Johnson. Snow is survived by three sons, Charles Snow of Allen, Texas, Jerry Snow of Natchitoches, La., and John Snow of Peachtree City, Ga.; two daughters, Pat Hart of Oklahoma City and Linda Slack of Martin, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Casket bearers are listed as Jim Hart, Steve Hart, Chase Hart, Jerry Russell Snow, Paul Slack, Charles Johnson, Jeff Arvin, and Jack Arvin. Honorary bearers are Jack Karr, Randy Chelf, Freddie Marcelli, and Paul Loftin.

Jimmy Peters

Funeral services for Seminole resident Jimmy Dale Peters are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Hudson-Phillips Chapel in Holdenville with Revs. Rick Madron and Richard Turner officiating. Interment will follow the services at Yeager Cemetery under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home. Peters died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 60. He was born on Jan. 25, 1940 in Holdenville to Robert Estel Peters and Katherine Lela (Petree) Peters. Peters married Sharon Sue Gentry in Sherman, Texas on June 7, 1960. He worked at a filling station and as a roughneck until the late 1960s when he went to work for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company as a truck driver. He then worked for the Holdenville Police Department as a police officer from 1972-74 and ran for Chief of Police. In 1974, he moved to Oklahoma City where he drove a truck for the Pepsi bottling company. He worked there until 1975 when he moved to Texas and did construction work for Brown and Root. In 1977, he returned to the Holdenville Police Department as Chief of Reserve Police Officers until 1984. Peters enjoyed travelling with and listening to his daughters sing gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Peters and Gary Epperley; two sisters, Melba Thompson and Jerri Epperley; and one infant son, Jimmy Dale Peters, Jr. Peters is survived by his wife of the home; four daughters, Sherry Peters, Dale “Denise” Gentry, DaRinda Lemmings, and Kay Peters; two sisters, Deborah Harris and Barbara Maxwell, both of Holdenville; and seven grandchildren.

Lloyd Myers

Funeral services for Lloyd Melvin Myers were held today in Stout Chapel with Rev. Mack Peercy officiating. Interment followed in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Stout Funeral Home of Wewoka. Myers died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa. He was born in Beggs on Oct. 3, 1919 to Charlie and Sarah Myers. Myers moved to Wewoka as a young man and had lived there most of his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Wewoka and was also a member of the Oddfellows Lodge. Myers worked as a mechanic most of his life. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, who died in 1998. Also preceding him in death was his twin brother, George. Myers married Mary Christine Myers on Nov. 9, 1998 in Palm Springs, Calif. She survives him of the home. Other survivors include three children, Dennis Myers of Wewoka, Ann Baxter of Tecumseh, and Mickey Myers of Broken Arrow; four step children, Patricia Hultman, Michael Myers, Anthony Myers and David Myers; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Ulva ‘Sue’ Mullen

Longtime Bowlegs resident, Ulva “Sue” Renner Mullen, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000 at Pioneer Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Yarbrough officiating. Interment is to be at Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Mullen was born on April 7, 1916 to Joseph and Loudeana (Murphy) Eldredge in Kelleyville. She married Ted Rennin in 1935 in Lincoln County. The couple moved to Seminole area from Lincoln County in 1936. Mullen was a member of Bowlegs First Baptist Church and the Home Demonstration Club at Wolf. She was active in her church with Women’s Missionary and as a Sunday School teacher. Mullen was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted Renner in 1970 and her second husband, Roland Mullen in 1998; a daughter, Betty Jo Burleson in 1997; a son, Teddy Ray Renner in 1945; a step son, Junior Mullen; and a step daughter, Wanda Nichols. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Arlene Renner of Butner, and Pat Renner of Bowlegs; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Stan Kiker of Seminole; one son-in-law, Bill Burleson of McAlester. Other survivors include one step son and daughter-in-law, James and Georgia Lee Mullen of Wolf; three step daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Same Cole of Oklahoma City, Pauline and L.D. Kessinger of Shawnee, Syble and Larry Wallace of Texas; step daughter-in-law, Nancy Mullen; two brothers, Marshall Eldredge of Borger, Texas, and Paul Eldredge of California; one sister, FloRene Vann of Fritch, Texas, seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Martha Lawson

Funeral Services for Martha (Ryker) Lawson, 90, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church in Maud with Rev. Wayne Taylor officiating. Burial is to be at Cummings Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Knight Funeral Home. The casket will remain open until service time and will not be re-opened. She died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Sunset Estates of Tecumseh at the age of 90. Lawson was born on Oct. 16, 1910 to Nathanael Cal Ryker and Mary (Williams) Ryker in Leonard. She married King C. Lawson on April 28, 1933 in Maud. Lawson was a homemaker who lived in Maud most of her life. She moved to Tecumseh in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 27, 1991; her youngest daughter, Barbara “Bob” Blain in August 1990; her parents; four brothers; and one sister. She is survived by five children; Mary Eaton and James Lawson, both of Odessa, Texas, Anna Pitts of Harrah, Emma Kalka of Tecumseh, and George Lawson of Konawa; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nephews, nieces, and friends.

Nellie Spears

Nellie Jane (Dagle) Spears, 91, departed this life on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at Seminole Medical Center. Nellie was born to Judge Joseph Dagle and Sadie (Bralliar) Dagle on Nov. 3, 1909 in Richland, Iowa. Spears attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She married Vernon Spears on July 21, 1930 in Fairview, Iowa. They moved to Chicago, Ill. where Mr. Spears worked for Western Electric Company. The couple then moved to Mishawaka, Ind. where Mr. Spears was employed by the American Foundry Equipment Company which made blast cleaning equipment for the foundry industry. The company was later renamed “Wheelabrator” after the invention of the blast wheel. Nellie was a stay-at-home mother, involved with women’s groups such as the Progress Club. She was an avid golfer and was a well known square dance caller being featured in the Indiana Square Dance magazine. She loved to ride horses and later became a job interviewer with the Indiana State Employment Security Commission. Nellie “retired” to the Rio Grande Valley in 1969, settling in Pharr, Texas where she could garden all year and pick oranges from her own trees. She moved to Seminole in 1994 to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She had been a resident of Pioneer Nursing Home for the past two years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother, and her husband of thirty years. She is survived by her son and daugahter-in-law, Richard and Vicki Spears of Seminole; grandchildren Michelle Anderson and Rebecca Schkolovyi; and great-grandchild, Thatcher Anderson, all of Oklahoma City. Graveside services were conducted today at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Rena ‘Ruth’ Sharver

Funeral services for Rena “Ruth” Sharver, a resident of Summers Chapel, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church of St. Louis with Rev. Glenn Peck officiating. Burial will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa. She died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000 at the age of 65. Sharver was born on Feb. 2, 1935 in Ada to Ola Mae and Clarence E. Adams. She married Quennion Sharver on Nov. 19, 1952 in Ft. Smith, Ark. Sharver received her Master’s of Education degree from East Central University and retired in the education field. She lived most of her life in the Summers Chapel area. Sharver was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of the home; one son, Quennion D. Sharver of Summers Chapel; one daughter; Melody Lynn Sharver of Summers Chapel; one brother, Edward Lee Adams of Eufaula; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers are listed as David LeAllen Sharver, Terry Ballard, Dwayne Pierson, Tyler Dean, Gary Smith, and Brad Hamilton.

Omer Bowman

Funeral services for Seminole resident Omer Cecil Bowman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 22 at the Criswell Chapel in Ada. The Rev. Ray Belford will officiate with interment following at the Wetumka Cemetery. Bowman died on Sunday Nov. 19, 2000 at a local nursing home at the age of 92. Bowman was born Aug. 17, 1908 in Bristow to James Wesley and Evaline Beasley Bowman. He was married to Effie Moore on Jan. 21, 1939 in Wetumka. He was retired from Sin- clair/Atlantic Richfield Oil after many years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He served on the Varnum School Board of Education and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the National Guard 45th Infantry Division for 12 years and was on active duty in W.W.II. During his millatry service he recieved numerous medals, ribbons, and citations. He is survived by his wife; four sons, Zane Bowman of Ada, James Bowman of Lone Grove, Donald Bowman of Guthrie, Robert Bowman of Milton, Fla.; one daughter, Debbie Choate of Ada; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be grandsons; Jon Mark Bowman, Charles Bowman, Lance Bowman, and Garth Bowman and also Mike Choate and Thomas Pechacek.

Mary Harjo

Mary Ellen (Scott) Harjo died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Sunset Estates of Maud at the age of 66. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Maud with Revs. Leroy Davis and Malcolm Tiger officiating. Wake services are to be at 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Maud. Harjo will lie in state in her home until 4 p.m. Thursday at which time she will be moved to the church. Burial will be at the Harjo Family Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Harjo was born on April 6, 1934 to Hilured and Stella (Howard) Scott in Marietta. She moved to Seminole County 50 years ago from Dodd City, Texas. She married Jonase “Smokey” Harjo on Sept. 22, 1952 in Seminole County. Harjo was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She was a member of Achena / Buckeye Mission. Harjo was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 12, 1989; her parents; and one brother, Joe Scott. She is survived by two sons, Leon Harjo and Randy Harjo, both of Maud; seven daughters, Joanna Harjo of Edmond, Rosie Harjo, Kathie Hurst, Rita Phelps, Jeanette Harjo, Toni Harjo, and Tiffany Harjo, all of Maud; five brothers, Ray Scott and Jimmy Scott, both of Ft. Worth, Texas, Glen Scott of Lufkin, Texas, Bill Scott of Dodd City, Texas, and Jack Scott of Texas; one sister, Helen Tallas of Denison, Texas; six grandchildren; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pall bearers are listed as Hershel Davis, Joe Davis, Terry Harjo, Justin Horton, Zac Horton, Charles Votaw and James Votaw. Honorary bearers will be James Hurst, David Harris, Albert Curley, and Curtis Gentry.

Ralph Guild Jr.

Funeral services for the father of a Seminole resident, Ralph T. Guild, Jr., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ardmore with Father Paul Zahler officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home of Ardmore. Wake services will be held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Chapel. Guild died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 83. He was born on Sept. 30, 1917 to Ralph T. Guild, Sr. and Anna M. (Yahn) Guild in Olean, N.Y. Guild married Thelma Lenora Lane on June 2, 1946 in Ada. He retired as an Assistant Production Superintendent with Mobil Oil Company. Guild was active with the Boy Scouts for over 35 years and the Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 56 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club, National Rifle Association, Bass Masters, and St. Mary and St. Cecilia Catholic Church. Guild was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 23, 1992 and his parents. He is survived by three sons, Dr. Ralph Guild III of Oklahoma City, Fred E. Guild of Seminole, and David R. Guild of Marlow; four daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Columbia, Mo., Pauline Guild of Austin, Texas, Nancy Croley of Alachua, Fla., and Theresa Matthews of Healdton; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Serving as bearers will be Bill Carlisle, L.T. Martin, Gerald Prater, Bob Pinkerton, David Jenkins, and Jim May. Honorary bearer will be Chan Roy.

Dollie Ehly

Funeral services for Dollie Magdeline Ehly, 73, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Allen with Rev. Steve Cline officiating. Burial is to be at Allen Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Ehly died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000 at Shawnee Care Center. She was born on Dec. 1, 1926 in Allen to Clarence Surth Nunnelley and Susie Ann (Webb) Nunnelley. Ehly was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Seminole and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Herman, Thurman, Edward, Weyburn, and Wilburn Nunnelley, and William Edward Anderson; and one sister, Ruby Wyoming Russell. Ehly is survived by two sisters, Lee Highet of Redding, Calif., and Wanda Craft of Seminole; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Casket bearers are listed as Bobby Craft, Charley Brand, Jess Brand, Glenn Riddle, Clint Nunnelley, and Carie Nunnelley. Honorary bearers are Brad Vakilzadeh and Steve Bunyard.

Jerry Marshall

Jerry D. Marshall, 39, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Rev. Allen Wood officiating. Burial is to follow at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Marshall was born in Seminole on Oct. 29, 1961 to James B. Marshall and Patsy Ruth (Collins) Myers. He married Gina Stanfill on Dec. 13, 1982 in Seminole. Marshall was a land surveyor by trade. He was a member of the Oklahoma Society of Land Surveyors and the Oklahoma Game Cock Association. He was also the lead guitarist for the local band “Blister.” He is survived by his wife of the home; his parents, both of Seminole; one son, Jerod Marshall; one daughter, Amber Bowen, both of Seminole; two brothers Terry Marshall of Shawnee, and Curtis Myers of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Nannetta Brown of Tucson, Ariz.; and one grandson.
