Ennis Ray Lynch

Funeral services for lifelong Seminole resident, Ennis Ray Lynch are scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. He died July 1, 2003, at the age of 50, in an auto accident at Little. He was born on Aug. 21, 1952 in Seminole to Ennis James Lynch and Lorena Alice (Driskill) Lynch. He worked for Shawnee Mills for several years and then was self-employed. He was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Junia Faye Dye; one brother-in-law, C.D. Houck. He is survived by the mother of his children, Lynn Neal of Atlanta, Ga.; three sons, Ennis Ray “J.R.’ Lynch, Jr. of Stuart, Fla; Casey Ray Lynch of Seminole, currently serving in Iraq, Kevin C. Lynch of Atlanta, Ga.; Brother Charley Lynch of Seminole, two sisters, Mary Sue Poff and Shirley Houck, both of Seminole and several nieces, nephews and other family members. Rev. Roy Robertson will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Martha Jane McCready

Funeral services for Seminole County residents sister, Martha Jane McCready were scheduled for 2 p.m. July 3, 2003, at the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Prague with Rev. Randall Miller officiating. She died on July 1, 2003, at the age of 78 years, in Prague. She was born Feb. 1, 1925 in Stigler to John L. and Mary (Ballard) Adams. She had been a resident of the Paden area most of her life with the exception of living in Vian for several years. She attended Paden Schools. She married William Clarence McCready on June 5, 1942 in Okemah and he preceded her in death of Jan. 11, 1986. She was a homemaker and worked for Beoing Aircraft for five years. She had attended several churches in the Paden area. Her parents, a daughter, Ida Rhea McCready and two brothers, Clifton Adams and Carney Adams also preceded her in death. She is survived one son, Bill McCready of Rogers, Ark.; one daughter, Mary Sue Watkins of Paden; one brother, Clinton Bud Adams; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery in Paden with the grandsons serving as pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service, Prague.

Sam A. Mitchell

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Sam A. Mitchell, were scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, Ill. He died June 29, 2003, at his residence in Carmi. He was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Seminole to Sam A. and Pauline Lucille (Crain) Mitchell. He married Phyllis D. Poole June 26, 1981. He was a retired mail carrier and a retired fire fighter in Seminole and worked for George Mitchell Drilling Company in Carmi. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Seminole as well as the Free Will Baptist Church. He attended the Cherry Street General Baptist Church in Carmi. He was also a Korean War Air Force Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home, five daughters, Susan Pinkerton of El Paso, Texas, Teresa Reich of Topeka, Kan., Melisa Weddle of Rockwall, Texas, Betty Noey of Papillion, Neb. and Kimberly Tharp of Morton, Ill.; a sister, Evelyn Cox of Seminole; two brothers, Billy Mitchell of Shawnee and Ron Mitchell of Seminole; nine grandchildren; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Littles. Officiating the services was Rev. Bob Pollard. Interment was in the Union Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be given to the Cherry Street General Baptist Church building fund.

Fred H. Casteel

Funeral services for Seminole native, Fred H. Casteel are scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. He was born on June 14, 1916 in Maud to Frank L. and Bessie (Frank) Casteel. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1933 and married his first wife Dolores on dec. 30, 1941 in Shawnee. He was in World War II from 1941-1945 and worked at Tinker Air Force Base from 1945-1973. He was a charter member of Del City Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife, Donna; a son, Kent; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and four siblings who died in childhood. Interment will follow in Sunny Lane Cemetery under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast.

Amos Calvin Maines

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident, Amos Calvin Maines, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole. He was born on Sept 6, 1918 in Panola County, Texas to A.M. Maines and Effie (Copeland) Maines. He was married to Delphia O. (Webber) Maines on Oct. 8, 1965 in Seminole. He was a retired bus driver and maintenance from Columbine School. He was a member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tecumseh and was an ordained minister. Casket bearers are Curtis W. Thomas, Mike Smithee, Jack Webber, Matt Webber, George Guffey and Dewayne Lemmings. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Delphia Maines of the home; two sons, Jerry Maines of California and Dan Maines of Alabama; two step sons, Bill Howard of Nevada and Mike Howard of Texas; one daughter, Katy Shephard of California; one step daughter, Barbara Thomas of New Mexico; one brother, Ben Maines of Longview, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Officiating the service will be Mack Pearcy. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Michael T. Riley

Funeral services for husband of former Seminole resident, Michael T. Riley are scheduled for Monday at 1:30 at Dorcus Chapel at Marian College in Wis. He was born Nov. 28, 1950 at Eldora, Iowa. to William and Anna Mae Lawler Riley. On Sept. 12, 1983, he married Nancy C. McElroy in Madison, Wis. He died June 26, 2003, at Waupun Memorial Hospital, Waupun, Wis. He worked as a sales representative for various agricultural businesses. He received a degree in soil and water conversation from Oshkosh and recently completed a bachelor of business administration degree from Marian College. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and was a member of the Duck’s Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Fold du Lac; two daughters, Chanin Riley of Deerfield, Wis.; Sarah Riley of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one son, Jason Riley of Madison; one grandson, Dylan Michael Riley of Madison; four brothers, Dennis Riley of West Liberty, Iowa, John Riley of Manchester, Iowa, Robert Riley of Lanark, Ill. and David Riley of Creston, Iowa; his father and stepmother, William and Ellie Riley of Lamont, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his mother and one infant brother, Donny. Visitation will be on June 29, from 4-8 p.m. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Sisters’ Marie Scott and Judith Schmidt will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.

Robert Earl Endwright

Graveside services for Seminole County resident, Robert Earl Endwright, were scheduled for 11 a.m. at the Little Cemetery with Rev. Daniel McCracken officiating. He died June 28, 2003, at the age of 68, in Sunset Estates of Maud Care Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Mitchell, Ind., to Earl Michael Endwright and Pearl G. (Green) Endwright. He was married to Wanda L. Hatfield on Sept. 8. 1978, in Durant. He was the produce manager for Stone’s IGA Grocery in Oklahoma City in Shepard Mall, retiring in 1992. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father on Aug. 12, 1992; mother on Jan. 6, 2002; one son, Thomas Bennett in 2000; and one daughter, Pattie Rose in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Wanda L. Endwright, of the home; one son, Kenny Bennett of Shawnee; two daughters, Terry McCracken of Maud and Betty Webster of Seminole; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Interment will be under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home, Maud.

Bill Ockerman

Funeral services for former Seminole resident, Bill Ockerman, are scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, Seminole. He died June 27, 2003, at the age of 86, at St. John’s Hospice in Tulsa. He was born Sept. 3, 1916, in Beggs, to Luther Ockerman and Bessie (Gant) Ockerman. He was married to Berniece Elsie Ockerman on Dec. 5, 1940. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church, Seminole. He was an oilfield worker in and around Seminole most of his life. Employers included Mora Oil Co. and Wood Oil Co. retiring in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Berniece, on Sept. 9, 1992; two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Fred Ockerman of Broken Arrow; on brother, Roy Ockerman, Dumas, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Bell of Sapulpa and Patty Jo Groover of Tulsa; and three grandchildren. Interment will follow in the Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.

Steven Jones

Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Steven Ray Jones, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Sasakwa. Brother Wesley Martin will officiate. Interment will follow at Vamoosa Cemetery, under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka. Jones died Monday, June 23, 2003 at his home in Visalia, Calif., following a brief courageous battle with cancer at the age of 50. He was born to Woodrow Jones and Lorene (Crosby) Jones on Aug. 5, 1952 in Sasakwa. Jones grew up in the Sasakwa area, and graduated from Sasakwa High School in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1971. Jones married Ruby Alexander in Springville, Calif., and the couple made their home in Visalia, Calif., until his passing. During his life, Jones was a security guard with Triple A Security Services. Jones is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; five children, Eric Jones, Lawton, Holly Knizley, Pearl River, La., Zachary Jones, Holdenville, Carla Clifton, Sallisaw, and Andy Gomez, Visalia, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Jones, Spring, Texas, and Ronald Jones, Seminole; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lenora Lorene Crosby Jones on April 3, 1959; his step-mother, Ollie Whisenhunt Jones in 1986; his father, Woodrow, on Jan. 19, 1999; one brother, Jimmy Leon Jones on July 30, 1999; and his aunt, Helen Crosby Thornton. Pallbearers will be Robert Jones, Ronnie Jones, Bobby Parker, Billy Clifton, Brad Driver, and Keith Byerly. Honorary bearers are Tyler Clifton, and Edward Ballard. The Chickasaw Nation Honor Color Guard will perform the Flag Ceremony.

Roger Eugene May

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident Roger Eugene May are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at the Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel. Brother John Wiles will officiate the services. Burial will follow at the Holdenville Cemetery, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. May passed away Thursday, June 26, 2003 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital at the age of 63. He was born to Andrew Jackson May and Flossie (Pruitt) May on April 20, 1940 in Wetumka. May married Carolyn (Smith) May on Feb. 28, 1959 in Holdenville. He was an oilfield production engineer and pumper, and was of Baptist faith. May was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Devoe Maye in 1995; and one sister, Barbara Whittern in 1999. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn May, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Jalena May, Seminole, Tommy and Carmen May, Maud, and Rodney and Dovie May, Shawnee; two daughters and son-in-law, Kim and David Kiker, Seminole, and Karla May, Seminole; one sister-in-law, Shirley Maye, Seminole; one brother, Jerry May, Van Buren, Ark.; eight sisters, Obie Osborn, Shirley Osborn, and Claudetta West, all of Wetumka, Judy Allen, Wewoka, Janie Mize, Earlsboro, and Ladonna Brown, Jeanie Jones, and Mary Brawdy, all of Seminole; one brother-in-law, Dan Whittern, Tecumseh; nine grandchildren, Marcus and Abby May, Michael May, Wesley May, Staci Kiker, Derek Kiker, Devon May, Macie May, and Dassie May; and two great-grandchildren, Destiney May and Marcus May, Jr. Casket bearers will be Marcus May, Michael May, Wesley May, Derek Kiker, Ryan Smith, and Randy Osborn. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Stokes, Charlie McNamara, Jerry May, Larry Smith, and his nephews.

Pauline Marie Elmore

Funeral services for Pauline Marie Elmore are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robin Watts officiating. Elmore passed away on June 25, 2003 at the age of 73, at Norman Regional Hospital. She was born Dec. 13, 1929, in Reece, Kan. to Clyde and Sophia Gertrude (Wittenmeyer) Baker. She and George H. Elmore were married on Dec. 11, 1947 and he preceded her in death of April 5, 1999. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Okfuskee County since 1976. Also preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Michael Elmore; and one sister, Kate Wilson. Survivors include her grauddaughter, Julie Elmore Butler and husband Richard of Okemah; daughter-in-law, Carolyn S. Elmore of Okemah; one brohter William 'Bill' Baker of Haywood, Calif.; step-grandchildren, Marian Hand and Sherry Croney of Arkansas; Johnny Croney of Okemah; Lisa and Tim Grooms of Okemah; one niece, Carol Ogburn and husband, Alan of Texas, two nephews, Doug Wilson and wife, Jo of Tulsa and Larry Wilson; one brother-in-law, Jim Elmore and wife, Twila; three sister-in-laws, Alyce Watts and husband Gerald, Leta Elmore and Tina Elmore. She is also survived by 15 step-great-grandchildren, Rachel Vorhees and husband Chris of Arkansas, Scott Hand of Seminole, Madeline Coon of Arkansas, Ashley, Amber, Alicia, Andrea, Johnny Jr. and Jeremy Croney of Keystone, David Croney, Allen Croney both of Arkansas, Crystal Magness, Austin Magness, Lauren Scran and Samantha Grooms, all of Okemah; and four step-great-great grandchildren, Tyler, Jared, Parker and McKinsey Vorhees of Arkansas. Pallbearers are Tim Grooms, Tom Grace, Scott Hand, Jim Elmore, Robin Watts and Rocky Duke. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Richard Fleming

Funeral services for Konawa resident Richard “Dick” Milam Fleming are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grace Community Church in Konawa. Revs. Drew Isaacs and James Pendleton will officiate. Memorial services and burial will be at 4 p.m. at Memorial Gardens in Muskogee, under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home of Konawa. Fleming passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada at the age of 55. He was born to Robert Earl Fleming and Claudine Alma (Milam) Fleming on March 31, 1948 in Tulsa. Fleming married Vicki Boydstun on June 3, 1972 in Muskogee. The couple moved to Konawa from Rattan in 1989. Fleming was a teacher and coach at Konawa High School, retiring in May 2002, and was currently an insurance agent for Horace Mann Insurance Company. He was a member of the Grace Community Church in Konawa; a member of the Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association; a member of the National Rifle Association; a member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association; and was an ordained minister with the Federation of Christian Churches. Fleming was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Fleming, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Lance and Leslie Fleming of Okmulgee, and Nathan Lee and Amanda Fleming of Ada; one daughter, Chelsea Renee Fleming, of the home; one brother, Joe Lee Fleming, Winnsboro, Texas; and five grandchildren, Darius Fleming, Christopher Lance Fleming, Jr., Lex Fleming, Jaylee Fleming, and Brooklynn Fleming. Casket bearers will be Richard Hendershott, Larry Walsch, Danny Freeman, Dave George, Darryl Brooks, and Alton Wood. Honorary bearers will be all of Dick’s former baseball players and softball players.

Jack Alton Streetman

Funeral services for longtime Seminole County resident, Jack Alton Streetman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Konawa Performing Arts Center at the Konawa Public School. He died June 25, 2003, at the age of 82 at Ballard Nursing Home, Ada. He was born April 24, 1921 in Okemah to Francis Marion Streetman and Effie (Bass) Streetman. He was married to Wilda Walker on Nov. 9, 1947, at the First Baptist Church in Konawa. He has been a resident of Konawa since 1930. He was the owner of Streetman’s Grocery in Konawa. He graduated from OSU, which was Oklahoma A & M, in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy as a first lieutenant, serving during World War II. He was a member of the Konawa First Baptist Church, Konawa Lion’s Club and served as zone chairman and governor. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank Streetman and Morris Streetman. He is survived by his wife, Wilda Streetman of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Kim Streetman of Konawa; one daughter and son-in-law; Shelley and Fred Sawatzky of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Zachary Heister and Brett Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews. Rev. Charley Henthorn will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Konawa City Cemetery under the direction of Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Home.

Roger May

Funeral services for Seminole resident, Roger May are pending with Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole. He died June 26, 2003, at the age of 63 in the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.
