Faryss Anthony Coody

A service for lifelong Maud resident Faryss Anthony Coody will be held on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the Maud High School Auditorium with Bro. Glenn Peck and Rev. Sandy Harjo officiating. There will also be a viewing from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home on Thursday. Interment will be at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home. Coody was born in Ada on May 8, 1987 to Faren Anthony and Ruby A. (Nail) Coody. He played football (#10), basketball, and baseball for Maud High School. He was also an avid hunter. Coody is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack Nail and Franklin Andy Coody, Sr. He is survived by his par ents and sister, Feliza Coody all of the home; grandmothers, Lou Perry of Latta, and Ruby Nail of Maud. The casket bearers for the service will be Steven Nail, Jeff McFerran, Cate Jesse, Curtis Nail, George Nail, and Coach Butler. The honorary bearers will be Keith Nail, and the entire Maud High School football team, Franklin Coody, Ronnie Silas, Bill Anderson, and Cary Fletcher.

Caden James Gibbs

Services for Caden James Gibbs, infant son of Seminole residents Anne Evans and Scotty Gibbs, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Chaplain Larry Sparks will officiate. Interment is scheduled to follow at the Little Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Swearingen Funeral Home. Gibbs was born and died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004. Gibbs was preceded in death by his great grandparents James and Maureen Vanarsdale, Melvin Swanson Sr., Warren Rich, and Bill and Bernice French. Gibbs is survived by his parents; one brother, Logan; one sister, Madison; grandparents Mary and Joe French, Jacky and Gary Griffin, all of Seminole, and Melvin Swanson Jr. of Central City, Neb.; and great grandparents Sally Rich, Darlene and Marvin Griffin, all of Seminole, and Shelba Swanson of Central City, Neb. Pallbearers will be Bobby North, Jon Strunk, Chris Rauch and T.J. Lynch.

Tim Campbell

Funeral services for Konawa resident Tim Campbell are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at the Pickard-Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Konawa, under the direction of Pickard- Swearingen Funeral Home. Richard Winters and Father Mathew Brown are set to officiate, and interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Campbell died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Valley View Hospital in Ada, at the age of 47. He was born in Oklahoma City on Sept. 19, 1957, to Donald Gene and Patricia Marie (Sempter) Campbell, and grew up in the Oklahoma City area. On Jan. 4, 1984, he married Carla (Bell) Campbell in Gainesville, Texas, and in the same year moved to Konawa. For a career, Campbell owned and operated C&C Auto Supply and the Tiger Car Wash, and was the former owner of Campbell’s Vacuum Trucks. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Konawa Chamber of Commerce. Campbell was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Gary Don Campbell, and his grandfather, Woodrow Campbell. He is survived by his mother, of Konawa; his wife, of Konawa; two sons, Eric Campbell, San Diego, Calif., and Cody Campbell of Konawa; three brothers, Mark Campbell and Stephen Campbell, both of Piedmont, and Michael Campbell of Konawa; one sister, Sheryl Sharber, of Okemah; a grandmother; and one granddaughter. Pallbearers are Tim Coffey, Terry Welcher, Kenneth Coleman, Charles Palmer, Jimmy Tooley, Kelley Neely, and Greg Walton.

Margie C. (Clagg) Bath

Memorial mass for former Seminole resident Margie C. Bath, 65, is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Monday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with Father Maurus Jaeb. Bath died Sept. 28, 2004 in Midwest City. She was born Jan. 24, 1939 in Seminole to Noah Lee and Ola (King) Clagg. She married John R. Bath on June 19, 1962. She graduated from Seminole High School and worked with Sears and Wal-Mart in retail sales for over 30 years. Bath was a member of St. Benedict’s Parish and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her parents and son, Richard W. Bath preceded her in death. Surviving her are her husband of the home; son James D. Bath of Pacific, Calif.; two brothers, Raymond Clagg of Shawnee, and Harold Clagg of Newalla; two sisters, Berchie Button of Shawnee, and Wynema Anderson of Newalla; and one grandchild.

Jamie Floyd Conger

Services for Jamie Floyd Conger, son of Wewoka resident Floyd Conger, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating. Services are being handled by the Swearingen Funeral Home. Conger died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 at McAlester Hospital. He was 29. Conger was born in Wewoka on Feb. 15, 1975 to Floyd Conger and Juanita (Myers) Conger. Conger worked as a mason, in McAlester. His mother, four grandparents, and one sister preceded him in death. Conger is survived by his father Floyd, of Wewoka; three sons, Jace and Tyler Conger of New Lima and Riley Conger of McAlester; two daughters, Macie and Ashley Willis of McAlester; two brothers, Scotty Conger of Ada and Randy Dougan of Shawnee; two sisters, Amy Dye and Lori Osborne of Shawnee; and his wife, Tina Conger of the home. Memorial donations may be made to Swearingen Funeral Home to assist the family.

Elva Opal Easter

Funeral services for Seminole resident Elva Opal (Byrd) Easter, 79, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Don Pruitt and C.A. Smith officiating. Easter died Sept. 28, 2004 at her home and was born July 10, 1925 in Graham to Gilbert Dow and Ethel (Knutson) Byrd. She married E.B. “Luke” Easter on June 24, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas and was a homemaker. Easter was a Seminole resident off and on for 24 years and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for a few years. She was a member of Good Hope Road Church of Christ. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband; son Jimmy Easter of Mannford; daughters Dianne Pruitt of Kabool, Mo., and Suzanne Hardin of Seminole; brother D.J. Byrd of Sulphur; three sisters Iba Jo Smith of Andrews, Texas, Barbara DeGeough of Clovis, Calif., and Mona Sue Elliott of Bakersfield, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home. Her casket bearers will be her grandsons, Justin Easter, Jeff Easter, Greg Pruitt, Rusty Hardin, Jason Smith, Dale Smith and Randall Smith.

Fred Bruner

Funeral services for Holdenville resident Fred Bruner, uncle to Seminole County residents, are set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Middle Creek #1 Church in Lamar, under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville. Rev. Fred Lindsey and Rev. Johnson Roberts are set to officiate, and burial will follow at the Bruner Cemetery in Lamar. Wake services are set for Wednesday evening. Bruner passed away Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Okemah, at the age of 66. He was born in Lamar on Feb. 17, 1938, to Sunday and Bessie “Lietka” Bruner. Bruner was raised in the Lamar area and attended school in Lamar and Moss. He moved to Holdenville in 1984 and worked as an upholsterer for many years, owning Holdenville Upholstery since 1984. Bruner was a member of Middle Creek #1 Church in Lamar for many years. He is survived by his wife, Wynema Bruner, of the home; daughter, Marian Larney, Lamar; brother, Joe Wallace Bruner, Lamar; step-children; step-grandchildren; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers are Doug Bruner, Joe Bruner Jr., Keith Larney, Brian Larney, Myron Sekayouma, and Yotin Keawphalouk.

Zelma Bowlin

Funeral services for Seminole resident Zelma Bowlin are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Paden First Baptist Church with Rev. Ledtkey McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery in Okemah. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service of Prague. Bowlin died Sept. 28, 2004. She was born in Welty to Thomas Henry Wright and Sara Elizabeth (Knapp) Wright. She resided in Okfuskee County most of her life. Bowlin married Ennis Hudson on Sept. 29, 1928, in Paden. He preceded her in death March 4, 1968. She then married Frank Bowlin in Okmulgee on Oct. 6, 1977. He preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1984. She was a member of the Paden First Baptist Church. Bowlin made her home in Seminole for the past two years. Bowlin was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one brother, Donald B. Wright of Cabot, Ark.

William Edward Gaines

Graveside services for Maud resident William Edward “Willie” Gaines are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Cummings Cemetery of Maud, under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home of Maud. Rev. Wayne Taylor is set to officiate. Gaines died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Pioneer Nursing Center in Seminole, at the age of 84. He was born March 25, 1920, in Sasakwa, to Sidney Bert Gaines and Lillie Mae (Ewell) Gaines. On March 2, 1946, he married Grace L. (Renfro) Gaines in Carson City, Nevada, and served over 10 years in the United States Army, serving in World War II as a first sergeant. Gaines moved back to Maud 45 years ago, from Stockton, Calif. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1975. He attended the Church of Christ in Maud. Gaines was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, of the home; a daughter, Doris Jean Ditter, of Salem, Ore.; two sons: Larry Edward Gaines, Tecumseh, and Terry Lee Gaines, Horn Lake, Miss.; one brother, Sidney Bert Gaines Jr., Stockton, Calif.; three sisters: Nadine Murphy, Jewell Baker, both of Stockton, Calif., and Fay Nell Tyler of Laurel, Md.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The casket will remain open until service time, and will not be reopened following the service.

Peggy Joyce Dollarhide

Graveside services for former Seminole resident Peggy Joyce Dollarhide were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery, Pawnee. Rev. Tom Scott was scheduled to officiate, under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home of Pawnee. Dollarhide died Friday, Sept. 24, 2004, in Morrison. She was 65. She was born May 5, 1939, in Bonham Texas to Geroge Mason and Opal Lemons Mason. Dollarhide married James Dollarhide on Oct. 23, 1968, in Shawnee. They moved to Mulhall from Seminole and to Morrison in the late 1960s. Her daughter Melinda Knott preceded Dollarhide in death on Oct. 28, 1968. She is survived by her husband Jim of Morrison; six children, LeRoy Knott of Arcadia, Kan., Mike Knott, Danny Knott and Tony Knott all of Morrison, Lisa Moore and Eddie Dollarhide both of Stillwater; four sisters, Melba Gibbs of Mesquite, Texas, June Hume of Sulphur, Margaret Scott and Linda Barnes of Seminole; and two brothers, Wayne Mason of Tecumseh and Terry Mason of Seminole.

Dwayne D. Bobbitt

Funeral services for Rev. Dwayne D. Bobbitt, 80, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Seely, Pastor of Chandler First Assembly of God Church, to officiate. Bobbitt died Sept. 27, 2004 in Seminole. He was born on May 3, 1924 in Eufaula to Lawrence and Susan Bobbitt. He married Virginia Lee Hyatt on Sept. 21, 1943 in Seminole and was ordained as a minister for the Assemblies of God on March 1, 1960. Bobbitt has ministered in the Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, and Texas District of the Assemblies of God for 50 years. He preached his final two sermons at hilltop Assembly of God Church on Sept. 26, 2004. He accepted Christ as Savior of his life on Nov. 4, 1954 and spent his life preaching the gospel and sharing God’s love. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, and a daughter. Surviving family members are his wife, Virginia Lee Bobbitt of the home; Eileen Marie Smart of McKinney, Texas; four granddaughters and, Leona Bolding and husband of Oak Point, Texas, Gail Snider and husband of Pilot Point, Texas, Lisa McGee of Ponca City, and Regina Stillwell and husband of Seminole. Additional survivors are six great-grandchildren, Alex and Elaine Snider, Joshua Bolding, Justin McGee, and Eric and Samantha Stillwell. Interment will be at Little Cemetery. Pallbearers are to be grandsons-in-law Mark Bolding and John Snider, Hilltop Assembly of God members, Larry Davidson, Joe Houck, Mark Poulter, and Walter Tibbs. Carl Moore will be acting as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Children’s Home “Chapel Fund”, 1300 Summers Place, Ponca City, Okla., 74604.

William Bland

Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident William Edgar Bland are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Home with Larry Sparks officiating. Interment is to follow service at Holdenville Cemetery. Bland, 88, died Friday Feb. 4, 2005 at his home. He was born on Sept. 6, 1916 in Stratford to James A. and Delia Ann (Rochel) Bland. He married Edva Lou Shields on May 7, 1940 in Okemah. Bland moved to Seminole from Holdenville. Work careers for him in- cluded working in the oilfield, rancher and as a self-employed driller. He was a member of the Independent Holiness Church. His parents, three brothers, five sisters and daughter-in-law, Anna Bland all preceded him in death. Surviving him are his wife of the home; three sons Billy Bland of Shawnee, Bobby Bland of Maud and Jimmy Bland of Choctaw; six daughters, Linda Horn of Midwest City, Lou Ellen Mullings of Maud, Patty Bland of Seminole, Peggy Huff of Choctaw, Charlotte Gregory of McLoud and Pamela Goodin of Davis; one sister Nina Hassell of Holdenville; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers for the service will be Dwayne Bland, Lance Bland, Robbie Horn, Tracy Mullings, Jimmy Bland, Scott Goodin, Phillip Goodin, Casey Goodin and Tony Gregory.

Weylon Holtman Sr.

Funeral services for former Sasakwa resident Weylon H. Holtman Sr. are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Sasakwa Assembly of God Church with Rev. Wesley Martin officiating. Interment is to follow service at Vamoosa Cemetery under the direction of Smith-Phillips Funeral Home. Military Honors are to be performed by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard. Holtman, 65, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005 at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born May 1, 1939 in Childress, Texas to Luther Hilliard and Evelyn Estelle (Owens) Holtman. He married Loretta Rae Barnes on Nov. 24, 1964 in Pampa, Texas. Mrs. Holtman passed from this life on May 14, 2004. Holtman attended Pampa High School and moved to Ada in 1991 from Sasakwa, where he attended the Sasakwa Assembly of God Church. He owned and operated Holtman Tank Trucks for a number of years. Holtman also served in the United States Navy for four years. Some of the things that he loved to do were collecting coins and fishing. His wife, Loretta Holtman, and his father, Luther Holtman preceded him in death. Surviving him are his two sons, Weylon Holtman Jr. of Ada and John Gower of Pauls Valley; three daughters, Lesia McNutt of Ada, Charlotte Roulston of Sasakwa and Pam Holtman of Ada; his mother, Evelyn Estelle Holtman of Abilene, Texas; one brother, Lynn Holtman of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Joyce Waddell of Abilene, Texas and Annette Shortridge of Phoenix, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren. Pallbearers for the service will be Greg Durham, Monty Durham, Marty Durham, Jimmy Durham, Jeremy Cargill and Wade House. The honorary pallbearers will be Derek Landreth, Hiram Roulston III and John C. Gower.

Ellis David Casteel

Funeral services for Seminole resident Ellis David Casteel are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel. Pastor Harold Turner will officiate, with burial to follow in Little Cemetery. Casteel died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Seminole Estates Nursing Home. He was born Feb.11, 1915, in Pottawatomie County to Joe and Sadie Mae (Michael) Casteel. He was a farmer and a lifelong member of the Little community. He attended the Church of Christ at Little. He married Louise Klaus on July 14, 1991, in Eufaula; she survives him, of the home. Other survivors include three sons, J.D. Casteel, Earlsboro, David Casteel, Konawa, and Virgil Casteel, Eufaula; two daughters, Nora Dunlap and Teresa Lanier, both of Oklahoma City; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Faye Casteel, who died Dec. 31, 1990. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, three brothers and two gandsons, Johnny Casteel and Roger Don Leaf. Casketbearers will include Joe Don and Rodney Casteel, Alan Dunlap, Dustin Lanier, Preston Lynch and Marty Don Hudson.
