Randy (Reno) Jacob Stearns
Randy Stearns, 26, of Molalla, died due to injuries suffered in an ATV accident on May 12, 2006. Randy was born March 2, 1980, in Oregon City. He worked as an excavator for Jim Smith Excavating. He was married to Christine Hampton Stearns for two years. Randy lived in the Molalla/Beavercreek area all his life. He is survived by his wife, Christy; son, Cartter; daughters, Lilly and Holly; his father, Glen Stearns; step-mother, Kathy; mother, Michelle; step-father, Pete Strance; and brother, Christopher Stearns. Rusty (Carmen) O. Rogers
Carmen O. Rogers, 77, of Molalla, died at home on May 14, 2006. Rusty (as she was known by) was born May 13, 1929, in Burns to Clarence W. and Rosethel Whitmarsh Mace. She was the oldest of five children (from Clarence Mace?s second family). She was raised in Burns and married Phillip Retherford on July 1, 1946, and in 1948 they had a son Norland. They divorced in November 1949. In October, 1951 she married Malcolm L. Rogers and together they had four children. Rusty worked her early years on ranches. She acquired her brand rafter-c-bar in 1942 until the present. She moved to Portland in 1954, then to the Molalla area in 1957. She worked for several years in the Christmas tree industry and worked 20-plus years at Avison sawmill as a chain puller and tallyman, until her retirement in 1996. Rusty was always a hard worker and enjoyed crocheting, playing the piano, building fences and taking care of her animals. Her greatest joy in life was her family and helping others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Rogers; brothers, Louis Mace, Baldwin Mace, Dewayne Mace and Gene Mace; a daughter, Kiara Gee; and son-in-law, Glenn Moehnke. She is survived by daughters, Icel Moehnke, Shaunee Chancellor; sons, Luchion M. Rogers, wife Kathy, and Jack (Norland) West; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters Imogene Reinkemeyer, Carita Dawson, both of Burns, and Carlan Haines of Echo; and a brother Fredrick Mace of Battle Mountain, Nev. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2006, at the Nazarene Church of Molalla. Burial will be at Adams Cemetery. A potluck reception will follow the service at the church. Vane Ellis Harper
Vane Ellis Harper, 82, of Hubbard, died May 5, 2006. He was born in Molalla and attended Molalla High School. He served in the Navy and was a veteran of WWII and member of the American Legion and VFW in Aurora. He married Peggy O?Connor Nov. 15, 1958. He worked as a lumber mill foreman and machine operator at Avison Saw Mill, retiring in 1986. He had lived in Hubbard for the past 40 years. He is survived by his wife, daughters, Lonnil K. Jones of Woodburn, Lori Seaton of Three Rivers, N.J., and Lisa S. McGinnis of Cove; brother, Bill Harper of Molalla; sisters, Evelyn Looney of Woodburn, Doris Arnett or Oregon City, Betty Bates of Milwaukie and Marilun Harper of Vancouver, Wash., and four grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. A private service will be held. Arrangements by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Cornelius Joseph Vandecoevering
Cornelius Joseph Vandecoevering, 82, died May, 13, 2006. Neil was born on Aug. 31, 1923, in Verboort to John and Josephine Vandecoevering. He was one of nine children. He married Hattie Cecelia Groeger on Nov. 26, 1946. They began their family, and soon moved to a small dairy farm near Monitor, where they lived until 1969, when they moved to their hop farm at McKee. They farmed there until 1987 when he ?retired.? Becoming restless, he bought timberland in the Colton area and started his new career, forester, which became his passion. Being in his ?woods? brought him great joy and peace, and it was a place where he said ?he felt very close to God.? His faith, his wife, and his children were the most important things in his life. Neil?s life was full of many occupations and involvements. He was a dairyman, builder, hop farmer, row crop farmer, and tree farmer. He served on boards at local schools and St Mary?s Parish, Mt Angel. Neil was on the original board of directors for Wilco Farmers. He is survived by his wife Hattie, sons Don (Jacquie), John (Janis), Allen (Terri), Fred (Mary); daughters Joan DeConinck (Ron), Janet Rickman (Bill), and Karen Suing (Shawn); all in the immediate area. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and his sister Selma Welter. He is preceded in death by his son Ken in 1972, his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary?s Church in Mt. Angel and a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Father Taaffe Foundation or the Father Bernard Youth Center. Arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.

Geraldine Eugena Becker
Geraldine Eugena Becker, 81, of Molalla died on May 12, 2006. Geraldine Eugena Hordichok was born on Jan. 9, 1925, in Molalla to Paul and Sophia Hordichok. She lived her entire life in Molalla. Geraldine married Everett Becker in 1945. They met while working in the shipyards, and he preceded her in death in 1992. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Rodden in 1999. Geraldine enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends. She loved the outdoors, cooking, sewing and gardening. Survivors include her sons Roger and Russell Becker; sister Annie Olson; brothers George and Walter Hordichok; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be a funeral service on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Macksburg Lutheran Church in Canby.

Dan L. Krantz
AURORA — Dan L. Krantz of Aurora died June 20, 2004. He was 53. A memorial service was held June 25 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Interment will be private. Born Nov. 20, 1950, in Missoula, Mont., he grew up in Montana, graduating from Seeley Swan High School in Seeley Lake, Mont., and attended the University of Montana. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, and retired in 1993 after 20 years as a staff sergeant. He lived in Washington, Germany and Arizona while serving in the U.S. Army, and moved to Aurora when he retired. He had worked as a steel cutter and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, the outdoors, and spending time with his grandchildren. Dan married Loretta Bartnes-Butler on May 28, 1977, in Lincoln City. He is survived by wife Loretta of Aurora; mother Judith Lease of Richmond, Va.; children Shane Krantz of Richmond, Va., Erin Krantz of Aurora, and Chad Krantz of Aurora; brothers Gary of Spokane, Kelly Krantz of Tacoma, Ted Lease and Milt Lease of Deer Lodge, Mont., Gary Lease of Yakima, Wash., John Lease of Ellensburg, Wash., Dennis Lease of Missoula, Mont.; sister Amy Carter of Albany; and three grandchildren. Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Nieves R. Lopez
GERVAIS — Nieves R. Lopez, 77, of Gervais died June 21, 2004. A funeral Mass was held June 25 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment followed at St. Paul Cemetery. Born Aug. 5, 1926, in Asherton, Texas, she moved to St. Paul in 1956, then to Gervais in 1970, to California in 1991, and back to Gervais in 2000. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She married Jesus Lopez in 1943 in Natchez, Miss., and they made their home in Texas. She is survived by husband Jesus of Gervais; children Lucia Bustamante of Gervais, Ernestina Perez of San Jose, Calif., Jesus Lopez of Gervais; brother George Ruiz of Texas; sisters Josephina Cruz and Lidia Martinez, both of Texas; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Suzanne Dittler Pleiss
MOLALLA — Suzanne Dittler Pleiss of Molalla died June 22, 2004, of natural causes. She was 63. A memorial service has been held. She was born Jan. 16, 1941, in Portland. Suzanne married Robert L. Pleiss on May 1, 1965. She worked for title companies during her career and was a supervisor for Ticor Title Co. before retiring. She was a member of the Mulino Lionesses Club. Suzanne was an avid reader and she volunteered in the reading program at Mulino Grade School. She also enjoyed camping and fishing in Central Oregon and taking trips to the Oregon coast. She attended the Good Shepherd Community Church in Boring. Survivors include husband Robert; stepchildren Linda Julum, Russell Pleiss, Barbara Keller and Randall Pleiss; sisters Muriel Dittler and Katherine Thomas; brothers Daniel and Robert Dittler; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Remembrances may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon, P.O. Box 15149, Portland, OR 97293. Mt. Scott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Shirly Ann Bailey
MOLALLA — Shirly Ann Bailey of Molalla died June 20, 2004. She was 76. At her request, no services will be held. She was born to Hubert and Crystal Ivie on Nov. 4, 1927, in Buffalo, Ill. She graduated from Decatur High School in 1945, and moved to Oregon during the summer of 1946. Shirly worked for Meier and Frank as a manager and enjoyed golf, spending time with her friends and work. Her four daughters say she was the most dedicated mother ever. She is survived by daughters Shirly A. Bailey and Donna M. Johnson, both of Newberg, Barbra J. Bailey of Palm Springs, Calif., and Mary Lunceford of Molalla; sister Nancy Turner of King City, Ore.; brother Hal Ivie of Illinois; stepsister Jackie Sue of Decatur, Ill.; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Molalla Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Trautman
PUYALLUP, Wash. — Louise Trautman, formerly of Canby, died June 22, 2004, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash. She was 91. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Canby Christian Church. Entombment will follow at Zion Memorial Mausoleum. She was born Jan. 9, 1913, in Naper, Neb., to Elizabeth and Jacob Boes. Louise Boes married Emil E. Trautman on Aug. 1, 1936, in Medford. They lived in Canby from 1972 until his death in 1995. She worked at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital and Canby Union High School. Louise was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Canby Alliance Church. She had lived in Graham, Wash., to be near her daughter, JoAnn Trautman Harris, since 1996. She is survived by daughter JoAnn and husband Glenn Harris of Graham; son Delton G. and wife Janet Trautman of Roseburg; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by infant son Dennis D. Trautman, daughter Joyce Louise Trautman Roland and husband Emil. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Canby Alliance Church, 900 N. Juniper St., Canby or the American Cancer Society Northwest Division, 0330 S.W. Curry St., Portland, OR 97201. Canby Funeral Chapel is entrusted with services.

Luchion Malcolm Rogers
Luchion Malcolm Rogers, 51, of Molalla died as a result of a car crash on May 16, 2006. Luchion Malcolm Rogers was born on May 18, 1954, in Portland, Oregon to Malcolm and Carmen Rogers. As a young child he moved to Molalla/Dickey Prairie area where he remained until his death. Luchion worked for Savannah Pacific as a millwright. Survivors include his companion Kathy Rogers; sons Justin and Travis Rogers and Luchion Hughes; sisters Shaunee Chancellor and Icel Moehnke. There will be a funeral service on Friday May 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Molalla Church of the Nazarene. Molalla Funeral Chapel entrusted with funeral arrangements.

Arden Schoenborn
Arden Schoenborn, 45, passed away in Tillamook on June 7, 2006. Arden was born in Silverton on March 22, 1961, to Ronald and Jane (Wise) Schoenborn. He was a 1979 graduate of Molalla Union High School. He worked in retail for Fred Meyer, Thriftway, Safeway and K-Mart before his purchase of The Mail Box in Tillamook. Arden enjoyed playing sports, loved to boat and waterski, and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He is survived by his mother and father Ronald and Jane (Wise) Schoenborn, both of Tillamook; sisters, Jana Kirkwood of Tigard and Ronda Beyer of Tualatin. A memorial service will be held June 13, at 11 a.m. at Waud?s Funeral Home in Tillamook. There will be a gathering at the Tillamook Swiss Hall immediately following services.
