Leland D. Bloom
BLOOM, Leland D. - Age 88 of Woodburn passed away on April 4, 2001. Leland was born on January 6, 1913 in Roseburg, Oregon. He lived in Roseburg before moving to Woodburn in 1991. He had owned a Texaco station in Roseburg. After retiring he had done seasonal work at resorts. He was a past member of Masonic Laurel Lodge in Roseburg, Scottish Rite, Evergreen Grange and Shriners (past master of all). Leland was a life member of Roseburg Rod and Gun Club and Camera Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography and traveling to desert, having worked in resorts in Arizona and Oregon. He is survived by a daughter Sharon and husband Ron Rogers of Coos Bay; grandson Kevin and wife Mina Heidrick of Beaverton; granddaughter Kristi and husband Ron Zalewski of Summerville; granddaughter Kelli and husband Larry Akin of Wilbur; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Leland was preceded in death by his wife Mildred (Hufham) Bloom on February 14, 2001. Private services will be held. CORNWELL COLONIAL CHAPEL is assisting the family.

Jerry Wayne Broxson
BROXSON, Jerry Wayne - "Heaven will be inherited by every man who had Heaven in his soul......" Jerry Wayne Broxson was born to Evelyn and Sherman Broxson on May 10, 1949. He left us to be with our Lord on April 3, 2001 at the age of 51. Jerry grew up and attended school in the Canyonville area. After graduating from high school, he was employed at Hanna Nickel Mine until he was called to serve his country with the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. Jerry has been special to many and is survived by his daughter, Shilo Hester; mother, Evelynn; stepfather, Dan Roe; sister, Donna and family and brother Marvin and family. It was the wish of Jerry to be cared for by his daughter, Shilo as he fought his battle with cancer. When the Lord called Jerry home, he was surrounded with loving friends Brian Kelly, Tersa O'Neil, Kelly Muir, Anna Long and his son-in-law, Corey Hester. Most of all his dream of being with his precious daughter, Shilo came true, as she held his hand until the end. Services will be held at the Tiller Community Church on Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Evergreen Hospice, Albany, OR. Jerry would now tell us "if you can face the past with acceptance, the present with confidence and the future with expectancy, you have the faith it takes for "your" life's journey."

Melvin "Bud" Delaine Jansen
JANSEN, Melvin "Bud" Delaine - Age 71, a resident of Roseburg, passed on Monday, April 2, 2001, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born January 6, 1930 in Jones Township, South Dakota to Frank and Elva Jansen. He was raised on and began his working career on the family farm in Gregory, South Dakota, instilling in him his great work ethic, sense of community and love of animals. He married Emily Bergman on October 11, 1949. Bud and Emily farmed in South Dakota for several years before moving to Southern California in 1957 where he was a heavy equipment operator. In 1969, the family moved to Roseburg settling in the Roberts Creek area in 1970. He worked various construction, demolition and heavy equipment jobs over the years. Bud lived well, laughed often and loved much. He especially loved a good party, polka music, dancing, a shot of B.V., garage sales, auctions and people. He took special pleasure in sharing his treasures with friends. He always made the time to lend a helping hand where he could, or just sit and have a cup of coffee and chew the fat with friends and neighbors. Bud is survived by his wife of 51 years, Emily; son Bruce (Christie) Jansen; daughters Judy (Don) Noland, Carol (Lloyd) Stephens of Roseburg and Kay Ducheneaux of Winner, South Dakota; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jason, Adam, Kelli, Nancy, Tracy, Bryan, Katie, Brett, Heather and Michael and his great-grandchildren, Dylan and Zachary. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Gregory, South Dakota. Those who wish may pay their respects Friday, April 6, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Bud Jansen to the Mercy Hospice, 2400 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97470 or the charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Taylor's Family Mortuary in Winston.

Elvie Peroni Kendig
KENDIG, Elvie - Age 84, died March 25, 2001 in Roseburg. A native of CA., she was born July 11, 1916. She resided in Sutherlin for the past 15 years, coming from CA. She was preceded in death by husbands Andy Peroni, Keith Kendig and six brothers and sisters. Surviving are daughters Nancy Schnider, Pauline Layman and Sherrill Berry; her son Andy Peroni; one brother; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial was held April 1, 2001 in Sierravill, CA.

Frederick C. Schulze
SCHULZE, Frederick C. - A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 7 for Frederick C. Schulze of Eugene, formerly of Lookingglass, who died March 29, 2001 at the age of 88. He was born March 3, 1913 in Las Animas, Colorado to Herman and Marie (Siemaier) Schulze. He married Helen Ollivant in Lookingglass in 1935. She died January 24, 2000. He moved to Lookingglass from Colorado in 1919. He lived in Eugene from 1935 to 1946 when he returned to Lookingglass. He moved back to Eugene in 1995. He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a boilermaker from 1935 to 1946 and was a rancher and dairy farmer from 1946 until his retirement in 1976. He served as a reserve deputy sheriff in Roseburg and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He is survived by one son, Robert Schulze of Eugene; two brothers Charles Schulze of Lookingglass and Cecil Schulze of Winston; two sisters Bessie Johnson of Eugene and Jane Weisz of Lookingglass; five grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, a daughter, Donna Clark preceded him in death. Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at the Lookingglass Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to the ALS Foundation or the charity of your choice. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

William D. Whitehead
WHITEHEAD, William D. - age 85 of Oakland, passed away April 4, 2001 at a local hospital. He was born January 17, 1916 in Albia,Iowa, to Joseph and Flossie (Carpenter) Whitehead. William joined the Navy after graduating from school and in the late 1930's moved his parents, brother and sisters to Oregon. He retired from the Navy, after serving his country during World War II and the Korean War. William married Mary Taylor in 1943 in Haddonfield, New Jersey. They moved to California with their son and William worked as an engineer in the aerospace industry. Upon his retirement in 1978, they moved to Oregon. William was a member of the Lions Club, he enjoyed gardening and loved to work on electronics. William is survived by his son Joe and wife Linda Whitehead of Oakland; granddaughter Michelle and husband Blake Parnell of Oakland; grandson Patrick Whitehead of Oakland; sisters Lola Johnson of Oakland, Maxine Pearson of Grants Pass and his brother Harold Whitehead of Roanoak, Virginia. William is preceded in death by his wife Mary Whitehead, who passed away in 1988, grandson Will Whitehead, who passed away in 2000 and his parents. Graveside services with full Military Honors, will be Tuesday, April 10, 2001, 1 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Oakland. VFW District 12 Honor Guard will officiate. Marilyn Louise Antonio
ANTONIO, Marilyn Louise - Age 48 of Roseburg passed away Wednesday March 28, 2001 in a Roseburg hospital. She was born October 26, 1952 in Walnut Creek, California to Harry and Arlene (Bell) McKenzie. Marilyn married Stanley R. Antonio on May 20, 1977 in Reno, Nevada. She worked very hard to get her AA degree from UCC in 12 weeks in office management. She worked for the President of UCC College until she had to quit to take care of her husband when he was injured on his job. Marilyn was a loving mother whose reason for living was to take care of her family. She was loved and will be missed. Gone from our touch, never from our hearts. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Antonio of Roseburg, Oregon; her children, Adam Cox and his wife Kim of Pleasant Hill, California, Angelo Antonio of Roseburg, Oregon, Alana Wright and her husband Jack of Seattle, Washington, Nick Antonio of Roseburg, Oregon; 6 sisters and l brother, brother-in-laws, Rick Antonio of Sutherlin, Oregon, Rodney of Spokane, Washington and David Paradiso of Concord, California. Louise Elizabeth Bish
BISH, Louise Elizabeth - 91, of Roseburg, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2001. She was born on Monday, June 28, 1909 in Richmond, Indiana to Albert J. and Alice (Borton) Overman. Louise graduated in 1931 from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She then taught for 2 1/2 years at a private school in Greenwich, Connecticut. On June 1, 1934 in a Quaker ceremony she was married to Raymond Bish. They lived and raised their family in Pendleton, Indiana, and Downers Grove, Illinois. In 1968 they moved to Floria. in 1978 they built a home in Roseburg and for the next 10 years they spent their winters in Florida and their summers in Roseburg. In 1989 they moved to Roseburg permanently. Louise is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Raymond Bish of Roseburg, who is 93. Their children, William R. Bish and his wife Denise of Tennessee, Bob Bish and his wife Karen of Anderson, Indiana, 17 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Private cremation rites have been held under the care of WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY. Louise, the beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother will be greatly missed by all.

William Brimhall
BRIMHALL, William - Age 67, of Winston, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at a local hospital. He was born June 23, 1933 in Garden Valley, Idaho, son of Alvin A. and Ruby G. (Waits) Brimhall. He moved to Oregon with his family at an early age and was raised and educated in Bridge. His family built the homestead using timber they milled themselves. They also harvested ferns, which they would sell. He was united in marriage to Lavonnie "Bonnie" Farmer on August 14, 1954 in Bridge. They moved to North Bend and later settled in Winston in 1967. Bill was employed by the Oregon State Highway Department and worked as a crane operator in bridge repair and construction. He also was involved in the building of the tunnel at Elkton. He retired in 1993 with forty years of service to our state. Bill enjoyed working and built his own sandblasting service. He also enjoyed his shop where he would fabricate things such as motorcycle trailers. Bill liked dune buggies, but he always had a lookout for antique trucks. He had been a member of the Winston-Dillard Lions Club. He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Risley & her husband Ron Jr. of Roseburg, a son, Raymond Brimhall and his wife Trisha of Dillard. Two brothers, Harley Brimhall & his wife Peggy of Coos Bay and Harold Brimhall & his wife Pat of Walla Walla, WA. Four grandchildren, Reanne, Zachary, Michael and Jessica, also survive him as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, his parents, a sister Ethel and two brothers, Alvin and Howard. Memorial services will be conducted at Taylor's Family Chapel on Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Laver.

Marjorie Martin-Williams
MARTIN-WILLIAMS, Marjorie - A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wilbur United Methodist Church Monday, April 2nd at 11AM; and at the Forest Grove United Methodist Church in Forest Grove Oregon at 2PM on Saturday, February 7th for Marjorie Martin-Williams who passed away Monday March 26th in Forest Grove, Oregon. Marjorie was born in Vinton, Iowa on July 19, 1904 to Jefferson Sherman Wheeler and Clara Louise Miller. She was one of nine children. Her family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1923, then to Santa Clara, California. She married Raymond Martin in 1936. They had two children, Raymond William, Jr. and Marjorie Emily. In 1960 they moved to Roseburg, Oregon. Mr. Martin passed away in 1961. She retired from the Veteran's Administration in Roseburg. Her passion was always music, performing in many light opera productions as well as singing on a local radio station in San Jose, California in the 30s. Marjorie has directed choirs through the years. She was also a 52 year member of the Easter Star, a member of the Roseburg Women's Club and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. In 1982 she married Walter Williams. They were very active in the Wilbur United Methodist Church as well as the Sutherlin Senior Center where Marjorie would often play for sing-alongs. Walter passed away in 1992. Marjorie continued to volunteer her time to seniors through RSVP. In 1995 Marjorie moved to Forest Grove, Oregon to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Marjie & Phil Meagher. She was again very active as her health would allow in the Forest Grove United Methodist Church. Marjorie is survived by her son Ray and daughter Marjie, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Ruth Klienen in Dixon California, eight grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She will be remembered by her family and friends as the active, opinionated, fun-loving woman she was, and as she remained until the very end of her life. We will all draw our strength from the deep and generous well of her spirit. Remembrances may be given to either the Wilbur or Forest Grove United Methodist Church, or your local Hospice.

Carl Wiles
WILES, Carl - Carl left this world Tuesday, March 27, 2001. He would have been 82 his next birthday. Carl lived a wonderful life. He was the ninth of eleven children born to Henry & Vesta Wiles of Marshall, North Carolina. Carl's mother died when he was a young boy of ten. He spent the rest of his childhood passed between different family members. He barely survived a bout of Rheumatic Fever at the age of ten that left him weak and bald and having to learn to walk again. His older brother claimed it was soup made of squirrel's he hunted which made Carl regain his strength. At the age of seventeen he left his boyhood home in Tennessee to travel west by rail with two friends. After investigating Montana and California, experiencing many different jobs, including working the ship yards, bartending, and to the delight of his children a stint with a carnival. Carl settled in Roseburg, Oregon at the age of 24. In Roseburg he eventually began working at Coon Creek Lumber Company. He met Pat Jackson of Myrtle Creek whom he married August 5, 1950. They moved to Bend, Oregon in 1960 to raise their three children. Carl retired from, Jack Robinson and Son's, as a heavy equipment operator in 1982. After which he and Pat traveled extensively throughout the United States meeting many wonderful new friends. They settled in Sutherlin in 1995 to be near family. Carl's love of the outdoors and wonderful sense of humor combined with his natural talent for storytelling kept family and friends entertained for years. His memory will live forever in the hearts of wife of fifty years, Pat Wiles, and their three children, Carla Pitman of Sumner, Washington, David Wiles of Eugene, Oregon and Wayne Wiles of Carson City, Nevada. He is also survived by four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his sister Reba Pierson of Vancouver, Washington. If desired, in lieu of flowers the family request contributions to be made to hospices in Carl's memory.

Harry Dale Creamer
CREAMER, Harry Dale - 83 of Roseburg passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2001 at his home. He was born September 27, 1917 in Murray, Nebraska to Harry L. and Isabella B. (Young) Creamer. Mr. Creamer served in the US Air Force during WWII. Following the war he worked in the home construction business. He later worked as a cost analyst for the government for 16 years until his retirement. On September 15, 1982 in Albuquerque, New Mexico he married Patricia Dempsey. The Creamer's moved from Albuquerque to Roseburg in 1985. Mr. Creamer was a member of the Roseburg Country Club and the Good Sam Travel Club. He enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Survivors include his wife Patricia Creamer of Roseburg; daughters Denise Quillan and Deanna Dill both of California and Jackie Rough of Virginia; son Michael Creamer of Washington; stepsons Donell Dempsey of California and George Dempsey of Ireland; sisters Eleanor Wheeler and Mildred Maddix and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Chaplain Les Albjerg will officiate. Graveside services will follow within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Dale's memory to the Lou Gehrig Foundation and these may be left at WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES who is in charge of arrangements.

Edna Lynn Baker
BAKER, Edna Lynn - Was born December 21, 1907 in Cohasset, Minnesota to Christopher and Mable Baker. Edna was the 4th of ten children. Her youngest brother, Robert of Cohasset survives while brothers Arthur, George, Charlie, and sisters Ethel, Marguerite, Mabel, Hazel and Almyrta have preceded her in death. On September 1, 1926 Edna married Harry A. Watkins. To this union Vernon, Virginia & Virgil were born. Harry and Edna enjoyed hunting and competing in trap shooting where both excelled. Edna enjoyed sight seeing and taking movies and slides as they traveled. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and mother. In 1944 the Watkins family moved to Bremerton, WA where Harry and Edna worked in the Navy yards for one year. They returned to Cohasset, then moved to Orvid, CO where Harry worked for the Sugar Beet Company. Upon his retirement they came west to Richland, Oregon to be near Virginia, her husband Bill and their family. There they were contacted by a representative of the Christian Children's Home in Boise, Idaho and asked to be "Temporary House Parents" (temporary led to over 20 years service there). It was during this time that Edna audited a number of classes at Boise Bible College. Harry passed away on September 9, 1972. In June of 1976 Edna became the wife of Edgar Nichols, a retired minister and missionary. In 1980 they moved to Myrtle Creek, OR to live near and then with Virginia and Bill. Edgar died on January 29, 1996. After suffering a second broken hip, Edna lived the past five years with, and received tender loving care at the Foster Home of Ormon and Maggie Beard in Winston. She moved into her heavenly mansion on March 31, 2001. Edna was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her children; Vernon and his wife Helen Watkins of Sioux City, Iowa, Virginia and her husband Bill Humphreys of Sutherlin, Oregon and Virgil and his wife JoAnn Watkins of Palmer Lake, CO; 11 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. She is also is survived by six step-children; John Nichols, Dorothy Nichols, Phyllis Mills, Andrew Yee, Lois Bangs and Reuben Nichols, a number of step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions in lieu of flowers to either the Freedom Fund of Boise College or the Christian Children's Ranch. A memorial service led by her grandson, David Humphreys, will be at the Oakland Church of Christ on Sunday, April 8, 2001 at 4:00 p.m. Mountain View Memorial Chapel and Funeral Alternatives Crematory at Myrtle Creek is assisting the family.

Avis A "Peggy" Knaggs
KNAGGS, Avis A "Penny" - 83 of Roseburg, passed away March 29, 2001 at a local foster care home. She was born Avis Athalie Agee, March 8, 1918 in Roseburg to Fred and Annie Laurie (Kent) Agee, the second of four children. She was known to all of her family and friends as Peggy. She was a life long resident of Roseburg and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1937. Peggy married William Russell Knaggs on January 12, 1941 in Roseburg. They raised a son and daughter. She was very involved with her children's activities, serving as a 4H Leader, Cub Scout Leader, Blue Bird Leader and P.T.A member. Peggy was active in County Home Extension Programs and taught knitting and sewing to adults and the handicapped. She looked forward to the monthly luncheons with her lady friends from the 1937 graduating class of Roseburg High School. Peggy and her husband Bill were involved with Oregon Mr. Long Ears, the Umpqua Harness Driving Club and the Special Olympics Equestrian Program. Peggy is remembered as a good mother, a loving grandmother, a very spunky and caring lady, she believed in total involvement with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her brother Ron Agee of Roseburg, son Larrie R. and wife Fran Knaggs of Goldendale, Washington, daughter Nancy and husband Rick Helmboldt of Roseburg, grandchildren: Tami Kennedy, Tina Virture, Kent Knaggs, Keri Croft and Ryan Helmboldt, great grandchildren: Lexi and Amanda Kennedy, Taylor and Cameron Knaggs, Bryce Croft and Kyler Helmboldt, many nieces and nephews, loving care providers Bob and Cecilia Losacco of Walk With Me foster care home and her friends at the foster home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Knaggs, a sister Betty Sheldon of Prineville, a brother Harold Agee of Roseburg and her parents. There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, April 6, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at Long & Shukle Chapel, Roseburg. Pastor Tom Crabb of the Brotherhood of Christian Cowboys of Junction City will officiate. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that contributions be made to Mercy Hospice, 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97470. Cremation rites have been held. Wayne Justen McCauley
MCCAULEY, Wayne Justen - Age 94 of Roseburg passed away at his home April 2, 2001. He was born in Neola, Iowa on May 5, 1906 one of seven children, born to John and Olive (Hough) McCauley. On November 19, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, Wayne married Charlotte Coffelt. They settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa until 1946 when Wayne and his family moved to Roseburg. Wayne was a truck driver in the retail lumber industry until his retirement. He was a life member of the Knights of Phythias and the Moose, he enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping with his Moose buddies and loved to play golf. Wayne is survived by his son and daughter in law John and Ellie McCauley of West Linn, granddaughter and husband Michell and Paul Manhart of Tualatin, grandson and wife Michael and Molly McCauley of Battle Ground, Washington, great grandchildren Rachel Manhart, Garrett, Miles and Kevin McCauley, sister Irene Bell of Roseburg. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte McCauley, his brothers, Dale McCauley, Herbert McCauley, Leon McCauley, and his sisters, Mable Drake, Ester Dolan, Ellen Bentz and his parents. Visitation will be Thursday, April 5, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Long & Shukle Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, April 6, 2001, at 1:00 p.m. at Long & Shukle Chapel. QUINE, Kenneth George - 83 of Roseburg passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in a local care center. He was born Wednesday, August 1, 1917 in Riddle, OR to George & Hildagard (Brown) Quines. George was a descendent of the pioneer families, the Riddles & Quines who settled in Southern Douglas County in 1851. He grew up and attended school in Roseburg, graduating with the class of 1933. George served his country in the US Army as a radio operator. On Saturday, May 8, 1948 in Roseburg he married Lois Cassel. In the early 1950's, George began with the US Postal Service where he worked for many years. Through the years, he enjoyed golf, fishing, good food, growing tomatoes and working on his property. George will be remembered for his marvelous sense of humor and that he always tried to be a pleasant person even in the face of adversity. He is survived by his son- David C. Quine of Roseburg; five nieces, one nephew and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Lois and two sisters- Phyllis Ostrander and Betty Amason. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 6, 2001 at 2:00 PM in Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Russell of the Roseburg First Christian Church. Ritualistic participation by Laurel Mason Lodge #13 A.F. & A.M. Private interment will be in Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Edna Rose Frye
FRYE, Edna Rose - Age 70, of Roseburg, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2000 in a local foster home, following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 28, 1930 at Goodridge, Colorado to Henry and Maggie (Hardwick) Phelps. Edna attended school in Boardman, Oregon and graduated from high school in Madras, Oregon. For many years she lived in the Roberts Creek area (of Roseburg). Edna drove school bus for the local school district for many years, retiring in the late 1980's. She is survived by her mother, Maggie Phelps, a brother Bud Phelps, sons; Melvin White, Raymond White, Steve White all of Roseburg and Douglas White of Redmond, Oregon, grandchildren; Cammie, Bud, Kevin and Tracy, great grandchildren; Callie, Korbin, Chance, and Camron. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2000 at 11:00 am at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Chaplain Jim Osborne will officiate. Private cremation rites have been held. WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES is in charge of arrangements.

CAROLYN SUE KEENEY
KEENEY, Carolyn - Age 48, died Sunday, August 6, at home in Camas. She was born October 23, 1951 in Fredonia, Kansas. Carolyn grew up in Mt. Shasta, CA and then moved to Roseburg, OR. She lived there for 21 years before moving to Camas 2 years ago. Carolyn worked as a Home Care Provider for many years. She collected antiques and unicorns. She also loved to bake. Carolyn is survived by her mother Ruth Ball, of Roseburg, OR; sons, Jerry and Adam Keeney of Winston, OR, Andy and Daniel Keeney of Camas, WA; daughter, Judith Acker of Cottage Grove, OR; brother, Odis Ball of Los Angeles, CA;sister, Pat Court of Lewiston, ID; special companion, William Troy Boslund of Camas; and 4 grandchildren. A funeral service will be Thursday, August 10 at 11 am at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas, WA. A graveside service will be Friday, Aug 11 at 10:30 at Roseburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Aileen N. Kuester
KUESTER, Aileen N. - Age 79, of Lookingglass, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 7, 2000. She was born April 22, 1921 in French Lake, Minnesota, daughter of Felix and Selma (Sillanpa) Nelson. She was raised and educated in Minnesota and was united in marriage to Oswald Kuester on April 8, 1938. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Aileen was very active, along with special friends Patty Blagen and Pauline Clayton in Christian and pro - life affairs as well as conservative political activities. She believed that her efforts, however small, would help make this a better place for her family, friends and future generations to come. Her absolute faith in Jesus Christ was nurtured in her early years by her own "Grandpa Sillanpa", a Finnish hymn writer and pastor of a little church in French Lake, MN. This same faith carried her through the death of two children, her parents, two brothers, her husband, who died on May 10, 1987, and many friends. Aileen, while trusting Christ for results, constantly tried to show God's loves through her own faith, efforts and prayers to her ever-expanding circle of friends and family. Mom, Grandma K., Friend Aileen, we all agree with the angels, that you have heard form the Lord, "Come now good and faithful servant, enter thru into the joy of thy Lord". She is survived by two daughters, Judy Buchta and her husband Rudy of Roseburg, Linda Zamora and her husband Manny of San Bernardino, CA, four sons, Larry and his wife Joy of Irvine, CA, Harlon and his wife Vicky of Ashland, Don Kuester of Lookingglass, Scott and his wife Lana of Roseburg, nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, two brothers, Alden Nelson and Jimmy Nelson, two sisters, Ardyce Moos and Eleanor Johnson, all of Minneapolis, MN. Memorial services will be conducted at th St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Roseburg on Saturday, August 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Phillip Brandt. Private interment will be at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of TAYLOR'S FAMILY CHAPEL. Memorial donations in Aileen's memory may be made to the St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 750 Keady Ct., Roseburg, Oregon 97470.

Julie Vae Pritchard
PRITCHARD, Julie Vae - Age 42, of Portland passed away in Portland due to injuries she received in an automobile accident. Julie was born May 5, 1958 in Roseburg, Oregon to Eugene and Marvis (Major) Keitzman. Julie lived in Roseburg from 1958 until she moved to Eugene in 1997 and then to Portland in 1998. She was educated in Roseburg attending Roseburg High School. Julie was employed with Costco until being transferred to Portland in 1998. Julie loved the outdoors and enjoyed plants, animals and especially spending time with her children and dog on the riverside. She was a past member of the West Side Christian Church in Roseburg. She is survived by her parents, Eugene and Marvis Keitzman of Eugene, Oregon; two sons, Jacob and Jerry Pritchard both of Dillard, Oregon; a brother Brad Keitzman of Roseburg, Oregon; two sisters, Konni Baker and Jodie Merrill, both of Kelso, Washington. Graveside services will be held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens, Roseburg at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 14, 2000. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements 541-686-2035.

Louis Frank Smith
SMITH, Louis Frank - Passed away August 5, 2000 at his home near Riddle. He was born on February 5, 1934 at Mountainaire, New Mexico to the late Lester and Pearl Ruff Smith. He was married to Alma Ruth Holland in Amarillo, Texas on July 6, 1954. He served with the US Army for 1956 to 1958. Louis attended West Texas State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. He worked at ASRCO in Amarillo for 1955 to 1972. In 1972 he moved to Riddle, Oregon with his family where he was employed by the Hanna Nickel Mine Company for 17 years and then the Glenbrook Nickel Company for 4 years. He is survived by his wife Alma Ruth (Holland ) Smith of Riddle, one son Joe Brent Smith of Tri City, Oregon, one daughter, Laurie Renee (Smith) and her husband Matthew Eric Fenn of Riddle, Oregon, three grandchildren, Lindsay Nicole Johnson, Erica Marie Fenn and Matthew Dylan Fenn all of Riddle, Oregon, one brother Lester LeRoy Smith of Oakland, California and one sister, Elene Monfred of Tempe, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl Ruff Smith and by father Frank Lester Smith. Louis enjoyed his music, leather working and reading. He was dearly loved by all and will be greatly missed. At the request of Mr. Smith there will not be any services scheduled. MOUNTAIN VIEW MEMORIAL CHAPEL is assisting the family.

Jack Blansett
BLANSETT, Jack - Age 64, passed away July 28, 2001 in Gladstone, Oregon. He was born in Heavener, Oklahoma on August 25, 1936. On June 15, 1982 He married Lola LeBlanc. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was Co-Manager of the Gladstone Mobile Homepark, previously had run gas stations and worked in Plywood Mills. He has lived in the Portland area since moving there from Winston in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Lola Blansett of Gladstone, Oregon, two daughters, Lorna Blansett and Sharon Barnes both of Winston; a brother, Bud Blansett of Lafyette, Oregon; 3 sisters, Lorraine Ragan of Sherwood, Oregon, Clara Langham of Cottage Grove, Oregon and Oleta Gibbens of Lafayette, Oregon; 3 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 5, 2001 at 1:00 PM at the Recreation Hall at Gladstone Mobilehome Park. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society. Stephen R. DesBiens
DesBIENS, Stephen R. - 56, was born on October 18, 1944 in Altadena, California and died July 27, 2001 in Aurora, Oregon. As a long time resident of Roseburg he was self-employed as a concrete contractor for over 30 years. He served from 1963 to 1983 in the Oregon Army National Guard retiring as a Major. He was an avid racing enthusiast and snowmobiler. Steve was a wonderful father to his two children and a noble example of hard work, courage and conviction. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Steve's parents preceded him in death in 1995. He is survived by his two children, Jon DesBiens of Salem and Christina Culberhouse of Eugene; ten brothers and sisters, Nanette Gruba of Madras, John "Buzz" DesBiens of Roseburg, Adele Mock of Grants Pass, Loretta Scott of Aurora, Patricia Welch of Canby, Valerie Cregger of Aurora, Noreen Newcombe of Vancouver, Washington, Dennis DesBiens of Roseburg, Cicile Stanley of Oriental, North Carolina, Christopher DesBiens of Molalla; and three grandchildren, Loren Culberhouse, Spencer DesBiens and Ryley Culberhouse. A funeral will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on West Stanton Street in Roseburg on Friday, August 3, 2001 at 3 PM. Private inurnment to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
