Ethel Robinson
May 12, 2003
Ethel Marie Chilson Robinson, age 77, wife of Floyd K. Robinson of South Hill, Wyalusing RR3, Orwell Township, PA, passed away on Monday afternoon, May 12, 2003 peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
Born June 28, 1925 at East Herrick, she was the youngest daughter of the late Walter and Christine Graham Chilson. She was a graduate of LeRaysville High School, Class of 1945. On Oct. 22, 1945, Ethel marriage her loving husband, Floyd K. Robinson and they have celebrated 57 anniversaries together. She loved her family greatly and was known community-wide for her baking and cooking. Ethel decorated wedding and birthday cakes for several years and was always asked to furnish pies to local fire company celebrations. She seldom liked to go out and eat because she didn’t think they could cook or prepare food the way she liked it. She loved doing things for family and friends, square dancing, garage sale shopping and playing cards.
She was a member of the Herrickville United Methodist Church, the UMW sewing club and also was in charge of memorials at the church.
Surviving are her husband, Floyd; four sons, Clifford F. and wife, Linda, Walter C. and fiancee, Sandy, Elton D. and wife, Patti, Milton G. and wife, Cindy, all residing on South Hill; a daughter, Loretta S. and husband, Jim Stevens of Macedonia; seven grandsons, Sean, David, Matt, Jake and Jeremy Robinson and Lancer Stevens, who will serve as pallbearers at the funeral and also, Tim Matoushek from Lebanon; four granddaughters, Christie Arey, Tina and Shannon Robinson and Lynette Stevens; six great-grandchildren, Madison, Ali, Kenny, Aubrey and twins, Avery and Emery; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fenton and Lois Robinson of Rochester, NY; a sister-in-law, Janet Chilson of Apalachin, NY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Robinson, Chilson and Green families.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Christine Chilson and Clarence and Olive Robinson; her sister, Mildred; her brother, George; her sister, Dorothy and her husband, Everett Green and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Curtis and Bette Robinson.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Helen Learn, pastor of the Herrickville United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jane Pykus officiating.
Interment will follow in the South Hill Cemetery in Orwell Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Memorial Hospice, One Hospice Drive, Towanda, PA 18848, the Herrickville United Methodist Church, in care of Janice Sutton, RR3, Box 309, Wyalusing, PA 18853 or to the HOPS Ambulance Association, in care of James W. Seipler, RR1, Box 280, Rome, PA 18837 in Mrs. Robinson’s memory.

Charles Oswald
May 9, 2003
Charles Raymond Oswald, age 87, of Sugar Run, PA, passed away, surrounded by his loving family at home on Friday, May 9, 2003. He was born in Elkins Park on Jan. 19, 1916, son of the late Charles and Christine (Wolcott) Oswald.
Raymond enjoyed camping, hunting, was an avid builder and enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. He was a veteran of the Navy.
Survivors include his children: Edwin (Diane) Oswald of Burlington, Donald (Glenda) Oswald of Pineville, MO, Jean (Ralph) Bailets of Sugar Run; brothers, Robert Oswald of Warrington, Ken Oswald of Lancaster, Richard Oswald of Jim Thorpe; sisters, Melva Deaves of Philadelphia, Dorothy Brown of New Jersey; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary (Woodrow) Oswald; a son, Raymond; sisters, Betty Foran and Ruth Woodrow; brothers, Edwin, Claire, Al, Nelson and Howard Oswald.
Friends called at the Vickery Funeral Home, Inc., 110 W. Main St., Troy, on Wednesday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral was held at the funeral home at 12 noon immediately following visitation, with the Rev. Charles Bishop officiating. Interment was in the Mountain Lake Cemetery .

Mary Jane Kravitz
May 8, 2003
Mary Jane Kravitz, of Dushore, PA passed away on May 8, 2003. Her parents were the late Edwin L. and Julia Klem Cole of Lopez.
Jane was born in Muncy on Aug. 31, 1933. She graduated from the Turnpike High School, a member of the class of 1951, where she represented the school as the Laurel Queen. She marriage Daniel Kravitz in St. Vladimir’s Church on May 18, 1952. Last year, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
After her marriage, she began traveling throughout the country as Dan pursued his career in professional baseball. They moved 32 times until they retired from baseball and Jane became a beautician. She operated a shop out of her home in Dushore for 38 years. She was a wonderful, generous, beautiful woman who always put others ahead of herself. Her cooking and genuine hospitality were known to all.
Jane was a member of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church in Lopez, PA.
She loved her family greatly and they loved her in return. In addition to her husband, Danny, at home, she had three children, Pamela Kravitz Arthur, Muncy Valley, Daniel Cole Kravitz, Dushore and Lisa Miller, Wilkes-Barre. She had two sons-in-law, Ron Arthur and Scott Miller and four grandsons: Tanner Arthur; Nicholas, Tyler and Darren Kravitz; brother and spouse, Edwin and Sandra Cole live in Dushore, and sister and spouse, Kathryn and Robert Hippenstiel, reside in Montoursville and her four nieces, Annette Cole Gill, Sandee Cole Stojanovic, Alexis and Alison Hippenstiel were also a very important part of her life. She was also survived by two daughters-in-law, Karen Merschbach and Amanda Martin and by three special grandchildren, Cameron, Calla and Cassie Martin.
A light went off in her life when her beloved son, Danny, died on Nov. 20, 2002. They are together now.
Burial services were held on Monday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Church, Lopez, with Hieromonk Michael Thier, her pastor, officiating. Interment was in St. Vladimir’s Cemetery, Lopez.
Friends called on Sunday, May 11 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, from 2 to 9 p.m. There was a Parastas at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Robert Brink, Jr.
May 9, 2003
Robert (Hank) Brink, Jr., age 85, a resident of Bradford County Manor, Burlington, PA, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2003 at the Memorial Hospital in Towanda.
He was born on Oct. 10, 1917 in Potterville, a son of the late Robert L. Brink and Cloie Cole Brink.
He had been a lifetime resident of Bradford County.
He was a great sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and time spent making woodcrafts. He loved baseball and played on the Toytown Baseball Team.
He is survived by his sisters, Thelma Fonsetto of New Milford, NJ, Betty (Gerald) Libonati of Towanda, Phyllis Brink of Towanda, Jo Ann Brink of Towanda; several nieces and nephews; by a personal friend, Alberta Cowan and personal friends, Jack and Betty Lou Bennett.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Manley and Donald and a sister, Millie Libonati.*
A memorial service will be held on May 17 in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, at 11 a.m.

Clayton Maryott
May 1, 2003
Clayton M. Maryott, 83, highly-regarded Towanda Funeral Director and resident of 502 Third St., Towanda, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at Memorial Hospital, Towanda.
Born March 8, 1920 in Monroeton, he was a son of the late Clayton H. and Frances Marsh Maryott. Clayton was a graduate of Towanda High School, Class of 1938 and was subsequently associated with the Bradford County Assistance Office in Towanda and the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg until his entry into the U.S. Army in 1942.
During World War II, Clayton served in the European Theatre as a T/Sgt. with the 325th Field Artillery Battalion, 84th Infantry Division. Following his honorable discharge on Jan. 28, 1946, Clayt entered the Eckels College of Mortuary Science in Philadelphia, graduating from there on March 4, 1947. He served his two year apprenticeship with his father’s funeral home in Towanda and became a licensed Pennsylvania Funeral Director in 1949. In that same year, Clayt became a partner with his father in the operation of the Maryott Funeral Home.
Following the death of his father in March of 1952, Clayt continued the operation of the funeral home. On April 19, 1952, he marriage the former Jane White, who assisted him in the operation of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home until January of 1981 when he became associated with James A. Bowen o form the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home. Clayt was the fourth generation Funeral Director of the Maryott Family to enter the funeral profession, following his father, Clayton H. Maryott, his grandfather, Clifford B. Maryott and his maternal great-grandfather, Joseph Marsh.
Clayt was active in many community, civic and fraternal organizations. His main interest in life was in his family and home.
His memberships include:
Christ Episcopal Church in Towanda; past president of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association; Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association; National Funeral Directors Association; past commander of Towanda American Legion Post No. 42; Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568, Towanda; past president of the World War II, Last Man’s Club; past president of the Towanda Rotary Club and was recipient of the Paul Harris Rotary Fellowship Award; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 2191, Towanda; Liberty Corners Grange; Towanda Gun Club; Towanda Country Club; past president of the Quarry Glen Club; Union Masonic Lodge No. 108 F&AM, Towanda; Union Royal Arch Chapter No. 161; Northern Commandery No. 16 Knights Templar; Wysox IOOF Lodge No. 1152; life member of the Franklin Steam Engine Company of Towanda No. 1 and past chairman of the Bradford County Board of Assistance.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Jane White Maryott, at home; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ronald C. Hunt of Towanda RR3; his granddaughter, Stacy C. Hunt of Towanda RR3; a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Albert Ingerick of Wysox; a sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Maryott of Towanda RR1; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ellen Maryott, Marie Williams and Dorothy McCleary and by his brother, William J. Maryott.
The family received friends on Saturday, May 3 from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda. Towanda Elks Lodge No. 2191 held a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A private funeral service was held at the funeral home on Sunday, with the Rev. Allen Hulslander, officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Towanda, with Towanda American Legion Post #42 according military honors.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Towanda Public Library, 104 Main St., Towanda, PA 18848 or to Memorial Hospital, One Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848 in Clayton M. Maryott’s memory.

Brian Graham
May 1, 2003
Brian N. Graham, 27, of Birchardville, PA, died Thursday, May 1, 2003 in Rush. Born Aug. 13, 1975, he was the son of David N. Graham of Birchardville and Kathy Mundt of High Point, NC. He worked in the construction and stone business, last being employed by Don Hohn of Brackney.
He also enjoyed outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents, survivors include sons, David N. Graham of Endicott, NY, Isaiah J. Graham of Birchardville; maternal grandparents, Jack and Mary Kelly of Apalachin, NY; paternal grandparents, Rev. Bernard and Glendora Graham of Birchardville; a brother and fiancée, Brendan Graham and Mary of Apalachin; a sister, Molly Graham of High Point, NC; half-brother, Jacob Mundt of High Point, NC; aunts, uncles and cousin.
Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 3 at the Bartron Funeral Home, Inc., 74 Church Street, Montrose, PA. The family received friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services.

R. Wright Giffin
May 4, 2003
R. Wright Giffin, 87, of RR1, LeRaysville, PA, died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Towanda Memorial Hospital, Towanda.
Born March 5, 1916 in Wyalusing, he was the son of the late Ray W. and Mabel B. [Van Gilder] Giffin. On June 5, 1939 he was marriage to Eula Haire, who survives him.
A graduate of Camptown High School, he was a contractor and the owner of the Giffin Construction Company. He was an elder and member of Rushville Presbyterian Church.
Additionally, he was a Director of LeRaysville Branch of County National Bank, Director of Camp Lackawanna, member of the LeRaysville Lodge #471 F&AM, LeRaysville, and was a member of the former Wyalusing School Board.
He enjoyed being a pilot and flying and wintering in Florida.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick C. and Bonnie Giffin of RR1, LeRaysville; granddaughter, Susan A. Giffin of Aachen, Germany; grandson, Steven T. Giffin, a student a Lehigh University, and cousins, Irene Sherwood of Tunkhannock and Fred Jones of New Jersey. A son, Thomas Giffin and sister, Ruth Durkin predeceased him
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at the Bartron Funeral Home, Inc., a Selected Independent Funeral Home, 74 Church St., Montrose. The family received friends on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
