Chester J. Acker
Chester Joseph Acker, 89, of New Cumberland, PA died Thursday 11/22/2001 in his residence.
He was a retired Agent for Howard Hanna-Detweiler Realty, Camp Hill where he was honored for his productivity by being awarded a lifetime membership in the President's Club. Upon his retirement in 1999 he was one of the Harrisburg Area's oldest active realtors. Prior to his association with realty, he was an agricultural engineer with the former Louden Machinery Co., Iowa and designed dairy barns and was involved in the nation's first solar heated poultry houses for the Pennsylvania State University, State College, PA. He was a graduate of Albany (NY) High School and was a former Boy Scouts of America Leader. He was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland where he was a former Sunday school teacher and youth fellowship coordinator for nearly 40 years; he was a member of West Shore Lodge #681, F&AM, Camp Hill, PA; Harrisburg (PA) Consistory; Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg; West Shore (PA) Rotary Club where he was instrumental in the development of its Girls Leadership Conference; the National Society of Agricultural Engineers.
He was born 10/16/1912 in Tyler, TX to the late Arthur Chester & Effie Elizabeth (Roemer) Acker.
He was the widower of Helen Marie (Golden) Acker and is survived by 4 daughters, Marilyn N. Frantz of New Cumberland, Carolyn L. Fry of Sun City Center, FL, Sherri M. Harmon of York Haven and Lori Angela Paneboeuf of Laurel, MD; a sister Dorothy M. Sagendorf of Venice, FL; 2 brothers, Harold K. Acker of Albany, NY and Donald T. Acker of Bonita Springs, FL; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 11 am Monday 11/26/2001 in his church with the Rev. Robert A. Graybill, his pastor officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp. Viewing will be from 10 am until time of service Monday in the church.
Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to his church at Third and Bridge Sts. New Cumberland, PA 17070.

Elmer E. Altland, Jr.
Elmer E. Altland, Jr., 87, of York Haven (Newberry Twp.) died Wednesday January 23, 2002 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired Assistant Superintendent of Roads for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in addition to being a former foreman for the Fairview Twp. Highway Department. In addition, he worked in the electrical department for Bethlehem Steel Corp., Steelton Plant and was a farmer. He attended Redland Valley Brethern in Christ Church, York Haven where he was a former Sunday School teacher and an avid reader of the Bible.
He was born 11/4/14 in Newberry Twp. to the late Elmer E. and Laura (Miller) Altland, Sr.
He was the widower of Alice (Thompson) Altland and is survived by 3 daughters, Judith A. Keefer of Mechanicsburg, Patricia A. Linn of Fairview Twp. and Laura Beth Nelson of Fairview Twp.; 2 sons, David T. Altland of Newberry Twp. and P. Daniel Altland of Fairview Twp.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 am Saturday 1/26/2002 in his church with the Rev. Philip D. Keefer, his son in law and Pastor Stephen M. Lane, his pastor officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Lewisberry.
Viewing will be from 9:30 am until time of service Saturday in the church.
Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland is entrusted with arrangements.

Harriet M. Bannan
Harriet M. Bannan, 81, of Mechanicsburg, died Friday, November 2, 2001 at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA.
She was a former interior decorating seamstress in the greater Harrisburg Area; a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Camp Hill.
She was born March 11, 1920 in Shamokin, PA, to the late James S. and Evelyn (Whiteman) McFee.
She is survived by her husband, Alonzo M. Bannan; two daughters, Malinda B. Wright, Delran, NJ, and Evelyn B. Miller, Hershey; a brother, James B. McFee, Palm Coast, FL; a sister Jean Wistar, Williamsburg, VA; a grand daughter, Sara M. Wright, Philadelphia; nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10am Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with the Rev. J. Stewart Hardy, her pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
There will be no viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Edwin F. Bates
Edwin F. Bates, Sr., 67, of Etters, Fairview Twp. died Friday 11/16/2001 in Harrisburg Hospital.
He was retired from Fruehauf Corporation, Middletown and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of AARP and enjoyed baseball.
He was born 3/26/1934 in Milton, PA to the late Filmore S. and Edith E. Bates.
He is survived by his wife Helen G. (Shenck) Bates; a daughter Michelle of Lebanon; a son Edwin F., Jr. of Lebanon; 4 step daughters, Helen Ilyes of York, Carol Sharts and Judy Brown, both of York Haven, and Linda Melhorn of Sun City West, AZ; 3 stepsons, James Grossman and Terry Volovski, both of New Cumberland, and Michael Geissinger of Etters; 2 brothers, Arlie Bates of Milton and Ronald Bates of Rome, NY; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10:30am Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Tri County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp.
Viewing will be from 10-10:30 am Tuesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association of PA, 3544 Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Mildred T. Beaver
Mildred T. Beaver, 84, of Lower Allen Twp. died Sunday, December 30, 2001 in her residence.
She was a retired bookkeeper for the former Glance TV & Appliance, Lemoyne and a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
She was born March 29, 1917 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Samuel J. & Mary C. (Hare) Smith.
A sister, Hilda Simmers of Mechanicsburg, and several nieces and nephews survive her.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 am Tuesday January 8, 2002 in her church with the Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence her pastor as celebrant.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland is handling arrangements.

Stanley J. Bohenick
Stanley J. Bohenick, Jr., 80, of New Cumberland, died Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a WWII Army Air Force Veteran. He was a retired Insurance Agent from Metropolitan Life Insurance and worked part time after retirement for Karns Quality Foods Limited, West Shore Plaza. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7415 and American Legion Post 143, all of New Cumberland.
He was born December 17, 1921 in Shenandoah to the late Stanley J. and Julia Marcavage Bohenick.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta M.; three sons, Thomas F. of Harrisburg, Stanley J., III of Mechanicsburg, and Frank T. of Westminster, CO; three daughters, Janet Euker of Loveland, CO, Theresa M. Usewicz of Middletown, and Marie Dotts of St. Paul, MN; a sister, Dolores Muscalus of New Cumberland; several nieces and nephews; sixteen grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday at his church with Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, his Pastor officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Viewing will be from 8:30 to9:30am Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland.
Memorial Contributions may be made to his church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.

Virginia Mae Brunner
Virginia Mae Brunner, 79, of Camp Hill and formerly of New Cumberland died Saturday 11/17/2001 in her residence.
She was retired from the former Greenberg's Department Store, New Cumberland.
She was born 3/29/1922 in Lemoyne to the late Bruce G. and Lottie Mae (Anderson) Snyder.
She was the widow of Clair Robert Brunner and is survived by 2 daughters, Sandra L. Criswell of Stafford, VA and Karen L. Worthington of Roswell, GA; a sister Kathryn R. Eichelberger of Linglestown; a granddaughter Linda Lee Worthington of Auburn, AL.
Services will be held 2pm Tuesday 11/20/2001 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
Visitation will be from 1:30-2pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Association of PA 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
