Sean D, Downey
Sean D. Downey, 42, of Newport died Thursday, January 31, 2002 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was an accomplished musician playing and teaching banjo and hammer dulcimer. He had been a songwriter and performer in the Blue Grass Band High Strung; was active in Perry County Council of the Arts and Buffalo Enterprises, Inc. and was instrumental in the construction of the performing arts stage at Little Buffalo State Park. He was a member of the Dancer's Workshop of Harrisburg;
He was a banquet server at Country Club of Harrisburg. He also previously worked as an investment banker for Keystone Financial and stockbroker for Prudential and Merrill Lynch. He was an environmental activist and member of TMI Alert. He was an avid hiker and runner.
He was born March 26, 1959 in Queens, New York City to the late George Allen and Eileen Frances (Lowery) Downey.
His wife, Melinda; a daughter, Shannon Rebecca Downey at home; and a sister, Kelly Ann Keiner of Millsboro, DE, survive him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Saturday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland has charge of arrangements.

Melvin C. "Mel" Dunlap, 66, of Camp Hill died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at his home.
An Army Veteran, he was a retired Tradesman Instructor from the Pennsylvania Bureau of Corrections, Camp Hill. He was a member of Immanuel Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Mechanicsburg and the Friday Morning Greenery Coffee Club. He enjoyed bowling, computer games, NASCAR, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He was born July 3, 1935 in Mechanicsburg to the late Melvin and Alma (Bricker) Dunlap.
He is survived by his wife, Faye D. Dunlap; two sons, Melvin W. of Dover and Brian E. of Shiremanstown; two sisters, Maude Millhouse of Fayetteville and Shirley Kellison of Hanover and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10am Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., New Cumberland. Burial will be in Slate Hill Mennonite Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
Viewing will be from 6-8pm Monday at the funeral home.

Verena B. Eiffe
Verena B. Eiffe, of Lemoyne died Saturday, March 2, 2002 in Carolyn Croxton-Slane Residence a service of Hospice of Central PA, Susquehanna Twp., PA.
She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; past board member of the Harrisburg Bridge Club; and a Gold Life Member of the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League).
She was born in Stacyville, Mitchell Co., Iowa to the late Henry & Mary (Simon) Blake.
She was the widow of Thomas V. Eiffe and is survived by2 sisters, Adella Radke of Waukegan, IL and Alice Dewar of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday 3/5/2002 in her church with the Rev. Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence, her pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be Friday 3/8/2002 in Our Lady of the Desert Cemetery, Tucson, AZ.
There will be no viewing or visitation.

Mary Rebecca Fetterolf
Mary Rebecca Fetterolf, 92, of Mechanicsburg and a native of Valley View died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at her home.
She was a retired seamstress having worked at several garment factories in the Valley View area. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.
She was born December 27, 1909 to the late John and Ida (Harner) Ressler.
Her first husband, Charles H. Bryan; second husband, Mark Fetterolf; and son, Charles H. Bryan, Jr. also predecease her. She is survived by her daughter, Anna Mae Brosius of Mechaniscburg; daughter-in-law, Ellen Bryan of Valley View; sister, Naomi Smeltz of Wilmington, DE; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday at her church. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Schuylkill County. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service.

John W. Fogleman, Jr.
John W. Fogleman, Jr., 60, of New Cumberland, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
A Viet Nam Army Veteran, he was a Registered Nurse for the State Corrections Institute in Camp Hill. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Blain, and a member of SEIU Local 1199.
He was born July 9, 1941 in Loysville, Perry County, PA to the late John W. Fogelman, Sr. & Anna G. (Stewart) Fogleman of Blain.
He was the widower of Gladys L. (Smith) Fogleman. Two sons, Michael W. Fogleman of Dover, PA; David J. Fogleman of Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Christine M. Newsome of Aviano, Italy; one brother, Frank L. Fogleman of Chambersburg, PA; one sister, Linda Fogleman of Kingwood, WV; and one grandson, John W. Fogleman, III survive him. One grandson, Harrison Xavier Fogleman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 18, 2002, at the funeral home with The Rev. Richard D. Schoenly officiating. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery, Blain, Perry County, PA.
Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the funeral home.

Mary Gifford
Mary Gifford, 98, of New Cumberland, PA, died Thursday, January 3, 2002, at West Shore Heath and Rehab Center, East Pennsboro Township.
She was a retired employee of the Albany Casting Company, Voorheesville, New York; a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland; West Shore Senior Citizen's Center, New Cumberland; and enjoyed gardening.
She was born August 27, 1903, in Alexandria, PA, to the late Michael and Kathryn Solytk.
Her husband, Wayland R. Gifford and two nephews survive her. Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Tuesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be private.
Viewing will be 12:30-1:30pm Tuesday in the funeral home.

Robert R. Gross
Robert R. Gross, Jr., 78, of Allendale, Camp Hill and formerly of Bethlehem died Monday March 4, 2002 in Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
He was a retired Night Manager for Moore's Lumber Yard, Allentown; a WWII Navy veteran; and attended Muhlenburg College, Allentown. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg; VFW, national post # 14000; American Legion Post #143, New Cumberland; B.P.O. Elks Lodge, Bethlehem; H. Stanley Goodwin Lodge #648 F&AM, Bethlehem; Lehigh Consistory, Allentown; Araba Temple Shrine, Fort Myers, FL; and an honorary member of the Florida Sheriff's Association.
He was born 12/26/23 in Hazelton, PA to the late Robert R. & Margaret (Weir) Gross, Sr.
He is survived by his wife Louise (Scott) Gross; a son Robert R. Gross, III of Allendale, Camp Hill, PA; a sister Dorothy Delp of Bethlehem; and 2 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:30 am Thursday 3/7/2002 in Bethlehem Memorial Park, Bethlehem, PA. There will be no viewing or visitation.
