David G. Grimes
March 29, 2006
David G. Grimes of New Cumberland died Wednesday March 29, 2006 in Harrisburg Hospital. He spent his 57 years on Earth touching the lives of many through his efforts as a loving husband, dedicated father and true friend. His hard work and giving will continue as his legacy lives on.
He was a Business Analyst for Highmark Blue Shield and a graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, Robesonia and Shippensburg University. David was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; Lowther Manor Lodge #781 F&AM, Camp Hill; and Team in Training, a fundraising organization for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Additionally, he was a CanSurmount Counselor and an American Cancer Society Volunteer. He was an avid cyclist and personal trainer. He was born March 14, 1949 in Reading to Ruth Wint Grimes and the late John Grimes.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife Kathy (Kaufman) Grimes; a daughter Kiersha N. Whitehead, son-in-law Brett and their daughter Alexis, all of Montoursville; a son Scott, daughter-in-law Heather and their children Lilly and Carter, all of Coronado, CA; 2 brothers, James of North Ridgeville, Ohio and John of Womelsdorf; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday April 3, 2006 in his church, 228 Bridge St. New Cumberland with the Rev. Robert A. Graybill, his pastor officiating. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp. Visitation will be one hour prior to service Monday in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to either Vickie’s Angel Walk, 511 Bridge St./P.O. Box 213, New Cumberland, PA 17070 or to the American Cancer Society, Capital Region Unit, 3211 N. Front Street, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Jerene "Jerri" J. (Forry) Harshbarger
March 31, 2006
Jerene J. “Jerri” (Forry) Harshbarger, 69, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
She retired as an underwriter for Phico Insurance Company, Mechanicsburg. She was a member of Ambassadors Bible Church, Manchester, played BINGO and loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Harshbarger was born July 15, 1936, in Port Trevorton, Snyder Co., the daughter of the late Oscar R. Forry and Geraldine M. Reichenbach. She was the widow of Marlin E. Harshbarger, Sr. and was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy M. Harshbarger and a sister, Lennis Palm.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey R., Howard E., and Marlin E., Jr., all of New Cumberland; two daughters, Kathy J. Gross of Carlisle, and Shae E. Svec of Harrisburg; three brothers, John B. Reichenbach and James E. Reichenbach, both of Thompsontown, and Robert E. Reichenbach of Lewistown; two sisters, Darla A. Stuter of Mifflintown, and Debra N. Civitts of Belleville; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with Pastor Richard Stambaugh officiating. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Fairview Twp. Viewing will be held 6 – 8 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.

Donald W. Miner
April 03, 2006
Donald W. Miner, 78, of Newberry Twp., Etters, died Monday, April 03, 2006, at home.
He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Steelton; a former employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad; he enjoyed woodworking and was an enthusiastic outdoorsman. Mr. Miner was born February 8, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Ira L. and Frances L. (Wittenberger) Miner. He was preceded in death by grandson, Michael A. Miner.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Phyllis L. (Rockey) Miner; a son, Allen E. Miner, Lewisberry; a daughter, Gail D. DiMascio, Etters; three grandchildren, Melissa, Anita, and Todd; two great grandchildren, Cody and Cassie.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with the Rev. David A. Yost, Newberrytown Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Emanuel Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
Viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central PA, PO Box 266, Enola, PA 17025.

Miriam Emily D’Agostino
April 09, 2006
Miriam Emily D’Agostino, 93, formerly of New Cumberland, died Sunday, April 09, 2006, at Homeland Center, Harrisburg.
She was 1933 graduate of Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and had worked as a R.N. in the early 1930’s at the Hershey Chocolate Factory. She was a member of the Harrisburg Hospital Nurses’ Alumni Assn. and one of the oldest members of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.
Mrs. D’Agostino was born October 25, 1912, in Hummelstown, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Holtzman) Duncan. She was the widow of Romeo D’Agostino and was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Duncan.
Surviving are a son and his wife, John A. and Carol M. D’Agostino, New Cumberland; a daughter and her husband, Carol L. and Robert L. Spagnolo, Harrisburg; five grandchildren, John Spagnolo, Robert Spagnolo, Anita Royer, Matthew D’Agostino, and Mark D’Agostino; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, 11 am in her church with the Very Rev. J. Michael McFadden as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp. Viewing will be held 9:30 – 10:30 am Wednesday in Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070, or to Homeland Center, 1901 N. Fifth Street, Harrisburg, PA 17102, or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 301 N. Union Street Middletown, PA 17057.

Mary Louise Nauss
April 9, 2006
Mary “Louise” Nauss, 82, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2006 at the home of her daughter in New Cumberland surrounded by her loving family. While a native North Carolinian, she considered Pennsylvania her home and resided in the Harrisburg area and West Shore suburbs for more than 50 years.
Born in Pittsboro, North Carolina on October 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Estelle (Bland) and Budd Wren Gilmore. She was predeceased by one sister, Rachel Gilmore Rosine and is survived by two sisters, Toni Marley and Peggy Fox (Jim) and brother, Mont Gilmore (Sarah). In addition, she is survived by two daughters, Marie “Ann” Evertts, of New Cumberland and Susan Nauss Whinery (Fred) of Larkspur, CA., and son, Donald W. Nauss III (Sharon) of Troy, MI. Her extended family Tom Bowman (Debra Salem) of Harrisburg, Doris and Harry “Butch” Carroll of Lewisberry, Barbara Harrison of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Sheila Troutman of Holiday, FL. She is also survived by 5 grandsons: Andrew and Michael Whinery, Kevin, Harrison and Hartley Nauss who all fondly and lovingly know her as Nana. Her extended family grandchildren: Cameron Chelsea Carroll who lovingly calls her Noni, and Matthew and Josh Bowman (Chelsea) who have always known her as Gammi. Also, two “great grandchildren”, Saleh and Haven Bowman. Her loving nieces Elisa Sumakaris, Rachel Waugh, Phyllis Redding, and Jamie Poole and nephews, Gregory Fox Harris Marley, and Terry Yow, all of North Carolina.
Louise was an incredibly loving and caring person who without hesitation opened her home and heart to all. Life revolved around others and she was a “safe harbor” for her family, extended family, friends, and anyone needing mothering. She was a true blessing to all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed life, cooking, bowling, and taking care of others. She was very proud of all her “kids”. She leaves behind many good friends and fond memories. She spent her life serving others in the restaurant business, most notably the former Slugg’s Roost, Creekside and Zorba’s restaurants, and was also a former employee of Karns Food Markets. She was also a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church in New Cumberland, PA.
Visitation will be held at Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church in New Cumberland, on Wednesday, April 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., with Memorial services at 2:30 p.m..
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Pinnacle Health Hospice or Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church.

James L. Royer, Sr.
April 15, 2006
James Lowell Royer, 82, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at his home in Bethany Village, Mechanicburg, PA.
He was born October 5, 1923 in Elizabethtown, PA. He was the son of the late Chester and Anna Doster Royer. He was a graduate of Manchester High School, class of 1941, and graduated from Chevrolet Dealer Sons School, Detroit, Michigan. James was a member of the Army Air Force 1942-1946 and also served in the Northeast Air Defense Force 1950-1951. He was employed with the Ammon R. Smith Auto Co. Chevrolet Agency in York, PA. He then purchased the Buick franchise in Harrisburg, PA in 1968 and operated Royer Buick Inc. for 34 years. He served as President of Harrisburg Auto Trade Association, President of Pennsylvania Automotive Association, and was an honorary member and Past-President of West Shore Country Club. In 1986 he received the Time magazine “Quality Dealer Award.” He was recognized for many years as one of the top 60 Buick dealers in the United States. He was also a member of Lowther Manor Lodge 781, Pilgrim Commandery, Zembo Shrine, American Legion, the VFW, and West Shore Baptist Church, Camp Hill, PA.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Allegra Gundel and Jeanne Small. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Loretta E. Bowser, whom he married June 30, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA; his son, James L. Royer, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Harrisburg; a daughter, Cathy E. Royer of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Sara E. and David J. Royer of Harrisburg, Erin E. Armstrong of Harrisburg and Mark E. Bartakovits of Middletown; and one great-grandson, Logan Bartakovits. Also surviving is a brother, C. Holmes Royer of Hudson, Florida.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 20, 2006 at 11 am at his church, 21st and Market Sts., Camp Hill, PA, 17011. Visitation will be held 9:00-11:00 am prior to the memorial service. Arrangements are being handled by Parthemore Funeral Home, Bridge Street, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West Shore Baptist Church or Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, PO Box 266, Enola, PA, 17025.

Leo N. Fabas
April 15, 2006
Leo N. Fabas, 84, of Country Meadows, Hampden Twp. and formerly of Cumberland, RI died Saturday April 15, 2006 in Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.
He was a retired operating engineer for Forte Construction, Warwick, RI and a WWII Army veteran serving with the MP Motorcycle Corps. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, PA and a former member of St. Aidan Catholic Church, Cumberland, RI; a member of Le Foyer Club, Pawtucket, RI; International Union of Operating Engineers Local # 57, RI; and loved motorcycles. He was born March 22, 1922 in Central Falls, RI to the late August and Roseanna (Desjardin) Fabas and was preceded in death by a daughter Jeanne Mello.
He is survived by his wife Beatrice Y. (Lariviere) Fabas; 2 daughters, Susan Stewart and husband Thomas of Hampden Twp. and Theresa Tremblay and husband Paul of Hernando, FL; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday April 20, 2006 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070 with the Rev. Michael McFadden as celebrant. Burial will be at 9:30 am Saturday April 22, 2006 in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI. The family will receive friends at a light luncheon immediately following the mass on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. Theresa Catholic Church or St. Aidans Catholic Church.
