Mary F. Rhodes
Mary Frances Rhodes, 60, of Uniontown, Pa. died peacefully Thursday morning, October 26, 2000, in the Uniontown Hospital with her loving family beside her.
She was born January 22, 1940 in Uniontown, daughter of Benedetta Leonelli of Uniontown and the late Guilio Leonelli.
Mary was a member of St. Therese Roman Catholic Church.
She was a teacher at Marshall Elementary School for 24 years and had taught at Laurel Highlands High School for six years. She held membership in P.S.E.A.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her husband, Doug Rhodes; three children, Teri Lynn Rhodes of Uniontown, Leanne Rhodes Phillis and husband Beau of Uniontown, and Paula Rhodes and fiance Andrew Krzesinski of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandchildren, Troy, Bailey and Cole; her sister, Rita Palya and husband Larry of Uppermiddletown; and a brother-in-law, Kevin Rhodes of Uniontown and son, Hunter.
Mary will be missed by many friends and family.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood today from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30, when a Prayer Service will be held, followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Therese R.C. Church with Rev. Fr. Kenneth Zaccagnini, Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.

Evelyn P. Sanner
Evelyn P. Sanner, 79, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Connellsville, died Thursday in Akron City Hospital, Ohio.
Arrangements are under the direction of Vito C. Martucci Funeral Home, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville.

Earl Chester Savage
Earl Chester Savage, 83, of 375 Mosser Road, McHenry, Md. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2000, at Goodwill Mennonite Home, Grantsville, Md.
Born June 7, 1917, in Hoyes, Md, he was the son of the late Isaac Taylor and Nora Blanche (Kelly) Savage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Parley M. Savage in 1996, and Dayton W. Savage in 1977; and twin grandsons, Jason Allen Lawson and Mark Allen Lawson, Jr. in 1973.
Mr. Savage graduated from Accident High School and the Frostburg State Teacher’s College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He received his Master’s Degree from Western Maryland College and West Virginia University.
He taught school in Garrett County Public Schools for 32 years, retiring in June of 1974.
Mr. Savage was a member of the Maryland State Teacher’s Association, where he held many offices.
He was a former member of Hoyes United Methodist Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, and sang in the choir. He was currently a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
He was also a charter member of the Deep Creek Volunteer Fire Department and past secretary.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine Elizabeth (Wright) Savage, whom he married on Sept. 1, 1945; three daughters, Connie E. Henline and husband Neil of Frederick, Md.; Donna E. Wagner and husband Dale of Oakland, Kathy L. Lawson and husband Mark of Uniontown, Pa.; one son, Lanny R. Savage and wife Judy of Thurmont, Md.; six grandchildren: Kendra Lea Thayer and husband Edward of Oakland, Jill Nicole Takis and husband Joshua of Brunswick, Ohio, Gregory Scott Savage and wife Nichole of Eldersburg, Md., Adam Russell Lawson and wife Hillary of Uniontown, Pa., Carrie Lynn Lawson of Uniontown, Pa. and Neil Lawson Henline, Jr., of Huntersville, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Jessica R. Thayer, Dakota R. Lawson, and Brooke R. Lawson; two sisters-in-law, Gladys M. Savage of McHenry, Md., and Dorothy Savage of Hyndman, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the NEWMAN FUNERAL HOMES, P.A., McHenry, Md. on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Garrett County Memorial Gardens, Oakland. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.
Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Deep Creek Baptist Church, 19879 Garrett Highway, Oakland Md., 21550.

Melvin J. Shaw
Melvin J. Shaw, 68, of Clarksville, Pa. died Thursday, October 26, 2000, in his home.
Mr. Shaw retired from Fort Pitt Bridge.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Wilson Shaw; two sons, Jack B. Shaw of Uniontown and Everett Everhart of Hot Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Patty Ealy of Clarks-ville; a daughter-in-law, Christy Shaw; a son-in-law, David Ealy; five grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leonard Shaw of Millsboro, Robert Shaw of Lanark Village, Fla., and William Shaw of Olney, Md.; and three sisters, Kathleen Deems of Clarksville, Mrs. Robert (Deane) Fidago of Cherry Valley, and Mrs. John (Linda) Skobel of Vestaburg.
A Memorial Service will be held for the family and friends at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at the home of the deceased.

Julia Shimko
Julia (Jay) Shimko, 91, of Perryopolis, Pa. died Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at 8:45 p.m. in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born Sept. 10, 1909, at Star Junction, Pa., daughter of the late Paul and Susan Vasil Stofa.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church of Perryopolis.
Surviving are one son, Richard Shimko of Perryopolis; two nieces, Sonia Kabuta and husband Michael of Mount Pleasant and Betty Drazenovich of Annandale, Va.; and two nephews, Emil Sabolish and wife Virginia of Flint, Mich., and John Senko and wife Agnes of Whiting, Ind.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Shimko on April 16, 1987; a son, Bernard Shimko on Oct. 16, 1999; and three sisters, Helen Besida on Nov. 15, 1974, Anna Sabolish on Sept. 8, 1987, and Mary Askey.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 Independence St., Perryopolis today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Father John T. Euker as celebrant.
Interment, St. Johns Cemetery, Perryopolis.
A Wake Service will be held tonight at 8 p.m.

James O. Soxman
James O. Soxman, 64, of Uniontown, Pa. and Marietta, Ohio, died suddenly Wednesday, October 25, 2000.
He was born Nov. 7, 1935 in Uniontown, Pa., son of the late Harry E. Soxman and Bertha L. Soxman.
Jim, a Uniontown businessman, was the owner of Soxman Photo Service. He was a regional manager of AIMCO Management Company of Columbus, Ohio.
Jim was a member of the Army National Guard and Company Commander of the First Battalion, 110th Infantry of Connellsville and Scottdale. He attended Officers Training School in Fort Benning, Ga. and Houston, Texas. He retired as a Major after 24 years of loyal service.
He was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church for 50 years.
Jim is survived by Virginia Soxman and their three daughters, Susan L. Grice of Belle Vernon, Pa., Jamie Soxman Killian of Medina, Ohio, and Alison Soxman Ware of Uniontown; five grandchildren: Josiah and Noah Grice, Kayla and Corey Killian, and Rachel Ware; and a number of nieces and nephews and close friends.
The family will receive friends in the J. HARRY JOHNSTON FUNERAL HOME, 65 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, Pa. on Monday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Leonard H. Wade
Leonard Henry Wade, 89, of Pittsburgh, and formerly of LaBelle, Pa. passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2000, at William Penn Hospital.
He was retired from Clyde Mine, Republic Steel.
Surviving are his son, Donald R. Wade and wife Shirley of Fairchance; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Isaac (Doc) Johnson and his wife Joyce from Southfield, Mich., Kenneth Johnson and his wife Donna from Pittsburgh, Lloyd Johnson and his wife Pauline from Cleveland, Ohio; stepdaughters, Imogene Johnson, Sonya Clark and husband Charles, and Michelle Owens and husband Fred, all of Pittsburgh; sisters, Helen of Cleveland, Ohio, Mildred Wade of Cleveland, Ruth, and Pauline Burton from Ronco; and sisters-in-law, Pearl Herbert, Betty Weathers; a brother-in-law, Robert Nicholas of Springfield, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Canaan Baptist Church in Hiller, Pa. from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2000, and Monday at 12 noon the hour of service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Law Funeral Home, Brownsville, Pa.

Anna D. Zivnoska
Anna D. Zivnoska, 70, of Denbo-Vesta 6, Pa. died Tuesday, October 24, 2000.
She was born on Sept. 17, 1930, in Vesta 6, Pa., daughter of the late Michael and Mary Fidek Zivnoska.
She retired from Celina Insurance Agency in Washington, Pa.
She is survived by two brothers, Louis R. and his wife Caroline Zivnoska of South Connells-ville, Joseph and his wife Norma Zivnoska of Euclid, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Zivnoska.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Fr. Edward Litavec officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, Brownsville, Pa.

John Bashar
John Bashar, 86, of Fairmont, W.Va., died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Fitzwater’s Gracious Living Care Home, in Fairmont.
In the early years, he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, in Uniontown, Pa. After moving to Fairmont, he became a partner in the Avenue Market with D.A. Brandimarte. He then worked for 38 years, until his retirement with Nationwide Insurance, in Fairmont, as an agent.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Besse Bashar, whom he married on July 3, 1937; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Richard and Diane Bashar of Oakton, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph C. and Betty Bashar of Enola, Pa.; a special cousin; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Friday from noon to 1 p.m., the hour of service.

Nita L. Bobruska
Nita Lee Bobruska, 62, of Silver Spring, Md., and formerly of Carmichaels, Pa., died at 6 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Holy Cross Hospital, in Silver Spring, Md., after a lengthy illness.
She worked as an office administrator for At Home Care Inc., of Burtonsville, Md.
Surviving are her husband, Nick Bobruska, whom she married on Jan. 26, 1957; two sons, Nick A. Bobruska of Gaithersburg, Md., and Rick E. Bobruska of Statesville, N.C.; a daughter, Cindy L. Adams of Carmichaels; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl E. Miller of North Carolina; two sisters, Dee Ruth and Ethel L. Miller, both of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine St., Carmichaels, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m., the hour of services.
