Bertha Kauffman, 97, of Denver, died Wednesday morning in the Ephrata Community Hosptital.
Born in Fritztown, she was a daughter of the late John and Ida (Schlutt) Fisher. Bertha's husband, Vernon Kauffman, died January 13, 1967. Surviving are her children, Fern A. (Evan R.) Frantz of Richland, Richard (Betty Mae Frantz) Kauffman of Denver and June M. (Edwin R.) Kramer of Reinholds; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Mabel Gensemer of Reinholds and Marie (John) Stief of Wyomissing. She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
A housewife, Bertha was a member of Swamp Evang. Lutheran Church, Reinholds and enjoyed baking. She will be sadly missed by her family.
Viewing Sunday 6-8PM in the Roseboro Funeral Home, 533 Walnut St., Denver. Funeral Monday 10:00AM, Viewing 9-10AM in Swamp Evang. Lutheran Church, 275 Swamp Church Rd., Reinholds with Rev. Dennis L. Trout officiating. Interment in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds. The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Bertha's memory to: Hospice of Lancaster County, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

Amos B. Zook
Amos B. Zook, 69, of 3192 Harvest Dr., Ronks, died in Live Oak, FL, on Tuesday, April 5, 2005.
Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late David K. and Hannah Blank Zook.
Mr. Zook worked as a carpenter and more recently he and his wife owned and operated Zook s Homemade Chicken Pies, Ronks. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was marriage to Rachel S. Lapp Zook for 40 years last November.
Surviving in addition to his wife are, 10 children, Priscillam marriage to John Glick, Sadie Mae, marriage to John J. Esh, Stevie J., marriage to Fannie Mae Smucker Zook, all of Gordonville, Leroy D., marriage to Rachel Lapp Zook, Loysville, Chester L., marriage to Linda King Zook, Gap, Naomi, marriage to Steven Stoltzfus, Red Lion, Elmer S., marriage to Frieda Smucker Zook, Narvon, Rose Anna, marriage to Leroy H. King, Ronks, Joseph, marriage to Lillian Stoltzfus Zook, Leola and Dorothy, marriage to David L. Fisher, Paradise; 39 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rebecca Dienner, Gap and Fannie, marriage to Tobias Stoltzfus, Romulus, NY.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Daniel and John and 2 sisters, Sarah Beiler and Annie Ebersol.
Services are on Friday at 11:00AM (EST) at the Ivan Lapp residence, 98 Old Leacock Rd., Ronks. Interment in Gordonville Cemetery. Viewing Thursday Noon until the time of the service at the Leroy H. King residence, 3194 Harvest Dr., Ronks. Please omit flowers.

Dorothea C. Knepper
Dorothea C. Knepper, 86, of Luther Acres, Lititz, formerly of Leola, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at Lancaster General Hospital of natural causes.
Born in Shanghai, China, she was the daughter of the late August and Alfreda Edwins.
A homemaker, Mrs. Knepper worked as a registered nurse for the former St. Joseph Hospital. She received her nursing degree from Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peters, MN and University of California, Berkley.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lancaster and formerly was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Leola. She enjoyed needlework, playing Bridge with friends, and reading, Mrs. Knepper also enjoyed entertaining, and cooking, especially Chinese cuisine. She was a past member of the Leola Women s Club, and Lancaster Medical Auxiliary. She was very active in the American Heart Association.
She was marriage to Dr. Joseph A. Knepper for 56 years last June.
Surviving are 3 children, Annette Backhaus of Brownstown, Joseph C., marriage to Kay Knepper of Lancaster and David M., marriage to Diane Knepper of Moorestown, NJ; 6 grandchildren, Kirsten, Stefan, Mark, Morgan, Allison and Ryan; 1 brother, David, marriage to Cleo Edwins of Minneapolis, MN.
Services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd., Leola, on Saturday at 1:00PM. Interment in the Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00-1:00PM on Saturday at the church. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Helen Mary Margaret (Hofacker) Seemi

Helen Mary Margaret (Hofacker) Seemiller, 97, of Lititz, died Tuesday at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center. Born August 21, 1907, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie (Honold) Hofacker. She was the wife of the late Walter Frederick Seemiller.
Mrs. Seemiller was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a volunteer at the Lutheran Home in Hazleton. She assisted in founding the Christian Women's Club in Strousdburg.
Mrs. Seemiller is survived by her sister, Georgiana Berogatis, of Emerald Isle, NC; 2 brothers, Goerge Hofacker, Laurel Springs, NJ and Richard Hofacker, Anchorage AK; nephew, William Maisch of Alexandria, Virginia and her niece, Mary Gallagher of Pine Hill, New Jersey.
Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Monday at the Chapel of the Good Samaritan at Luther Acres Manor, 600 East Main Street, Lititz with the Rev. Stephen P. Verkouw officiating. The Gundel Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Garber Keener Kauffman

Lois Garber Keener Kauffman, of Landis Homes, Lititz, died Tuesday at Landis Homes. She was born in Mount Joy, PA a daughter of the late Henry F. and Ada Nissley Garber.
She was a retired school teacher and a member of the Mount Joy Mennonite Church.
Her first husband, Clarence Keener, passed away in 1968. She was the wife of Nelson E. Kauffman who passed away in 1981.
She is survied by a brother, Robert Garber of the Landis Homes. She is also survived by the following step children: Rev. Stanlee D. Kauffman, Waynesboro, VA, James Kauffman, Charlottesville, VA, Marcia Kauffman Clark, Tempe, AZ, Harlam Keener, Lancaster, PA and Martha Keener Thomas, New Danville, PA.
Lois is survied by 20 step-grandchildren and 31 step-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 7th, from the West Bethany Chapel of Landis Homes, 1001 East Oregon Road, Lititz, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, April 8th, at 11:00 AM from the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 10 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy with her pastor, Joseph Sherer, officiating.
Private interment for the family only will be friday at 9:30 AM in the Kraybill Cemetery, Mount Joy. Nissley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements, 653-1151.

Franklin H. Miller
Franklin H. Miller, 86, of 2808 Turban Court, Ft. Myers, Florida, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Shellpoint Hope Hospice. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Miller. He lived in Lancaster for 25 years. He graduated from Millersville University in 1940.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jane; two children, Pamela Grosh of Lancaster and Dr. Jeffrey Miller of Estero, Florida; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Frank was an active member of the Shrine for 55 years. He also was a member of the Chapel by the Sea Presbyterian Church. He loved to play golf and boat. Frank was very active in the Shellpoint Community.
There will be a memorial service at the Shellpoint Village Church, April 20 at 2:00 PM.

David L. Smoker

David L. Smoker, 85, of 1 E. Strack Drive., Jackson Twp., Lebanon Co., died Wednesday, 1:15 AM at the home of his daughter, Hannah K. (Smoker) Esh, N. College St., Myerstown of natural causes. He was the widower of Rachel K. (Beiler) Smoker who died April 16, 2001. Born in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Jacob and Barbara (Kanagy) Smoker.
He was a member of the Lebanon District, Old Order Amish and has served as Bishop of the Church since 1982. He was a retired self-employed canner and rusher of chairs.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, Benuel B. Smoker, 1 E. Strack Dr., Jackson Twp., with whom he resided and a son, Eli B. Smoker, Crossville, TN; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; also, 2 brothers, John I. Smoker, Myerstown and Benjamin K. Smoker, Leola (Lancaster Co.); 2 sisters, Hannah K. (Smoker) Stoltzfus, Ronks (Lanc. Co.) and Katie (Smoker), wife of Levi King, Myerstown.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, 10:00 AM from the residence of his grandson, David J. Smoker, 703 Stracks Dam Road, Jackson Twp. Burial will be in the Northside Old Order Amish Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Friends may call from the time of this notice at the late residence (1 E. Strack Dr.).
Hetrick Funeral Home, Womelsdorf is in charge of arrangements.
