Mae C. Peters

Mae C. Kise Peters, 94, formerly of Washington Boro, died Friday at St. Anne's Retirement Community of natural causes. She was the wife of the late John N. Peters who died in 1997. She was born in Washington Boro, daughter of the late Edgar, Sr. and Alberta Olweiler Kise. She was a member of Washington Boro Church of God, a former Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the Mission Society. She also operated a tomato stand in Washington Boro.
She is survived by two daughters: Romaine marriage to Donald Showalter, Landisville; and Betty Ann marriage to Harry Gebhart, Mt. Joy. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Edgar Kise, Jr. and two sisters: Carrie Leschke and Jean Morrison.
Funeral service will be held at Washington Boro Church of God, 15 Rockfish Street, Washington Boro, PA on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James K. Scott, officiating. Interment in Washington Boro Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Arrangements by the John E. Kraft Funeral Homes, Mountville/Columbia.

George Daniel Whiskeyman
George Daniel Whiskeyman, 89, of Laura Lee Blvd., Leola, PA died Monday morning at the Lancaster General Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles David and Sophia Sissler Whiskeyman. He had worked in the stock dept. of Phillips Ford in Manheim, PA for 14 years, retiring from the United States Air Force Reserve after 20 years of active service in December 1960, having been assigned with the 98th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (ADC).
He saw service in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He is survived by eleven nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by a sister Mildred McMongle and two brothers Robert C. and Earl Whiskeyman.
A private graveside gathering of family will be held at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Fred F. Groff Inc. A Life Celebration Funeral Home.

Robert E. Spohr

Robert E. Spohr, 85, of 521 W. Second Ave., Apt. 1003, Lititz, died September 14th at Moravian Manor, Lititz after a long illness. He was the husband of Lorraine Harrison Spohr to whom he was marriage for 58 years. A 1941 graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Spohr started his career as an accountant with Kroger Supermarkets in Cincinnati. During his career he managed food production facilities for Schraffts in New York, Food Fair in Philadelphia, Servomation in Lancaster, and Wampler-Longacre in Souderton, PA, retiring in 1987. In retirement he was active with SCORE in Lancaster and IESC internationally.
Born in Cincinnati, he was the son of the late Arthur and Caroline Spohr. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed travel, gardening, and spending time with family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sally S., wife of Lee B. Hawthorne, Lititz; a son Dr. Mark H., husband of Deborah Larson Spohr, Tahoe City, CA; 4 grandchildren, Brian Hawthorne, Lancaster, Julie Hawthorne, Milpitas, CA, Anne Spohr, San Diego, CA, and Laura Spohr, Santa Barbara, CA; and a sister, Ruth Mellinger, Aurora, CO.
A Memorial Service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 1801 Oregon Pike, Lancaster on Saturday, September 18th at 11:00 a.m. Private interment at the convenience of the family in the church memorial garden. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Please omit flowers. Alma R. Housel
Alma R. Housel, 92, Chatham, IL formerly of Landisville, PA died Monday, September 13, 2004 at 11:25 PM at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL. She was born May 13, 1912 in Girardsville, PA to Edward and Harriet Miller Roberts. She marriage John C. Housel March 13, 1947. He preceeded her in death in 1986 along with several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Housel was a member of the Chatham Presbyterian Church and Senior Moments Group. As a young woman, she modeled clothing and bathing suits. During WW II she served as a hostess for the Stage Door Canteen in Philadelphia for the soldiers while on leave. She worked as a secretary at the Hempfield High School District in Landisville, PA. She is survived by two Daughters: Wendy R. Housel and Donna L. (husband, David) Metzger; two grandchildren: Megan E. and Brian D. Metzger all of Chatham, IL. Several nieces, nephews and cousins including Harriet Roberts of Long Island, NY. Cremation rites have been accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004 from 1:00 until time of memorial services at 2:00 PM at Chatham Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Joe Eby officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt. Joy, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sangamon County Branch of the Arthritis Foundation, 801 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL 62702. Staab Polk Memorial Home in Chatham is serving the Housel family.

Florence L. Campbell

Florence L. Campbell, 93, of Audubon Villa, Lititz, died Tuesday at Ephrata Community Hospital. She is the wife of the late Joseph Campbell and is survived by a daughter, Judith L. wife of Nelson K. Schlegelmilch of Ephrata; 2 grandsons, Jeffrey N., husband of Jennifer, Jay W. and 2 great grandsons. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Simpson Muschert. She was a licensed practical nurse in the Philadelphia area for many years. She was of the Protestant faith, a member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Elizabethtown and volunteered at the Lancaster Co. Library for 18 years. Life Celebration services from Spacht Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad St., Lititz on Saturday, Sept. 18th at 10:30 a.m. Viewing: Saturday from Spachts from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial: Rothsville Lutheran Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Leah S. Smoker, 90, of 336 S. Kinzer Rd., Apt. B, Paradise, died Monday, September 13, 2004, at Fairmount Homes after a brief illness
She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Stoltzfus Glick.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Mine Road Amish-Mennonite Church, Kinzers.
Her interests included quilting, especially for benefit auctions; canning foods and packaging clothing for worldwide humanitarian aid.
She was the widow of Benjamin Smoker, who died in 2003.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Anna Ruth wife of Dan Lapp of Pedricktown, NJ, Elsie wife Paul Beiler of Paradise, Kathryn wife of Edward Jay Miller of Plain City, OH, 2 sons, Daniel Smoker fiance of Jeanne Ryan of Downingtown, Jay husband of Susan Shellenberger Smoker of Manheim, 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Amanda Smucker of Gordonville, Barbara wife of Isaac Dienner of Hagerstown, IN, 1 brother, Isaac Glick of New Danville.
She was preceded in death by 5 sisters Katie Blank, Sadie Smoker, Sue Lapp, Miriam Miller, Anna Miller, and 2 brothers Jonas, David Glick.
Services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Mine Road Amish-Mennonite Church, Mine Rd., Kinzers. Interment in the adjoining Cemetery. Michael S. Esh, Jr., 36, of 434 S. Belmont Rd., Ronks, died Monday, September 13, 2004, after an accident on his Paradise Township farm.
He was the son of Michael and Sadie Miller Esh of Strasburg.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He was marriage to Hannah G. Lapp Esh for 15 years last December.
Also surviving are 6 sons, Benuel, Joseph, Daniel, Michael, Paul, Emanuel Esh all at home, 2 daughters, Sadie, Anna Esh both at home, 8 brothers, Daniel husband of Sadie Beiler Esh of Delta, Jonathan husband of Emma Stoltzfus Esh of Oxford, Elmer husband of Mary Fisher Esh of Kirkwood, John M. husband of Sara Esh Esh, Christian husband of Elizabeth Fisher Esh, Ephraim husband of Barbara Stoltzfus Esh, Paul husband of Katie Kauffman Esh, Emanuel Esh all of Strasburg, 2 sisters, Leah wife of Joseph Fisher of Kirkwood, Elizabeth wife of David Blank of Oxford.
Funeral will be from the late home on Wednesday at 11:00AM (EST). Interment in Bart Cemetery, Georgetown. Friends may call at the late home from the time of this notice until the time of the service. Please omit flowers. Furman Home for Funerals, Leola.
