Luella B. Bartsch
July 21, 1921 - May 22, 2004
Luella B. Bartsch, 82, of 55 South Green Acres Circle, Akron, Lancaster County, PA, died Saturday morning at 2:00 AM in Maple Farms Nursing Center, Akron, where she resided the past 12 days. Her death followed a 5 week illness. Born in Adamstown, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Erma K. (Brendle) Weinhold, and was the widow of Paul E. Bartsch who died June 3, 2001. Luella was a member of The Worship Center, Leola, where she was active in the Care Group of the church and enjoyed traveling. She was employed by Terre Manufacturing at their Akron facility for a number of years. Surviving is a daughter, Sandra Y. (Bartsch), marriage to former State Representative Terry R. Scheetz, Stevens, PA; 2 sons, John C., marriage to Linda (Bauder) Bartsch, Womelsdorf, PA; and Scott D., marriage to Cindy L. (Imhoff) Bartsch, Ephrata, PA; 6 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; also a brother, Paul H., marriage to Mickey (Althouse) Weinhold, Mohnton, PA. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Erma W. Fassnacht, and a brother, Clarence J. Weinhold, Sr.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, May 25, 2004, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors.
There will also be a viewing on Wednesday morning, May 26, 2004, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM from The Worship Center, 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601, where services celebrating Luella's life will follow with the Reverend Amos Dienner and The Reverend Leon H. Denlinger officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Ephrata, Lancaster County, PA, beside her late husband.

Lucy E. Beck
August 12, 1927 - May 6, 2002
Lucy E. Beck, 74, of 475 Wabash Road, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died Tuesday morning at 3:15 AM in the emergency room of Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Charlotte (Royer) Reese, and was the wife of Lester C. Beck for 40 years on April 30th. She had retired in 1989 after 42 years of employment with the former Ephrata Shoe Company. Lucy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Stevens Fire Company. She was a collector of teddy bears and Coca Cola Trademark Items, and enjoyed knitting and fishing. Surviving in addition to her husband is a son Robert K. Beck, Ephrata; a step-daughter, Eleanora, marriage to Kenneth Young, Lewes, DE; 2 granddaughters; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Rayford Reese, Brownstown, PA. Preceding her in death was a sister, Virginia Palm, and 3 brothers, Octavius, Valentino and Orville Reese.
Lucy's viewing will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2002, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM from our funeral parlor with the service beginning at 10:00 AM, The Reverend Blair Nixdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, PA.
The family asks that rather than flowers, contributions in Lucy's memory be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, Suite 1100, New York, NY 10016.

Selmer S. Bair
September 20, 1921 - January 11, 2005
Selmer S. “Sellie” Bair, 83, formerly of Adamstown, Lancaster County, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at 4:55 PM in Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, Lancaster County, where he resided since September 30th. Born September 20, 1921, in Adamstown, he was a son of the late William L. and Katie L. (Snyder) Bair, Sr. He was a member and former trustee of Immanuel Evangelical Congregational Church, Adamstown. Sellie began butchering at age 5 with his uncle and worked many years for Roy Shober Meats, Denver, Lancaster County; and retired after 25 years in the shipping department of Glen-Gery Corporation of Ephrata and Reading. Following retirement he was employed part-time by Weaver’s Markets, Adamstown, until September 2003. An army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific and received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupation of Japan Medal. He was a life member of the Adamstown VFW, a member of the Lancaster County Sportsman’s Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, trap shooting and his loving family. Surviving is a daughter, Linda L. Kramer, Denver ; a grandson, Chris Buck, Denver; a great-grandson, Bradley Buck, Denver; 2 brothers, Richard S. “Doc”, husband of Jean (Texter) Bair, Vinemont; and Willard J., Sr., husband of Ruth (Miller) Bair, Fivepointville; and 3 sisters, Marcella S. Steffy, Denver Nursing Home; K. Lenora Adams, Adamstown; and Peggy E., wife of Leon Texter, Fivepointville. He was preceded in death by a brother, William L. Bair, Jr., in 1992.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 14, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our parlors. The ceremony celebrating Selmer's life will be held on Saturday morning, January 15, 2005, at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend Douglas W. O'Brien, officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, Lancaster County, PA, with military honors presented by Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard of Lancaster.

Eleanor L. Carroll

Eleanor L. Carroll, 79, of Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community and formerly of Scotland Road, Quarryville died Wednesday evening at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
Eleanor was a clerk at the first Ferguson and Hassler Store that was located on State Street in Quarryville. In her later years she was a homemaker. She was an over 50-year member of St. Paul's Church in Quarryville. Also Eleanor was a charter member of the Robert Fulton Fire Company's Ladies Auxiliary. Some of Eleanor's favorite things were camping, traveling (especially to the mountains) and being a Baltimore Orioles Baseball fan.
She was born in Quarryville, the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Nora Groff Snyder. Her husband, Joseph F. Carroll died in 1993. Eleanor is survived by 4 sons: Joseph C. marriage to Sally of Lancaster, Richard G. marriage to Linda, of Quarryville, Barry L. marriage to Wanda also of Quarryville and Dennis L. of Elizabethtown. Also there are 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Edna Eckman of Quarryville. 2 brothers: Roy and Charles and 2 sisters, Fannie and Lillian preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. from St. Paul's Church, 1 W. 4th St., Quarryville with the Pastor Larry Rineer officiating. Interment will be in the Quarryville Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Sunday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 from Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, 227 W. 4th St., Quarryville. Anyone wishing to make a contribution, can make it in Eleanor's memory to St. Paul' Church, 1 W. 4th St., Quarryville, PA. 17566.

James Chambers Bush

James Chambers Bush, 68, of 143 West Vine Street Shiremanstown, PA., and formerly of Manheim, died Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital Harrisburg following a brief illness.
Born in Camden, New Jersey he was the son of the late Edwin M. and Lillian E. Chambers Bush.
For many years James worked as Director of Labor and Employee Relations for the U.S. Navy Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg. Following retirement he worked several years for the PA State Department Of Public Welfare. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting. His interests included theater, reading English history, music, and traveling to England.
Surviving are a daughter, Carol A. wife of John I. Blanck of Manheim.
James was a beloved uncle of the following nephews and nieces, Edwin M. Bush III of De Barry, Florida, John I. Blanck Jr. of Washington D.C., Susan Bush wife of Michael Conyac of De Barry Florida, Christine Blanck wife of Marty Hepler of Palmyra, Jennifer Blanck of Arlington, Virginia. Also surviving is a Sister In Law Hope Bush of Ormond Beach Florida., great nieces and one great nephew.
James was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin M. Bush Jr.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery Rapho Township, PA. There will be no viewing. Please omit flowers. Those desiring may send contributions in James s memory to the Salvation Army 131 South Queen St. Lancaster, PA 17603. Elizabeth K. Wenzel

Elizabeth K. Wenzel, 90, formerly of Ephrata, died at Fairmount Homes on Thursday following an illness of several years.
Born in West Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Fisher Wenzel.
She was employed for 39 years at the former Yorktowne Manufacturing of Ephrata, as a sewing machine operator retiring in 1980.
A member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity of Ephrata, she enjoyed embroidery.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggy I. Wenzel of Ephrata with whom she formerly resided; a sister, Mamie Mentzer of Kissimmee, FL; and nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Wheat Ridge Chapel of Fairmount Homes, 219 Cats Back Rd., Ephrata, with her pastor, Rev. Henry E. Herbener officiating. Interment will follow in Center Union Cemetery, Terre Hill. A viewing will be held at the chapel on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions in her memory may be sent to the Alzheimer s Assoc., 2001 N. Arlene G. Harting, 78, of Denver, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Thursday night in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center.
Arlene was the wife of Rev. Eugene S. Harting. They celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on March 12th. Surviving are a son Paul E. h/o Grace Martzall Harting of Denver, and a daughter Eugenia F. w/o Ronald Gruber. 4 Grandchildren and 2 Great-Grandchildren. A brother Ralph G. of Lititz, & sisters Minerva G. w/o Earl Eberly of Rothsville, and Dorothy G. w/o Marvin Klopp of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by brother Carl and Alfred Martin.
Born in Stevens, she was the daughter of Eli W. and Minnie Getz Martin. A homemaker, Arlene enjoyed sewing, gardening, & making quilts. Arlene was a member of Hahnstown U.Z. Church, Ephrata.
Viewing Monday, 7-8:30 PM at the Roseboro Funeral Home, Sixth and Walnut Streets, Denver. Funeral Tuesday, 10 AM in Hahnstown U.Z. Church, Glenwood Dr. Ephrata, with a viewing from 9-10 AM, Rev.
