Marty Johns

Marty Johns, 59, of Lititz, died Friday morning at the Essa Flory Center of Hospice of Lancaster County, after a brave 9-month fight against bone marrow cancer.
Marty taught reading and language arts at Lampeter-Strasburg s Martin Meylin Middle School for 30 years, and retired in June. She was dearly loved by her family and friends, and was known for her wit, charm, spunk, and love of people. She had a healthy sense of humor, an unending curiosity for the world around her, and a spirit of playfulness that endeared her to her family and friends. In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Marty loved. travel, Broadway musicals, reading, and summers at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
She was born in Allentown, the daughter of the late Jack and Margaret Nonnemacher. She graduated from Millersville University, where she met her husband, Fred Johns, of Lititz. They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on August 19, together with their sons, Josh, of Washington, D.C.; Chris, of Memphis, TN and his wife, Michele.
In addition, she is survived by a stepfather, Harvey Hasen, of West Chester; a stepmother, Joy Althouse, of Ephrata; a sister, Christine Hasen, of West Chester; and a brother, Mark Hasen, of Newtown Square.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at the Lititz Moravian Church, 8 Church Square, Lititz on Thursday, September 23rd at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is being established in her name at the Lampeter-Strasburg School District. Contributions may be made to Martin Meylin Middle School; Box 428, Lampeter, PA 17537, Attention: Marty Johns Scholarship Fund. Spacht Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Funeral Home"

Lester W. Martin

Lester W. Martin, 86, of 464 S. Farmersville Rd., Ephrata, died Saturday night at his home. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth N. (Weaver) Martin. They observed their 65th anniversary on June 18.
Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Abram W. and Lizzie (Wenger) Martin.
He had worked at Pendu Manufacturing, Inc. following his retirement from farming, which he had done for most of his life.
He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are sons Lester, Jr. marriage to Marie (Feister) Martin, East Earl; Harlan marriage to Frances (Martin) Martin, Troy; E. Phares marriage to Marie (Garman) Martin, Lititz; Carl marriage to Gladys (Lapp) Martin, Port Royal; a daughter Anne marriage to Samuel B. Martin, Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis W. marriage to Nettie (Zimmerman) Martin, New Holland; and a sister, Emma marriage to Paul Rutt, Ephrata.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, L. Wade Martin, a brother David W. Martin and a sister Mary Groff.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with further services at 9:30 AM at Weaverland Mennonite Church with Bishop Amos G. Martin, Bishop Ray Weaver, Amos K. Martin and Richard Burkholder officiating. Interment in the adjoining Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8:30 PM. Kindly omit flowers.

Moline Greer Graybeal

Moline Greer Graybeal, 86, of Quarryville, died on Saturday at her home. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Greer, and the late Willis C. Graybeal.
Mrs. Graybeal was a Homemaker. She enjoyed reading, sewing and traveling.
Born September 7, 1918 in TN, daughter of the late James and Lutishey Smith Age. She is survived by: 7 children Louise, Cecil, and Joe, all from PA; Jean from FL; Bill, Linda, and Joyce from MD. In addition, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Brothers Robert L. Age of SC and William E. Age of GA.
Funeral service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. with Chaplain Fran Carr officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the service. Interment will be in the Conowingo Baptist Church Cemetery.

Janet G. Lauver

Janet G. Lauver, 75, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim, formerly of 334 Ruby St., Lancaster, died Sunday from complications due to Alzheimer's disease. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Gertrude Young Hallacher. She was a bake shop clerk at the Weis Market at the Manor Shopping Center for 11 years and worked in the School District of Lancaster lunch rooms for many years.
She is survived by two sons; Steven P.; husband of Shari G. Lauver of Mt. Joy and David B.; husband of Sallie B. Rihn Lauver of Lititz.; 2 grandsons, Douglas P. and Gregory S. Lauver; and a brother, Lester; husband of Charlotte P Hallacher of Salem, SC. She was predeceased by a sister Shirley Zeone. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Pleasant View Retirement Community Auditorium at 11:00 AM with the Paul F. Keefer officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Floral tributes will be accepted. Tina M. Gordner

Tina M. Gordner, 36, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at York Hospital. She resided at 327 Norway St., York, with her mother, Betty L. Elliot, and with her companion, Kim Marie Hill.
She was a Protestant, and worked as a nurse s aide with Helpful Hearts of York. She enjoyed scrapbooking and collecting ceramic cows.
She is also survived by her father, Hiram R., h/o Tina L. Leonard Gordner, Holtwood; brother David R., h/o Randi L. Gordner, Lancaster; stepbrothers Michael, h/o Terri Clair, and Scott R. Clair, both of Lititz; stepsisters Jessica L. Clair, York, and Rebecca A. Clair, Lititz; and grandnieces Kayla Mae Clair, Lititz, and Riley M. and Savanna Clair, both of Lancaster.
Funeral services are 2pm Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Andrew T. Scheid Funeral Home, 320 Blue Rock Rd., Millersville, 872-2266, with Rev. Ted Mefford officiating. Interment is private. Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9pm Tuesday and 1-2pm Wednesday.

Devon Lee Reid

Devon Lee Reid, 26, died unexpectedly on Friday in Lancaster. Autopsy results are pending. He resided at 533 Chester St., with his maternal grandmother, Anna M. Reid, who reared all his siblings.
An upcoming rap music artist, he had the VDG Group with his brother, Tony E. Reid, Lancaster.
He is also survived by his father, Curtis Lee Wood, Claymont, DE; paternal grandmother, Shirley D. Ladson, Philadelphia; sisters, Petrina and Doreen Frances Reid, Lancaster; and Dr. Tirissa Jean Reid, Bronx, NY; brother, Gerald T., h/o Danita Henson-Reid, Harrisburg; and uncle, Walter Whack, Lancaster. In 1990, he was preceded in death by his mother, Flora A. Reid Battle.
Funeral services are on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 10am, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 148 Locust St., Lancaster, with Rev. Roland P. Forbes, Jr. officiating. Interment in Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the church Tuesday, 7-9pm and Wednesday, 9-10am.

Ernest Boyd Hill

Ernest Boyd Hill, 67, of 8087 Big Cove Tannery Rd, Big Cove Tannery, PA and formerly of Mt. Joy, PA died Saturday, September 18th, at his residence.
Born in Needmore, Fulton County, PA on Friday, October 9, 1936, he was the son of the late J. Boyd and Elva I. (Lynch) Hill. He worked at Raub Supply Company in Lancaster, PA for 44 years. He was the husband of Harriet A. (Long) Hill, whom he had been marriage to for 44 years.
He was a graduate of Stevens Trade School, a 32 degree mason & past president of Casiphia Lodge# 551 of Mt. Joy, PA, member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Harrisburg, PA and a member of the Jaffa Shriners of Altoona, PA.
In addition to his wife he is survived by son Stephen B. (husband of Diana) Hill, Manheim, PA; daughter Joanne E. Hilt, Saxton s River, VT; brother John D. (husband of Linda) Hill, Conestoga, PA. He is survived by 2 grandchildren and 1 step grandson.
Religious Service at Cedar Grove Christian Church, Warfordsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 21st, with Rev. Delmas Bard officiating.
Interment at Cedar Grove Christian Cemetery, Warfordsburg, PA.
There will be visitation on Monday 2 PM to 9 PM with the family receiving friends from 7 PM to 9 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation 1 hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.
Masonic service will be held Monday, September 20th, 2004 at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
