Thomas W. Hartenstine
November 25, 1928 - April 30, 2006
Thomas W. Hartenstine, 77, of 5775 Park Street North, St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Lancaster, PA, died in his residence Sunday morning. Born November 25, 1928, in Missillian, Ohio, he was a son of the late Harry R. and Emmy (Probst) Hartenstine. Tom was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Lancaster. Retiring in 1992, he was employed for 36 years by Farmer's First Bank, Lititz, now Susquehanna Bank, as a senior director of audit. He was certified as an internal auditor, member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and taught courses with the American Institute of Banking in Lancaster, PA, for many years. He was employed earlier by the former Keystone National Bank, Manheim. An Army Reservist during the Korean War, he was a past president of the Lititz Jaycee's, and had served on the district council of Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council, York, PA. Surviving is a son, John R., husband of Beverly (Davidson) Hartenstine, Mountville, PA; a daugher, Elizabeth Ann Hartenstine, Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Dennis and Tiffany; brothers, Harry R., husband of Jane Hartenstine (his twin), Kilgore, TX; and Richard A., husband of Eda Lea Hartenstine, San Antonio, TX; and a sister, Linda, wife of Fred Gould, Florida. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregg Michael Hartenstine and a sister, Gertrude E. Ruth.
A Memorial Holy Eucharist will be celebrated from St. John's Episcopal Church, 321 West Chestnut Street, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Monday, May 15, 2006, at 10:00 AM with Father John W. Morris officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Tom's cremains will be placed, as he desired, in the St. John's Columbarium.

Daniel C. Harting
March 2, 1943 - October 28, 2005
Daniel C. Harting, 62, of 1305 South Cocalico Road, Denver, Lancaster County, died Friday morning at 12:40 AM in Ephrata Community Hospital after arriving late Thursday evening. Born March 2, 1943, in Ephrata, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Charles L. and Violet H. (Hamlin) Harting, and was the husband of Gloria J. (Weidman) Harting for 43 years. He worked as a machinist for 36 years with Weaver Industries, Denver, and attended Bible Fellowship Church, Ephrata. Dan was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Cocalico Sportsman’s Association. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed laughing and making others laugh. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Denise R. (Harting), wife of Chad Beavens, Newmanstown, PA ; 2 sons, Dean L., husband of Darlene (Sanders) Harting, Reinholds, PA ; and Daryl L., husband of Tammy (Ressler) Harting, Stevens, PA; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Eileen L. Deibler, Stevens, PA.
A viewing will be held on Monday evening, October 31, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning, November 1, 2005, at 10:00 AM from our parlors, with The Reverend Robert W. Smock officiating.
Burial in Fairview Cemetery Annex, West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA.

Ada C. Hassler
March 24, 1928 - August 7, 2004
Ada C. Hassler, 76, formerly of 561 South Muddy Creek Road, Denver, East Cocalico Township, PA, died Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM in Lancashire Hall, Neffsville, where she resided for the past 4 years. Born in Reading, Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Florence (Rubel) Brown. Her husband, James P. Hassler, died in 1958. She attended the Ephrata United Zion Church and enjoyed bingo and working puzzles. Ada had worked many years ago at the former Cinderella Knitting Mill and the former A. N. Wolf Shoe Company, both of Denver, PA. Surviving are 2 daughters, Diane L. (Hassler), marriage to Harold N. Burkholder, Lititz, PA ; and Miriam, marriage to Rev. Myron Boyer, Owego, NY; a son, Paul R. Hassler, Denver, PA; 3 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and 2 sisters, Kathryn (Brown) Sweigart, Ephrata, PA; and Mary (Brown), marriage to Emmett Hannah, Brownstown, PA. A sister, Helen Engle, and 2 brothers, George & Arthur Brown, preceded her in death.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2004, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM from our parlors. The ceremony celebrating Ada's life will begin at 2:00 PM with Pastor Luke G. Showalter officiating. Burial will follow in Steinmetz Cemetery, West Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, PA.

Edna M. Heft
September 1, 1915 - October 9, 2003
Edna M. Heft, 88, of 1879 Bowmansville Road, Mohnton, Lancaster County, died Thursday evening at 6:30 PM in Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, Lancaster County, where she resided since June 12th. Born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Susanna (Redcay) Rudy, Sr. Her husband, Jacob Heft, died August 2, 1972. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County, where she had been active in the activities of “The Elderberry’s”. A homemaker, she was an experienced flower and vegetable gardener and was known for her outstanding cooking and baking. Surviving are 6 daughters, Christine M. (Heft), marriage to Robert B. Forrey, Spring Hill, FL; June L., marriage to Robert E. Bauder, Reamstown, PA; Rose Ann Heft, Reading, PA; Barbara J. (Heft), marriage to James A. Schlouch, Bowmansville, PA; Grace D. Heft, and Gale R. (Heft) Haney, both of Ephrata, PA; 4 son, John J., marriage to Carol L. (Dietrich) Heft, Exeter, PA; Charles R. Heft, Denver, PA; Roy E., marriage to Kathy (Sanger) Heft, Leola, PA; and Russell L., marriage to Margaret E. (Remp) Heft, Bowmansville, PA; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary (Heft) Moyer, on May 9th.
A viewing will be held on Sunday evening, October 12, 2003, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from our funeral home.
The ceremony celebrating Edna's life will be held on Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM with her pastor, The William E. Hoch, officiating from Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, PA. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

Russell L. Heft
April 12, 1955 - July 15, 2005
Russell L. Heft, 50, of 302 School Road, Bowmansville, Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, died unexpectedly in Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, Berks County, on July 15, 2005. Born in Ephrata, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Jacob and Edna (Rudy) Heft, and was the husband of Margaret E. (Remp) Heft for almost 8 years. A member and councilman of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, trap shooter and sports fan. He belonged to the Adamstown Rod & Gun Club and the National Rifle Association. Russell was a devoted husband and loved creating fun family gatherings. A 1973 graduate of Garden Spot High School, he was employed as an estimator and job superintendent with Brecknock Builders, Denver, Lancaster County. Also surviving is a step-daughter, Diane Glasford, Denver, PA ; a step-granddaughter, Natalie; 6 sisters, Christine M. (Heft), wife of Robert B. Forrey, Spring Hill, FL; June L. (Heft), wife of Robert E. Bauder, Reamstown, PA; Rose Ann Heft, Reading, PA; Barbara J. (Heft), wife of James A. Schlouch, Bowmansville, PA; Grace D. Heft, Ephrata, PA; and Gale R. (Heft) Haney, Stevens, PA; 3 brothers, John J., husband of Carol L. (Dietrich) Heft, Exeter, PA; Charles R. Heft, Denver, PA; and Roy E., husband of Kathy (Sanger) Heft, Leola, PA. A sister, Mary (Heft) Moyer, preceded him in death.
Viewings will be held on Wednesday evening, July 20, 2005, from 7 to 9 PM from Good Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34-38 North Reamstown Road, Reamstown, PA 17567, and at the church on Thursday, July 21, 2005, from 9 to 10 AM.
Services celebrating Russell's life will be held Thursday, July 21, 2005, at 10:00 AM from Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517, with Pastor John C. Oliphant officiating. Burial will follow in Allegheny Union Cemetery, Alleghenyville, PA.

John H. Heil
August 21, 1928 - January 16, 2006
John H. Heil, 77, of 33 Ray Drive, Denver, Lancaster County, formerly of Mohnton, Berks County, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at 3:15 PM in Ephrata Community Hospital under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. His death followed a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born August 21, 1928, in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Clarence G. and Alice W. (Stuber) Heil, and was the husband of Miriam L. (Kramer) Heil, for 57 years. A member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church, Mohnton, he enjoyed camping, deer hunting and woodworking. John worked over 30 years for the former Kurtz Brothers, Ephrata, and was grounds keeper at Rosedale Grove, Laureldale, for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Barbara L., wife of Larry E. Sweigart, Stevens, PA; 2 granddaughters, Suzanne M., wife of Scott Gordon, Deleware; and Lynette L., wife of David Lutz, Ephrata, PA; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua A. and Kirstin M. Lutz; and an uncle, Samuel Heil, Akron, PA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie, and a sister, Betty Stauffer.
A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, January 21, 2006, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM from our parlors with Pastor James F. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Denver, PA.

Violet Heinsey
June 25, 1917 - March 23, 2003
Violet Heinsey, 85, of 72 Park Street, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Sunday morning at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, where she was a guest since Friday. Her death followed a brief illness. Born in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Warren L. and Mabel (Sweigart) Wingenroth. Her husband, Daniel K. Heinsey, died in 1983. She was a member of Swamp United Church of Christ, Reinholds, Lancaster County. Mrs. Heinsey was employed for many years by the former Cinderella Knitting Mills, Denver; former C & B Trimming, and the former Reamstown Garment Factory, both of Reamstown. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Surviving are a daughter, Genevieve W. (Heinsey) Kane, Lancaster, PA; 2 sons, Kenneth W., marriage to Rochelle E. (Lausch) Heinsey, Stevens, PA; and Larry W., marriage to Judith L. (Ludwig) Heinsey, New Holland, PA; 7 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.
Violet's viewing will be held on Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM from our parlors. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at 10:00 AM with The Reverend Bradley J. Haws officiating.
Burial will follow in Swamp Cemetery, Reinholds, Lancaster County, PA.
