Helen Marie Nelson "Chut"
Jan. 5, 1925 - Nov. 12, 2001
Helen Marie “Chut” Nelson, 76, of 244 Willow Street, Adamstown, Lancaster County died Monday morning in Semper Care Hospital, Lancaster, where she was a patient for 3 weeks. Her death followed a lengthy illness. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Russell S., Sr., and Helen (Wilson) Nelson. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, Lancaster County. Miss Nelson was employed from 1945-60 in the credit department of the former Pomeroy’s Department Store, Reading; had worked at the former Leininger Knitting Mill, Mohnton; and retired in 1990 from Bollman Hat Factory, Adamstown. A 1942 graduate of the former Shillington High School, she was an avid bowler in her younger years. Surviving are 2 brothers, Russell S. Nelson, Jr., Stevens Point, Wisconsin; and Barry R., marriage to Nancy R. (Artz) Nelson, Shillington, PA; 2 nieces and a nephew.
Chut's memorial ceremony will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at 7:00 PM with The Reverend William E. Hoch officiating in Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville. There will be no viewing at her request.
It is requested that flowers not be sent. Contributions in Chut's memory may be sent to the Memorial Fund of Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517.

Elsie Noll
November 17, 1914 - January 26, 2004
Elsie Noll, 89, formerly of Park Street, Stevens, Lancaster County, PA, died Monday afternoon in Fairmount Homes, Inc., Farmersville, Lancaster County, where she resided since April 1999. She was a daughter of the late George N. and Maria (Latshaw) Wagner. Her husband, Elvin Noll, died November 13, 1991. Elsie was employed many years ago with Hope Hosiery Mill, at both their Reamstown and Adamstown locations. She is survived by a son, E. Roger, marriage to Audrey A. (Haldeman) Noll, Reamstown, PA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Wagner, and a sister, Grace (Wagner) Wingenroth.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2004, at 2:00 PM from Cedar Grove Cemetery, Broad Street, Adamstown, Lancaster County, PA, with The Reverend Stephen E. Hollinger officiating.

Barbara Jean Mohn "Snookie"
Nov. 26, 1937 - Sept. 1, 2001
Barbara Jean “Snookie” Mohn, age 63, of 267 East Main Street, Adamstown, Lancaster County, died Saturday evening in the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, Berks County, where she was a patient for 9 days. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Elmer K. and Elva V. (Rudy) Mohn. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Shillington, and a 1958 graduate of Reading Hospital School of Nursing, West Reading. She was employed for 39 years as a registered nurse, night charge nurse, for the Reading Hospital & Medical Center, West Reading, retiring in 1997. She was a life member of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing Alumna Association, and was the first female member of the Adamstown Fire Company. Surviving are cousins.
The funeral ceremony will be held from our parlor on Friday, September 7, 2001, at 11:00 AM with her pastor, The Reverend William E. Hoch, officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service with burial immediately following in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, PA.
It is requested that flowers NOT be sent, however, you are welcome to remember "Snookie" with contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Melvin R. Mohn
February 17, 1928 - September 12, 2003
Melvin R. Mohn, 75, of 188 North Reamstown Road, Reamstown, Lancaster County, died in his residence Friday morning at 2:50 AM following a lengthy illness. Born in Shillington, Berks County, he was a son of the late John K. and Lillie (Pfautz) Mohn, and was the husband of Esther M. (Steffy) Mohn for 52 years on June 9th. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church, Reamstown. Mohn had retired after over 30 years as a machinist with the former Ephrata Tool & Die, now Ephrata Precision Parts, Ephrata, PA. He was an Army Sergeant 1st Class during the Korean War, having served in Austria. A life member, former assistant fire chief, engineer and captain of the fire police of Reamstown Fire Company No. 1, he was also an active member of the Lancaster County and Pennsylvania State Fire Police Associations. Melvin also enjoyed woodworking. Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters, Melissa A., marriage to Terry L. Arment, East Earl, PA; and Lisa G., marriage to Timothy P. Trinkley, Akron, PA; 2 granddaughter; 4 step-grandchildren; and a brother, Lavern R., marriage to Marguerite (Ansel) Mohn, Akron, PA. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary, in 1959; and 3 brothers, Clair, Galen and John Paul Mohn.
A viewing will be held from our parlors on Sunday evening, September 14, 2003, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The casket will also be open prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2003, at 10:00 AM from St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, 46 East Church Street, Reamstown, with his pastor, The Reverend Kirk R. Marks, officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery Annex, near Denver, PA.
It is the request of the family that rather than flowers, you remember Melvin with contributions to The American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603 or to The American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17602.

Stella D. Mohn
January 15, 1912 - November 17, 2004
Remembering Stella with Love...
Stella D. Mohn, 92, formerly of Adamstown, Lancaster County, died Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 1:20 PM in Luther Acres, Lititz, Lancaster County. She was born Jan. 15, 1912, in Adamstown, a daughter of the late John G. & Elizabeth (Demming) Fry. Her beloved husband, Arthur K. Mohn, died Oct. 4, 2000. An active member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Swartzville, she sang in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed embroidering & quilting. Stella retired after many years of employment from Bollman Hat Company, Adamstown. Survived by daughter, Grace A. (C. Richard) Adams, Sarasota, FL ; 3 grandchildren, Wendi Adams, wife of Richard Salesky; Jeffrey & Matthew Adams; sister, Mary Fitterling, Lititz, & brother, Franklin, husband of Mae (Shober) Fry, Ephrata.
A viewing will be held on Saturday morning, November 20, 2004, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM from our parlors with the service celebrating Stella's life beginning at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Joyce A. Seip and The Reverend Walter Cleckley will officiate.
Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, Lancaster County, PA.

Richard R. Mumma
July 6, 1942 - February 14, 2002
Richard R. Mumma, 59, died in his home on Valentine’s Day. Born on his grandparent’s farm in Hahnstown, he was the son of Reuben S. and Ella Mae Witman Mumma. Richard was a 1960 graduate of Ephrata High School and McCann’s School of Business, Reading, with additional studies at Penn State University and Marywood College, Scranton. Known for his love of music, he played piano for churches, nursing homes and his own enjoyment with special fondness for “American” composers Gershwin, Cole Porter, Scott Joplin, Aaron Copeland and Steven Sondheim. He also enjoyed hymns and spirituals. He previously sang in the Cloister Chorus, Franconia Singers and his church choir. His livelihood was entwined with Xtra Factors, now X F Enterprises, of Ephrata. His 37 year career began as bookkeeper, then company controller and secretary-treasurer of the Board. He was a partner in the firm at the time of his death. Richard became the conscience of XF as it grew from a small, Ephrata-based plant into an animal nutrition agribusiness of international scope. He believed that employees were the company’s greatest asset; so throughout his career, he mentored young people on the job. In all areas of life he practiced “The Golden Rule”. Richard was marriage and devoted to Brenda Ann Sprecher Mumma for 33 years. Together they supported many community organizations and projects and were members of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kissel Hill. His 14 year battle with I.T.P. is a testimonial of a committed physician, comprehensive health care and strong positive attitudes and beliefs. Brenrich, Mumma’s home, was developed off of an old Lancaster County farmsite. Over 10,000 daffodils bloom each spring because Richard wanted to make the earth beautiful again. A believer in hard work and self-sufficiencey, he was a supporter of Heifer International and their “Cows of Peace” project, an effort of American Agriculture to further worldwide peace. It is requested that rather than flowers, remember Richard with a contribution to Heifer International, 1015 Louisiana Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202. In addition to his wife there are 2 brothers surviving, Kenneth and LeRoy Mumma, both of Denver, PA.
Richard's memorial celebration will be held on Monday, February 18, 2002, at 5:30 PM from The Chapel in the Saal of The Ephrata Cloister, West Main Street, Ephrata, PA, with The Reverend Irvin Straw and Chaplain Ross Beighley officiating.
Private inurnment will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown, PA.

Richard E. Oberholtzer
September 11, 1922 - September 2, 2002
Richard E. Oberholtzer, 79, of 6 Oak Lane, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Monday morning, September 2, 2002, at 4:45 AM in the Denver Nursing Home where he was admitted on August 19, 2002. Born in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Nettie (Eberly) Oberholtzer, and was the husband of Roma H. (Garman) Oberholtzer, for 55 years on April 5th. He was a member, past treasurer and council member of Muddy Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swartzville, where he had also been active on the dart ball league. Retiring in 1988, Richard was the secretary of the Reamstown Mutual Insurance Company, Reamstown, for 30 years, and had been a longtime agent with Erie Insurance Company in the Reamstown Area. He was also a self-employed farmer for many years. A 1940 graduate of East Cocalico High School, Reamstown, he served on the former East Cocalico Township School Board and later on the Cocalico Union School Board. Oberholtzer was a member of the East Fork Rod & Gun Club, Potter County. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 Free & Accepted Masons. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Jane L. (Oberholtzer) Wenger, Ephrata; 4 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Grace E. (Oberholtzer) Sweigart, Lake City, FL. A son, R. Dean Oberholtzer, preceded him in death on June 5, 1994.
Richard's viewing will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in our parlor. The funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, September 6th beginning at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend Jeffrey K. Lott, officiating. The casket will be open for viewing at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, PA.
