Michael DelMonte, of Scranton, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst.

Born in Hughestown, he was a son of the late Daniel and Anna (Rubin) DelMonte. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston, and the Italian-American Citizens Club, Pittston Township.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Joseph, and Daniel.

Surviving are his daughters, Ann Marie Hughes, Old Forge; and Phyllis M. Wedlock, Scranton; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; brothers, Anthony, Dupont; James and John, both of Hughestown; sisters, Julia Terry, Hughestown, Minnie Caputo and Grace Garrubba, both of Pittston; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Oram Street, Scranton. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.~ Friends may ca~ll from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst, 18416.

Evans, William
Nov. 28, 2000
William Valentine "Cope" Evans, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Kingston and Harveys Lake, died Tuesday in Clearwater from injuries sustained in a fall last winter.~

Born Feb. 14, 1918, in Edwardsville, he was a son of the late Hayden and Ethel (Reese) Evans. He worked for the The Okonite Co., Wilkes-Barre, and was a supervisor in the packaging department at Carter-Wallace, Cranbury, N.J. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the King David Lodge F & AM, Kingston, and First Christian Church, Clearwater.

Surviving are his wife of over 63 years, Geraldine "Polly" (Merrill) Evans; sons, William, Jr., Raleigh, N.C., and Harveys Lake; and Thomas, Newtown; two grandsons, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Evans and Nancy Bates, both of Virginia; and brother, Hayden, Pennsylvania.

Arrangements were by the National Cremation Society. Burial was in the Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, Fla.

Jones, Hugh
Nov. 27, 2000
Hugh E. Jones, 82, of Jackson Heights, N.Y., formerly of Madison Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at Lennoxville Hospital, New York City.

Born Aug. 31, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Hugh G. and Mary (Clocker) Jones. He was a 1936 graduate of Coughlin High School and attended the Warden Extension of Pennsylvania University. He worked in the administration of several law firms in New York. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Luther; and sisters, Margaret McGowan and Catherine Jones.

Surviving are one nephew and three nieces.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Frederick & Snowdon Funeral Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Daniel Jones officiating. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Kemp, Donald
Nov. 28, 2000
Donald F. Kemp, of Front Street, Nanticoke, formerly of Sugar Notch, Ashley, Hanover Township and the Glen Lyon section of Newport Township, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Ashley, he was a son of the late William and Catherine (Lenahan) Kemp. He attended Sugar Notch schools. He was a laborer in construction. He was a member of St. Adalbert's Church and Italian Club, both of Glen Lyon, Teamsters Local 215 and Polish American Club, Hanover section of Nanticoke, and a social member of the Nanticoke American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur; and sister, Catherine Kemp.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Chabin; sons, John, Plymouth; Donald and Patrick, both of Glen Lyon; four grandchildren; brothers, William, Berwick; and Edward, Sugar Notch; sisters, Margaret Joseph, Lee Park, Hanover Township; and Ruth Rowles, Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday from the Joseph L. Wroblewski Funeral Home, 56 Ashley St., Ashley, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Adalbert's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. this evening. A Wake service will be at 3 p.m. today, with the Rev. Carl Prushinski officiating.

Kulka, Eva
Nov. 27, 2000
Eva Kulka, of Cherry Street, Kingston, died Monday at her home.

Born in Laflin, she was a daughter of the late Philip and Anastasia Sedor. She worked for the Liberty Throwing Co., Kingston. She was a member of St. Mary's Annunciation Church, Kingston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen A.

Surviving are her daughter, June Ann Sims, at home; brother, John; sisters, Alice Kotis, Idlewild, N.J., Nancy Lloyd, Detroit; and Mary and Helen Sedor; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Annunciation Church. Inter~ment will be in the parish Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Kuren Sr., Jerome

Jerome F. Kuren Sr., 47, of Pocono Trailer Park, Plains Township, died Tuesday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born Aug. 4, 1953, he was a son of the late Francis Kuren and Frances (Tomasko) Kuren Christian. He attended Coughlin High School. He worked at Press Steel Co. and in the construction department of the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority. He was a member of the Triangle Club, Miners Mills, Wilkes-Barre, and the National Rifle Association.

Surviving are his wife, the former Kathy E. Condosta; sons, Jerome Francis, Jr. and Adam Joseph; sisters, Carol Oliver, Wilkes-Barre; and Diane Dupak, Pittston; brothers, Ronald and Roger Christian, both of Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Lankowski, Bernard

Bernard Lankowski, 92, formerly of West Ridge Street, Nanticoke, died Tuesday at the Hospice Unit of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Alexander and Johanna (Pogodzinski) Lankowski. He attended Nanticoke schools. He was a brewmaster assistant for Gibbons Brewery, Wilkes-Barre. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as sergeant in the European Theater. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and American Legion Post 350, Nanticoke.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sarah (Stephania) Balewski; and brothers, Joseph Long and Clem Lankowski; and sisters, Celia Klach, Lillian Cielesz, Sophie Jurta, Sarah Woynoski and Tillie Ciolek.

Surviving are his nieces and nephews.

American Legion Post 350 will conduct a military funeral at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church, Nanticoke. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Nanticoke. Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Church Memorial Fund; or Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit.

Llewellyn, Marie Ann

Ann Marie (Barnett) Llewellyn, 47, of Main Street, Avoca, died Monday at Williams County Community Medical Center, Ohio.

Born Sept. 30, 1953, in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of Marie (Ryan) Barnett and the late John J. Barnett. She attended Land-O-Pines Grade School and was a 1972 graduate of Howell High School. She was a customer service representative at TRL, Pittston. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Avoca.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her son, Daniel Vulin, Boulder, Colo.; daughters, Sandra Ann (Vulin) Gedrich and Amy Marie Vulin, both of Avoca; two grandchildren; brother, Daniel Barnett, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters, Barbara Marcus, Wayne, N.J.; and Debbie Distasio, Duryea; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery. Father Joseph Elston will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Loughnane, Edna Mae

Edna Mae (Swinehart) Loughnane, 90, of Nordmont, formerly of Pottstown, died Sunday at the Valley View Nursing Home, Warrensville.

Born May 11, 1910, in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Eugene B. and Edna (Lightcap) Swinehart. She was a waitress in Pottstown and a waitress for her sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Lester Burdan, who operated Burdan's Tavern, Dushore.

Funeral services will be held at convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown. Funeral arrangements are by the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore.

Lutz Jr., Robert
Nov. 28, 2000
Robert T. Lutz Jr., of White Haven, died Tuesday at his residence.

Born Oct. 3, 1942, in Telford, he was a son of the late Robert, Sr., and Blanche (Hartman) Lutz. He attended school in the Palisades School District, Kintnersville. He worked for the Sylvester Chevrolet Co., Scranton.

Surviving are his brother, James, Ferndale; sisters, Otilda Hacker, Kintnersville; and Roberta Hartley, North Wales; one niece and nephews.

A private funeral will be held from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 27 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. There are no calling hours.

Nuss, Regina Ann

Regina Ann Nuss, 90, formerly of South Main Road, Mountaintop, died Wednesday at Davis Manor, Wright Township.Born March 25, 1910, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Catherine (Rothenbecker) Sauer. She was an office worker for the former American Stores Grocery Market, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mountaintop, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Pannetti, Dr. Stephen

Dr. Stephen Pannetti, DDS, of Kingston, died Sunday at his home.Born in Luzerne, he was a son of the late Guiseppe and Katherine (Angeline) Pannetti. He attended Luzerne High School and was a graduate of Villanova College, with a degree in biology, the Temple Dental School and the Toronto University, Canada, for oral surgery and anesthesia. He was the chief of prosthetics of the 98th General Hospital, Munich, Germany. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, formerly Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne, Kiwanis Club, Dallas, The American Legion Post 309 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, both of Kingston, American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Third District Dental Association.

Pobutkiewicz, Helen

Helen Pobutkiewicz, 57, of Mingle Inn Road, Berwick, formerly of Berwick Retirement Village 1, where she resided for three months, died Tuesday at the Berwick Hospital Center.

Born Feb. 12, 1943, in Plymouth, she was the daughter of Walter and Helen (Krystofik) Pobutkiewicz. She was a graduate of Morrisville High School, Bucks County. She was a bow bagger at Berwick Industries. She was a member of the Kingston Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Berwick.

Surviving are her cousins.

A Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Edge Hill Cemetery, West Nanticoke, with a minister of Jehovah's Witnesses presiding. There will be no calling hours.

Quinn Sr., Robert

Robert H. Quinn Sr., of South Grant Street, Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Marion Terrace, Hanover Township, died Tuesday at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born June 2, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Charles and Marie (Walter) Quinn. He was a mail room foreman, purchasing agent and building superintendent at the former Wilkes-Barre Record and The Times Leader newspapers. He also operated Joseph George Furniture Refinishing Shop and Furniture Stores, Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mountaintop.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter and Charles.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Mary K. DeMasi-George; sons, Joseph G., Simi Valley, Calif.; Robert H., Jr., Fredericksburg, Va.; and Gregory B., Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Gloria M. Rawls, Mountaintop; Valerie M. Trudeau, Stamford, Conn.; and Adrienne A. Flannigan, Aurora, Ohio; five grandchildren; brother, Jerome, Pittston; and sister, Florence Bednar, Somerset, N.J.

The funeral will be at 8:45 a.m. Friday from the Recupero Funeral Home, 141 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Jude's Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. this evening.

Robert C. Webb, 73, of Rocky Glen Road, Avoca, died Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.

Born June 23, 1927, in Moosic, he was a son of the late Oscar, Sr., and Ethel (Seig) Webb. He attended Moosic schools. He held various jobs. He was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran of World War II. He attended the Moosic Alliance Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip, Sr.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Theresa Bolock; daughters, Theresa Roberta, at home; and Laurie Ann, Pittston; brothers, Oscar, Jr. and David, both of Moosic; William, Mount Cobb; and Leonard, Pittston Township; sisters, Ruth Gensel, Glenwood; Hope McCracken and Ann Webb, both of Moosic; and Janice Mackus, Fredericksburg, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cremation will be in Maple Hill Crematory, Hanover Township. There will be no viewing. Interment of the cremainscq will be at the convenience of the family in Marcy Cemetery, Duryea. Arrangements are by the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.

Frank J. Wright, 93, of Harveys Lake, formerly of Noxen, died Tuesday at Lakeside Nursing Center.Born March 31, 1907, in Forty Fort, he was a son of the late William and Famma (Traver) Wright. He worked in the tannery and in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church and the Kingston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283.

Beulah M. Zimmerman, 90, of Broadway Road, Ross Township, Shickshinny, died Tuesday at Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater.

Born Nov. 26, 1910, in Loyalville, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Savilla (Hann) Leonard. She was a member of the former Broadway United Methodist Church, a Sunday school teacher, taught Bible school at Paterson Grove Campground and was a member of Women Christian Temperance Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; one daughter; one grandson; and sisters, Lulu Mountjoy, Blanch Palmer, Madge Harrison, Dorothy Rioux, Bertha Spencer and Dolores Neely; and brothers, Stanley, Byron and Elmer Leonard.

Surviving are her daughters, Carol Davenport and Janet Ramsey, both of RR Shickshinny; and Judy Yarmol, Stillwater; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; sister, Alberta Merrill, Toledo, Ohio; and brother, Richard Leonard, Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., 6 Sunset Lake Road, Hunlock Creek, with the Rev. Barbara Wodrig and Rev. Oscar Wodrig officiating. Interment will be in Dodson Cemetery, Huntington Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
