Stanley Kwitkoski, of Gouge Street, Plains Township, died Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in the Hudson section of Plains Township, he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Marek) Kwitkoski. He worked for the Henry Colliery of the Lehigh Valley Coal Co. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the United Mine Workers of America.

Surviving are his wife, the former Josephine Wendoloski; daughter, Carol, Plains Township; sons, Eugene, Exeter; Gerald, Plains Township; and Stanley, Jr., Waymart; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Spagnolia, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre; Theresa George, Camden, N.J.; and Margaret Janerich, Plains Township; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Church. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Plesnar, Walter
Oct. 30, 2000
Walter J. Plesnar, 79, of Rochelle Park, N.J., died Monday.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Arthur ~and Anna (Duplaga) Plesnar. He was a production planner for Intercontinental Dynamics, Englewood, N.J. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Rochelle Park, N.J.

Surviving are his wife, Stella (Kozibroda) Plesnar; daughters, Elaine Voit, Glen Mills; Jayne Engler, Stateville, N.C.; and Marie Galan, Richmond, Va.; son, Mark, Phoenix; nine grandchildren;~ and sister Helen Sabatino, Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Friday from the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, S113 Farview Ave.; Paramus, N.J., with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Rochelle Park. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, Del. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Lefkoski, Timothy

Timothy M. Lefkoski, 33, of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at his home.

Born May 30, 1967, in Augusta, Ga., he was a son of Joseph and Ruth Ann (Williams) Lefkoski. He was a graduate of Richfield High School, Waco, Texas, and Waco Community College. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Trucksville; Marine Corps League, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre; and American Legion Post 199, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his brothers, Joseph, Jr., Fort Worth, Texas; and Scott, Robert, Jason and Joshua, all of Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Cindy Miller and Aimee, both of Wilkes-Barre; and nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Fort Worth, Texas. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Northeast Health and Hospice Care, Pittston. Arrangements are by the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre.

Toney, John
Oct. 30, 2000
John A. Toney, 47, of North Empire Court, Wilkes-Barre, died Monday at his home.

Born Sept. 11, 1953, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of Elizabeth (Lowe) Toney, Wilkes-Barre, and the late John C. Toney. He attended Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre. He was a landscaper for the Northeast Building Restoration Co., Wilkes-Barre. He attended the St. Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his brother, Sam E., Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Sue Ann, Wilkes-Barre; and Donna, Edwardsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. A family viewing will be from noon to 1 p.m. today.

Thomas, Elizabeth

Elizabeth "Betty" Thomas, of Plains Township, died Tuesday at the Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Born in Moosic, she was a daughter of the late John and Ann (Hollenback) Decker. She attended Moosic schools. She was a sewing operator for the former Brooks Manufacturing, Old Forge. She was a member of the Moosic Alliance Church, Moosic, Moosic Hose Co., fireman's helper for the hose company and member of the Moosic Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; sisters, Mabel Minzak and May Bechtold; and brother, John Scull.

Surviving are her sons, John, Pittsburgh; Ted, Duryea; William and James, both of Moosic; daughter, Isabelle Ciolek, with whom she resided; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Bukowski and Bernice Weitz, both of Moosic; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, with services by the Rev. Arthur H. Tucker. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Plonski, Mary

Mary A. Plonski, 90, of Union Street, Exeter, died Wednesday at the Highland Manor Nursing Home, Exeter.

Born Aug. 14, 1910, in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Leona (Woiciki) Plonski. She worked in the silk industry. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Port Griffith section of Jenkins Township.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Alice Belsky, Dorothy Wassil, Alberta Plonski and Fannie Pramick; and brother, Theodore.

Surviving are her sister, Helen, with whom she resided; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Wudmaska, Stephen

Stephen (Wudnoski) Wudmaska, 92, of North Washington Street, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Brownsville, he was a son of the late Stanko and Anna (Skrip) Wudmaska. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township, in the maintenance department. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, and the American Legion Joseph F. Conlon Post 558, Plains Township.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, George Wudmaska and John Wudnoski; and sisters, Sister Laurentia Wudmaska, Sister Natalie Wudmaska, Evelyn Abazia, Anna Janulewicz, and Anna Wudmaska.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Adele Zdanowicz; daughters, Rita Wudmaska, at home; and Joan Fugok, Shavertown section of Kingston Township; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services with Panachida will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. Demko will officiate. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. A Parastas Service will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Sosko, Ervin

Ervin E. Sosko, 84, of Bear Creek Boulevard, White Haven, died Tuesday at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.

Born Nov. 21, 1916, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Janoska) Sosko. He graduated high school in Wilkes-Barre. He was a musician who wrote and arranged music. He played locally with the Ray Keating Orchestra. He also played in jazz bands at Grossinger's Resort, Catskill, N.Y., Miami, Fla., and French Lick, Ind. He played~ the tuba, bass and violin. He was a sales representative for Planter's Peanuts, Wilkes-Barre. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a musician. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, Bear Creek.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, Bear Creek, with the Rev. Anthony M. Urban officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dallas. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. Arrangements are by the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Carl W. Swiatek, 81, of Steele Street, Hanover Green section of Hanover Township, died Tuesday at the inpatient unit of Hospice Community Care, Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

Born March 2, 1919, in Wilmington, Del., he was a son of the late Carl and Maryann (Swiatek) Chelstowski. He worked for the Glen Nan Coal Co. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood, Hanover Township, and the Hanover Township Veterans of Foreign Wars 5267.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and Felix; and sister, Josephine Falcheck.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Helen Strzepek; daughters, Carol Wilkins, Hanover Green; Lori Eckert, Lewisville, Texas; four grandsons; brothers, John, Hanover Green; and Walter Wysowski, Henrietta, N.Y.; sisters, Mary Olenick, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre; and Helen Karwell, Ardsley; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Charles V. Sherbin Funeral Home, 630 Main Road, Hanover Green, Hanover Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. A Christian Wake Service will be this evening, with the Rev. James F. McGahagan officiating.

Margaret Johnston, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Hampton House, where she was a resident for several years.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Priscella (Glycenfer) Cunningham. She was a member of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; brother, James Cunningham; and sister, Doris Wolosz.

Surviving are her brother, Martin Cunningham, Wilkes-Barre; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the Matthew T. Jacobs Funeral Home Inc., 47 Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Alexis, Celia

Celia Alexis, of Matson Avenue, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at her home.

Born April 26, 1911, in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Katherine (Verbyla) Alexis. She attended the local schools. She worked at Parsons Silk Mill, Penn Tobacco and death by her brothers, Albert, George, Benedict and Vincent.

Surviving are her sisters, Regina and Natalie, with whom she resided; brothers, Francis, with whom she resided; Daniel, Miners Mills; and Joseph, Whippany, N.J.; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Plains Township. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Wilkes-Barre.

Burgio, Josephine

Josephine Burgio, of Pittston Avenue, Yatesville, formerly of Pittston, died Friday at Highland Manor, Exeter, where she was a resident for four months.

Born in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline (Devito) Cavall. She worked in the garment industry. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, life member of the Altar and Rosary Society and member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brothers, Charles, Richard and Michael; and sisters, Minnie Cerza and Molly Aita.

Surviving are her daughter, Della Rostock, with whom she resided; son, James, Pittston; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the Adonizio Funeral Home Inc., 251 William St., Pittston, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Pittston. The viewing will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Marilyn A. Lucchino, 53, of Hickorywood Drive, Laflin, died Friday at her home.

Born June 19, 1947, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Mario and Helen (Baiz) Barbini. She was a 1965 graduate of Coughlin High School and a 1969 graduate of College Misericordia, with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Brodheadsville and in Wyoming Area School District. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin, and the local, state and national education associations. She was the president and secretary of Coughlin High School Boys Basketball Booster Club.

Surviving are her husband of 16 years, Robert; sons, Steven, Michael and Jeffrey, all at home; sisters, Annette M. Barbini, Wilkes-Barre; and Elaine Morehead, Cranford, N.J.; brother, Barry Barbini, Leesburg, Va.; nieces, nephews and one grandniece.

The funeral will be at 9:15 a.m. Monday from the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends ~may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Miller, Dorothy

Dorothy Miller, 72, of Washington Square Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday at Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.

She was born June 1, 1928. She was a 1946 graduate of GAR High School. She worked for Fowler, Dick and Walker (the Boston Store) with Revlon Cosmetics. She was a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Wilkes-Barre.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil; and brother, William Charles.

Surviving are her step-daughter, Deidre M. Cawley-Kaminski, Edwardsville; step-grandchildren, Heather Cawley and Sally Anne Kaminski, Edwardsville; and one nephew.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation arrangements are by the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Community Care, Kingston.

Morgan, Edward

Edward Morgan, of Lafayette Street, Easton, formerly of Nanticoke and Lake Silkworth, died Friday at the Easton Hospital, Easton.

Born July 9, 1913, in the Hanover Green section of Hanover Township, he was the son of the late Edward and Louise (Cameron) Morgan. He was a graduate of Penn State and received his master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He served on the faculty of Nanticoke School District and Easton schools. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Arkansas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Nanticoke, where he served on the administrative board, was a trustee, and an assistant treasurer. He was also a member of Nanticoke Lodge 541 F & AM, Stickney Fire Co., Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Retirement Association.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Bombe; daughter, Laurie Morgan Roth, Easton; two granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Thomas Flint officiating. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Officers of Nanticoke Lodge 541 will conduct Masonic services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Shatrowsky, Anna Mae

Anna Mae Shatrowsky, of Courtright Street, Plainsville section of Plains Township, died Friday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

orothy A. Corgan, 72, of West Nanticoke, died Tuesday at Mercy Special Care Hospital, Nanticoke.

Born July 10, 1928, in Laflin, she was a daughter of the late Wright and Nellie (Devers) Moseman. Mrs. Corgan was a graduate of Kingston High School. Prior to retirement, she was a nurse at St. Joseph's Center, Scranton, for many years. She was a member of Bishop O'Reilly High School Mother's Club, Kingston.

A sister, Sarah Williams; and brothers, Wright Moseman and Clarence Moseman preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, John M. Corgan; sons, Mark F. Corgan; New Jersey; Cyril W. Corgan, Scranton; and John P. Corgan, Nanticoke; daughter, Theresa Conway, New York; grandchildren, Bradley and Sondra Corgan, Katelyn and Danielle Corgan, Sean and John Conway; sister, Louise Harper, Pittsburgh; and brother, Philip Moseman, Harveys Lake.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from McLaughlin Funeral Service, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
