Marilyn J. Sabellico
Marilyn J. Sabellico, 70, of Fairmount Avenue, South Williamsport, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at home. She and her husband, Americo “Mitt” Sabellico, observed their 14th wedding anniversary Feb. 7. She was a homemaker and secretary and worked at Jersey Shore Hospital until 1986. She was a member of White Deer Women’s Golf Association and Iota Iota, a sorority in Jersey Shore. She was a 1947 graduate of Rocky Groove High School, Venango County. She was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and was active in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, where she was known for her potato pancakes. Born April 17, 1930, in Franklin, she was a daughter of George M. and Mary E. Greggs Wood Sr. Surviving are three sons, Stephen J. Lazorka of Bedford, Daniel P. Lazorka of Oval and James P. Lazorka of this city; three daughters, Karen E. Ergott of Jersey Shore, Christine A. Ankney of Lock Haven and Susan J. Lazorka of Linden; a brother, Richard Wood of Franklin; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David M. Lazorka; five brothers, Robert, Roland, Raymond, Charles and George Wood; and a sister, Evelyn Sustak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 635 Hepburn St., with Msgr. Francis J. Castellano, as celebrant. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Allen and Redmond’s, 331 Elmira St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30.

Gladys E. Slopey
Gladys E. Slopey, 94, of 1202 Rural Ave., formerly of 213 Beech St., died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in Roseview Manor. She was the widow of Malcolm Slopey. She was a homemaker. She was a Protestant. Born Aug. 18, 1906, in Jersey Shore, she was a daughter of William E. and Mary L. Robb Hall. Surviving are a son, Theodore R. of South Williamsport; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Eck. Private services will be at the convenience of the family.

John P. Longnecker
TURBOTVILLE - John P. Longnecker, 64, of 69 Watson Road, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital, where he was a patient. He and his wife, the former Audrey M. Snyder, would have observed their 44th wedding anniversary Oct. 5. He retired in 1999 from Schnadig Corp., Montoursville after 45 years. He was a 1953 graduate of Houston High School, Houston, Mo. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and traveling with his wife. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown RR 2 and sang in the choir. Born March 15, 1936, in Maxwell, Iowa, he was a son of Frank and Lucy Wheeler Longnecker. Surviving, besides his wife, are five sons, Stephen W. of Goulds, Fla., Michael L. of Muncy RR 3, Kenneth B. of Watsontown, Thomas B. of Watsontown RR 2 and Jon P. of Homestead, Fla.; two brothers, Marvin of Salem, Mo. and Franklin of Mountain Home, Ark.; five sisters, Shirley Lecce of Montoursville, Vivian Rowles of Houston, Gail Morris of Salem, JoAnne Taylor and Janie Webb, both of Willow Springs, Mo.; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, Watsontown RR 2, with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Turbotville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Arrangements are being handled by Brooks’, 207 Broadway St.

William Robinson Kintner
TUNKHANNOCK - William Robinson Kintner, 70, of Tunkhannock, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Tyler memorial Hospital. He and his wife, the former Margaret Collins, observed their 50th wedding anniversary June 15. He was owner of Kintner Milling Co., Mehoopany, Meshoppen and South Montrose, for 40 years retiring in 1989. After his retirement he and his wife built and operated Riverview Center, Mehoopany. He was a former trustee at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, and a trustee at Tyler Memorial Hospital. He was a director of WEMR Radio Station and director of the former United Penn Bank, Mehoopany. He was a member of Forkston Grange, Pendigraft Heart Club, Tunkhannock Rotary Club, Moose Lodge and Meshoppen Rod and Gun Club and a former member of Eagles Mere Country Club, Eagles Mere. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, William C. of Mehoopany; three daughters, Diane Spotts of Elmira, N.Y., Annette Dunlap, Mehoopany and Pamela Lizza of Tunkhannock; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and George. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Harding-Litwin’s, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. With a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the church in Tunkhannock, with the Rev. Joseph M. Ziobro, as celebrant. Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, Mehoopany. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Local arrangements are being handled by Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore.

Tammi Sue Cochrane
Tammi Sue Cochrane, 25, of Alva, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Her husband Patrick B. Cochrane survives. She and her husband co-owned Action 4-Wheel Drive, Ft. Myers, Fla. and assisted her sister at Brooke’s Restaurant. She was a graduate of Mariner High School. Surviving, besides her husband, are her parents, Lyn and Suzanne Daggett of Cape Coral, Fla; two sons, Cody Lyn and Blaze Michael; a sister, Billi Jo Daggett of Cape Coral; a brother, Mathew Martin Daggett of Cape Coral; maternal grandmother, Iva Pearl of Mansfield; and paternal grandmother, Jane Daggett of Daggett. A memorial service was held in Ft. Myers, with the Rev. Gary Smith, officiating. Arrangements were handled by Cape Coral Memorial’s, 3740 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral.

Paul W. Dieffenbacher
Paul W. Dieffenbacher, 90, of Hershey, a former city resident, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at Integrated Health Services of Hershey at Woodlands, Derry Township. He retired as a personnel analyst from the New Cumberland Army Depot and from the general services department of the state and formerly worked for the Williamsport Grit. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was chaplain of Keystone Chapter of China-Burma-India Basha. Born July 17, 1910, he was a son of Thomas and Ella Schultz Dieffenbacher. Surviving are three sons, Thomas F. of this city, Lee W. of Middletown and Ross P. of Coral Springs, Fla. a daughter, Sue Van Drew of Chambersburg; a sister, Claire Donley of this city; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Burial with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrangements were handled by Trefz & Bowser’s, 114 West Main St., Hummelstown.

Bowman J. Ulrich Jr.
Bowman “Bony” J. Ulrich Jr., 75, of 200 Liberty St., died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown. He and his wife, the former M. Henriette McCormick, observed their 53rd wedding anniversary Feb. 28. He retired in 1987 as the owner of B.J. Ulrich Jr. and Sons Excavating Contractor, Watsontown. A World War II Army veteran he was awarded the purple heart after being wounded in Okinawa and was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a 1942 graduate of Watsontown High School. He was a member of Clyde F. Mowrer Post 323 American Legion, Watsontown, Muffly Huff Post 8206 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Turbotville, Wheel Inn, Ralston, Watsontown Lodge 401 F&AM, Warrior Run Royal Arch Watsontown Chapter 246, Scottish Rite and Watsontown Artisans Assembly 33. He was a member of Watsontown Borough Council for eight years. He was a member of Watsontown United Methodist Church. Born Jan. 3, 1925, in Watsontown, he was a son of Bowman J. and Erma E. Phillips Ulrich Sr. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Lynn E. of Cleveland, Ohio and Keith E. of Lithian, Md. and a granddaughter, Brittni N. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Cronrath’s, 308 Main St., Watsontown, with the Revs. Douglas M. Eberly, his pastor and Daniel Reeder, officiating. Burial will be in Watsontown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Charles Bensch Sr.
Charles Bensch Sr., 65, of Tioga, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Born Feb. 12, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of Elmer and Charlotte Brightman Bensch. Arrangements are being handled by Carleton’s, Wellsboro.

Vivian H. Baker
MANSFIELD - Vivian H. Baker, 70, of Mansfield RR 1, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro. She was employed by Garrison Insurance Agency and West Motel. She was a member and past president of Canoe Camp Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and member of Morris Run American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Hillside Rod and Gun and Arnot Sportsmens Clubs. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Born Aug. 29, 1930, in Bloomsburg, she was a daughter of James and Greta Westover Hartsock. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Robert Baker; three sons, Jeffrey of Mansfield, Robert of Pennsdale and David of Lyons, N.Y.; a daughter, Bonnie of Allentown; a sister, Phyllis Matteson of Endicott, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Wilston’s, 18 N. Main St.

Russell Robert Bliss
TIOGA - Russell Robert “Luke” Bliss, 66 of this community died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000 in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. He and his wife, the former Leona J. Shutter, observed their 38th wedding anniversary in March. He retired in 1988 after 35 years as a glass blower in the lamp department at the Big Flats Plant of Corning Glass. He was an active member of American Legion Post 235, Tioga. He was a life member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union, AFL-CIO, and of the National Rifle Association. Born Sept. 26, 1933, in Troupsburg, N.Y., he was a son of Glenn Bliss and Edith Cady Miles. Surviving, besides his wife, are four sons, Randy of Houston, Tex., Greg and Gene, both of Tioga, and Doug of Utah; four daughters, Anita Butler of Lawrenceville, Russanne Naven of Ontario, Canada, Pat Simcoe of Lindley, NY., and Sue Thompson of Osceola; one brother, Lee of Millsboro, Delaware; 15 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Scureman’s, 130 South Main St., Mansfield.

Sara Ann Burd
LEWISBURG – Sara Ann Burd, 58, of this borough, sister of Shirley E. Huff of Lock Haven, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 at home. She was employed by the Mifflinburg Area School District as a custodian. She attended Lehigh County schools. Born May 2, 1942, in Breingsville, Lehigh County, she was a daughter of Milton and Mildred Brenner Geist. Surviving, besides her sister, are three other sisters, Eva J. Odor and Anna M. Stein, both of Allentown, and Bertha Geist of West Chester; and a brother, John M. Geist of Allentown. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Centre County. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Swartz’s, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Warren E. Cole
Warren E. Cole, 84, of Montoursville died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Ralph M. Ford
WATSONTOWN – Ralph M. Ford, 88, of Turbot Avenue died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cronrath’s, 308 Main St., Watsontown.

Sherry A. Good
Sherry A. Good, 52 of 424 Clayton Avenue, Loyalsock Township, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000 at her parents’ home in this city. She worked for Susquehanna Health System in Medical Records as a transcriptionist. She was a 1966 graduate of Loyalsock High School, attended the Harrisburg Polyclinic School of Nursing and the Williamsport School of Commerce. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and helped organize the S.O.S. singles club in South Williamsport. Born April 7, 1948, she was a daughter of Carl and Gladys Harer McDanial. Surviving, besides her parents, are two sons, Anthony of Lehighton and Kevin of Jim Thorpe; and a granddaughter. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Roy D. Meyer officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Rupert G. Haley
Rupert G. Haley, 87, formerly of California, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 in Sycamor Manor, where he lived for two years. His wife, the former Jean Ingraham, died Feb. 14, 1997. He was a partner of Haley Brothers, Santa Monica, Calif., for 14 years. He was a senior executive for L.E. Shaw, LTD in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Haley was a professor of business for 20 years at Santa Barbara City College and Brooks Institute. Haley served in the Army in World War II. He was active in Kiwanis and the Young Men’s Christian Association. He was an avid lawn bowler and won the United States Open Lawn Bowling Championship in 1972. Born Feb. 13, 1913, in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, he was a son of William K. and Susan L. Jones Haley. Haley graduated from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and did graduate work at the London School of Economics. Surviving are three sons, Peter of Glendale, Calif., David K. of this city and Timothy I. of Courtenay, British Columbia; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Francis E., Edgar R. and K. David C. Internment will be in California at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Sanders', 821 Diamond Street.

Robert C. Moore
WATSONTOWN – Robert C. Moore, 80, of 104 Maple Lane died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 at home. His wife Mildred J. “Pat” Ranck died in 1997. He was employed by Philco Ford/Zenith Corp. as a furniture repairman. He was later employed by Bro-Dart, Williamsport. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He received the Purple Heart. He was a 1940 graduate of Millville High School. He was a member of Wallace W. Fetzer American Legion Post 71 and Eagles Lodge 1208, both of Milton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and collecting Indian arrowheads. Surviving are a daughter, Diane M. Rogers of Selinsgrove RR 2; a son, James R. of Montandon; three brothers, Claude J. and Donald R., both of Milton, and Doyle E. of Milton RR 3; one sister, Jessie M. Rovenolt of Milton RR 2; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Ivan G. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cronrath’s, 308 Main St., Watsontown, with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown RR 2, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, with full graveside military rites by the Milton Area Veteran Association. Friends may call the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
