Kimberly A. Brown, 42, of 2795 Creekside Lane, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000. at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Muncy Valley Hospital. She was a member of the Living Church. She enjoyed reading and ceramics. She had been employed at Shop-Vac. Born April 21, 1958 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of James R. and Penny Savage Biichle. Surviving, besides her parents, with whom she lived, are a son, Matthew Brown of Bloomsburg; a sister, Debra D. Baker of this city; and two brothers, John R. Biichle and William M. Dortman, both of this city. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., with the Rev. Don L. Baker, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy RR 2. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers.

Thomas J. Duddy
MONTGOMERY - Thomas J. Duddy, 63, of 385 Heilman Circle, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at his home. Arrangements are being handled by Betzer’s, 108 N. Main St., Muncy.

Leo D. Godfrey
Leo D. Godfrey, 81, of 1609 Marlin Parkway, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Margaret Cimini, observed their 57th wedding anniversary June 10. Godfrey retired from Bell Telephone after 32 years. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Lycoming College. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a former member of the Republican Club. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church. Born, Aug. 9, 1919, in Williamsport, he was a son of John and Edith Krimm Godfrey. Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Sheri G. Smith of Williamsport, and Wendy G. Kerns of Altoona; a brother, Herbert of Wilkes-Barre; four grandchildren, Meghan Smith, Philadelphia, Andrew Smith, Villanova, Adam Kerns, Philadelphia, and Kate Kerns of West Chester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Francis J. Castellano, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel of Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Crouse’s 133 E. Third St. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30. The family will provide the flowers.

Shawnee V. Hauck
MILTON - Shawnee V. Hauck, 47, of Montandon, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at her home. She and her husband, Elwood F. Hauck, were married for 29 years. She attended Milton schools and worked at Pennsylvania House Furniture Co. for 15 years. She enjoyed camping and quilt-making. She attended the First Baptist Church of Milton. Born, Nov. 1, 1952, in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of Harry and Estherbelle McCoy Valiquette. Surviving, besides her husband, are her parents, two daughters, Kelley Dickinson of Turbotville and Amy Hauck of Milton; a son, Scott Valiquette of Allenwood; two brothers, Douglas Valiquette of Pennsdale, and Harry Valiquette Jr., of White Deer; and five grandchildren. A brother, Timothy Valiquette, died in 1972. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shaw’s, 400 N. Front St., with the Rev. Jerry G. Frear Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Milton Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bruce M. Wheeler
CANTON - Bruce M. Wheeler, 57, a former Canton resident, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at the Bradford County Manor. He was a security guard at the Masonite Corporation in Towanda until his retirement in the mid-1970s due to health reasons. He was a Canton High School graduate. Born, April 9, 1943, in Sayre, he was a son of Harold G. and Gladys F. Quick Wheeler. Surviving are two sons, Bruce and John, both of Powell; a sister, Elsie of Ralston; three brothers, Lyle of Erin, N.Y., Durwin of Elmira, N.Y., and Harold Terry of Tioga; and three grandchildren, Amber, Jessica and Cody Wheeler, all of Powell. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morse and Kleese’s, 40 N. Center St., with long-time family friend Pat Rosner officiating. Burial will be private. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ruth N. Brubaker
Ruth N. Brubaker, 83, of Riverwoods, Lewisburg, formerly of Loyalsock Township, died Friday Sept. 22, 2000, at Riverwoods, where she had lived since 1989. Her husband, the Rev. D. Owen Brubaker, died May 20, 1987. She was a third-grade teacher at Becht Elementary School in Loyalsock Township and was a kindergarten teacher in Montoursville. She was a graduate of the former Mansfield State Teachers College. She and her husband had served the Pine Street, Faith and South Williamsport United Methodist Churches, along with St. Paul’s at Hazleton. She was active in various aspects of the church and most recently was a member of Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church. Born Feb. 4, 1917, in Saxton, she was a daughter of the Rev. Carl V. and Elva Dempsey Drake. Surviving are a son, Robert of Sugarloaf; two daughters, Linda Pflugrad of Columbia, Md. and Jan Zerfoss of Denver; and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Ronald O. Doan, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Gertha D. Thomas
JERSEY SHORE - The funeral was Friday for Gertha D. Thomas, of Jersey Shore, who died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Manor Care Nursing Center. The funeral was at Rearick-Carpenter’s, 1002 Allegheny St., with her pastor, the Rev. George J. Morton, officiating. Burial was in Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Charles E. Vought
Charles E. Vought, of 554 Quaker State Road, Montoursville, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Hazel A. Kreger
Hazel A. Kreger, 92, of Morris RR 1, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at home. Her husband, Benjamin D. Kreger, died in 1988. She was a farm wife. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Nauvoo. Born May 24, 1908, in Morris, she was a daughter of Arthur D. House and Bessie P. House Powell. Surviving are a daughter, Jean A. Cooper of Wellsboro; two sons, Robert A. and Dean F., both of Morris; a brother, Eugene House of Blossburg; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arnold and Kenneth House. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church in Nauvoo, with the Rev. Joy Hulslander officiating. Burial will be in Salem St. Paul Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, from 7 to 9 tonight, and at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Thomas J. Duddy
MUNCY - Thomas J. Duddy, 63, of 385 Heilman Circle, Montgomery, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at home following a brief illness. He and his wife, the former Helen A. Lisesky, observed their 42nd wedding anniversary Nov. 9. He was an engineer at Textron-Lycoming. He was a 1955 graduate of Plymouth High School and a 1957 graduate of Penn State University, Wilkes-Barre with a degree in engineering. He was retired from the Navy Reserves. He was a member of Church of the Resurrection. Born Oct. 1, 1936, in Plains, Luzerne County, he was a son of Thomas J. and Lillian Kendig Duddy. Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, H. Linda Donahue of Elmira, N.Y. and M. Susan Morrison of Montgomery; a son Thomas J. III of Montoursville; a sister, Margaret Yatsko of Dallas, Texas; and three grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron Morrison and Olivia. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church, 526 N. Main St., with the Rev. David Cappelloni, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Betzer’s, 108 N. Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family will provide the flowers.

Craig Russell Knowlden
Craig Russell Knowlden, 44, of Summerville, S.C., died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Summerville Medical Center, Summerville. He attended South Williamsport schools. He was employed by R.C. Strickland and was a former on-air personality in radio broadcasting for 25 years. He was a Methodist. Born Dec. 13, 1955, in Philadelphia, he was a son of H. Russell and Dorothy Stevens Knowlden. Surviving are his parents of South Williamsport; his wife, Mary of Summerville; two sons, Lee of Augusta, Ga. and Ryan James of Summerville; a brother, Steve of Hinesburg, Vt.; and two grandchildren. The services were Saturday at Dyal’s, 303 S. Main St., Summerville.

Rose L. Banfill
LOCK HAVEN - Rose L. Banfill, 85, of 518 1/2 Bellefonte Ave., died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, in Lock Haven Hospital intensive care unit, where she had been since Wednesday. Her husband, Maynard I. Banfill, died April 26, 1979. She had worked at Lock Haven Silk Mill. She was a volunteer for many organizations and groups, including More Than Bread, Salvation Army’s Home League, Cancer society, arthritis and heart funds. She was a 1928 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She was a member of Lock Haven area YMCA ladies auxiliary, the Republican party and the Ramblers Club. She was awarded the Service to the Community Award, Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award and the Benjamin Rush Award. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Born Jan. 7, 1915, in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of Antonio G. and Carmella Caputo DelGrippo. Surviving are three sons, Skip and James A., both of Mill Hall and Terry L. of Flemington; two brothers; three sisters; four grandchildren, Stephanie A. Johnson, Gerald, Sean and Kira; and a great-granddaughter. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church, 310 W. Water St., with Msgr. Dennis Boggs as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a Salvation Army Memorial Service at 8 and a vigil at 8:30.

Helen Lelia LaMont
CANTON - Helen Lelia LaMont, 99, formerly of Granville Summit, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at Bradford County Manor, Burlington. Her husband, Joel R. LaMont, died March 31, 1973. She was a teacher at Laquin and Barclay schools. She was a graduate of Laquin High School and the former Mansfield Normal School. She was a member of Etude Music Club of the Leroy and Canton areas. She attended Bailey’s Corners Baptist Church. Born Aug. 29, 1901, in Cuba, N.Y., she was a daughter of Frederick and Ada Cole Hatch. Surviving are four daughters, Phyllis Law of Canton, Madeline Abel of Liverpool, N.Y., Dorna VanNoy of Granville Summit and Julia Flock of Vail, Ariz.; a son, Frederick of Canton; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Joel “Tim” LaMont; three sisters; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Pepper’s, Springbrook Drive, with the Rev. Ronald Bly, family friend, officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luther Mills. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. Friday.

Frances P. Butler
WELLSBORO - Frances P. Butler, 88, of Wellsboro, RR 7, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Her husband, George Wallace Butler, died Dec. 22, 1958. She was a housewife. Born Nov. 10, 1911, in Mills, she was a daughter of James and Marie Lampman Pollock. Surviving are three daughters, Helen Davis, Ramona Saturn and Nancy Copp, all of Wellsboro; two sons, Lloyd of Lawrenceville and Glen of Wellsboro; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., with Darwin Cranmer, officiating. Burial will be in Niles Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 8 tonight.

Don E. Schwartz
Don E. Schwartz, 47, of Ludlow, Vt., formerly of Montoursville, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at Southern Chester County Medical Center, West Grove, while visiting in that area. He was presently a ski school director at Bear Mountain Club, Plymouth, Vt. and previously was director of adaptive ski programs at Okemo Mountain Ski Area, Ludlow, and at Swain Ski Center, Swain, N.Y. He was founder of Alpine Experience, a skiing program for individuals with disabilities. He also was a consultant at area ski centers for the adaptive ski program. He was employed by the Social Services Department of the State of Vermont. He had previously worked at Corning Glass, Corning, N.Y., for 16 years. He was a 1971 graduate of Montoursville High School and the former Williamsport Area Community College. He also received a masters of business administration degree from Cornell University. He received the Pennsylvania State Police Outstanding Citizenship Award for his efforts to assist survivors of the 1983 Christmas Eve crash near Montoursville. He attended Tyson Church, Echo Lake, Ludlow. Born July 22, 1953, he was a son of Louis R. and Donna Nelson Schwartz. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, David G. Painter of Hughesville; a brother, Jeffrey R. of Newburgh, Ind.; a stepsister, Glenda Farrington of Montoursville; and maternal grandmother, Lois Nelson of RiverWoods, Lewisburg. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Paul C. Murphy of Faith United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.
